Scanner software not supported

I have OS X and my canon PIXMA MP480, that came with my computer, prints but says "The scanner drive supported by this software is not installed.  Install it and then retry"  I tried deleting the printer and downloading the driver, but on the canon page it says there are no drivers for OS X for this printer.  It worked up until the last few times I have tried to copy or scan.  Any help is appreciated.

Sorry, I'm not really sure as to exactly which model
I have. It's an iMac, 20-inch: 2GHz Intel Core Duo,
    if that helps.
Yeah, that's what we need, that is the model. How much ram did you get? It could be that Diablo takes a lot of ram and you didn't get enough.
My guess, though, is that it's a PowerPC version and not Universal.
FYI, with the new Intel chips Apple moved to a new operating system and not all software has caught up to it yet. The Mac has something called Rosetta that allows you to run pre-Intel apps, called PowerPC. The Intel versions are called Universal and have a yin/yang symbol in 2 shades of blue.
Rosetta is an emulator, which means you are basically running an application inside another application. This is never perfect and causes slowdowns other problems especially with hi tech games. It could be a fundamental conflict that you can't resolve until Diablo comes out with a Universal version.
You can try searching their web site to see if you can download such a version or find out when they will have one. Or do web searches on Diablo for Mac Universal and see if you can find any info.

  • Apple scanner software not working with HP

HP claims that the Apple Scanner Software on PowerBook is not working properly with the HP scanner

Is this a question about the scanning software in the MacBook Pro computer shown
in your post's lower boundary area, or do you have a PowerPC G4 PowerBook, too?
There may be a newer or alternative driver for a recent version of OS X, that the
older obsoleted PowerBook can't run; but a later supported MacBook Pro, can.
Issues with Apple products, software or hardware that may elicit comment,
can be addressed to Apple Feedback... in case you want to tell them direct.
    Mac OS X - Feedback
If you have posted in the vintage/obsolete PowerBook notebook ASC discussion,
by accident, Hosts could relocate this thread to one more appropriate, on request.
You may have to look into alternative drivers or software for scanners, if whatever
Mac you are using with the HP scanner is unsuitable. The older PPC based Macs
can't run an OS X version past Leopard 10.5.8. With a later MacBook Pro running
Mavericks OS X 10.9.4, you may have difficulty if HP does not support it...
Drivers for current printers & some scanners may be included in Mavericks; but
for users of older printer/scanner/copier all-in-ones, bits may be left behind. If
the HP product is older, a different version HP scanner driver may work. There
are a few open source drivers available, however I do not recollect the web site.
Please make clear what version HP product, which Apple computer portable, and
what OS X version, your discussion actually pertain to. Some users refer to a
MacBook/Pro as a PowerBook; and for a time, a MacBook as an iBook. Oh well.
    {edited & re-posted -- after accidental reference to an unreleased software version}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Scanner NEF not Supported by Lightroom 2?

I am trying to decide on some workflow options for scanning negatives with a Nikon scanner.  It has been suggested that raw image data from a Nikon scanner can best be processed by having the scanner output in NEF format and using Nikon Capture NX 2 as a raw editor. The basis for this suggestion is that ACR does not support scanner NEF.  Apparently, neither does Lightroom 2, or so I am told.  Having reviewed comments in Adobe forums, some seem to hold the opinion, often vociferously, that scanner NEF is not truly raw data, is a complete waste of time, and scanned images should be output as TIFFs rather than NEFs.  Also, despite the official line that scanner NEF is not supported, scanned images that were output as NEF, and saved as NEF images, seem to be working just fine in Lightroom 2, although I haven't tried a full processing workflow on them yet. (In the interests of full disclosure I hold out the possibility that I may have somehow converted these images into a conventional form of NEF at some point after scanning).
I apologize for that lengthy introduction.  Here are my questions:  (1)  How is scanner NEF different from "true" raw image data; (2)  what are the consequences for optimization of scanned NEF images in Lightroom 2 -- am I simply using Lightroom tools without getting the full benefit of processing "true" raw information, as in the case of TIFFs and JPEGs;  (3) what does it mean that Lighroom 2 and ACR do not support scanner NEF anyway since I am (apparently) able to open and process them in Lightroom 2;  (4) if  Lightroom 2 does not fully support scanner NEF, is there anything to be gained by outputting to NEF (rather than TIFF) and using Nikon's proprietary RAW editor (which I am told does not officially support scanner NEF either, but still works) instead of LIghtroom 2 for NEFs?

Short answer - scan the images as TIFF and make life easier for yourself.
    Longer answer:
    1. A true raw file is still in it's mosaiced form whereas a scanner NEF is a fully rendered TIFF with a different extension
    2. Same as editing a TIFF, PSD or JPEG. The adjustments are parametric and therefore only readable in Lightroom and ACR. In order that you can actually open them into Photoshop or another editor it will be necessary to export the files as TIFF, PSD or JPEG.
    3. It means that they aren't treated as true raw files. Refer to above.
    4. There is nothing to be gained.

  • Software not supported? what?

