Scanner not detected in photoshop

scanner not detected in photoshop

I just posted a question dealing with PS CS not seeing the scanner. Here's what I posted:
Unable to see scanner using PhotoShop CS for Import
Nov 30, 2013 10:36 PMTags (edit): #mac_os_10.6.8 #  #scanner_problem #drivers?
Epson Perfection 48970 Scanner worked perfectly with iMac using MAC OS 10.6.8 and Photoshop CS. But that iMac was traded in for a new iMac, and now using MAC OS 10.8.5. PS CS is now inoperative for the upgraded operating system. Now working with Macbook Pro, MAC OS 10.6.8, and scanner works perfectly with the laptop, but NOT with Photoshop CS. The Epson doesn't show in the import mode, but the HP Officejet Pro 8500 does, which is a poor scanner at best. I have looked for the answer to this problem, but unable to solve the problem. I don't want to buy an upgrade version of Photoshop CS; I just want to covert some 35mm slides to paper photos, etc.

    Hi LillyTeddy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some scanning issues.
I suggest that we start off by simply running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Please let me know if you see any error codes or messages.

  • Scanner not recognised in Photoshop CS3

My Canon 9950F scanner is recognised in Photoshop CS2 but not in Photoshop CS3. I've deleted the driver and reinstalled but still the same issue. Any ideas?

Scanner drivers are usually very sensitive to different versions of applications and the system itself. First thing to do is to go to the scanenr providers website and look for newer drivers and download and isntall the latest ones and not use the old ones that once upon a time came with the scanner. Installation of scanner drivers are often tricky and you have to follow the instructions provided to the letter. We ahd an issue at work with an Epson scanner driver and Photohsop CS2. Installation and features worked just fine on on G5 - but not on another with identical system. Go figure. In the end we cloned the entire machine with the working installation (user is on homeserver on network which doesn't interfere with content on the machine itself) to the other one and then it worked there as well.
Or get VueScan from http://www.hamrick.com/ - supports most scanners in many versions.
Edit: I doubt that scanner providers already have scanner drivers for Photoshop CS3.

  • Scanner not detected in PSE 12 organizer

I used PSE11 before and i use a scanner (canon 4200F) to import some old pictures and other documents. Now i have installed PSE12, but i was surprised that my scanner is not detected, so i cannot import anymore with my scanner. How can i fix this problem?

Microsoft Office does not support import by scanner or TWAIN  devices
Wow, that really surprised me when you said that, because it always used to. So I had a look at my Word 2010 (where I have the free 'Classic Menu' add-in installed). Under Classic Menu it is still there under Menus> Insert> Illustrations> From Scanner or Camera. But nowhere could I see it under the standard Word Menu's or Ribbon bar.
It is still in there though. I found it in the ribbon customization options choosing commands from 'All Tabs'. Accessible then from Menus> Toolbars> Insert> From Scanner or Camera. Phew!!!
Anyway, glad to hear XNView worked for you, but still surprised that PSE12 doesn't see the scanner as either WIA or TWAIN (as you said you had followed the linked instructions in 99jon reply #1). I can only assume that Adobe changed the way they identify scanners for v12.

  • Scanner not recognized by Photoshop

    Hi there,
I bought a new iMac G5 four days ago only to find Photoshop CS5 was not recognizing the scanner on my two year old Samsung SCX 4500 Printer/Scanner (the printer works fine). I downloaded the most recent Samsung scanner driver (1.0) and Photoshop still doesn't recognize it. Both Preview and Image Capture recognize the scanner which enables me to scan and then upload to Photoshop, but that adds a step I'd rather avoid. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of people are losing printer/scanner compatibility when they upgrade.
    Any thoughts on a fix?

  • Scanner not detected - Canon Imageclass MF8350 Cdn

    Hi,
Can anyone help me?  I  have Snow Leopard Mac OS 10.6.8, and I am trying to install my multifunction Canon printer.  It detects and prints fine, but it won't detect my scanner or fax.  I have no hard line for the fax - I use CableVision's wireless router for phone and internet.  Is there a way for me to use either function (scanner or fax) with my Mac?
I have an older Canon stand-alone scanner, Canoscan N1240U, and it won't detect that either...
    Thanks.

