Scanner communication cannot be estableshed

HP Officejet Pro 8620
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Just installed the printer.  When I try to scan from the computer, I get the message that scanner communication cannot be established.  I have run the CD and down loaded the software twice.  Don't know what I am doing wrong.

  • I'm having a "Scanner communication cannot be established" error when trying to scan to my iMac.

    Hi,
I have an HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium printer connected via wireless to my iMac running the latest version of OS X Lion. I can print with no problems but when I try to scan using HP Scan 3 I get the "Scanner communication cannot be established" error plus the following additional information...
"HP Officejet 6700 is currently unavailable. Ensure your device is powered on, check the connection, and ensure your network is functioning properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the device and try scanning again"
Scan to Computer in HP Utility is enabled and other features as well and they work fine but when I use HP Scan 3 to scan there's no way I could get it to work. I tried rebooting my iMac and the printer. Also I have the latest drivers and firmware installed.  Please advice.
    Yours,
    Ramón

Is the HP software on your Mac the right version for Lion?
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
Try scanning from Image Capture in your Applications folder.  Select your scanner on the left, then click "Show Details" and finally "Overview" to start the process.

  • Scanner communication cannot be established

My internet provider recently upgraded my internet service.  They provided me with a new "all-in-one" modem and router.  Since then, everytime we shut down and restart the modem/router, my scanner stops working.  Printer and fax works fine.  Error message is "Scanner communication cannot be established".  My computer is connected to the printer wirelessly. The only way I've figured out to fix the problem is to re-install the software and driver, but this is annoying to have to do everytime.

  • Scanner communication can not be established

At the time of software installation, my HP M467dw worked fine without a hitch.  I connected via ethernet cable to home network.  The following day I attempted to scan from the desktop, however I continued to get the the message that the scanner communication could not be established, and try this and that.  I have researched this to no avail, and found the only solution is to uninstall and reinstall the software, only to loose the scanning ability noted above after cold boot.  I am able to print, and also able to scan and fax on the HP device.  The printer and scanner appear to be using different ports so issue is not localized.  I would appreciate any information which may lead to a resolution.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit. and the HP software is compatible.

  • My Iphone  won't receive or send email, "data communication cannot be established since a call is currently active"

Suddenly my phone will not receive or send email.  It tells me that "data communication cannot be established since a call is currently active"  It is burning the battery like crazy.

Drove to the nearest Verizon store after work, not close by either.  Unbelievably simple, he removed all of the gmail info as if it never excisted, put it back in and viola...everything works.   Cancelled my Genuis Bar appt for Monday as all is working.  Why the other Verizon guy couldn't help me over the phone is beyond my comprehension.
Thanks for all of your help.  It has been rather stressful especially not being able to swipe credit cards.
For what it's worth, this fellow told me if I have trouble like this again to eliminate the gmail account on the iphone and install the google app which he said works much better than the email app that came with the phone.
    Best wishes.

  • Please help. I have just purchased a Mustek A3 usb 2400 scanner and cannot find drivers  for maverick

I am very frustrated ... have spent two hours searching for drivers for a driver for this scanner ... no idea what to do.
    Would greatly appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

I can now see it in Image Aquire ... image capture does not see it nor does VueScan.
Image aquire is a horrible program. It crashes continually.
I still have no idea where the driver files that I have downloaded are. I cant find them anywhere. Admittedly I know very very little about how the computer runs ...I just use the programs. And, I believe reasonably, that when I purchase a product that it will work on my operating system. The business that I purchased from will be open tomorrow and I will ring them. If I cannot sort this out I will have to return it.

  • Canon MX310 scanner communication error with OS X 10.5.8

Does anyone have ideas to solve the Canon MX310 error message, "Cannot communicate with scanner." I'm running Canon MP Navigator EX 1.0. My MX310 prints & copies wirelessly using an Airport Extreme w/o difficulty. I have checked that the USB cable is connected, printer is ON and tried a shut down of both computer & printer then restart which didn't resolve the issue. The error id might be 155.0.0. I don't get any other error messages generated from OS X. Thanks!

  • Ni-fbus communications cannot connect interface

I am using NI-FBUS Communications Manager 3.2 with a NI PCMCIA-FBUS Series 2 card in a Ricoh R/RL/... series PCMCIA adapter on a desktop computer.  I enabled the PCMCIA card via the Interface Configuration Utility.  When I start the Comm Manager, I get the following error message:
NI_FBUS Communications Manager cannot connect interface 0 on the fieldbus board 1. Click OK to.....
Windows sees the Ricoh adapter card and the Series 2 card as working properly.  If I install the Series 2 card in a laptop, the Comm Manager starts properly.  The same series 2 card and Ricoh adapter card has been used in another desktop computer also running XP SP2.
How do I get this combination up and running?

