Scanning computer for music and move to itunes

Recently upgraded to Windows 7 and person helping me moved all my music to an external drive. Now want to get back into Itunes but playlists are gone and music is not organized. How do I get itunes to look for music and import to itunes - or should I just stick with Windows media player?

You say "ripped" music. That is not stored on iCloud unless you subscribe to Match. As for iTunes Store purchases:

Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
Of course if you had a backup of your files you would have been back up adn running iTunes by the time you read all this.

You would need to have home sharing enabled on Apple TV and iTunes.

They would be accessed by going to the Computers icon on Apple TV. . Your computer would need to be on and running iTunes.

Can't browse music and movies in iTunes store

Out of the sudden, I'm not longer able to browse music o movies on iTunes store in iPad 2. The store works perfectly on my MacBook Pro (running Lion 10.7.2) and on iPod Toch, allowing me to browse (and purchase) music or movies using same Apple ID.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried closing the iTunes app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e. not with iTunes 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iTunes app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Another option is to try logging out of your account by tapping on it Settings > Store and then logging back in.

Can't download music and movies from iTunes

I upgraded my ipad2 to ios5.1 and after that whenever I open iTunes from my iPad or pc I can only download books from iBooks and podcasts.
Please help!

Unfortunately downgrading the OS on the device is not supported by Apple.
I can tell you this - Google can turn up a whole world of possibilities if you are looking for an answer to something that is not supported.
Before you do anything else - were you able to download other content before you upgraded? Music? Movies? As far as I know - the content in that article was the only content that was available in India anyway and updating the iOS should have made no bearing on what you can download.

Seperate library for music and movies

is it possible to have an itunes library for music in one folder (say on the internal drive), and an itunes library for movies (for syncing to appletv) on an external hard drive??
ive had a quick look at how to create a new library (by holding option when opening itunes) but don't have time at the moment to look into too much detail.

i guess your answer is right where you don't have time to look into. hold down option while opening iTunes and create a new library on your external drive. add your movies into this new library. then, if you want to swith your library, you just have to relauch iTunes by holding option again.
i suggest that, to avoid any issue, you locate the library that will reference the content of your external drive in your external drive. so if you ever start iTunes without your external drive while iTunes was still using the library that reference content of your external drive, it will prompt you accordingly.

Scanning computer for music

When I installed iTunes it prompted me to allow it to scan my hard drive for music. Not wanting EVERY sound bite I had imported into my iTunes Library, I declined.
After some organizing, I want iTunes to scan my computer for my music. Can someone help me figure out how to tell iTunes to perform this scan again?

When I first made it I selected the USA as my country because I didn't have my credit card information and even without my apple ID I was able to browse songs on my computer before. Now I changed the country to Lebanon (Middle East) and I can't browse songs all of a sudden. In appstore I also found that I only see loocal ratings of applications and there are not much people here who purchase apps and I can't decide from these ratings on buying apps!

When you browse in a particular country's iTunes Store, you will only see the content that is sold in that Store.

You can browse in any country's store to see what is there, for example app ratings.

Everytime i Sync ipad or iphone after restarting computer the music and movie boxes have been automatically unchecked. Then if i check it it ask remove and sync.Why is this happening?

As question the says itunes keeps unchecking the movies and music boxes and i then have to "remove and Sync" then reselect the movies i want to watch. Movies is set to allow me to selct only what I want and music is sync all music. I appreciate any help.

Hmm. That sounds easy enough... but how do I backup to the new computer when it doesn't give me the option? When I connect the iPad via USB, it asks me to:
• set up as a new IPad
• restore from a previous backup (where the only backup listed in the drop down menu is a stolen iPad with outdated information, dated April of 2011. It doesn't ask to restore from iCloud where this current iPad is backed up.)
If you're suggesting that I back up both devices to iCloud and then wipe them, then plug them into the new computer and restore from the iCloud backup, so that my new computer considers these new devices, that makes sense... except that I don't see an option to restore from iCloud. Does that option appear later? And is it absolutely certain that any app I have entered data into will restore that information as well, and not just the app? For example, if I have an index card app which I make essay notes in, will those notes definitely be backed up along with the app? Or just the app? I can't afford to lose all my work data.

