Scanner changes size of pages

Everytime i scan a regular 8 1/2 x 11 page, it will show up on the screen smaller than that size (reduced to like 75%) and with black smears at the bottom taking up the rest of the page. Not sure how to adjust this but really need to get it sorted as my job depends on scanning.

Hi , I did some homework on my end and produced a number of screenshots that depict the different settings you can adjust when scanning to computer. I used the HP Printer Assistant (software that comes with the printer) as well as Microsoft Paint and Windows Fax and Scan methods to illustrate all the ways you can scan to computer. I'm hoping that at least one approach results in the consistent document size that you're looking for. Note that while I did use an Officejet Pro 8620, the software setup and scan features are virtually identical to what you'd see with your 8610. HP Scan Method: Click on your printer icon on your PC desktop to open the HP Printer Assistant. From there click on Scan to Computer.Try configuring the scan settings as follows: Next, click on Advanced Settings and note the selections that I've used: Make sure the scan size matches the size of the originals: Microsoft Paint Method: If you're not having success with the HP software you might want to try using Microsoft Paint to scan. Use the following screenshots as a guide for configuring your scan settings: Open Paint and click on File and then 'From scanner or camera.' Select your printer. Choose the appropriate feeder vs. glass settings and paper size. Windows Fax and Scan Method: As an alternative to Paint you can use Windows Fax and Scan. The interface is similar to what you'll find in Paint. Let me know if any of these methods are useful in producing the scan size you're seeking. One way you can experiment with the results is by trying different scan sizes (i.e. letter size versus entire scanning area size). Change size of pages/text in pdf book

Hello I am trying to read a few pdf books but the text is so small that I have to zoom way in and then scroll from side to side to read the thing. Its super irritating. Is there a way to make the pdf book act more like the regular books? I would like to be able to have the text bigger and fit the page at the same time, instead of just zooming in. Thanks

No it doesn't.
Just make it the way you like it, select it and save it as a Style , just like any other text, which you then apply to the rest of the comments.

Pl/pdf changing size of page

Hi!!
I'm using PL/PDF for generate my pdf files, but i need to generate a pdf that has the size 5" X 8", but i don't know how can i do that, i tried to change the parameter in plpdf.init(), but i only found these formats A3 and A4,
Somebody can help me?..

I click on a link or start typing text in a box on a webpage, any page, and the browser window either randomly changes size, reduces & goes to the toolbar, or some other strange random thing occurs. Why is this?

Whenever I am using Firefox, when I am on a webpage (any webpage) & I either click on a link in that page, start typing in a box, click on a button, or click on a tab, the browser window either reduces to the toolbar, or just changes size, usually from full-screen to 2/3 of its size. I reinstalled Firefox (downloaded from the web) after wiping my hard drive because I was having so many problems from my browser constantly crashing, to the computer itself crashing often, to the computer running exceptionally slow. At first everything seemed fine. But then after having opened my computer a few times, a few different windows began to freeze, then that stopped, then this thing with the browser started a few times later after opening it. Now it does it every time I open it. Also, whenever I try to click on a button on other windows on my computer, I get the 'warning' sound, nothing happens, then after a couple more tries, the button works. All of this is just weird. I had antivirus protection on my computer, but it apparently did not catch whatever virus infected my computer, or the damage was already done when it did get it. I thought once the hard drive was wiped, that everything would be ok, but then these weird things began to start up, and now I am wondering.... Of course, it could also be something wrong with the browser, too. I've also had some trouble getting my printer to working again, but I've managed to solve that problem.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

Change the Default Page Size for WebI

Hello Experts,
We have requriement where we need to change the default page size and margins for WebI, I have change the page size in defaultconfig.xml but don't see any options for Margins, How do I change the default margins?
Any help or suggestion would be highlt appereciated.

From what I am finding it doesn't seem to be possible in 3.x, I could be wrong and someone might chime in with a workaround but at least it was added in 4.0

Changing the document page size after the fact.

Does anyone know of a way to change the page size globally after the fact?
I have sent a 200 page book created with Pages '08 to my printer. The work has a full bleed watermark in the background on a custom 7" X 11" document. I've just been informed that he needs to increase the paper size to 7.25 X 11.25 and have me increase the watermark so it can be trimmed down.
Is there a way to change all 200 pages or do I need to set-up a new document and do a whole lot of cut and paste?