I tried the PCMCIA card and adapter card in another computer running XP and NI-FBUS Communications Manager 3.1.1.  The combination worked properly; the card was seen and the Comm Manager opened.  When Configurator was opened, the device attached to the link was seen.
Is there a compatibility difference between Comm Mgr 3.1.1 and 3.2?

  • HP officejet Pro 8500 a plus-sudden loss of scanner communication......again

I have a HP officejet Pro 8500 a plus running on windows 7 pro 64, no system changes made since problem started occuring.
Today my printer would not scan/print or do anything for that matter wirelessly. Test report came back saying everything fine, but obviously that isnt worth the paper it is printed on. I've tried several of the tools, exe's and other suggestions I had found to no avail. I joined this forum out of hope for a solution, and to voice my displeasure with the product.
I should state that I had this problem once before (approximately 8 months ago on a different router/ISP configuration) and was able to rectify after trying all the options I could find,  with a power down/unplugging of printer/modem/pc. That did not work this time, I've wasted the better part of the day trying to get this thing back up and running, and honestly for the age(less than a year I have owned) and the cost I find this unacceptable. I also find the lack of valid solutions available and unresolved threads to be insulting to your customer base.
I apologize for the tone of this post, but I have gone through almost every thread I could find through google and seen many people sharing the same problems, and not seeing any solutions in any of the numerous threads.
Lots more to say, but HP has taken enough of my time today, how about a solution.

I forgot to mention the printer has been working on it's current ISP/Modem configuration for 3.5 months

  • Cannot communicate with scanner

I have just purchased a new HP Envy k250na notebook and I am having major problems trying to connect to my HP Envy 120 ll in one printer, I can connect and print wirelessly without any problems but when trying to scan from my notebook I get a message stating "scanner communication cannot be established" etc.
I have performed all the reconnection procedures, ie power off, disconnect power lead to printer then restart etc but without any luck, I have even spent nearly 2 hours on the "chat" service where a technician took control over my laptop and after over an hour trying this and that said that there "could be a problem with my notebooks operating system and that I should do a full reset",
5 hours later, having done a full reset still no improvement,
Prior to purchasing my HP Notebook I had a Samsung notebook running Windows 8.1 64bit, and never had any communication problems whatsoever, scanning and printing easily.
I have tried downloading and installing hardware and software updates but this does not help.
When going into HP Print and Scan Doctor after running the tests I am told that under "Driver Check"  "The scan driver is unable to communicate with the product" I follow all the instructions but still no better, when trying to download the updates using HP Device Updater I get the message "The HP Device Upgrade cannot continue".
I would have thought that trying to connect a HP notebook to a HP printer would be straight forward unless there is a major problem with my notebook.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Stephan.

    Hi @stpauli,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble connecting your HP Envy 120 Scanner to your Windows 8.1 Notebook. But, I am happy to help!
To verify the printer's hardware is functioning properly, are you able to make copies with your printer?
By any chance, do you have another computer that you can try installing the printer on? Just so we can make sure if the issue is with the computer, or the printer.

  • M177fw wireless not working for scanner only-have same printer in second location

I have this exact same MFP laserjet in another location that works perfectly over the wifi network.  I just purchased the same printer for a second physical location and installed it.  I gave the new printer a different name when I installed the device.  Printing over wifi works perfectly from two laptops.  The copy function works perfectly.  I cannot get the scanner to work at the new location from either laptop.
When I installed the software on one of the laptops, I got a message that the driver was already present and suggested I use the existing version already installed.   So I used the already installed software.  For this laptop, I have a shortcut from the start menu called HP Scan.  At the original location, this works fine over wifi.  For the new printer at the new location, when I start HP Scan from either the HP folder or the shortcut, I get a box titled "Scanner Unreachable.  Scanner communication cannot be established..."  and suggests updating the IP address.  I looked at the printer configuration and the ip address is correct.
I reset the printer to the factory settings, rebooted the modem and configured the printer again, hoping that the correct IP address would populate correctly, but I have the same problem.  So my questions are:
-Is it likely that the IP address is the problem for the scanner and how do I fix it?
-If it is the IP address, what can I do to not have to manually change it each time I go to a different location?
-If not, what is the likely problem?  What can I do to fix it?

