Scanner is not recognizScanner is not recognized

the scanner is not recognised I have downloaded the latest Readiris software Pro 14 it looks as if the driver for the scanner is not correct?
I  have an HP Officejet 7410 all in one on a Mac using OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

Hi @NeilMcGrath,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I understand you are trying to use the scanner on your HP Officejet 7410 with your Mac running the Yosemite 10.10 Operating system, but it is not being recognized.
To use your HP printer with a Mac running Yosemite, you must install the HP driver provided through Apple Software Update. A full feature driver for Yosemite is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
To get started, click on the link below:

Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.

  • Scanner is not recognized

    Hello all,
    Attempting to use scanner; MUSTEK SE A3 USB 1200 PRO; with new mac book pro 10.8.2 ; this scanner worked fine with iMac 27" 10.4.11; now it's not recognized by macbook; doesn't come up as a device on Image Capture; I know it's not on the supported list but it was great with the imac with no issues.
    Any ideas?
    Thx.

    Hello Joe Freilich. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    Unfortunately, the advanced functions (i.e., copying, faxing, scanning, etc.) of multi-function printer will not be available when connected to the AirPort's USB port, only basic print features. This is because the "drivers" that redirect your computer's USB printer output to the AirPort's USB port are not as "full-featured" as those used when directly connecting the printer to the computer.

  • Hp officejet scanner is not recognized after upgrading to snow leopard

    I tried calling HP twice and was disconnected both time before speaking to someone. The printer works, just the scanner will not work no matter what I do. Any ideas?

    Thanks, but I have fixed it. It is an HP officejet 5610 all in one. I finally found the answer after much searching. The fix was to unplug the printer (power). Turn the computer off for 30 seconds. Reconnect the printer and then turn the computer back on (in that order). Bingo it worked!
    My best,

  • Canon MP560 prints wirelessly ok but scanner is not recognized

    Something is going on with the latest Mac OS. Seems to be only with Intel Macs only.Image capture does not recognize either scanner I have.(Canoscan 8400F also).
    I see others have broken connections other than Canon also.
    Has Apple given an official release about this problem? Some have workarounds that are at programming level,but i'm not going anywhere near that fix. And Twain Sane isn't much of a fix as it doesn't give full capability of scanning like the original program used to run the scanner.I don't want to go through a whole number of steps to get it to work.I don't have Photoshop to make a workaround.
    Here is what my friend had to do to get his new and old one to work:
    "I am okay now, as I have the older CS3 Photoshop now sitting next to the CS4 version, and I've got the older one running in Rosetta compatibility mode and this lets me run the Canon scanner driver in full 16 bit colour mode. If I only wanted 8 bit colour files, I could just use the Canon utility but for working with restorations of old images, you want 16 bit greyscale (for old B&W pictures) or 16 bit colour mode."

    In order to use Image Capture for scanning via USB from either Canon device you may need to update the Canon ICA drivers included with Snow Leopard. The Canon v1.5.1 update can be downloaded via the following link.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100213301.html
    This will update the Canon IJScanner1 package located within the core Image Capture > Devices folder.
    For the wireless connected MP560 I don't believe Image Capture can be used. But you can use Preview or even the MP560 Scanner queue in Print & Fax. You will need to install the Canon MP560 scanner driver listed below.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100204302.html
    With regards to using Preview, to see the networked scanner you will have to click on File > Import from Scanner > Included Networked Devices. Then when you click on File > Import from Scanner again, the MP560 should be shown as an available device.
    Has Apple given an official release about this problem?
    I don't believe there is a known problem with OS X 10.6.4 Image Capture so therefore I would say there is no official release from Apple.
    Some have workarounds that are at programming level,but i'm not going anywhere near that fix.
    I would suggest that the workaround you have seen, especially at a programming level, would be meant for older models of scanners that have no official support from the vendor. But this is not needed for your scanners as Canon has provided drivers that function correctly on 10.6 for the majority of their scanners and AIO's.
    And Twain Sane isn't much of a fix as it doesn't give full capability of scanning like the original program used to run the scanner.
    There is no need to SANE. The following link is the Canon provided scanner driver for your CS8400F.
    http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0900334701.htm
    I don't want to go through a whole number of steps to get it to work.I don't have Photoshop to make a workaround.
    Like SANE, Photoshop is not needed. I am scanning over a wireless network at home with my new MP990 using the Canon MP990 scanner queue without a problem.
    And my LiDE200 connected via USB to my Mac works fine also.

