Scanner not working with HP PSC 1210xi

I bought an HP PSC 1210xi All-In-One printer/copier/scanner off craigslist recently and I'm having trouble getting the scanner to work. I downloaded whatever driver I needed for printing and printing and copying are working perfectly. When I tried to scan, the on button, printer cartridge, and ink button blink simultaneously- I looked this up- it means scanner failure.
I've tried searching the forums and HP to find what I need to fix this but can't see to find the right thing. My operating system is OS X v10.5.8. please help!

The scanner on this model of HP is not supported in Leopard. I looked all over for the answer and found that only printer drivers are available. I've switched to a different machine for scanning.

  • Why does my scanner not work with Yosemite

My father upgraded to Yosemite but now can't get his scanner to work with it.  How can I advise him?

I have talked at length to Canon. Their support is normally very responsible and competent, but in this case, they say that they don't know if or when there will be a fix to the problem. All they suggest is that you download the drivers and reinstall them. They also suggest that you repair your disk permissions.
The problem is that after the first scan, the software tries to locate the scanner. After 90 seconds, there is a message saying that the scanner is in use by another application. Once you reply OK to that message, you can scan another document. So, it works, if you consider scanning a document every 90 seconds working. I don't.
The problem may well be Apple's, but resolution requires that Canon and Apple talk. They don't seem to be.

  • Lexmark P6250 scanner not working with iMac after recent software update, any ideas?

The scanner has always worked with the iMac but after a recent software update only the printer works now.  I have searched the apple communities boards and have downloaded a variety of drivers suggested but nothing has solved the issue.
When I load print and scan from system preferences, I select to open the scanner and the process just hangs.   I can see the scanner and am able to select to open but not able to scan.
Any ideas on how to resolve?

Unfortunately I have tried this and I have downloaded new drivers and restarted both the iMac and printer/scanner numerous times but I still only have the printer working.
I have tried to use preview via system preferences, print and scan and the when I select open scanner for preview the application hangs.  I have also tried to use image capture and there is an error when selecting the scanner device of "Lexmark Language Error".  When selecting overview within image capture I am advised that the size tryng to be scanned is too large when nothing has been selected and the default setting are standard size and then image capture hangs.
All features were working fine prior to conducting a software update about 8-10 weeks ago.  I have downloaded further software updates which I had hoped would sort this issue but it hasn't.

  • HP 3050 Scanner not working with Windows 7

My HP 3050 worked fine with XP. Now that i have a computer with Windows 7, the scanner will not work. I called HP, and they do not have a fix, and their Windows 7 computer with HP 3050 scanner works the same way. Do you have any suggestions?

    Hi Donaldparis,
After researching from the HP website, I realize that they do not release the HP LaserJet 3050 All-in-One Printer driver for Windows 7. It means that you will install the Windows 7 built-in basic driver and use the basic features. For more information about how to install the basic driver, you may refer to the following link:

If it does not work, you may also try to install the printer driver for Windows Vista under compatibility mode.
Install driver under compatibility mode & Administrator level
    ==================================
1.Right click on the exe file for driver and click Properties.
    2.Click on the Compatibility tab.
3.Select “Run this program in compatibility mode for.”
4.Choose Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the drop down list.
5.Select “Run this program as an administrator” option under the Privilege Level topic.
    6.Click Apply, click OK.
    7. Please double click on the exe file again.
    Good luck!

  • Scanner not working with new software?

Recently I bought and updated my computer with Snow Leopard. But when I went to do my first scan after updating, HP Photosmart told me that it could not find my scanner. Before, I came here to find a way to connect my scanner to my mac and I received a download and installed it. What do I need to install now to make my scanner work with my computer?
Oh, and the scanner I have is a HP Deskjet F300 Series

    bimms4 wrote:
The only additional issue is that I am connected via wifi.
    Any suggestions please?
I think that's your problem. I've got a wifi printer (Brother) that works great in every way - except scanning via wifi. In order for scanning to work it has to be connected via USB or ethernet for it to be recognised. Shame, needing a cable just for scanning purposes.
I expect there are some wifi printers/scanners out there that work completely wirelessly but it doesn't include mine or the few HPs I've set up elsewhere.