    Hi,
As you mention "When I installed the software on one of the laptops, I got a message that the driver was already present and suggested I use the existing version already installed.", such a message is common for adding a printer from the Windows Add a Printer wizard, may you added it by clicking add printer under Devices and Printers?
If so, that may explain the issue as the printer should be added via the HP Software for the HP Scan to operate.
Be sure to remove the newly added device first by right clicking it and selecting Remove Device, then reboot your PC.
From the Start menu select HP and open the printer folder. then select Reconfigure your HP device.
Follow the steps on screen to add the printer on your current location and check if that may help,
    Shlomi

  • HP Officejet 8600 Cannot install software because printer is not detected on the wireless network

    Hello,
recently I faced an issue with my new HP Officejet N911a: when trying to install software & drivers, I get an error "printer is not found on the network". Here is my setup and what I tried already:
    - printer is connected to home wireless network (there is solid blue light on the printer etc). It has an IP address 192.168.x.x
    - Windows 7 (64-bit) Lenovo laptop is connected to the same wireless network
    - I don't have any MAC filtering
    - I broadcast my SSID and have WPA-PSK
    - I have default Windows 7 firewall
I was installing the latest drivers from HP website, but when it comes to installation, software never "sees" my printer on the network. I'm able to ping it and access from Windows explorer (by typing printer's IP address \\192.168.x.x).
I can install the printer via "Add printer", and wireless printing works fine, but in this case I'm unable to scan (error message is "Scanner communication cannot be established"). So I assume, that for scanning, I definitely need HP software.
If I connect the printer via USB to my laptop, software installs and I can scan without any issue. However, I would like printer to work wirelessly...
    Does anybody have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I don't have a similar printer to check but for few models the default scan to computer is Disabled, please don't ask me why. And we, users, have to enable this by:
Double click printer icon on desktop,
      Click Manage Scan to Computer,
      Click Enable
You may want to tick the last square too.
New software update may remove this option, please use HP Scan from All Programs > HP > HP [your printer] > HP Scan
    Hope this helps.

  • 6500a e710 a-f - Scanner Communication Error Windows 8.1

We have been experiencing issues with scanning whilst connected via USB, using the HP Scan software. The software returns an error message saying scanner communication cannot be established, half way through scanning. Then HPScan.exe fails to load again. The printer just says “scanning cancelled” on its display.
This is only effecting one model of PC and that is a HP 8300 Ultra-Slim PC.
We are running Windows 8.1 64 bit from an image install. However, I have tested this with a fresh Windows 8.1 retail installation and get the same problem.
We have tried various actions to fix this:
     - Various accounts, admin accounts, domain admin accounts, local accounts etc.
     - Uninstall and reinstall. Basic and Full driver packages including the latest versions
     - Removed all other HP software from PC including registry keys
    - Used built in Windows 8 scan software with basic driver
     - All USB ports tested including 2.0, 3.0 and powered / non-powered
     - Replaced cables
     - Re-isntalled USB bus drivers for 8300
     - Followed the print/scan doctor which shows a driver error - scandriver unable to communicate with product
     - Run HPScan in compatibility mode for 7/XP
     - Updated firmware on printer
     - Installed latest Windows Updates
     - Checked WIA service and dependencies are running
     - Semi and Full factory resets on Printer
     - Shell hardware detection service set to manual
     - We have replaced the printer for an affected user - same issue
     - Also replaced PC for an affected user - same issue.
     - Updated PC BIOS
I have tested connecting the printer to the router with a network cable and then installing printer as a networked device rather than USB and then the hpscan.exe works. So this is only an issue with USB (though it wouldnt be practical to try and talk 200+ users through networking their printer).
As you can see, we have tried almost everything. Interestingly we havent been able to replicate this issue in one of our main offices - despite collecting the same PC and Printer from an estate and bringing it back to an office.
We have also sent out a working PC and Printer combo to an affected estate office and it has not worked there.
Our Estate Offices connected via an ADSL Router and "My Documents" are re-directed to a network location. Could a failure in accessing this network location cause the problems? I have tested connectivity to network store from PC and it accesses the files fine.
Any solutions would be greatly received, I have spoken to HP After Sales support but not received an working solution yet.

    Greetings, @Scammell29
I have read through your post and have very ideas left for you, as you've tried quite the load of troubleshooting!
I am thinking the issue could be power related, so try a power reset and plug the printer in directly to the wall outlet. Avoid power bars, surge protectors, etc. Just a direct plug in to the wall to test the power. Afterwards, see if you still receive the communication error.
If the issue continues, next try a disk cleanup, the instructions are included in this guide: A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning for HP Officejet 650...
If the error still persists, perform a Clean Boot and restart the PC and then disable the Firewall and Anti-Virus scanners.
Please let me know the results!
    Good luck