  • Scanner class not recognized

    A little background: I've decided to teach myself java after being given the book "Java Software Solutions" by Lewis and Loftus (fourth edition). I'm reading through it, working the examples. This is definitely a newbie question.
    I'm trying to input some text using the scanner class. I'm running java 5.0, and have no other versions of java running on the computer. When I try and compile the following code, I get the message "cannot find symbol ... symbol: method create(java .io.InputStream) ... class java.util.Scanner ..."
    Here is my code:
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class ScannerTest {
        public static void main(String[] args){
            int a;
            Scanner scan = Scanner.create(System.in);
            System.out.println("Please enter an integer --> ");
            a = scan.nextInt();
            System.out.println("You entered " + a);My class path is set correctly, so that's not the problem. Also, I'm able to use the random class by importing java.util.Random. I've tried to import the entire util class (import java.util.*), but this won't work.
    What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

    Thanks, I have it working now. Frustrating though,
    because the code came STRAIGHT out of the book (page
    129 and throughout).Ought to tell you something about the book... :o)
    It may have been written when 1.5 was still beta - I don't know if that method was available then. It'd be prudent to check the errata online, though. Either way, glad you got it working, and good luck with your progress!

  • Acrobat 8 for MAC, Scanner CanonScan Lide 30 Not Recognized

    Hi,
    I have a problem. I need to create pdf from the scanner but the scanner is not recognized by Adobe Acrobat 8. Does anyone have the same problem? Did you fix that problem? How? any help would be great,
    Thanks in advance.
    George
    PS: I'm using Leopard V. 10.5.5

    Unless your Scanner uses a Twain Driver recognized by, The Mac Computer system and therefore Acrobat. It will not work in Acrobat.
    A work around is to use the SANE/Twain Driver from the S.A.N.E. Project. Google for SANE. It has to do with Scanners. Then locate when you get to site the link for Macintosh and click that.
    choose the components needed for your system Unless you are developer stay away from the SDK's. Install all the components , restart computer, then open Acrobat and and go to section on on scanner and choose SANE device. your now set up to go through procedure to scan

  • Flat bed scanner not recognized

    I connected a ColorPage-Vivid 1200X scanner to see if my Mac would recognize it. Apparently, it knows that it is connected since I get in the device tree,
    1200DPI USB Scanner:
      Product ID:          0x201d
      Vendor ID:          0x0458  (KYE Systems Corp.)
      Version:           5.07
      Speed:          Up to 12 Mb/sec
      Location ID:          0x06200000 / 4
      Current Available (mA):          500
      Current Required (mA):          100,
    connected to a USB port. Now when I run the Image capture app, it says that there are no scanners connected. Thought that driver s/w might be missing, so I went to the TWAIN SANE Interface for MacOS X and installed the corresponding packages (front end and backend), but still the scanner is not recognized. Any ideas to solve this problem are welcome. Thanks.

    melstrom:
    Sorry for taking so long in responding to this problem. I was able to solve the problem with my Genius ColorPage-Vivid 1200X scanner. If you wish you can try what I did. Be aware that my scanner is not a network scanner (as yours is). It is connected to a usb port. Briefly, these are the steps that I followed to have scanning capability in my Mac.
    Install the TWAIN Sane interface for Mac OS-X. I followed all the instructions as explained at the website: http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/, including the package that allows you to modify the SANE preference file using a GUI. A SANE icon will appear in System Preferences.
    Go to System Preferences and double click Sane (for this you may need to administrator privileges). Check in the screen that appears, if your scanner brand or driver shows in the list. Check the configure button for your scanner, which will let you access to the configuration file. Look in the list until you find the specific model of your scanner. Delete the comment character (#) of all the lines associated to your scanner and click OK. Close the Sane screen.
    Get the firmware file of your scanner. It should be located on the scanner installation disk.
    Copy the firmware file above to the following directory:
    /usr/local/share/sane/brand/ (This directory will probably need to be created. For that, you use Terminal with root privileges),
    where brand is the driver name that you found in step (2) above.
    Try the scanner with a scanner app like Image Capture or VueScan.
    Good luck!

