Scanned document stays on screen in background

I scanned a document and saved to a file to email later.  The document is still on my screen in the background.  It is not set as wallpaper.  I do not know how to remove it.

Greetings @gmskip
Welcome to the community,
I understand you had scanned a document and it is still appearing on your screen. My first suggestion would be to restart your computer.
If that does not help, please let me know which printer you have and which OS you're running.
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
How Do I Find My Model Number?
Take care,

  • Editting a scanned document

Hello everyone i am new to this forum.  But i am going crazy trying to figure out how to make changes to the text of a scanned document but not change the background picture.  is this possible with adobe acrobat? if not any suggestions?

Acrobat's OCR methods Formatted Text and Graphics (Acrobat 8) or Clear Scan (Acrobat 9) more readily lend themselves to editing.
With that said it is not always like falling off a log in the river.

  • How to change color of handwriting in a scanned document and make background transparent

I'm a newbie using Photoshop Elements 11 and trying--unsuccessfully so far--to change a document I've scanned so I can upload it to a custom fabric printing service. I've already scanned a handwritten recipe as a color .tif file (which looks black on white, because the original is black writing on a white background). I've also resized the image to 14" x 23". What I need help with is:
    1. I want to change the color of the handwriting from black to red (specifically, to hex code cd0303).
    2. I also want to add a 2"-wide solid color border in the same red around the 14" x 23" image of the recipe (so the finished image will be 18" x 27".
    3. I want to make the background of the recipe transparent rather than white and make sure that the background stays transparent when I upload the finished image to the printing service as a .png file so that only the red writing and border will be printed onto the fabric.
I'd very much appreciate directions for doing those things. For reasons I don't understand, when I've created a blank file and set the background color to Transparent, then tried to make the changes I want, somewhere along the way the background changes to black.
    Many thanks!

    Try this:
Open your scanned document, and be sure that there is good contrast. The native scan may need some help.
Duplicate the background layer, then shut off the visibility of the background layer by clicking on its eye icon. Work on background copy layer
Get the magic wand tool out of the toolbox, set tolerance to 32 (may have to experiment with this value), uncheck "contiguous".. Left click on a white background area. Hit delete on keyboard. Press CTRL+D to get rid of the marching ants.
Set your foreground color chip to cd0303
CTRL+left click on the layer thumbnail with the writing, then Edit>fill selection>foreground color
    Press CTRL+D
Go to Select>all, then Edit stroke(outline) selection. Position stroke inside, set width of stroke to suit
Delete the background layer, and save in file format which preserves transparency.

  • Is there a way to have Adobe Acrobat run in the background while scanning documents?

This was working fine up until last week and then all of a sudden, the scanning program overrides anything else I'm doing on the computer (such as typing an email, etc).  I'm not sure if a recent update removed that setting, but I'd like to be scanning documents, but not have to wait until it's done to have my computer back.  Does anyone know how to change this?

My organization is having this same issue.  Our scanners were using 9.2 Acrobat standardard to scan.  While they were scanning, they could switch focus to another application and work while scanning continued in the background.  Now, the twain driver grabs focus at the start of every page.  This must have happened because of an upgrade.  Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated considering this has affected our productivity.

I scanned documents to my Macbook Pro and it popped up on my screen so I know it scanned properly.  Then I did a "save as" and I tried as a pdf & a jpg and then when I go to my documents it won't allow me to open.  It shows it there but it is grey and not in bold black so when I click on it I can't open it.  I know nothing about computers so Help me please!!!!

  • How do I make a hover object stay on screen?

I have a CSS image gallery, and am struggling to finish it off (I originally intended to find a js example but couldn't find what I wanted despite extensive trawling).
Hovering over the thumbs brings up the large image as required, but I need the image to then stay on screen until the user hovers over another thumb.  I'm pretty sure this is possible, but can't work out how to do it.