  • Epson scanner not work with Mountain Lion?

I have an Epson Expressio 1600Pro scanner with transparency adaptor. It has worked perfectly with previous Macs using OSX 10.4. I have recently bought a MacBook pro and upgraded it to OSX 10.8. I went to Epson's website to get a new driver etc. That tells you it can only be downloaded via Mac Software Update. That was duly done and installed. System prefs lists it under printer and scanners. OK
I have also installed Photoshop Elements 11 and expected to be able to scan direct to there but nothing seems possible. Going to Help says use Image capture or Preview. Yes! there is a small very rudimentary scanning window appears in both apps. Now the problem! Nothing happens. I have tried ALL the various meagre settings on offer, changing size, resolution, custom etc and all that happens is a small rectangle of a scan occurs but no resulting file.
I have been on to Epson who say ONLY image capture will work with 10.8 but as it is a 3rd party software they can offer no assistance. Well image capture does NOT work. I have spent all afternoon trying various things like restarting, unplugging, reconnecting etc etc nothing.
10.8 does seem very buggy. I have even had to stop using Mail and Safari simply because it doesn't work whereas Thunderbird and Firefox work very well.
But I digress, does anyone have any thoughts please?

The following comments are based on installing an Epson RX700 All-in-one printer/copier/scanner so they may not be applicable to you but, for what it's worth here they are. The RX700 scanner worked perfectly with Snow Leopard and then Lion but, when I changed to Mountain Lion, and used the app store to download and install the drivers, I lost the Epson scanner utility (ie. the user interface that gives you all the scanner options).
However, if I used System Preferences and then the Print and Scan option, it brought up a small window where I could select either Print or Scan. Selecting Scan or Open Scanner from this window then opens up a window with all the scanner options in it, including an overview scan. This window has the option to either Hide Details (all the detailed scanner options - resolution, size, output file name etc) or Show them. As far as I can see, this window is actually the Image Capture app, although it doesn't say so.
It might be a long shot but try changing the Auto Selection box in this window to one of the other options (eg. "Detect Separate Items") or setting the "Scan to" to a file.

  • Epson Perfection 2450 scanner not working with Mavericks

My Epson Perfection 2450 scanner stopped working when I upgraded to Mavericks, it is not recognizing the scanner. Tried restarting, using a different USB cable, a different USB port, etc...with no luck. The issue is that my computer no longer seems to recognize that I plugged it in. Tried it with Image Capture, Photoshop, Preview and even the old Epson software.
I tried downloading the Epson Scan Patch for Mavericks released on Oct 31, 2013. That did not help either.
I'm on a MacBook Pro running Mavericks version 10.9.3.
Love this scanner and don't want to have to buy another. Any help to get my Mac to recognize it would be greatly appreciated.

    Syd,
My wife's iMac with 10.6.6 stopped working with her Epson 2480 Photo scanner. Get the error message "SCANNER reported an error. An error has occurred during scanning" I am trying to use it from the Image Capture App or from the print/fax option in Settings which opens Image Capture. I ran the uninstall program and then reinstalled the ICA 13969 .dmg but get the same error. Not sure what else I can do.

While it is written for printer troubleshooting, the steps outlined in the article below can be used to troubleshoot scanner issues as well. I would recommend starting there.

  • HP C7200 printer/scanner not working with Mac after new router installed.

I recently had my DSL modem go out and replaced it with a combo modem/wifi router. Since the install, my mac can't detect my printer. If I install it via the printer's IP, it'll detect ink levels for a day or two, but still won't print, and won't even detect the scanner. It says the printer is off-line when I try to print. I've rebooted everything, reset the printing system, downloaded updates, and downloaded the latest HP software. Nothing helps. So much for "just works".
My little Windows 7 computer was totally trouble-free after I reinstalled the printer.

If the printer does support Bonjour and it does not appear in the Default Add Printer view then I would say that the Mac is set to a different subnet to the printer (and the Win7 PC). This could also explain why you can add the printer via IP but it won't print.
If the Mac is definitely on the same IP subnet as the printer then check you don't have an application running that could block Bonjour.
With regards to IP queues, ensure you select HP Jetdirect rather than the default of IPP (Win7 will be using Jetdirect which is known as Port 9100). Also, some drivers cannot be used with network connections. If the printer supports Postscript then try a Generic Postscript printer to test. If it doesn't support PS but supports PCL then there is a Generic PCL Laser driver you would try.