Your problem is that the change is not proportional.
However it is not a great change, 6.66% at most. If you don't mind a subtle change in height vs width, just create a pdf of the entire document and tell the printer to change the size on going to plate.
Alternatively you can simply scale it up the 6.66% which will make the height about 0.5" too high and trim away the excess.
The other way is only scale it up 2.27% which gives you the right height but leaves you with 0.1" less width.
Or you can go in between and have a compromise for both directions by scaling up 4.4%.
It depends if you have white margins in either direction that can take up the slack and also how much bleed you have on the watermark. You only need 1/8" to cover any trimming errors.
As this appears to be quite a long book and would need to be imposed up in signatures, I would imagine the printer must have the necessary imposition software to allow for creep etc, which should also allow for non-symmetrical scaling.
Don't you Americans ever feel at moments like these that you wish you weren't the last people in the world to not use metrics and rational paper sizes?

Cmd brings up dashboard, can I change it? I used to use it to change the text size in Pages

Upgraded to lion and all is good. However, cmd+ has been hyjacked by the OS to bring up the dashboard. I use cmd+ and cmd- to change the text size in Pages. Is there a way to change the Lion keyboard shortcuts to get the functionality back for Pages? The cmd- still works to reduce text size in Pages, so it's even more frustrating that cmd+ does something else.

Well on my MBP running Lion 10.7.2 Command+ or - does not do anything, and that is using either Command+ or Command(+ shift)+. I do not have pages installed.
The point is that Command+ and Command- should control the text size in Pages (we're not talking about any othr program, just Pages). Those are hard-set (programmed in the software) keyboard commands for Pages.
In Pages, Command+ should increase the text size, and not bring up the Dashboard. And that is the OP's problem - that command is bringing up Dashboard, which it should not do. Apparently there is some setting somewhere that is causing Command+ to do the wrong thing - and that's what we're trying to find.
So at least on my MBP Command+ certainly does not bring up the Dashboard....
Good - it's not supposed to, nor is that what the OP wants.
By the way, if you use Safari and/or Mail, you'll find that Command+ and Command- adjust the text size in those programs. Ditto Numbers, TextEdit, Bean, and many other programs - it's a fairly common assignment, hence not one which usually needs to be added via Keyboard Shortcuts.

How to change the size of page in Acrobat XI pro

I would like to save a PDF docuemnt with another size of page.
I can't figure out how to do it.
For Acrobat X and earlier the advise was to go to Crop tool (or by Ctrl-Shift-T) and chose from drop down menu.
This advice seems to eb not valid anymore with Acrobat XI, as Cropt tool doesn't have any drop down menu, but Ctrl-Chift-T leads to Insert Page dialogue.
I'd appreciate an explanation whether it is possible in Acrobat XI Pro and how.

Default paper size in page setup

I have 3 different printers, each with specific paper sizes. My HP C3180 uses letter size only. My HP Officejet pro K850 uses tabloid (ledger) size only. My Toshiba e-studio 20s has a tray for letter and another for tabloid. My problem is that when I set the default paper size in page setup, it changes the paper size for all three printers! How do I set a different default paper size for each individual printer?

Size of pages in combined pdf files

How can I keep the combined pdf files from changing sizes in the newly created pdf. If the combining tool doesn't allow me to save the original pdf file size, it's of very little use to me. Can someone help me ?

You are saying that the PDF pages change size when combined? Ok, what were the sizes before and after? You can check the exact size by holding the mouse at the extreme bottom left of the page until the size appears.

New to flash, swf loaded while changing size

i'm trying to create a button that will replace the current
swf with another and i want the size to change between the various

You can't change size dynamically as it is defined by the
object embed tags.
You could use WMODE transparency which could help you fake it
tho not always best
solution to go with WMODE. It's a very buggy parameter.
WMODE will remove the background color so the flash movie
appear over the html and you
can see the HTML content trough the movie.
You could define some solid shape for the background on
bottom layer to make it look
like SWF background, than change it with the other loaded
movie making it appear as it
changed size while the over all flash size stats the same. As
said above - faking it.

Changing size of books (from Large to Medium) ?

Hi all,
I've made my first Book in Aperture.
Theme: Modern lines; Size: 44 pages, Large Softcover (11"x 8 1/2")
I want to buy a large version of this book for myself and some medium version of the same book for my friends, but I don't understand how (and if is it possibile?) to resize a book from Large to Medium.
I have tried the duplicate book function and I have selected Modern Lines - Medium from the themes menu, but all of my layout modify and text was gone..
So.. there is a simple way to convert a large book into a medium one, or I have to manually redesign all the 44 pages of the book?
I hope that's possible to resize books of the same theme..
I've tried to read all the "book" section of the Aperture PDF manual, but I hope I've missed something..

not with this version of aperture. the text will default to the original template. the photographs will stay in the pages though