  • Display parked vendor invoice and scanned invoice in same screen

    Hi,
When a user from his business workplace, displays a parked vendor document, they need to choose
"Services for Object-> AttachmentList" to display the scanned document connected.
I have a request to make this scanned document being displayed directly in a split screen together with the
    parked document.
In workflow method RELEASE is being called when user from his business workplace enters a document.
Method RELEASE is calling screen 700 to display the parked document.
If I make a new method ZRELEASE, I could make my own screen displaying parked document and scanned invoice in a split screen.
    That would be possible right?
But I have no idea how I get the scanned document, is there any methods or function modules for this ?
    Anyone have an idea ?

I am sorry. Thought I was very clear. Where this is taking place is in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. I assumed you would know I was trying to save the scanned document to  PDF after using the create a PDF from a scanner. That is why I listed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. I am able to print the scanned document to a PDF. This is happening on multiple machines with the configurations I listed in my first question. Windows 7 64bit and 32bit, Kodak Scanner I30 I40, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 10. Enough Information?

  • Need Help - Acrobat 9.4 won't open scanned documents

I have a computer in my office that will not open scanned documents in Acrobat 9.4. Acrobat opens but is just a grey screen.  Documents that were converted to PDF from Word/Excel/etc. will open just fine.
Adobe Reader 10X is also installed on the computer and will open scanned documents, but user needs to be able to go in and edit documents, so Reader is not enough for him.
    Any troubleshooting ideas greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Since scans are images you need to go to Edit >  Preferences > Page Display and put a checkmark in the box for "Show large images"  This should allow you to see the scans.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Optimize Scanned Documents problems

Acrobat 9 Pro Optimize Scanned Documents only seems to affect the first page of the document when I try to remove the gray background that is an artifact of the scanning which I didn't do.

But that's just plain stupid! I don't want 20 windows open when I drag 20 files into Acrobat for printing. I just want one.
I wonder why they have done it like this.
There are a lot of things missing from Acrobat 7 that I wish they hadn't removed. I thought upgrades was supposed to make a program better, not worse! Now I have to find work-arounds for a lot of things that was easy before and now doesn't work at all or works but takes a lot of time to do.

  • I know only Javascript and would like to convert a large numbers of scanned documents into layers to mount on white a4 canvas

I have got more than 400 scanned documents of A4 size. But they are not of uniform size. Luckily they are all of 300 dpi. They were created on a scanner. When opened in photoshop they contain random patches that are transparencies, although there seems to be no difficulty viewing themon adobe reader.
My laptop had "Gb RAM and does not accept CS4 I have Photoshop CS3. My javascript and photoshop are both limited to basic skills.
I would like to mount each document on a white A4 sized photoshop background of300dpi, as a layer, flatten it out and save as the desired page.
As this is rather time-consuming, I would like to have a script that will perform this task, on a single file.
I would like to manually run this script on each file.
If possible I would additionally like to  put the individual pages in a folder and run the script repetetively on all files in the folder.
Any suggestions or held will be gratefully appreciated

  • What should the settings in Preview be if scanning documents and the faxing them

I'm trying to scan documents using preview and my printer. Once I scan the documents, I save them in dropbox and later fax them using SFax. However, the faxes are coming out blurry and very difficult to read. What should the Preview settings be on? PDF? File Format? How many dots per inch? What are standard settings?

I am a recently retired webmaster and fortunately have fewer eye problems than most people my age. I have astigmatism and, in common with most people over 40, have reduced accommodation. Perhaps because I have spent considerable time in front of computer screens my eyes focus most easily at screen distance. I use low power long distance glasses to watch television and drive after dark. I use low power reading glasses for small print such as maps and repairing small items. Most of the time I don't need glasses.
There is no such thing as standard settings for font size or style. It is entirely a matter of personal preference.
    Here are my settings:
34cm x 27cm Apple Studio Display set to millions of colours and a resolution of 1280 x 1024
Safari 'standard' font set to Geneva 14
Safari fixed width font set to Courier 14
Default encoding set to Western (ISO Latin 1)
Minimum font size set to 10
Geneva is a very old Apple font optimised for screen use. I still find it more readable than other fonts under a wide range of conditions.
I assume you know about Zoom settings to override the above:
    cmd + to increase size
    cmd - to decrease size
cmd 0 to return to 'normal' size
I set 'Zoom Text Only' on the view menu.
You can also create your own style sheet to obtain even more control. Here is a Google search link about these:
    https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=browser+%27style+sheet%27+%27visually+impa ired%27&as_qdr=all&newwindow=1&num=100
I have written many style sheets but not for visually impaired. I am happy to assist if required.