  • HP printer/scanner not working with 10.6

I have a late 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.6.2. The printer, an HP 2350 All-in-One, was working, but the scanner was not. Then the printer stopped working. I got an "error" message in the print queue box. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, downloaded updated software, deselected and reselected the printer (in which I received the message some software was missing), did all the various unplugging, replugging, etc., etc. The scanner gives the message that another program is controlling the scanner. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Now instead of "error" in the print queue it says "printing", but nothing happens.

I've been struggling with the same **** problem for a week. I reformatted twice and reloaded my files with migration assistant and it still didn't work. Then I tried a 3rd fresh install, upgraded to 10.6.3 and loaded the HP drivers/software. Voila! IT WORKED.
Here's the kicker, I reloaded my software and files via migration assistant again and logged into my old profile. Then I tried to print and scan. Nothing, it was the same problem as before. But then I logged out and went to the freshly made account and it scans and prints just fine.
Going back to my old account, I deleted all the HP preferences in my user library and now everything works!
So here's the tip. Go to User (your user account) > Library > Preferences. Delete all instances beginning with com.hp.
Start up your scanner software again and it should work fine!

  • Canon pixma mp500 scanner not working with mac osx 10.6.8

I'm having difficulty using my scanner. I've updated the Canon driver with the most recent version. It recoginises the printer/scanner but won't import image. Has anyone had a similar issue and successfully resolved it?

duncan, I've got an MX 880 series all in one printer, and have the same issue.  A work around that I use is to select "e-mail" the scanned item. The scanned item is then inserted into an e-mail format where I can choose to download/save the scanned document into whatever folder I want.  This was the only expedient method I could find.  The Canon software capability between some of their newer printers and Mac operating systems is not totally compatible. For example, sometimes the top half of a line of text gets printed on one page, and the bottom half of the line gets printed on the ensuing page.  Doesn't happen often, but it is annoying.

  • Canon scanner not working with MacBook Pro.

I wonder if anyone is able to help. I recently bought a Canon MG5550 Printer/Scanner and I am having trouble with scanning. When I press the scan button on the printer nothing happens, not evening a warning message. I have tried using a cable and this hasn't improved the sitation. When I go onto Preview, I can select "Import from Canon MG5550 Series" under "File" but I get a message saying that the software for this device hasn't been downloaded, even though it has. I notice that on this page the MG5550 isn't recognised, and I wonder id this could explain the sitation http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#canon-inkjet. Anyone know any way around this?

  • HP Scanner not working with Lion?

The print function is fine but the scanner won't work.  I have tried removing the printer and reinstalling, but that didn't work.  Any ideas?

That older printer apparently does NOT have a compatible Lion driver.
People who need to SCAN & PRINT without a compatible driver from their manufacturer can use Apple's very basic "PRINT & SCAN" utility in System Preferences:
Click the Apple menu ( ), and then click System Preferences .
    Click Print & Scan ( ).
Click Scan , and then click Open Scanner .
Click Show Details . The details of the scan display, including options to modify scan settings such as output type.Figure 2: Example of the Show Details scanning screen
Change any settings as necessary, and then click Scan .

  • Canon MG5250 Scanner not working with OSX 10.7.2 HELP PLEASE

I have tried to get my canon mg5252 multifunction to scan, im using OSX Lion 10.7.2, I have tried downloading the canon drivers (mp 4.0.3 and ica driver 1.9.0) but still cant get it to work !
Any help is greatly appreciated !
    Thanks

Uninstall the device using Canon's instructions. Then assuming you are using a USB connection to connect it to your computer restart the computer in Safe Mode to clear some caches. Then restart the computer normally. Then connect the printer to the computer via USB and turn on the printer. The printer should then be seen in the Print & Scan preferences. If not run Software Update. To scan use Image Capture (it's preloaded on your computer) and scan using the Image Capture tool.
If you still have trouble then follow the instructions in Printing Overview OS X Lion.
