Scanner functionality

Has anyone had any success invoking scanner functions?  I know that I have the ability to access things like the printers and web cams (I've successfully done both), but I haven't seen anything about scanners.
Has anyone seen any TWAIN functions?
Thanks

I still can't use the native scanning took in OSx 10.10, but at least I can scan documents now.
It should. This article says it is supported. OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download
What happens when you open Image Capture?
Do you see the scanner listed under devices?
If so, what happens when you select Overview?
If that works, how about Scan?

  • How do I get my scanner functions back on new Windows 8 laptop?

Finally got my Pixma MX 420 into my wireless network with new laptop and Windows 8.  I can't find the scanner functions like it had before on two of my old computers. How do I get the scanner window back?

    Hi rlhag!
The scanner function is available through the bundled software that comes with the printer.  Since you have Windows 8, you probably needed to download the drivers from our website.  You can download the scanning software, MP Navigator, from our website.  I will include instructions to download below.
Please perform the following to download the software from our website:
     1.  Visit Canon's web site at:
    http://www.canontechsupport.com
     2.  Click on SUPPORT & DRIVERS.  On the Support & Drivers page, select your model in the following manner:
          a.  From the first menu, select PRINTERS & MULTIFUNCTIONS.
          b.  From the second menu, select PIXMA MX SERIES.
          c.  From the third menu, click DRIVERS & SOFTWARE beside the PIXMA MX420.
     3.  Select Windows using the drop down menu SELECT OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION, then select your version of Windows 8 using the SELECT OS VERSION drop down box.
     4.  Click SOFTWARE.
     5.  Click on MP Navigator EX.
     6.  Instructions for completing the download and installation will appear on the page that follows.  You will also see a disclaimer at the bottom.  Review the disclaimer, and click I AGREE - BEGIN DOWNLOAD.
     7.  Once the download is complete, double click on the downloaded file to start the installation.  Follow the onscreen instructions to install.

  • Using Acrobat 9 Standard on desktop running Win 7 32Bit - and an HP1536dnf MFP  -  Scanner function

Using Acrobat 9 Standard on desktop running Win 7 32Bit - and an HP1536dnf MFP  -  Scanner function won't run - message states that driver missing  - have tried to re-load original software many times from CD and download from HP website - that times out.  Have tried many times to load in just driver - won't load-in.  Have tried the unplug from power source and turning off firewall.  Nothing works.  Paid a lot of money for Acrobat and very helpful tool when I was running WinXP, but out of business since loading Win7 . . . . . . . Please help?

That sounds you are having a problem with the scanner driver, not Acrobat.  Are you installing the Windows 7 drivers with the correct bitness?

  • Brother 9320cw Scanner Function Does Not Work

    Hello All,
I am at my wits end and hope that someone out there may be able to assist me.  I recently purchased the HP Touchsmart 520 and have been unable to get the scanner function on my Brother MFC 9320cw to work (the printer works fine).
I was on with Brother support and we did the following:
    1) Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers - from the download at Brother
    2) Stopped and restarted the WIAAC service
    3) Tried to use the plug and play capability to let Windows find the drivers - windows came back with an 'unknown device' message.
    4) Used the machine with different O/S - windows 7 starter - and it worked just fine.  It also worked fine with my old XP PC.
Brother at that point indicated that it was an issue with the system not recognizing the driver for the scanner and said it was an HP problem.  HP begs to differ and indicated that they would try to solve my problem for $60.  Not going to happen.
So I come to this fine group of people, hat in hand, in the hope that someone can help me resolve the problem.
    Thanks for help,
    Marnia

Hp is right not their problem period. Brothers Co. problem yes they are the ones who should be helping you. Here is a link that is the drivers For Windows 7 64bit. computer. http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/us/en/dlf/download_index.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en...
Not always the HP wizard can find drivers. I had to manually find and down load my Blue Tooth devie and Samsung  Modus 3500 head set drivers.
The reason it work for your other computers because the software is for 32 bit computers. Please contact Brother Co. ask them to send you Windows 7 64bit. insulation disks if for some unkown reason this dowload fails. HP company does it for free thats with HP Pinters though.
One more company just passing the buck failing to help customers. Nice printer you have I hope it works.

  • Cannon MP830 can't use the scanner function after upgrading to Mavericks.

I have an Cannon MP830 and now I can't use the scanner function after upgrading to Mavericks.  Can someone help?

There is no ICA driver for this model so you won't be able to use Image Capture or Preview. But there is a TWAIN scanner driver and the supporting MP Navigator application available for 10.8 from Canon, so you could try installing these and see if you can scan again.

  • Does the bluetooth function work with the scanner function on my Photosmart C5550?

I have a new Dell computer and an HP Photosmart C5550.  I use bluetooth to connect to the print. The printer function works correctly but the computer does not recognize the scanner function. Does the scanner function work with bluetooth?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Sorry. I hit post before I could elaborate. Not sure what I was thinking. The Bluetooth connection will only support printing. To use the scan feature you will need to connect the printer using a USB or network connection. Hope that explains it a bit better.

  • Is there any solution for scanner functions in windows8 consumer preview yet? I use HP 8500A AOI

    HP 8500 AOI
    Toshiba Satellite P755
    Windows 8 Consumer Preview
    New Install of W8
Want to know if there is a solution for scanner functions for the HP 8500 in W8.  I understand it is new beta OS and all drivers are not released yet.  I have no problem with printing, but scanner is not recognized from computer, computer not recognized from printer.  Have not found any solution in web search.  Thanks

I suggest for you to wait for the Windows 8 full version to be released. The scanner function will be available then for sure.
    Works every time.

