Scanner not recognising computer

I have an hp5520 all in one printer and an hppavilion250 laptop. I have been scanning photos regularly over the last month using paint programme. Last night I couldn't get the scanner to recognise the computer - the printer says 'computer not found. The printer facility is working fine. Can you help.

  • 2545 driver pmhpcl1.inf missing, Windows 8, scanner not recognised (one computer)

I have a WiFi "Ink Advantage 2545" and 2 * 64-bit Windows 8.1 PCs.  Printer works both.  However, scanner not visible on 1 only.  Checked device properties, events on both... functional computer has 2 drivers installed pmhpcl1.inf and hpvyt11.inf, non-functional computer has 1 driver installed hpvyt11.inf...
I cannot find any reference to the missing driver.  I have tried ninstalling, restarting, re-installing, etc several times without success.

    Hello @ANU_alan,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the scan issue that you're experiencing when attempting to scan with your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-One Printer to one of your Windows 8.1 computers. Thank you for mentioning in your post that you did notice a difference with the .inf files that are installed on both the working computer and the non-functioning computer.
At this point I would like you to start troubleshooting by clicking here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on the problematic computer and 'fix scanning' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connection conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
Please take note of any error messages or failures that the HP Print and Scan Doctor may find.
Please respond to this post with the result of running the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Good luck!

It was working under other distros and strangely it works on w2k in virtualbox.
Maybe a permissions issue? Any ideas?

    Permissions are correct:
    /peter@mesh:~$ ls -lR /dev/bus/usb
    dev/bus/usb/005:
    total 0
    crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 512 2008-02-24 08:15 001

    crw-rw-r-- 1 root scanner 189, 514 2008-02-24 10:01 003
Changing permissions in /proc doesn't help either:
    peter@mesh:~$ chmod a+rw /proc/bus/usb/005/003
sudo scanimage -L still only picks up the tv card. Any other ideas? Thanks!

  • Canon scanner not recognised after Mac wakes up.

    Hi
I have been using a Canon LIDE 60 scanner since I bought my eMac 4 or so years ago. It's always worked fine.
But since upgrading to Leopard a few months ago I've been having trouble with it.
What happens is that after the Mac goes into deep sleep mode (it's set to have the hard drive sleep too) and the scanner is not recognised after the computer wakes up.
I get an error message when I open up a TWAIN program (CanoScan Toolbox or Image Capture) saying that there is no scanner available.
Sometimes, usually actually, if I disconnect the USB cable and then re-attach it the scanner becomes available again. But sometimes not.
I have what I believe to be the most recent driver for this scanner, dl'd recently from Canon's web site. First I uninstalled the old driver and then restaterd my eMac before installing the new driver.
I'm using whatever version of Image Capture came with Mac OS and I'm using CanoScan Toolbox version 4.9.3.4 (version 5.0 does not work at all).
Any way to get this to stop happening?

  • Scanner not recognised in Photoshop CS3

My Canon 9950F scanner is recognised in Photoshop CS2 but not in Photoshop CS3. I've deleted the driver and reinstalled but still the same issue. Any ideas?

Scanner drivers are usually very sensitive to different versions of applications and the system itself. First thing to do is to go to the scanenr providers website and look for newer drivers and download and isntall the latest ones and not use the old ones that once upon a time came with the scanner. Installation of scanner drivers are often tricky and you have to follow the instructions provided to the letter. We ahd an issue at work with an Epson scanner driver and Photohsop CS2. Installation and features worked just fine on on G5 - but not on another with identical system. Go figure. In the end we cloned the entire machine with the working installation (user is on homeserver on network which doesn't interfere with content on the machine itself) to the other one and then it worked there as well.
Or get VueScan from http://www.hamrick.com/ - supports most scanners in many versions.
Edit: I doubt that scanner providers already have scanner drivers for Photoshop CS3.

  • Officejet 6700 - printer works ok but scanner not recognised by computer

I have had my HP Officeject 6700 printer for 2 years and the printer works fine but now whenever I try to use the scanner it fails to work with a message 'we can't find a scanner attached to your PC' Have downloaded the HP doctor diagnostic but does not seem to do anything. Can anyone help?

Hi there @HpNepal , welcome to the forums
I understand your printer is not detected over your wireless network from your computer. Although you mentioned you have done some troubleshooting, I would also suggest trying the steps from the guide I have found and posted for you below. The printer should be found if all steps are completed in order. Good luck!

  • Xerox - 4800 one touch scanner not recognised by my mac mini ???

HI I have just moved to Mac from Windows. Previously I used a Xerox - 4800 one touch scanner, I plugged it into a free usb port on the back of the mac mini and nothing.
Where on the system can I see if the mac recognises it? I have tried vuescan, but they don't even list the xerox models.
    Thanks

did you install software for the scanner? you can tell if the computer is recognizing the device by going to the blue apple and then "about this mac". then click on more info. the scanner should be listed with your usb devices. if it is not recognized, then try a pmu reset. if you have a power pc mac mini, the instructions are here. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300574. if you have an intel mac mini, the instructions are here. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303446. let me know if that works. • HP Scanjet Professional 1000 Mobile Scanner not recognised snow leopard

    hi
I have purchased a HP Scanjet Professional 1000 Mobile Scanner
The scanner however does not seem to work with ANY recognised scanner software for MAC.
I have expensive Readyiris and Adobe X software with scan functionality but the scanner does not get recognised.
On the windows CD I found one folder with MAC drivers. it installed a really basic HP scan program which is really bad..
    Is all lost....?

I assume you have tried Image Capture and Preview?  Have you tried to reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Apple tv not recognising computer

I want to see my holiday photos on my tv by via the apple tv box. I have switched on home sharing and on the tv the photos show in photo streaming but my computer is not being recognised by the apple tv.

2 things that can cause a long download time
    1. your internet connection is not fast enough
    2. apples server is not powerful enough to service all clients at one time
think to get quick download you need a 10Mbit/sec connection or faster

  • Canon MP600 Scanner not recognised

OSX 10.8.4 does not recognize my scanner in the Canon MP600 anymore plase advise why this is and how to correct it

Look in the HD/Library/Applications Support/Canon folder.  That's where the driver for my Canon printer is located. If you install it for only the current user and not all users it might be in the Users/Home/LIbrary/Application Support/Canon folder.
For other files for the printer look in the HD/Library/Printers folder.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Scanner not recognised

    Hi there
I am new to Mac. My Epsom printer is also a scanner. the Mac sees the printer and I print ok, however it does not see the scanner, all I get is No image captive device found. The mack will not load the CD which came with the printer. Any ideas?
    Please help

Hi there, thanks for the help, I am very new at all of this.
The Epson is a CX3700 all-in-one about 3-4 years old. The CD is only for windows.
My Mac is an MB324A OS X 10.5 Leopard. I've had it for a month. The Epson site does not even list CX3700 range. Maybe just time to get a new all-in-one. Even though this one works perfectly well.
    Any ideas greatly appreciated
    Thanks

In the Get Info panel select:  Open in 32 bit mode
    Launch Photoshop and try scanning.
