Scanner Wont Work....And I cant figure out how to trouble shoot
I have been using this printer-copier-fax-scan-web for over 2 years. No issues whatsoever. I installed the info on it when I first bought it and no problems installing.
The printer is wireless.
Today was the first time it would not scan. I tried to troubleshoot by checking if I had connectivity. I did. So the only thing I can figure out is that it has to be the lack of an OCR application.
What is OCR and where do I find those settings? I have looked everywhere.
I touch Icons to scan:
1) Scan
2)to computer
3) Jacquie's computer
4)Save as a PDF
5)start Scan
The error message I keep getting on my computer monitor is: An error occurred while scanning
On the printer: it says the scan was unsuccessful because of
1) Connection to the computer is lost
2) The scan application on the computer is currently in use
3) OCR application is not installed on the computer
Since I know the first 2 arent the problem. I figure it is the OCR------which I havent figured out what that is.
I have been scanning to a USB device and then uploading up to my computer to work around but it is driving me nuts.

I understand that you're experiencing a scan issue when attempting to scan from your wireless HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer to your computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue.
The OCR software that the printer is referring to is the HP Scan software. OCR is specific to PDF scans. Therefore, to ensure that the HP Software is functioning on your computer can I please have you click here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left. Once the download is complete please allow the Tool to Run. When prompted select the 'fix scanning' option. The HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will run on your computer and look for any driver, software, or connectivity conflicts. If any conflicts are found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you.
Once the Tool has completed please test scanning again.
If the scanning issue persists, can you please include your Operating System in your next post so I can provide accurate step-by-step troubleshooting to assist you with resolving this issue.
Please respond to this post with the result of running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If any errors pop up during the 'fix scanning' process, or anything fails, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you!

To reset, hold down the MENU and SELECT (centre) buttons for five or ten seconds until you see the Apple logo appear then the menu button to go to the normal display

I've got movies on my computer on itunes, however my parents wish that i use my laptop for itunes stuff, and i cant figure out how to get those movies to be able to sync with my ipod again, it wont recognize that I have them. Suggestions?
While you're in itunes, with the leftside window open, click on Apps. Then, look across the top middle of your itunes screen. You will see several choices: All, Iphone/iPad Touch, Ipad, Ipod Games, List, and Updates.
Clicking on each of these gives you a different view.
When you select ALL you will see all of your apps. When you select Updates you sill see only the apps that need to be updated. When you are in Updates you will see the Update button in the lower right corner.

Did you enable Siri in settings?
Settings > General > Siri > ON
If Siri is off, all you get when pressing the home button for 1 second is the old Voice Control. -

I need to know for sure that my contacts are backed up on my computerCreate a parent folder on your computer to store the named folders of photos that you want transferred to your iPhone. Regarding your 2nd question, this should be easy. Your contacts should be available on your computer with or without an iPhone or any cell phone, which can be lost or stolen.
Although contacts are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, not a good idea to depend on this either since the iPhone backup includes a significant amount of other data. Contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer. With Windoze, this can be with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 along with syncing calendar events and notes, or with the address book app used by Outlook Express with XP and by Windows Mail with Vista and Windows 7 called Windows Contacts for syncing contacts only. -

If Software Update is offering the update then it would be compatible with your model. Unfortunately, you haven't provided us with any information on your hardware that would enable us to determine if it really is too old.
If you really wish to disable the update alert then the next time Software Update opens, select the update in the list then select "Ignore update" from SU's Update menu. -