Hello! This is my first time posting on here so please bare with me! I just bought myself a new Macintosh OSX computer, as to which I am very unfamiliar with. I know and have used Microsoft Windows in the past, but this is confusing me...
I purchased a computer game for my new high-tech PC, and I'm encountering some problems. On the game box, it says it's compatible with Macintosh computers, however, when I insert the disc into my computer and hit "install", a message pops up saying "You cannot open the application because it is not supported on this system."
To me it sounds like it isn't going to work, but I know it should. Anyone have any ideas I can try?
    Thanks for your help!

  • MAC OS 10.5.8 - hp software not supported

my mac os is 10.5.8 - I  need to install hp officejet pro 8610 printer software but my os is not supported? suggestions?

    Hi @pres10
I understand you have 10.5 and are trying to use the Officejet 8610 . The only suggestion I can make will not likely be ideal, but you could email anything you want to print from the computer to the printer.
Each HP ePrint-enabled printer, such as the 8610, has its own unique email address. After you enable HP ePrint on your HP ePrint-enabled printer, you can print from your mobile or network-connected device by sending an email to your HP printer's email address. With HP ePrint, you can print from anywhere, at any time. If you can send an email, you can use HP ePrint.
This blurb, and more information, can be found in the following HP Document, ePrint Product Specifications.
As mentioned. This is likely not ideal, it really depends on how much printing you plan to do. If this is practical for you as a work around then mission accomplished, we found a solution, if not....  The only other options would be to consider taking the printer back and getting a different model that is compatible with 10.5, or upgrading the OS if that Mac can allow for an upgrade to 10.6.
I know you'd rather not upgrade, but you might consider treating yourself, there are some nice new shiny Macs available.
What ever you decide, if you would like additional assistance, feel free to post back as I am happy to help.

    Hello,
Bell as usual is  not being straight to their customers.
RIM has released OS5 for the carriers. Each carrier decides to test those OS5 and when they are satisfied with the OS, they release it to the public.
Boost Mobile has released OS5 for 8330 for the public, you can get it here : http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
On the other hand, Bell has not.

  • Trying to download McAfee Software, Not supported???

McAfee found that your Operating System is a Unsupported Operating System You are attempting to download an Ubuntu Linux application to an operating system other than Ubuntu Linux.  To download this product, you must download from a computer using the Ubuntu Linux operating system. Why?

OS X versions 10.6.7 and later have built-in detection of known Mac malware in downloaded files. The recognition database is automatically updated once a day; however, you shouldn't rely on it, because the attackers are always at least a day ahead of the defenders. In most cases, there’s no benefit from any other automated protection against malware.
The most effective defense against malware is your own intelligence. All known malware on the Internet that affects a fully-updated installation of OS X 10.6 or later takes the form of trojans, which can only work if the victim is duped into running them. If you're smarter than the malware attacker thinks you are, you won't be duped. That means, primarily, that you never install software from an untrustworthy source. How do you know a source is untrustworthy?
Any website that prompts you to install a “codec,” “plug-in,” or “certificate” that comes from that same site, or an unknown site, merely in order to use the site, is untrustworthy.
A web operator who tells you that you have a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with your computer, or that you have won a prize in a contest you never entered, is trying to commit a crime with you as the victim.
“Cracked” copies of commercial software downloaded from a bittorrent are likely to be infected.
Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must be downloaded directly from the developer’s website. No intermediary is acceptable.
Disable Java (not JavaScript) in your web browser(s). Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This setting is mandatory in OS X 10.5.8 or earlier, because Java in those versions has bugs that make it unsafe to use on the Internet. Those bugs will probably never be fixed, because those older operating systems are no longer being maintained by Apple. Upgrade to a newer version of OS X as soon as you can.
Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be as safe from malware as you can reasonably be.
Never install any commercial "anti-virus" products for the Mac, as they all do more harm than good. If you need to be able to detect Windows malware in your files, use the free software ClamXav — nothing else.

  • Solution to canon scanner software not working

I have a Canon Lide 90 scanner, and had a heck of a time getting it to work.
The scanner came with bundled softare (Scan gear -the driver-, MP Navigator EX, Arc Soft photo studio, etc...) and even if I followed canon's instructions step-by-step, I couldn't get it to work with its own software.
The only thing that worked was to delete all other scanners that has been used on my computer.
    How to do this:
    1. Go to your hard disk
    2. Open Library
    3. Image capture
    4. TWAIN data sources
    5. 'move to trash' the other devices ( I had an HP scanner and 2 other Canon scanners listed in there...)
After I deleted the other scanners, keeping the Canon Lide90 I was using, everything started working perfectly. I didn't even have to restart or reinstall a thing!
    Yours truly,
    Relieved.

Nice bit of trouble-shooting. Thanks for sharing the final solution.

  • HP 1005 scanner not supported error

the error say scanner configuration not supported close window and use TWAIN software. please help.

Some scanner models are difficult to support in VueScan because the author is unable to ascertain the control codes for a particular model. As I suggested you might ask HP tech support if they have scanner drivers for other models that will work with yours.
However, the reality is that new scanners are pretty cheap and for the money probably much better than the scanner you have. Maybe it would be better simply to buy a new scanner that you know is fully compatible and comes with Mac drivers for OS X (both PPC and Intel versions.)
