I can priint but can not fax or scan. The scanner bar will not more. ?????

Thanks for the post. I can't locate that specific error message, is it possible that it may be an error 55.22? Let us know and if so, then we can work on that one. In the meantime, I'm sending a link for a Diagnostic Utility that will go a long way in helping us to determine why the scanner bar is not moving. Good Luck!

HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP Printer - Communication Failure with the scanner

Dear all,
May I kindly ask if there are any known resolutions in terms of a scanning issue with the HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP Printer?
When it starts scanning the printer only scans the up to the 3rd or 4th page, it stops in the middle of the sheet and produces an error message stating the following: Communication Failure with the scanner.
Are there any steps that may be followed in order to resolve the incident?

I see that you are experiencing a communication error during scanning of multiple pages. I would like to help, but I will need some more information to provide you with the correct steps to resolve this issue.
If you are using Windows, download and run the Print and Scan Doctor. It will diagnose the issue and might automatically resolve it. Find and fix common printer problems using HP diagnostic tools for Windows?
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus Software, just to rule out any interference.
Try scanning again.
What operating system are you using?
How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet)
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
What scanning software are you using?

Sti Error! Video initialize error on HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP

I'm using HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP all in one printer on Windows 7 32bit. When i try to scan a document it gives me an error message Sti Error! Video initialize error on my coputer screen. I have re-installed the printer drivers but the problem still persists. I have also used HP Print and Scan Doctor and restarting the device from power cable, this also did not work. I connected it to another computer with windows 7 64bit and it worked perfectly.
There is however no issue copying or printing only when I try to scan.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I see that you are having issues scanning on the one computer. You are getting the error "Sti Error! Video initialize error".
I would like to help.
It sounds like you are having issues with your operating system.
Did you add any new software or hardware to the computer?
Try scanning with a 300 DPI and saving it as a JPEG, to see if you have the same results.
Try scanning from Paint to see if you get the same error.
What size are you scanning? (DPI)
How are you saving the scan? (PDF, JPEG)
I believe that the error might be a issue with your video card drivers. Update the drivers to see if that will help.
Update the JavaScript and DirectX on the computer.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, did everything have a green check mark, any error messages)
What applications have you tried to scan from?
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

[SOLVED] foomatic-rip-hplip and HP laserjet M1212nf MFP printer

I'm trying to install and configure the drivers for the HP laserjet M1212nf MFP printer to work with CUPS over a wired network using the hplip utilities.
I've installed and set up the printer drivers etc using hp-setup and the printer is appearing in the CUPS interface. The problem is that when trying to print a test page
from the cups interface, I'm receiving the message "/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip-hplip failed"
Has anyone had any experience with this error? what needs to be done to fix this? this is semi-important as I need my printer for work and school.
SOLVED: okay, so I found several solutions that combined seem to have solved my problems.
1.) remove the printer from cups
2.) instead of using 'hp-setup -i <printer-ip> just use hp-setup -i.
3.) have Hal, Dbus, and Avahi up and running (probably my biggest problem, I didn't have hal or avahi installed, and I didn't have dbus running)
4.) unpause printer
5.) pray
6.) print test page.
these steps worked for me (not necessarily in the above order...)

You may scan using the Scan To software, available under All Apps within the Windows 8 Start Screen.

Airprint to HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP from Windows

Hi!
I have a HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP, and connected it to the network via Ethernet, and was elated when I saw that I could Airprint (wirelessly) from all 3 iPhones and the iPad in the family!
I was not very elated when my 3 windows printers can only ePrint by using attached docs to emails, and then only certain formats. I would expect this lack of funtionality from an Apple specific printer, but not from an HP printer!
Through Googleing I saw what I thought was the answer: To fool my PC into thinking it can (wirelessly) print to an airprinter through the network, but nothing panned out as being that...
Really disappointed in HP this time. Any suggestions?

Scanner error 22 message on LaserJet M1212nf MFP

I have a Laser Jet Professional MI212nf MFP printer which I use at the office for photocopying, printing and scanning documents. since last week, it has been showing a scanner 22 error and as such I cannot photocopy anything from it. Kindly help me what do to with it to correct the error.

Installed LaserJet M1212nf MFP on new computer. Prints but wont scan.

I just installed Laser Jet M1212nf MFP printer on a new computer. It installed itself and prints fine. It wouldnt scan so I downloaded the software from the HP website. It still doesnt scan. I don't know what to do next. My computer doesnt pick up the fact that there is a new scanner.

