Scanner in cs2
hello-
I just got a G5 with OSX tiger...I am running CS2...i have installed 2 scanners, an Epson 4990 and a Nikon Coolscan 5000...they both work by themselves but I want to use them in Photoshop via the 'import "command...however when I go to file>import...import is greyed out...I have downloaded the latest twain drivers for both scanners...with no luck...I am new to MAC...so maybe I am just missing something.

I haven't received my CS2 upgrade yet, so this is just a probative reply, but is the Import command, itself, grayed out? It should be active even if ther is no scanner installed. What happens if you point to it?
Take a look in Applications:Adobe Photoshop CS2 & make sure there is a Plug-ins folder. In there you should find several folders, including one called Import/Export. There should be a Twain plug-in within it (among others). If anything is missing you may have to reinstall Photoshop unless the missing items can be copied from the install disk (which I doubt) or can be installed individually through a Custom Install.
I have also just now downloaded the PS CS2 trial version and confirmed that it is structured the same way. Also, FWIW, when I launched it the Import command was not only active, but my Epson 3590 was automatically recognized & listed as an available source.

Tengo un problema amigos, el CS2 no me detecta el scanner e incluso me dan problemas otros programas (dicen que el scanner está en uso) cuando con el CS no tenía éste problema y podía scanner como quisiera.

1. Instalé el Photoshop CS (en el cual funcionaba perfecto).
2. Instalé el Photoshop CS2 (en el cual no funcionaba).
3. Desinstalé el Photoshop CS y cuando pide eliminar archivos compartidos (lo pide x una .dll) le puse que no, ke los mantenga en sistema.
Y listo, ahora me funciona perfecto el scanner en el Photoshop CS2 :D
Tal vez el CS traiga un driver o algo que el CS2 no trae, imagino que esa puede ser una posibilidad.

Newly Installed CS5 fails to see my scanner
I had CS5 installed on my old hard drive. At that time, it recognized the scanner on my Ricoh MPC2500. My computer was telling me the hard drive was failing, so I got a new one. I have installed CS5 on the new hard drive, but it does not see my scanner. CS2 on the other hand, does see the scanner. How can I get CS5 to see the scanner? I have, with the help of the Ricoh techs, downloaded what is supposed to be the appropriate driver.
You need to download and install the TWAIN plug-in.

Epson drivers in conjunction to the 10.4.6 update .... Epson 2200 printer
I have a Epson 2200 printer seems something has happened to Epson drivers in conjunction with the recent 10.4.6 update .. getting "jobs stopped " from Epson borderless driver when I try to print anything ...
Any ideas ?

I know Epson 2200 is primarily a photo printer , & I know does not work as a photo printer on airport .. only as a standard text printer a job it does lack luster ..
I know Epson 2200 has multiple drivers , seven drivers in fact .. borderless , roll paper , roll paper borderless .. etc .....
I am guessing something has happened to Epson drivers in the 10.4.6 update .. printer a Epson 2200 printer (& scanner Epson 2450 scanner are unavailable (getting a "could not complete the import command because there is no scanner installed " for the scanner from CS2 )

ibooks Mac OS X (10.4.6)You might try resetting the printing system and reinstalling the printer. I know that when I upgraded my system at one point, the borderless printing driver had been folded into the other driver and was available through Page Setup. So you may be trying to use a driver that has been rendered obsolete.

My first visit to the discussions, with my first problem in a year. Hope someone can help me out.
I loaded Aperture on to my iMac and a few hours later when I tried to open Photoshop it crashed. On opening it failed at the loading twain drivers point.
I have tried to reinstall but get the same failure. Have I deleted some drivers by accident? I have no idea. Greatfull for any help

Photoshop CS2 crashes when importing with Mustek A3 scanner
First off, yes, I know I have an old version of Photoshop. When I got my new Macbook a year or 2 ago I was only able to scan via TWAIN using Photoshop CS2, and it has been the best way.
However, lately the scanning has been buggy. I've had no problems using PS as a whole, but sometimes when I got to Import < ScanExpress A3 USB 1200 Pro it'll scan halfway and crash, or the program will just outright crash. Today I've spent about 2 hours just trying to scan one image. It managed to work once, and now it crashes every time I try scanning.
These are the specs of what I'm using:
Mac OSX 10.6.7
Photoshop CS2
Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB Pro
Any help is appreciated. I need to use this scanner daily for work - If I can't get these images scanned then I don't get paid!

Problem using Epson V600 scanner in Photoshop CS2
The scanner opens its dialogue window, no problem. I can do a Preview scan without any problem, but when I request a Scan, this progresses properly, but the resultant scan is presented in the Photoshop workspace on top of the Epson dialogue windows. At this point all of the Photoshop features are greyed-out so that I cannot move the scanned image to close down the Epson windows. The only way I can make progress is to minimise Photoshop, close the Epson windows and then maximise Photoshop again.
Previously I had an Epson Perfection 3200 scanner which always maintained the scanner windows on top - and so could be closed with a click.
Is there any way to keep the Epson Scanner windows on-top and automatically send the scanned image to the back on Photoshop CS2? This should be simple, but I have tried most things.Yes, but , Search coiuld not find the twain plug -in / >

Photoshop CS2 keeps losing scanner
Users using photoshop keep getting an error saying the scanner is not installed, it usually happens after they scan an image and then go back to scan something else. Doesn't seem to occur if they are using the Epson Scan application rather than Photoshop>File>Import.
I resolve the prob by quiting Photoshop and deleting the Epson Scan prefs in the users library, but this is getting rather tedious.
Any ideas??Is classic on? There is a conflict with classic mode and photoshop scanning. See if that is the problem.

