Scanner on Canon Multifunction Pixma 830

Just bought a MacMini, installed my Canon Pixma 830, scanner doesn't work. Works fine on Mac Pro both with same operating system. Works fine on my Windows XP machines. Both Apple and Canon say this specific multifunction is supported by their software. Have tried downloading from Canon's site, original disc, and other scanner software!
Trying to migrate totally to Mac but this is a big frustration.

Looking at the specs for this model, it appears it only has a USB port - no Ethernet. So, in order to be printing and scanning from the Mac Pro, I am assuming you have connected the MP830 to the MacPro via USB and sharing it to the other computers.
If this is the case, then you will not be able to use the scanning function on the Mini as the software/driver does not support this type of connection. Actually, I'm surprised XP is scanning with this type of connection...
Note also that if you are using an Airport base station or some third-party print server, you often cannot scan when the machine is connected to its USB port, due to limitations with this port.

  • Help resolving printing problem with v10.6.8 and Canon MP780 PIXMA

    Hello,
My Canon MP780 PIXMA stopped being able to print text in black some months ago and having scoured the internet for advice I've discovered that this issue is not that uncommon. This printer uses 5 ink tanks 3 of which are for single colours and two of which are for different kinds of black ink. The tank responsible for printing black text (fonts) for some reason just won't do its job.
Amongst other people's online posts I found a workaround cheat to print black text (simply change the paper setting to Photo Quality or Double Sided Photo for printing either single or duplex printing).
But this uses up too much ink and is EXTREMELY slow.
I have read of the same issue using a different series of Canon printers - and apparently those Canon laser printers just needed an updated CAPT driver.
Tasks already attempted to no avail:
    - cleaning the ink nozzles via the software utility
    - print test via software utility demonstrates absent gridline pattern
    - taken out print head and cleaned carefully with water then left to dry naturally before replacing
    - removed Microsoft Word font folders from user library location then restarted my machine (in a desperate response to some advice given in this community to someone else experiencing the same problem but with a different printer)
    - opened FontBook and resolved duplicate fonts and restarted my machine (there were about 5 duplicates)
    - tried printing from TextEdit and Preview to see if Apple software was behaving differently to Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat - but still cannot print black text
I've had this printer for about 7 years and although it's a massive machine and doesn't have built-in proper networking, it makes scanning and printing massive documents so easy - well it did before the black text problem began - so I'd love to find a true solution rather than chuck it out and buy a new printer.
I run it from a MacBook 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Version 10.6.8 via USB cable.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your iMac is only 9 months old, it probably comes with OS X Mountain Lion, and it includes AirPrint, so you do not need to purchase anything else apart from the printer (which is compatible with AirPrint).
Once you have purchased the printer, you need to follow the steps of the manufacturer. To add the printer to OS X, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670

  • Printing from iPad 2 to Canon MG6120 Pixma Printer

    Hi There Apple Community,
I'm trying to help out my Mother-In-Law (who I like) and I'm trying to make it as easy as possible for her to print from her iPad 2 to her Wi-Fi-enabled printer. It's like this:
I'm trying to print from an iPad 2 to a Canon MG6120 Pixma Printer. Now, I know that the printer is not AirPrint compatible at this time and I've downloaded EuroSmartz Print n Share (v4.5.2), but I'm just not satisfied. It works to a degree, but you have to print from within the app for it to work and the quality is much lower than if she were to simply use the desktop PC (a newish HP running Windows 7 Home Premium). The app is also hinky when trying to use its native browser to log into secure sites, which is the primarly use that she is going to use it for -- buying tickets and other stuff and wanting to print up hard copies.
So, I am asking a few different questions:
    1. Does anyone know of any hacks to the aforementioned Canon printer to make it work with the iPad?
    2. Does anyone know of another app that works with PCs that allows for easier printing?
    3. Does anyone know of any hacks to the iPad 2 that allows it to print to non-AirPrint-enabled printers?
Many, many thanks to any and all who answer!

