Scanner won't work on my Hp printer and I can't find a way to view my ink level

Hello!  I uninstalled HP Support Assistant, did a  Windows update, installed from official site, and yet I still cannot scan from my printer (had to make a shortcut to scan from my computer), and I can't find out my ink level.
Any ideas on how I can view my ink level?
Any ideas on how I can scan (although that's low priority because I did that work around)
I have been going back and forth to HP site and HPSA (making sure everything is updated) but I did see that HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon is msising and HPSA advised me to to a custom install and to include that when installing.  That's the icon/program to view my ink levels.  But I can't seem to make that happen. Not an option for installation.
Any more ideas?

Hi linsjean,
I see you have lost the ability to use the HP software to scan and check ink levels. You could continue scanning as you are now and simply download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor to check your ink levels, or you could perform a comprehensive uninstall and reinstall.
Click here to download and run the utility > HP Print and Scan Doctor
Or you can use the steps below to complete the uninstall and reinstall;
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted
Download the software and choose to save as, save to desktop > Click here, choose your operating system, click next, select the Driver Product installation Softwar...
After the software downloads and extracts, open the temp folder again, use the instructions from step 1.
Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
Open folder Util
Open folder CCC
If you have an HP computer run the L3uninstall.exe. If you have a non-HP computer run the L4uninstall.exe
When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
Follow these steps to reset the registry settings and options for Windows Installer.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /unregister, and then click OK.
Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
In the Open box, type msiexec /regserver, and then click OK

Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Restart the computer
Download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows

  • Trouble with viewing font on spine of Photo book.  I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the book itself when printed.

    I can't find a way to view and edit the text which appears on the spine of the dustcover or the photo book itself.  When I preview the book it appears on the dustcover and the book, but not when I'm back in the creation or editing windows.  I've printed 4 books in a series and two spines are one font size, and two others are a different font size.  One of the books has a shortened title on the book spine.

    The text on the spine will be the same text that is in the Title text box on the title page.  You can change the font and style of that text just like you change any text in Aperture. Aperture will size and center the spine text for you
    If you want the content or the font and style  of the text to be different from your Title box text then you have to trick the program a bit.  Put the text that you want in the spine into the Title text box and then move that box to a place on the page where it will not be visible when printed ( Y coordinate -1.0 inches for example).  Don't move it too far away or it will be hard to get back to in order to make an edit.    Then make a new text box on the title page and put the text you want on the cover in that.  (Or make a book without text on the cover , but with text on the spine). 
    You are 100% correct in that you can not preview this unless you preview the printed book

  • Safari stops working.  Mail won't work with Safari running.  Now iTunes can't find my phone.  If I restart and do one thing at a time it helps but still not reliable.  All software on my iMac is up to date.

    I have a new iMac and iPhone 4.0.  All software is up to date and I have installed the free beta version of Mountain Lion which let me use iChat on my computer.  Safari intermittently stops working.  Mail won't access my mailboxes if Safari is running.  Now iTunes won't find my iPhone when it's locked and in a dock charging.  If I restart I can do 1 thing at a time, but I can't have Safari running and use Mail.  I've emptied my cache, checked my passwords.  It's none of that.  By process of elimination, there is some kind of conflict between using multiple applications on the Internet at the same time.  Sometimes after I've gone to several Internet sites Safari will stop working properly even though all other applications have been "quit".

    Oops. You installed the beta Mountain Lion on your main hard disk? Usually most people install it on a secondary or external hard drive. Your situation should actually be posted on the Developer web site for Moutnain Lion and not here. All I can suggest here is to run repair permissions and restart. Sorry.

    According to https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/audiobooks-from-audible/id379693831?mt=8 it only requires iOS 5 or later and it is "optimized" for iPhone 5. I think it will likely work well on your iPhone 4.

  • Firefox won't prompt me for my email password and I can't find a way to add it to my saved list

    Firefox has just prompted me to save my password for this registration, but it won't prompt me for my password for my virgin email acct. It used to but virgin mail had a new signing in window and it was not saved in that. I checked my saved password list and it was there ok, so I removed it thinking that it would prompt me again but it doesn't. Is there any way I can add it to my saved list myself. The problem might be with the virgin email site. Can you please advise.

    A year ago I bought an Imac to replace my broken Laptop. I have two Ipod touches. They both shared the same Library of CD and Itunes music. Until I synced the Ipod to my Itunes account on my Imac. And it wiped the CD songs from that Ipod, and just uploaded the Itunes songs. Uploading the songs Via CD isn't an option any more as I moved quite a bit, so CD's are all scratched like mad. I still have all the CD songs left on one Ipod, and when connected to Itunes I have access to the CD songs. But can't transfer them over to my Library. I'm too scared to Sync it incase I lose all my CD songs forever. Help

    The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is ituens purchases.  The ipod is not a backup device.
    Copy everything from the old computer or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work right anymore. I always used it with my Picasa 3

    For some reason my HP Photosmart C5280 scanner won't work with my Picasa 3, and it used to.  My PC is also an HP Pavilion g6,  with Windows 7.  I tried downloading a new driver, as the CD was too old to have Windows 7, and also updating my Picasa, but none of that worked.  I'm trying to scan an old photo.  I'm just not having any luck at all, and it used to work like magic.

    I have a similar problem with a new CanoScan 9000F which I tried to use without any success on my desktop computer (Mac Pro 5,1) and laptop (Macbook Pro 1,2) both running OS 10.6. Problem is identical on both, viz:
        •    Scanning process appears to start, a message comes on the screen: Scanning do not open document cover followed by Scanning...
        •    This is then replaced by the message: Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. 2.155.33
    I've spent several hours on the phone with Canon support but having uninstalled/installed/reinstalled/updated/turned on/turned off/unplugged/plugged/restarted innumerable times, the problem is exactly the same. The scanner icon shows up in the Printer & Fax System Prefs (though without the little status lights) and shows as being connected in the USB tree. I think it's a problem with the scanner, Canon bods are suggesting the Macs are at fault and suggest I try connecting to a wintel (hawk, spit) and it's 100km to the nearest Canon service centre.
    Any suggestions as to what might be the problem/s and what I might be able to do to fix it/them?

    By the way, bought the Canon to replace a HP Scanjet 8300 which I've used for 6 years almost without problems. Any that I have had have been fixed merely by turning the scanner off then on after a 10 second rest.

    As listed on Epson's site the drivers are available via Apple Software Update.
    Ensure the scanner is powered on and directly connected to your Mac, then try following the steps below:

    Now try opening the Image Capture application within the Applications folder and check if your scanner appears.