    gabodeno wrote:
Thanks.   This is what the CableVision guy said to me when I asked about connecting to the modem.  I was trying to connect wirelessly to the modem; I can't do that, according to him.  I still need a RJ11 phone line, with the analog to digital converter to connect to the modem.  Only then can I use the fax.
That is correct. The fax is designed for analog connections so there would be need to be a physical connection from the RJ11 connector on the fax to the public phone network or to the A/D converter to use your digital line.
I have "Bluetooth DUN" as my current default fax machine.  How do I use it?  Can it be used instead of the fax part of the Canon, and then I could probably scan a PDF into my MAC and let Bluetooth DUN fax it out?
The Bluetooth DUN (short for dial up networking) is a way in which you can use your mobile phone to send faxes from your Mac. Not really ideal if you want to send faxes often.
With your setup a better option would be to use a Fax service provider. You basically email the documents you need to be faxed to the Fax company along with the destination fax numbers.

  • Plustek OpticSlim 2600 scanner not detected by scanimage

Was anyone able to make this scanner work?
I have installed sane-gt68xx-backend (which technically doesn't say it supports the 2600 model - only 2400) and I get the following output from sane-find scanner:
    found USB scanner (vendor=0x07b3, product=0x0467, chip=GT-6816?) at libusb:006:002
Then, however, when I run scanimage -L there are no devices detected (tried both as user and as root).
If any one of you managed to make this thing running in Arch, then please, share your expertise. :-)

I ran into something like this getting my neighbor's scanner working on his Linux box. But that was a couple of years ago... and my memory sucks... so don't rely on any of the following...
Since the sane-gt68xx-backend package hasn't been updated since 2007, his scanner also wouldn't work right away.
In my case I had to use the Vendor-ID and Product-ID to get the real manufacturer and model of the scanner. Even though the scanner had it's own name/model, I found out the "guts" of the scanner was actually made by Plustek (I think). But that's not the problem in your case.
But... I did need to add the Vendor ID (yours is 0x07b3) and Product ID (yours is 0x0467) to one of the Sane configuration files (was it /etc/sand.d/gt68xx.conf ???).
Then, one of the logs (syslog???) started complaining about not being able to find the scanner firmware. This is where it got fun
In an attempt to refresh my very poor memory, I just tried the following steps using your scanner info...
I went to http://plustek.com/ and downloaded the Windows device driver for the Plustek OpticSlim 2600, and then unzipped it in an empty "junk" directory.
Then I installed the "unshield" package on my Arch Linux box. Next, I used unshield's "-d" parameters and "x" command to extract all the files inside the data1.cab file to another empty directory. I think you'll find scanner's firmware file at /DRV_71QU/cis3R5B1.fw in that directory you extracted the files to.
In my case I then had to copy that firmware file to the /usr/share/sane/gt68xx directory.
Then the scanner actually worked rather well.
    Good luck!

    ACROBAT Xi PRO
    CANON MG5200 printer/scanner
When I connected the Canon printer scanner to my new macbook pro Acrobat does not show the printer scanner in the import from scanner menu option.
I had this problem previously with Acrobat's really irritating messing around with scanners but cannot remember how I solved it.
Does anybody have some sensible advice please?
PS ADOBE, why on earth don't you sort this out, your users have FREQUENT need for quick and easy scanning.

    Hey Paul,
Firstly, I would recommend you to please check for Acrobat updates to run the latest patch i.e. 11.0.10
An out-of-date version of scanner might result in scanning issues. So, please reinstall the latest scanner driver for your particular scanner model from the manufacturer's website and then try again.
If it still does not work, then please try logging in to new administrator account, open Acrobat and check.
For instructions, refer: Install or run Adobe applications in new user account | Mac OS X
Let me know if this helps.

    Quit Photoshop if it's open.
Open your Applications folder then control or right click:  Adobe Photoshop CS5

In the Get Info panel select:  Open in 32 bit mode
    Launch Photoshop and try scanning.