Canon Easy Print free app for iPad might work

  • 10.9.2 doesn't recognize scanner in Canon MX725 after upgrade

10.9.2 doesn't recognize scanner in Canon MX725 (WLAN) after upgrade.
I've reseted the printing system. Printing works fine.
    Any Suggestions?

So after installing the ICA driver, did you try removing the MX725 from Printers and Scanners and adding again?
And is the MX725 still failing to appear under the Shared entry of Image Capture?
If it is not showing in Image Capture then open System Information (Applications > Utilities) and select Printers in the left column. The right pane will show information about the MX725. Please copy that information and paste back here for me to check.
You could also try installing the MX725 TWAIN scanner driver via link below. This download includes Canon's IJ Scan Utility, which will install in Applications > Canon Utilities.

Adobe Acrobat NI Pro doesn't recognize my wireless scanner, a Canon MG5520, but it prints from the same MG5520. This is ridiculous!

I just used the "Quick Menu" in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after wasting hours several days when the SSID and Network key/password were already activated and the Adobe software claimed no scanner was available. . These Adobe user manuals are next to useless. Now I'm still dealing with this problem: "Save As was unable to find tables in the document No file was created." (i.e., from the pdf file I created using NI). Well it's obvious there are tables in the pdf, but so far I haven't been able to get a result to determine the intrinsic accuracy of Adobe's pdf to Excel capability.

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

    Merci de votre réponse

While you are free to do what you want - it is strongly recommended that you do not use a referenced library (Do Not uncheck the preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto lbrary")  If creates problems, saves no space and sets up for futrue nighemares
You final conclusion is the correct one - FOR YOU - if you want destructive editing rather than the lossless editing that iPhoto provides then simply do not use iPhoto

I have a canon multifunction printer that used to work with snow leopard but since I updated to mountain lion it stoped working. How do I make it work again?

This problem is not unheard of when upgrading from Snow Leopard. It is usually solved by completely deleting the existing printer in System Preferences > Print & Scan, and adding it again.

  • Trying to print e-mails from my ipad to a canon wireless pixma 640

I have been trying to print an e-mail to my canon wireless pixma 640 and it tells me there is no connection.  What can I do.

"Airprint" is only supported by Airprint compatible printers.   You can't print to other wireless printers nor through a printer attached to an Airport.  It's unfortunate as I wanted to do the same thing with a printer attached to my airport.

  • Will Canon's PIXMA iP5000 Photo Printer work with Mavericks 10.9.5?

Canon's PIXMA iP500 Photo Printer is not listed in the printers supported by OS X Maverick.  Does this mean a user has to opt for another printer, or is there a way of getting around this issue?

Finally received a reply from Dymo support. It's self-explanatory:
    Good Morning Dana,
My name is Jesse and I will be happy to assist you today. I apologize for the delay in our response. A systems upgrade and technical issues prevented us from doing so until now. Yes, the 450 Twin Turbo will continue to work after updating to Mac 10.9.5, and our developers are making sure they will work with Mac 10.10 when it is released.
The Twin Turbo (the dual bay printer that just says ”Twin Turbo” on the front without a preceding number) requires a component included with Mac 10.9.3 and earlier that Apple has taken out of 10.9.4 and all subsequent releases, rendering the printer not able to be used. All other 400 series printers, as well as the 450 series printers work with Mac 10.9.4 and up. Our developers are working on the issue to see if a workaround can be implemented. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
If you should need further assistance, please do not hesitate to respond to this e-mail or contact tech support by phone at 1-877-724-8324.
    Kind regards,
    Jesse L.