  • Does anyone know if the scanner function will work for an Epson Workforce 840 aio printer using Mountain Lion 10.8.2?

Does anyone know if the scanner function will work for an Epson Workforce 840 aio printer using Mountain Lion 10.8.2?  How is the compatiblity generally speaking?

    Hi,
The Epson Workforce 840 do support scanning on Mountain Lion via Apple Image Capture.
You may find the steps to configure the scanner by following the ICA Scanner Driver section below:

  • HT3669 My Epson Perfection 1200 scanner functions as a flatbed scanner but when I try to scan transparencies the control panels change in  Image Capture but the scanner bar will not complete the overview scan  & cannot travel beyond the first 2/3 centimet

Epson Perfection 1200 scanner continues to function as a flatbed scanner but when I try to scan transparencies/film negs the control panels change in  Image Capture but the scanner bar will not complete the overview scan  & cannot travel beyond the first 2/3 centimeters. All the communications seem to recognise the scanner and the mode for the intended scan but the necessary overview scan is not completed, nothing comes up on the Image Capture scan window. If I unplug the film adaptor I can get a document scan. When I plug in the adaptor again the Image Capture details change which allows me to select the type of scan required but when the scanner attempts an overview scan it is unable to complete it.
I have had the scanner from new (12 Years) and have previously scanned slides and film with the adaptor but maybe this was before I upgraded my computer (imac 27").
Do I have to buy a new scanner?  It seems so close to working correctly.
I have downloaded the Epson recommended driver (5.4) and have Epson Perfection 1200 6.6 Universal showing in the Applications List.
Any thoughts or observations would be much appreciated before I go out and spend money an new hardware.
    Thanks

I have same issue - have you solved this yet?

  • Windows10 wont connect to Scanner function but works with printing function

Just completed upgrade to WIN10.  Printing function works fine -- shows the exact product name HPE 18113 (5520 series)but when I try to scan it tries to connect to HP 5520 series (net) and then says not able to connect.   I've checked everywhere I can think of to see if I can change the from that generic 5520 series (net) to HPE 181113 (5520 series) which how it connected before upgrade & how the printer works. My connection between ALL in ONE printer & PC  is wireless so I tried to go under Network Security setting to enable Webscan BUT it goes to HP page that is not available either!   Help!  Is anyone else having this problem?

I have a All In One 6620, purchased in April 2012 when I bought an entirely new computer system with Windows 8 and my two year old HP printer wouldn't wouldn't work with the new system. I'm having the same problem with the scanner not working now that I have downloaded Windows10. I also can't figure out anything to make it work. It looks like there is no driver available it. That would be my guess as everything I check on the site says everything is up to date and yet, nothing is working.

  • Can the imagerunner 1025 multifunction printer use the scanner scanner function on a 64 bit pc?

I needed to restore our computer to factory settings and now I can't find a scanner driver for our Imagerunner 1025iF.   I have a 64 bit PC running Windows 7.  The install wizard only allows installation of the printer and fax.  Searching the internet for the ScanGear driver only came up with 32 bit drivers which don't seem to work on this computer.  There is nothing on the Canon website.

    Hi Ancientanne!
Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OKCANON (652-2666) and we will be happy to provide dealers who are in your area.

  • Shared HP 3180 scanner function on a SnowLeopard server is not visible in other Lion Macs.

    Hello,
I shared a HP C3180 (Printer+Scanner) on a server running SnowLeopard. While I can still scan from other SL-machines via the preview application, the scanner is not visible from machines running Lion. Printing from Lion is no problem, but it just does not show up as a scanner in the networked devices list of preview and image capture applications. Any idea?
    rgds,
    Frank

Having very similar problem and have not solved it yet. Got some diagnostic info, though.
I downloaded the Bonjour Browser on the Lion Mac. IT can see the scanner service being offered by the Snow Leopard Mac. But the System Perferences - Print & Scan cannot (although it see the printer part of the all-in-one just fine; it works, too). Neither can Image Capture.
For what it is worth, downloaded latest all-in-one driver from the vendor. Vendor says it is for Lion. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Sigh ...

  • C6150 and Win 7 RTM scanner functionality

Okay, did the Vista to Win 7 upgrade, no issues and the printer portion of the C6150 works well. I try to use HP Solution center and it ether get there is no HP product or it just crashes.
I have tried this links suggestion
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=win7Beta&thread.id=148
It loads the software nicely and that is it.
I went to the printer and tried to scan back to the computer and it just goes berzerk.
any idea's short of waiting until Oct. 22? or going backwards to Vista? I use the scanner more than the printer.
    thanks in advance

I should have been more descriptive, it is the MSDN/Technet Win 7, which is reported as the RTM version.
It should be noted, that Windows 7 RTM build 7600.16385 is available to anyone what has been following the RC. It should not be a surprise to anyone that someone has it and more importantly having some issues. I was hoping not to wait until Oct 22 or later for some mfg to get on the band wagon and fix the issues.

  • Scanner function of HP Photosmart C5280 does not work on Mavericks

I have upgraded to OS 10.9. I can print normally with my HP Photosmart 5280 but cannot scan correctly. The scan function seems to start correctly but the document created cannot either be saved or printed (in fact the document saved is a grey page with dark lines). When I initially installed Mavericks, I installed the printer update, and no other update is available.
My other printer, an HP Desjet 3050 J610 now does not even print or scan. What do I do?
PS: I went from Snow Leopard (10.6) to Mavericks (10.9)

My HP Officejet4500 printer's scan function isn't working on my new I-Mac
The document scans and looks correct on screen but when I go to save or e-mail the PDF, it is nothing but black lines.  Is the scanning function of this model not supported via Mavericks?  Do I need to buy a new printer?
