Scanning batches of photos as one time

Is there an easy way to scan a batch of photos on the flatbed of a scanner and have the software recognize them as distinct images?  And then save them that way?

  • Scan in mutiple photos in one file, can I crop multiple photos...

    at same time?
I don't know how to scan multiple photos as distinct file. I scan 5-6 pics it comes out at one file that I import into iPhoto. While it's very easy to crop each photo out of the file, I have to import the file as many times as there are photos
    to crop.
I hope I've been clear. Is there a smarter way to work. I don't see a way to scan
the 5-6 pics as different files in my scanner software.
    Thanks

    Joshua:
Vuescan is a 3rd party scanning application which can do batch scanning but is a little more difficult to set up. It works with most scanners.
If you have a Canon scanner you can scan in multiple photos at one time and have the scanner software crop, not as close as I'd like, each one individually and present to you in the editor of your choice or the one that comes with it.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • In IPhoto '08, Photos under Library, I'm no longer able to view a screen of thumbnails.   I'm only able to view a single photo at one time.  This was not true in the past.

Note the slider lower right of the iPhoto Window. Drag it left.

  • Batch Change Photos' Date - Not Time

Is there a way to change a bunch of photos' date, but not the time?

    Neil:
Not in iPhoto. Unfortunately you've go to change the time as well. If there are not too many of them you can do it this way.
1 - move all that you want to redate to the same date to a new roll.
2 - in the Finder copy the folder in the Original folder that represents the roll with the files to be redated to the desktop.
3 - using an application like PhotoInfo batch change the date to whatever you need. It can just add or subtract a specific number of days, months or years to the date as you see fit.
4 - change the name of the folder and import back into iPhoto.
5 - delete the original roll of photos with the incorrect date.
That's about it. It's not too convoluted and can be done. This way the new date will be embedded in the file and stay with it if needed in a new library or other application.

  • Changing metadata for multiple photos at one time

    Hi,
Is there a way to change the metadata (ie information) of multiple photos at a single time.
For example, I have a ton of pictures from a vacation. I would like to be able to select all of those photos and add the name of the vacation to all of them.
    Thanks,
    BT

    1) Select all the photos you would like to modify
    2) Select Photos->Batch Change
    3) Set the drop-down to 'Comments'
    Have at it!

  • Batch jobs and deleting one time variants

    Hi,
I have a need to generate a background job with up to
21 steps each step needing a different variant determined
    at creation.
I have written an abap that will create the job, steps
and variants for the batch stream. This works fine.
My problem is trying to delete the variants I created
at the end of the batch stream. I have tried setting
up another step to delete the variant but that fails
as RS_DELETE_VARIANT gives an error if the variant
exists in a current batch job, which it does in this
case as the variants are used in previous steps.
Ideally I would like to create variants as SAP itself
does when you dynamically submit a job to batch.
How can I get around this problem elegantly ?
    Allan

    Dear Allan
      Welcome to SDN.
One solution that i can propose is:
With the ABAP Program that submits the job, do the following:
Step 1: Open the job using FM: JOB_OPEN.
Step 2: Submit all programs using SUBMIT statements and values for parameter with reference to the job-id and job counter.( I guess if we use JOB_SUBMIT here we will be specifying the variant name which already exists).
Step 3: Close the job using FM: JOB_CLOSE.
Using the above procedure the variants created will be temporary and no need to delete.
Below is an example which can help you understand the same:
    PERFORM JOB_OPEN USING SY-REPID CHANGING L_JOBCNT.
    SUBMIT Y00_SD_F2_003 WITH P_BUKRS = P_BUKRS

  • How do i delete multiple photos at one time from the cameral roll on iPhone?

I need space on my iPhone4s, and have thousands of photos on the camera roll, which are backed up on my computer, so want to delete them. MUST I delete by choosing them individually and deleting, or is there a way to mass delete them?

I just had the same problem.  I had 8.6 GB of photos on my camera roll, and my new iPhone only had 16 GB. The error message telling me that I had run out of space kept coming up, and I couldn't take any more pictures. So I followed wjosten's suggestions.
    wjosten wrote:
Launch Image Capture from your applications folder, connect your phone...does Image Capture see the photos? If so, you can use Image Capture to delete them.
It really only helped to have a mac, and image capture ran perfectly.
*When you open Image Capture, all I had to do was click on the red warning/danger sign to delete the selected photos.  I have my phone streaming with my Mac, so I didn't discriminate between all my old photos had already been backed up.

