Scanjet G4050 and 64-bit MS Windows 7

My Scanjet G4050 will not work with MS Windows 7.  It performs fine under XP.  The problem seems to be that  the HP interface reports not being able to see the device.  There is, however, connumication with the device on some level since I can hear it responding to some initial commands from the computer.  The error HP error messages are unhelpful.  Any ideas?

  • HP Scanjet G4050 and Windows 7 Home Premium Ver 6.1

I bought the G4050 photo scanner years ago and it worked fine with my old laptop windows XP operating system for the time I had it.  But shortly after, I upgraded my laptop to a Dell XPS with a Windows 7 Home Premium. I've never been able to use my scanner since and its been sitting in a box for years now collecting dust. Is there anyway I can make the G4050 work with my Dell XPS lap top which operates with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system? Or am I better off bringing the scanner to the dump after only having ever used it a couple of times. All this new technology has made life very much more complicated if you ask me.

    Hi there @yvans2105,
I saw your post about the issue you are having with using your Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner with your Windows 7 system.
My suggestion is to download and run the full driver and software and install the scanner on your computer. You should be able to use it afterwards!

  • Scanjet G4050 and driver 1.3.0 + Mac OSX 10.9.4

I recently returned to the combination Vuescan/Scanjet G4050 for the first ime since March this year (after scanning several thousand negs) and found it no longer worked properly. Vuescan no longer recognised the transparancy capabilities of the scanner, but flatbed scans were OK.
I decided to update to the latest driver 1.3.0.
Now on startup the scanner makes an extra noise (a long whine) for ca 30 seconds and the indicator light then flashes (for ever?) turning it off and back on again returns it to a normal standby.
But now Vuescan hangs on startup, or sometimes suceeds on opening but will not respond to scan requests. The scanner sort of works with Image Capture through System Preferences but it is very slow and the images are posterized.
Vuescan is working perfectly with my other scanner, and I have even tried earlier versions of it with this driver with the same results.
THe HP utility is also crashing now and the uninstall program sees nothing.
I have been advised by Ed Hamrick at Vuescan to use the 32 bit version of the program to sidestep this. That hasn't worked yet... will try a complete restart but i'm sending this whatever the result as there seems to be something wrong with this driver...
    Utility crash report:

OK, using the 32 bit version of Vuescan worked with this driver, even if it behaved differently (scans twice) and the scanner is still behaving oddly at start-up (30 second whine then straight into energy save mode)

  • Mouse not working in Virtual machine (win2k3 32 and 64 bit) on Windows Server 2008 RC1 With Hyper-V Technologies

I have installed two virtual machines(win2k3 32bit and win2k3 64bit ) on Windows Server 2008 RC1 With Hyper-V Technologies (Beta) enterprise. Mouse is getting lost inside VM (using CTRL+ ATL +  LEFT ARROW  comes mouse control control in host OS).
Is there any setting to make mouse works? Insert Integration Serice setup Disk operation succeeds.

The problem is that the old mousedriver is hooked to the mouse device class.
To remove this dependency, go into the registry and navigate to the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Remove the value msvmmouf from the UpperFilters Regvalue.
    Reboot....
    tadaaa!!
If you wish you can take out the drivers completely by deleting these registry hives completely :
    The driver:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\msvmmouf
    The Service:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\VPCMap
The CopyHook Shell Extension: ( for folder access )

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\CopyHookHandle rs\VPCCopyHook
After a reboot you can delete the "Virtual Machine Additions" folder from program files...

    Hello,
can any body please let me know the performance issues, differences between 32bit and 64bit of oracle application sever 10g? I heard there were some differences... where can i find the information try to look in oracle site not much help...
please help me out because we are in the process of installing the 10 application server on 32 bit platform on windows 2003.
    Thanks much....

May be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.
A good starting point is My Oracle Support Note [url https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=564174.1]564174.1, "Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5". • HP Scanjet G4050. Get "Error 1706.No valid source could be found for product ScannerCopy...."

I just bought a new Scanjet G4050 and when I try to install the software I get an error message and the software will not install. Error message is:"Error 1706.No valid source could be found for product ScannerCopy. The Windows Installer cannot continue." During the install, I was prompted to enter a CD or other location to load ScannerCopy.
I had an older version of this same Scanjet G4050 working on my PC about a year ago. My PC is running Vista 64.
Any ideas how I can get the software to successfully load? Any ideas of where I can get this "ScannerCopy" that the software is asking for?

  • Installation issue with Scanjet G4050 with Windows 8.1 64 bit

I have recently replaced aa  old PC with an HP Envy 23, operating system windows 8.1, 64bit. I am now trying to install my Scanjet G4050. Having downloaded the software HP Scanjet G4050 Photo Scanner Full Feature Software and Driver I am now trying to run it. Two hours after starting the install it is still at 'checking system' and has not progressed. This is the second attempt, having tried last night and had to stop after an hour with it still 'checking system'. I have (temporarily) switched off antivirus/firewalls in case they were an issue. I had no issues with this installation in the past on Vista.
Any ideas what to try next?

  • ScanJet N6350 and Windows 10 - Won't Install

Has anyone been able to install the ScanJet N6350 and its associated drivers and tool set in the release version of Windows 10 64-bit Enterprise Edition? I have tried the original CD and the updated install from HP's website. Both either hang or crash.

I was able to get my HP Envy 4500 printing wireless on Windows 10 by right-clicking the installation program and selecting "Troubleshoot compatibility".  Use the recommended settings, which for me was Windows 7.  I believe you can also specify which compatibility mode to run the program with in Properties > Compatibility if you prefer that route.

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out.  --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
Click Erase, and choose one of the following from the Format pop-up menu:
If the size of the disk is 32 GB or less, choose MS-DOS (FAT).
If the size of the disk is over 32 GB, choose ExFAT.
Type a name for the disk. The maximum length is 11 characters.
Click the Erase button and then click Erase again.
Which versions of Windows are supported with Boot Camp 5?
64-bit versions of Windows 8 and Windows 7 are supported using the Boot Camp 5 Support Software. If you need to use a 32-bit version, you need to use Boot Camp 4 Support Software, and you must use Windows 7. 32-bit versions of Windows 8 are not supported via Boot Camp. Thank you for your help
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

No worries. Yes, you can perform an install of Vista with the DVDs that you have. You can  reformat the hard disk as part of the installation.
Before you begin, go into the Device Manager to see which wireless adapter, graphics adapter  and lan adapter is installed and write it down. Doing that will save you some time.
You will need the following DVDs from what you have stated the notebook was delivered with..
Operating System DVD Windows Vista Business SP1 (64-it)
Application and Driver Recovery DVD 32-bit & 64-bit for Windows Vista
Write down the twenty five character  license activation key before you begin. Enter it when requested to by the Windows installation script. After the installation is complete use the driver disk to install the drivers. If HP Support Assistant is available on the driver and application disk, install that also.