I am a new member who could do with some help and advice with the following problem after installing cs2 on my computer everything works fine for a period of time but then when I try to open the program it tells me that the owners name and serial number cannot be found and the program shuts down
If I reinstall the program everything works fine again but after aperiod of time it happens again I checked through the adobe site and found that this also happens with elements 4 and what to do to cure it but nothing for cs2 any advice please

I have downloaded & installed adobe creative suit cs2 version 6 but when I click the icon of adobe photoshop in desktop it is not opened & giving message " this application has failed to start because " ausba4.dll " was not found. reinstalling of the application may fix the problem " I have reinstall & opened many times but even then it is not opened. Please guide me accordingly.
I'd try disabling the Twain_32.8BA plugin in
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
You can disable the plugin by putting an ~ (tilde) in front of the name or moving the plugin to your desktop.
Then try photoshop cs2 and see if you still get the error message.
I suspect the error has to do with your scanner driver, since photoshop cs2 does not have an ausba4.dll -

I have been using CS2 on my MacBook Pro for more than two years. Just two days ago, the Photoshop application began to UNEXPECTEDLY QUIT every time I opened it. All other apps in the CS2 are working fine. I have NEVER had a problem with the CS2 or this application. I did download a trial of QuarkXpress 9 and a trial of Office for Mac 2011, but that should not have any effect on the CS2. I went to the Apple store and we reloaded my system software (Snow Leopard) and updated back to my original 10.6.8 system but Photoshop keeps quitting. I called Adobe tech support just now and we spent over 90 minutes, re-installed Version Que and still Photoshop keep quitting. We changed the Administrator and that had no effect, Photoshop keeps quitting. There is no common action that causes it. I can be cloning and it will freeze, I can flatten, cut and paste and save, then it quits. Any suggestions? I cannot afford to upgrade to CS5 and I am more concerned WHY this would happen out of the clear blue...I have not added any typefaces. Any suggestions?

Maybe you applied an update to your OS recently?
Illustrator is from a different planet, as are other point applications artificially lumped together into a "suite" by marketing fiat. How other applications behave is irrelevant.
You really, really need to upgrade.
I didn't want to upgrade beyond Photoshop CS4, so I stopped upgrading all my hardware and all my software. Therefore, I experience no problems whatsoever.

Saved Tiffs will not open in CS2 and generate a "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
These files will often open in Photoshop 7.0.1 or in CS1 but not in CS2.
The trouble may be caused by bad dates in the EXIF data and can originate from an incorrectly-programmed digital camera; or from a scan that was created after after Jan1 of this year (because of a known bug in some scanner software).
If someone runs into the "Could not complete your request because of a program error" problem, and does not have CS1, try opening the Tiff in TextEdit.
The EXIF data is right at the top. Check the EXIF data for bad creation dates and change any incorrect ones there.
Save and close; and then the file will probably open in CS2 without a murmur.> If iPhoto causes problems why not open the images from the Finder?
I get the error if I open a file from within iPhoto using "OPen in external editor" and then alter it (or do not alter it) and try to save it over itself, or save it anywhere else.

CANNOT REMOVE OR REINSTALL CS2 "Missing or Invalid Personalization Information"

I am having all kinds of trouble with CS2. My company aquired a copy of the web based version to replace the outdated CS2 product CD we purchased years ago. The copy we got from adobe support is the web based version which is supposed to work with windows 7. It will install fine on a fresh install of windows 7, but when I got to install it on another W7 machine that has previously had CS2/CS5 installed on it, it gets an error any time I try to install the web based version we got. I have removed the previous installations of CS2 and CS5 (this includes the manual removal of CS2 using support docs from Adobe, but somehow the program is still in control panel> program list. The error I get when trying to install on the problem child is "The installer could not start because of the following reasons: Missing or invalid personalization information. Missing resource library.". Like I said I have removed all of the files and registry entries for these programs that I can find manually, but this error keeps halting the CS2 web based version installer, and CS2 is still showing up in the program list, so there HAS to be some files hiding somewhere. This is when a removal tool is just a no brainer... but that is no where to be found on the interwebs. If anyone has any information to put me onto a fix for this WITHOUT reinstalling windows I would greatly appreciate it.

I just encountered a rather annoying problem I don't know how to solve. So far I couldn't find any solution on forums either.
Recently I got the new Intel-based MacBook Pro. Although I had known about the problems beforehand as well as about perfermance issues I now encountered a new problem:
My Photoshop CS2 doesn't render or save fonts properly anymore. They all look wrong.
This problem occured a few days ago and it's only when I create Text layers in Photoshop. When I import Illustrator or PDF files I have no problem but those are pixels or shape objects. The other programmes work fine, no problems with fonts there.
Does anyone know how I can solve this? It's a very big and urgent problem for me as I use Photoshop everyday! Thanks!The fonts look pixelated and jagged. Even when I print or save them and open that PSD document on a different computer they look that way. I only experience this problem in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign are fine. I work on a MacBook Pro and run Mac OS 10.4.8 on it.
So far I tried to delete the Font Cache as well as Preferences and did a Repair Disk Permissions. No luck.
Not sure whether the driver for my scanner (Canon) that I had downloaded and installed might have cause these problems as this problem appeared afterwards.
I did a search for this problem but couldn't find any other suggestion then to reinstall Photoshop under a new user. Unfortunately I don't really see this as a real solution to the problem.