Can't trust this computer for iphone and ipad with Itunes

after updating to ios 7.1.1 on both my iphone 4s and ipad I keep getting this message when I connect my phone or ipad to my iMac
:iTunes could not connect to this iPad. You do not have permission.
then this : Do you want to allow this computer to access information on “davidbarton’s iPad”?
If you don’t allow access, you will not be able to manage or sync your iPad with this computer.
I click trust on the device and then continue from within iTunes and I get this : iTunes could not connect to this iPad. You do not have permission.
I have started getting this too after running disk utility and verify disk permissions, then running repair disk permissions
: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-54).

Yes.
Anything you uncheck in iTunes remains the same with iTunes regardless which device you are syncing.
I make use of iTunes playlists for the music I want transferred to my iPhone. Under the Music tab for my iPhone sync preferences, I have selected playlists, artists, and genres chosen. I select the iTunes playlists and/or artists and genres that I want transferred to my iPhone. I also have sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary tab for my iPhone sync preferences. This way if I want to remove a song or songs from my iPhone without removing the songs from the playlist I've selected to be transferred to my iPhone, I can uncheck the song or songs in the playlist in iTunes followed by a sync. Or I can remove a song or songs from the playlist in iTunes followed by a sync. To add additional music to my iPhone, I can add the music to one of the playlists in iTunes I've selected to be transferred to my iPhone followed by a sync.
You can have the same playlist or playlists transferred to both, or different playlists transferred to each, but whatever is deselected in iTunes will be reflected on both with sync only checked songs and video selected for your iPhone and iPad sync preferences.

I recently bought iPad mini and bought 1 music CD containing 10 songs and 1 movie for rental.
However, None of them can be downloaded properly, and the screen shows "dowload error".

I use I cloud for my contacts, etc. but want to use computer for music.

I use the I cloud for my contacts etc., but don't want to use it for music and movies. But when I manually try to sink the iphone, it says it will erase the content and replace it with the new content on my work computer. Will this destroy all info or just the music?

For me all of my data and backups are done through iCloud, but it still lets me sync to iTunes no prob. I would turn off Music and anything else you want on the iCloud menu on the iPhone, and then when you plug in to iTunes instead of saying iCloud backup say Computer backup.

I upgraded my Iphone4 to IOS 5.0.1 when plugged into my fully-patched OS X Lion-version Mac. I no longer have any movies and only one song on my phone. Itunes says I have all of my movies and music, but my phone does not show it. I do have my books (but not audiobooks)

I made a work around. Set my phone to not sync music and movies in itunes. Sync phone. Set my phone to sync music and movies in itunes. Sync phone.
It is very time consuming though.
And, what else is set incorrectly somewhere and I do not know it? There was also a very weird glitch - where "Albums" is listed in when running the music app in IOS5 (5.0.1), it instead had had the name of the one song! That is now also fixed.

1) The best way to relocate the iTunes library folder is to move the entire iTunes folder with all subfolders to the new path, then press and hold down shift as start iTunes and keep holding until prompted to choose a library, then browse to the relocated folder and open the file iTunes Library.itl inside it.
If you've done something different then provide some more details about what is where and I should be able to help.
2) Purchases on the device should automatically transfer to a Purchased on <DeviceName> playlist, but it my depend a bit on whether automatic iCloud downloads are enabled. If there is a cloudy link then the transfer might not happen. You can use File > Devices > Transfer Purchases. In iTunes you should also check out iTunes Store > Quick Links > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
3) Backup the device, then immediately restore it. In some cases you need to add a restore as new device into that equation. Obbviously not to be attempted until you're sure all your media is in your library. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device should it be needed.
4) I believe there is complimentary 1 incident 90-day support with hardware purchases, but no free software support for iTunes itself. AppleCare gets you a different level of support.