  • Canon scanner/printer device mess (Pixma MP140)

    EDIT: Beware. Venting ahead!
Hi, I have wasted my free morning trying to print one jpeg and still have not done so.
I am unfortunate enough of having to deal with a Canon Pixma MP140 and (while the stupid
low spec scanner I don't need now gets detected out of the box) the printer will not show
    up!
It is a classical usb connection, nothing fancy. cupsd is working and everything is fine except
of  the obliviously infuriating messages.log which says
    Aug 20 12:45:52 localhost kernel: [ 1730.699983] usb 1-1: new high-speed USB device number 9 using ehci_hcd
    Aug 20 12:45:52 localhost kernel: [ 1730.860734] usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 9 if 1 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x172B

Aug 20 12:45:54 localhost kernel: [ 1733.136488] usb 1-1: usbfs: interface 1 claimed by usblp while 'colord-sane' sets config #1
So, yes? What? the printer is there but Cups can't see it? No /dev/ entry, no listing in any
printer administration tool (tried the gnome one as well) the computer just tells me the
damn thing isn't even connected? WTF?
I've checked the CUPS wiki, some canon printer entries none seems to help.
Ohh and before anybody suggests it, yes I have tried to switch the printer on/off or both, restart the machine (what is this? Windows?), reconnect on different usb device, offer a goose to the gods and sing to it, including all possible combinations. Nothing helped.

There are Linux drivers from Canon for that printer.  Likely it can be made to work, but it might require some effort with the official Canon drivers.

I've gotten my Canon printer MG8210 to work with the official Canon drivers using the method below.

  • PM8M-V: Can't connect with scanner of Canon MX-700 multifunction device

I just bought a new Cannon MX-700 multifunction printer.  After installing it on my [XP Home] desktop system everything works great except for...
The scanner won't work.  When I try to use/load it I get an error saying that the system can't communicate with the driver (code 39).  I have worked with Canon for two weeks and tried every thing they suggested without any change in the issue.  I have removed and re-installed the Canon software and drivers so many times that it will do it by itself if it notices that I'm pulling out the Canon CD.  They also had me try 3 different USB cables though I have never seen where I could specify a type or "model" for USB cables with the same connector types.
I have tried it with USB 2.0 enabled and disabled.  All other USB functions -- the printer, digital cameras, external disk drives and my web camera work perfectly as 2.0 devices.
It installs and operates perfectly on my HP laptop.  The only significant difference that I can see between the two systems is that the desktop MSI mobo uses the Via chipset.  I decided that I would delete the MSI driver for the integrated USB 2.0 controller and then connect to the Microsoft Update site and get the latest drivers and see if that would cure the problem.  Then I found out that I couldn't tell exactly which of the drivers on the MSI support site was the one that included the integrated USB 2.0 controller.  I think that it may be the 4-in-1 driver but I'm not sure.
At any rate, in looking, I ran across an article describing [what appears to be] the exact same situation -- Via chipset, driver not detecting USB device, etc. -- with the only difference being that it was a Logitech camera.  The problem it described had to do with OHCI vs UDCI compatibility and occasionally IRQ sharing under XP.
    (1) Does anyone know which of the mobo drivers provides support to the integrated USB controller, (2) are the drivers found on the Microsoft Update site the most current and (3) have you any awareness of this problem and how, assuming that it can, be resolved?
    Thanks in advance,

Don't pay any attention to the config below.  That's my machine and this one -- P4 2.4 GHz Northwood, PM8M-V mobo with 1GB PC3200 RAM -- is my grand child's.

Hmm just a thought, since your msi mobo is using via chipset, did you install the 4 in 1 chipset drivers from the mobo CD or alternatively from MSI site? Btw does your xp comes with sp2?
If you have not done so try downloading from here
    http://asia.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=205
Ensure you download the correct one which is mean for win xp

  • I am having a problem printing emails from my Hotmail account when I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser. When I click on the Print icon above the email and then proceed to print, the output on my Canon Pixma 830 printer is in extremely small type.

I am not sure about all those installed plugins you have listed below.
I know that I can always copy the text of my email and paste it into a Word file to be printed, but that is a hassle, and the output is not quite the same as when I print directly from the Web.