  • Creating PDFs from documents with graphics having transparent background

I came across this problem when making PDFs of PowerPoint presentations but I have found that the same thing happens in Word.
PDFs created from documents containing graphics having transparent backgrounds end up being very large (usually much larger than the source documents) and rendering slowly on the screen. The graphics are either JPGs with background set as transparent using the Set Transparent Color tool on the picture toolbar in MS Office applicatons, or PNGs that already have transparent backgrounds when inserted in the document. PDFs made from the same documents in which the graphics do not have transparent backgrounds are much smaller and render more quickly.
When I try to select the graphics in the resulting PDFs using the Touch-up Object tool, I find that each graphic is actually made up of many individual graphic lines. Graphics without a transparent background select as a single object.
I have tried several PDF creation tools and all kinds of settings but nothing seems to make much of a difference. The only way I can get a reasonable file size is to reduce resolution in the PDF creation settings to the point that they are unacceptable.
This happens to me in the following applications:
    * MS Word 2003
    * MS PowerPoint 2003
I have tried these PDF creation tools:
    * Acrobat 7 Pro
    * JAWS PDF Creator 3.60
    * Bullzip PDF Printer 6.0
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a solution?
    Thanks.

Well we can color this one solved. What I figured out I can do is have the application tell Word to print-to-file using an Apple LaserWriter (or other PostScript) printer, and put the resulting file in a folder that is being watched by Distiller. Distiller then converts the PS document to PDF and I'm in business.
So no change in the user process, and no need to crack open a new API and add it to the existing application. Works for me.
Thanks to all for the suggestions and specific links and other information of interest...

  • Pages and Full screen back background

Pages had a clear full screen mode, with a pitch black background that was fantatic for writing. Now it has a gray background that is very distracting for a person that is a writer and on the computer all day. Also when Apple talks about simplicity, they have made the full screen step the opposite. Now one has to click to full screen then click to get rid of the toolbar. They went from one step to a two step process. This may not seem like a big deal but when you are dealing with multiple writing outlines, it becomes daunting to open and adjust them constantly with the extra steps. Now someone will say just go back to Pages '09, but when I put a document in the cloud it switches to new pages. As a writer, inspirations hits when out and about, so its great to add those thoughts into the document on my phone, but now I have to deal with coverting it back to old pages to get what I wrote on the phone to the clean full screen black background of '09. It was because of the full screen black sides that I stopped using Word. For me the new pages is a step backwards.
If anyone else agrees, please post. Hope apple will change it back.

  • A procedure for removing a specific color from a scanned document

I have a large scanned document - the original is a 30 year old lineprinter printout with lines of alternating density green background (fellow geezers will know what I'm referring to) along with lines separating the different print line colors.  The print quality is marginal at best and I need to convert this into a searchable document.  However, the green lines seem to confuse the OCR and I get dozens of misread words and characters on each page.  Going to B/W or grayscale doesn't seem to help much.  I'd like to go into the document and remove anything that scanned as "green" and then try the OCR conversion.  Does anyone know whether this can be done in Acrobat?
Thanks for any suggestions you can send my way.

    Here are two suggestions:
    1.  Go to Settings > WiFi.  Then for each white arrow you find inside a blue circle on the right, click it, and then click "Forget this network" on top.  Repeat for all occurrences of arrows in circles.
    2.  Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and press that button.