Solved my own problem. the name of the laserjet showed up as 1210 instead of 1212 on my computer. It still isnt working properly, but at least the new computer recognzes the printer. Onto the next problem..

I'm using the excellent HP Printer, but everytime Iturn it on, it asks me to make a "SMART INSTALLATION" if not my PC doesn't beguin to print and the default printer stays in grey color in the Control Panel.
I'm using windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.
I've contact a lot of times to the israeli HP support and they kindly "fix it" by uninstalling and re-installing my printer.
The next time I want to use the printer the same thing happends and asks me to make the Smart Installation.
Today I've got from Windows Troubleshot this error: "Printer HP Laser Jet Professional M1212nf MFP is not shared with the homegroup."
The printer driver installed is: "LJM 1130_M1210_MFP_Full_Solution"
Please help me to fix this troubleshot that is bothering me for more than half an year.

Hi Uzi,
It seems as the HP Smart Install feature is trying to reinstall the printer upon each restart.
Try following this tool by selecting Disable to turn off Smart Install for the printer:

Next reboot the PC and try printing again, as well check if any prompt appears or not.

LaserJet M1212NF MFP "DEVICE BUSY" FREQUENTLY

We have a LaserJet M1212NF and it seems almost after every other fax or scan it says "Device is Busy" and the only way we can clear the message and use the fax machine is to turn it off and wait a few minutes before turning it back on. I have checked the driver and few other things and they seemed to be up to date and normal.

I see that you are experiencing issues with the printer going into a error of "Device Busy" after every other fax, then you have to restart the printer to clear the message. I will certainly do my best to help you.
Check these fax settings on the printer:
Go to setup, (wrench) fax setup menu,OK, fax receive setup, OK, private receive, OK, turn if off.
Go to setup, (wrench) fax setup menu,OK, all faxes, OK, error correction, OK, turn it off.
Go to setup, (wrench) fax setup menu,OK, all faxes, OK, fax speed, set it to medium.
Go to setup, (wrench) fax functions, clear saved faxes, OK to clear.
Test the fax now.
Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Firmware Update Utility.

I have a HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC and I have installed a LaserJet M1212 nf MFP multipurpose machine.
I can send FAX ,I can scan,I can copy but can not print as I get a message asking me to install the driver.
When I answer no, it opens the properties window and when I click on print test page I get a message "Access denied"
If I answer "yes" a wizard opens but I can not find the right driver in the CD
I am administrator on the PC

I understand you're experiencing driver issues. I would like to help!
I would suggest Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once it is uninstalled, I would suggest putting your system into clean boot mode within the Microsoft configuration. You can do so by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Once the computer is in clean boot mode, as administator, I would suggest reinstalling the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer Drivers.

I want to use this printer on network for scanning only. How can i configure this printer as Scan to a network folder. for ex i just put the document in the ADF and press scan, so document should be save on specific network folder but HOW. please advise.

HP Laserjet M1212nf MFP not printing doc in Windows print queue

Printer is connected via USB to a laptop running XP. Prints OK. Have another Windows laptop connected via wireless network, sharing the printer and this prints OK. Am trying to share the printer with a Mac OSX Lion over the wireless network. I can get a doc into the print queue on the laptop hosting the printer but nothing prints. The print queue says it's printing and it does complete and delete from queue, but nothing prints. I have tried attaching the printer as a generic PS and PCL printer when configuring the Mac printer share but get same result. I don't see the drivers for the 1212 in the drop-down list on the Mac when I connect to the printer.

Need help setting up ePrint on LaserJet M1212nf MFP

I've gone to the support website and tried multiple times to go through the steps. Granted, I am not tech savy. I am connected to the printer through my new router and I am on the network. When I put the IP address from the printer into the address bar the website opens but I don't see any tab that says "enable web services". What does the tab or symbol look like?
I also went to the firmware and software update page but there are too many choices that I don't understand. My current firmware datecode is 20100921. My current software driver version is 20100428. Would you kindly furnish me a direct link to the proper update for my printer. I bought this printer new approximately 3 months ago.
I have already registered on the correct website for ePrint, but I need to get an email address generated in order to connect it to my printer in order to use ePrint.
I want to use my iPhone 5 to print occasionally using the email address. Is there any special instructions once I get the email address set up?