  • How do I make the same changes to multiple photos at one time?

Such as image size or filtering...

It would probably depend on which version of Photoshop your are using.
With CS6 you could create an action to apply the filter.
Then use File/Scripts/Image Processor to change the size and apply filter action.
Don't know about CC or CC2014.

  • Is there an all in one printer that allows me to scan multiple pictures at one time and put them directly into iPhoto?

I am looking to replace an old HP psc 2210 all in one printer  with a new all in one that will let me scan multiple photos at one time and put them directly into iPhoto.  Dos anyone have suggestions for a printer that will do this?

I use an HP Photosmart, but most scanners will scan multiple photo's. I just make sure in the scan preferences, I tick the box to "Detect Seperate Items". I normaly scan 6 to 8 photo's at a time, size depending on how many I can fit on the scanner bed. I set the preferences to scan directly to iPhoto.
    Hope this helps.

  • Selecting more than one photo at a time

how do I grab a bulk number of photos at one time on my ipad and I phone?  I've tried to hold my finger down on the first one because someone said it would let you drag your finger to more but it doesn't.  When I do that "copy" pops up on the first one and that's it.

This is what you are talking about. Are you doing it like it use described here?

  • Download All Photos With One Click

Is there a way in iWeb to download all the photos on a photo page in 1 click?
Similar to the way you can download an entire Gallery on MobileMe.

No. That would be a hyperlink you'd have to add to the top of the photo page for visitor to click on if they wanted to download all of the photos at one time. It would be in addition to the adding the photos to the photo page in iWeb.
There are two ways you can create that link. The first is:
1 - create the zipped folder on your hard drive.
2 - go to the Inspector/Hyperlink/LInk and and select A File in the Link to menu. Navigate to the zipped folder and select it. The zipped folder will be uploaded to the server when you publish the page.
When a visitor clicks on that link the zipped folder will immediately be downloaded.
The second method makes for easier and quicker iWeb editing and publishing:
1 - create the zipped folder and manually upload to the server.
2 - create a hyperlink with the link to an external page option. Put in the URL for the zipped folder on your server.
This method only requires you to upload the zipped folder one time an does not require iWeb to manage it except for the link on the page. IMO this is the better method.

  • HT3231 How do I 'unlock' them at once, or by a folder at one time?

I transferred 15,000 photos from my pc hard drive to my macbook pro, its only clear how to unlock one photo at one time. So I am unable to scroll through, I have to look at them all individually.. Surely there is a way to unlock my photos at once... They weren't locked on my pc.

through a pc hard drive 'MD elements', apple care walked me through it and the transfer went perfectly. and i can view them but only one at one time, since they are all 'locked'... i can unlock but only one at a time. and this is going to be impossible with 15,000!

  • How can I scan more than one photo at a time on my 8610

The previous HP Scanner we had (8500) would allow you to add scan windows to the scan preview so that you could scan more than one photo or image at a time from the glass.  This allowed me to scan physical photos in several at a time rather than having to load one at a time.  Is there a way to do this in this newer 8610 software?

Thanks!  That did work, sort of.   At 600 dpi, If I put 5 photos on the scanner bed, it sometimes senses 3 correctly and senses 2 as one photo.  Sometimes the other way around, it gets 2 right and senses 3 togehter.  I can then change the scanning area to just have one of those photos, but then I have to rescan the one(s) that are/were left out.
So the first problem with this solution is, to use it I'm stuck at 300 dpi resolution  or less which isn't great for my situation.  I want to be able to enlarge some of these images up for printing.
Also, When I click on the + sign it scans the same photos again and I can then crop the ones that it continually senses as 1 photo (even when they are spread apart, but it scans all the others again to, so if it senses three photos together that shouldn't be, I have to add 2 extra pages, crop them appropriately and the delete the extra 4 scans of the photos it got right the first time.
VERY CUMBERSOME.  The previous program for the 8500 let you just add a scan area window so that you could scan the bits out you wanted.  Much better.   Why do they mess with what works?   Bummer.