  • HP 5470c Scanjet on Windows 7 not recognized / will not initialize

    Scanner first set up on Windows Xp system. New HP p6710f desktop purchased last year with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system which recognized the scanner on USB and worked flawlessly . Recently rearranged the office which required disconnecting the peripherals, and now the scanner is not recognized .
    The product support area on this website says the scanner is not supported on WIn 7 .  How then did it work previously ?
    And why would HP discontinue support for a product that still has a long useable life ? Is this just a ruse to encourage purchase of new products ? Should the baby be thrown out with the wash water ?
    I am not a computer guru , but suspect a 'driver' is needed to get operational again ?
    Thanks in advance for any help offered .

  • Lion does not recognized HP Scanner

    Lion does not recognized HP Scanner.  Lion initially recognized the scanner and it worked perfectly for months.  All of a sudden communications with the scanner stopped. I have checked the USB cable and it is working properly.  I am using Bootcamp and when I boot in Windows the scanner and computer (iMac) work perfectly.  I have downloaded, removed and reinstalled the HP software and update for Lion. When I go into System Preferences > Print/Scan, It sees all other printers and scanners including another HP printer scanner.

    Hi.
    what's your printer/scanner model #? If RRFS' suggestions fail to resolve your issue: try removing the HP drivers from /Library/Printers folder then with device connected directly to your computer, check for software updates, this will push HP software/drivers to your system - install them.
    "do not install drivers from printer/scanner disc"
    After installation, make sure the devices, both printer and scanner show up in system preferences > printers - try scanning. Also check with a native Application like image capture, see if its recognizing your scanner.

  • Umax Astra 1200S scanner (SCSI) not being recognized in OS 9.2.2

    I have a Umax Astra 1200S scanner connected to a Power Mac G4 which is no longer being recognized in OS 9.2.2. I keep getting a message -- "scanner not found."
    The connection is a SCSI connection. I have reinstalled the drivers from the original scanner software CD (Vista) and checked the SCSI cables. The SCSI ID is set to the factory setting (5). I have a terminator in the second SCSI in the back of the scanner--there are no other devices in the SCSI chain. I have made sure that the scanner was on before starting up the computer in OS 9.2.2 (I mostly use OS X version 10.4.3--the scanner has never worked in "Classic"--when I have been able to access the scanner in the past it was by switching the start up disk to 9.2.2).
    How would I check to make sure that the SCSI ID on the back of the scanner is not interefering in anyway --- or does that matter if I don't have any other devices connected to the G4?
    I haven't used the scanner in a while and am not sure whether this problem was caused by installing Jaguar. It might have been.
    Any suggestions as to how to connect?
    Thanks!
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   also using MAc OS 9.2.2
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi, Tumbril. If you have only one SCSI device connected to the computer, it can use any SCSI ID number from 1 through 6, so 5 should be fine. If there are two SCSI ports on the scanner and you have a terminator block on one, termination should also be OK. You say you've "checked the SCSI cables", but you don't say how, or why "cables" is plural — you should only need one cable for your setup. Are you quite certain that the cable you're using is good? Have you tried switching it with another SCSI cable? Had you changed your physical setup in any way that involved disconnecting and reconnecting the SCSI cable just before the problem began?

  • Scanner not recognized in PS CS5

    New install of  PS CS5.  My scanner (HP 8300 Scanjet) is not recognized.  Still have CS4 installed and it is recognized O.K. there.  Any body know why CS5 won't recognize it?

    I have CS5 and both 64-bit and 32-bit versions installed. In the 64-bit version I can access my CanoScan 8800F through the Via interface, which offers a very rudimentary functionality. For instance, when scanning four slides, instead of four images of one slide each, I get a single image of the slide holder with four slides in it. When I downloaded the Twain plugin from Adobe, I could use the full functionality of the scanner, but only in the 32-bit version of CS5 because the Twain plugin does not run in 64-bit mode.
    Best regards,

  • Scanner not recognized by Photoshop

    Hi there,
    I bought a new iMac G5 four days ago only to find Photoshop CS5 was not recognizing the scanner on my two year old Samsung SCX 4500 Printer/Scanner (the printer works fine). I downloaded the most recent Samsung scanner driver (1.0) and Photoshop still doesn't recognize it. Both Preview and Image Capture recognize the scanner which enables me to scan and then upload to Photoshop, but that adds a step I'd rather avoid. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of people are losing printer/scanner compatibility when they upgrade.
    Any thoughts on a fix?
    thanks