  • HP Officejet Wireless 4500 g510 n-z Scanner not detected

Hi!  My husband and I purchased a new computer about a year ago and ever since then our HP officejet wireless printer, fax, scanner has not been fully functional.  I have it attached to the CPU through USB.  I have gone through all the driver downloads and software multiple times to no avail.  My computer still doesn't recognize the scanner.  I even downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and it recognizes my product, it then tells me that "The full software solution for your product is not installed on this computer."  Then I attempt to install the software and it says "download failed."  Arghhhhh!  What do I need to do to have a fully functional 3-in-1 printer on my computer.  The product worked just fine on our previous computer but now I can't figure it out!  Please help!  Much gratitude!!!! Sarah

Welcome to the HP Forums Sarah, aka , I saw your post about the installation issues you have had with your Officejet 4500 Wireless on your Windows 8.1 system, and I would like to help! I am going to start my suggestions with performing a more "in depth" uninstall to clear out all of the printer files, restart the PC, and try downloading and installing again. Please respond back to me with the outcome!  Go to the tiles screen, (start up screen)Start typing %temp%, open the folder starting with 7z, (Example: 7zS2356) Util, ccc, Uninstall_L3.When the uninstall has completed restart the computer.Delete all files you can from the temp folder. (Go to the start up screen, (tiles menu) type %temp%. Delete everything listed.)Now download and run the Full Feature Software installation from here: HP Officejet Full Feature Software and DriverTry printing and scanning. Good luck  I hope this helps!Thank me for this reply by clicking the thumbs up icon below!

  • Epson RX530 scanner not detected

I have just connected a Epson stylus RX530 to a airport time capsule, the printer compatability listing states that scan and print should work, S/W updates all up to date.  When the RX530 is connected via USB to the mac both print and scan works, when connected to the timecapsule only the print function works.  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. Only the print function will work if you have your Epson device connected to the USB port on the Time Capsule......unless......something has changed in the last few days and Epson is now providing full feature drivers to allow the scan functionality.
To date, to our knowlege, no printer manufacturer has provided full feature drivers to Apple for their devices when used at the USB port of the AirPorts or Time Capsule. You might want to check with Epson support for clarification to see if they plan to provide full featured drivers for USB network use.
Chances are, the info you have is talking about functionality when connected directly to the USB port of a computer, not a network hookup via USB.

  • TS3147 installed Canon MF4570dw multifunction printer, it prints and copies but scanner not detected. How do you install scanning function?

Downloaded drivers installed MF4500w series. But software and OS does not setect scan function

First of all you need to set the MF scan components online. Press the Scan button and then select Remote.
Then on the Mac, open the MF Toolbox software, which will have been installed when you downloaded and installed the ScanGear v1.51 software, and select one of the buttons like Save. From the next window that appears, change the Original Placement menu to ADF or Platen - depending on where you have loaded the paper - and then press the Scan button. This action should scan the document to your Mac.

  • Photoshop CC 2014.2.1 not detecting my dedicated GPU

When I open Photoshop, I get the following error message:
"3D features require a minimum of 512MB of vRAM. Photoshop has detected less than that on your system.
Updating the driver of your graphics card may resolve the issue."
I am running a laptop PC with an integrated graphics card (Intel HD4600) and a dedicated Nvidia GTX 675M with 2 GB of vRAM.
I switch between the two adapters with the press of a single button, for power-saving purposes.
I always run at high-performance with the dedicated GPU active when running Photoshop.
I run the latest driver from Nvidia, and in the Nvidia control panel I manually set the preferences for Photoshop to utilize the dedicated GPU. But it still does not detect my main graphics adapter.
I checked the system information in Photoshop and cannot make sense of it. Why would it be unable to detect the GPU when every GPU demanding software I have run so far (a lot) have been able to..
I have checked google and the very forums and found the problem in various forms with no real solution for it so far. Hopefully someone on these forums can help, considering I am paying a monthly fee for the program and the support that comes with it

But as mentioned in my initial post, I deactivate the integrated graphics adapter when using Photoshop, or any software that demands decent graphical processing power.
I only have it activated when in power-saving mode. And of course I update to the newest display drivers via the GeForce Experience or through their website.
Point is, I have never had any problems with any software whatsoever in detecting the proper GPU and utilizing it's power. The only software unable to register my dedicated video card is Photoshop.

    So I upgraded to Photoshop CC 14.1  Mid 2009 Macbook, 10.8.4 6GB ram/NVDIA 9400M GPU 236 MB ram.
When I launch PS by itself, my GPU is detected. If I double click on a file, there is a delay in opening and I get this message:
All my OpenGL functions are disabled. So now what can be done to get my GPU working as it did in 14.0?
I'll guess I'm out of luck since NVDIA doesn't issue updated drivers for my GPU.
Just tell me what logfiles you need and how I can get them for you. I'm thinking maybe 14.1 is too much for this system and I'll have to dial back if this is not a bug.
