Scanning doesn't use the document feeder

When using the scan to computer option on the printer / scanner it doesn't take the document from the feeder, instead scanning a blank image from the flatbed part. If I use the software on the PC to initiate a scan it does feed the document in, as it does when using the Copy option on the device itself.

I am having the exact same problem. I will add that scanning from the document feeder to my Mac Book works fine. The problem with the document feeder is only whenn atttempting to use the AiO software on my iPad.

  • Getting Canon 4770 to scan multipages into a PDF file while using the document feeder

    Hi All
I'm new to this forum.  So if I break any rules with my questions below, kindly forgive me.
But my questions are about my Canon MF4770 printer.
    1.  Why can't I used the document feeder to scan multiple pages into one PDF file?
    2.  Why do I have to constantly select the remote scanner option when the printer is connected to my computer?
Any help I can get will be very appreciated.
    Starlene

Hi Starlene and welcome to the Canon forum,
The ability to scan multi-page documents can depend on your operating system and version, and if the scanning software being used supports the feature.  However, the MF Toolbox application that accompanies your laser product offers this option when scanning via a USB connection to your computer.
For example, if you are using Windows, below are the steps that would be performed:
    1.  Place documents.
Note: Up to 35 documents can be loaded in the feeder.  Be sure to fan the stack, place it face up, and align the document guides to the width of document.
    2. Press [SCAN].
    3. Press [^] or [v] to highlight <Remote Scanner>, and then press [OK].
The machine is now waiting to be scanned.
    4. Double-click the [Canon MF Toolbox 4.9] icon on the desktop.
    The MF Toolbox starts.
    5. Click [PDF].
Select [PDF (Multiple Pages)] in [Save as Type].
    7. Specify the required settings as needed and click [PDF Settings].
The [PDF Settings] dialog box appears.
    8. Specify the required settings as needed and click [OK]:
[Create Searchable PDF] Converts the characters in the document to text data and makes the PDF document searchable with keywords.
[Text Language] Select the language of the text to be scanned. The characters may be recognized more accurately if you select [English] from the drop-down list and set [Image Quality] to [300 dpi] or higher in [Scanner Settings].
[PDF Compression] Select [High] for color images such as photos or illustrations to reduce file sizes.
    9. Click [Start].
    Note:
A folder with the scanning date will be created in the [MY PICTURES] folder in the [MY DOCUMENTS] folder, and your document will be saved in this folder. If there is no [MY PICTURES] folder, the folder with the scanning date will be created in the [MY DOCUMENTS] folder and your document saved in this folder.
For text documents or black-and-white documents, it is recommended you select either [BLACK and WHITE] or [GRAYSCALE] in [SCAN MODE].
If making a Multiple PDF with color documents ([IMAGE QUALITY] set to [300 dpi]), it is recommended that the PDF have fewer than 20 pages.
The MF toolbox can be loaded from your software CD or downloaded here from the "Drivers & Software" tab on the Canon USA website.
I can understand some confusion on having to select "Remote Scanner" when you have a direct computer connection to your product.  The reason for this is that first, the "Remote Scanner" mode refers to seeing your computer as a stand alone, or remote, device; however, the "Computer" scanning mode option allows you to select which computer will be performing a scan when doing so over a network (Max: up to 10 computers).
Another reason for having to select the scan mode is that the selection is not programmed but selected based on the type of scan you will be performing at the time.

  • Word cannot open this document.  The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document,  or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example,\ /).

I recently upgraded to a new Macbook Air running Lion, from my 2007 white Macbook running Snow Leopard.  I had Office for Mac 2004 on the 2007, but had to upgrade to Office for Mac 2011 to be compatible with Lion on the Air.  Now when I try to open my documents on the Air that were saved under Office 2004 on the old computer, I get the following message: Word cannot open this document.  The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document,  or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example,\ /).
    Any suggestions?  Thank you.

Ha,ha,ha.....I figured it out.  But for anyone else who's having this problem, it seems that while Office 2004 allowed dates in this format: 00/00/00, Office 2011 doesn't like it at all.  I just changed the format in the document names to 00-00-00 and all is well.  Documents are opening beautifully!

  • What is the promper format of files using the Document step in UCCX 8

    Hello all,
I am working a script that is using the document steps in the script editor.
The script will allow the user to call in and turn a greeting on and off
I have a few sample scripts from version 5 and 7 and do this but I am on verions 8.0 and can't seem to figure out the document step
in the old verison of the script editor you put in the full windows path where the document is stored.
How is this done in the linux version?
    I have tried the following
    "filename.xml"
    "filename"
    "/filename.xml"
    "filename"
    /filename
    /en_US/filename.xml
none seem to work.  when i do a debug on the script it says the file does not exist.
how do i need to list the filename in the create and write document steps.
if anyone has a script i could use that is version 8 that would be great as well!
    thanks!
    Ken

I assume you're referring to the Write Document step?
That step writes directly to the filesystem, in the appliance version (8.x+) you can only write to a specific directory on the file system, which you can get from:
    System.getProperty(“uccx.customer.dir”)
However, I believe these are deleted after some time and are not really suitable for long term storage. If you have a HA cluster this is certainly not going to work.
Assuming so, your next option is to use the Documents subsystem which works something like this:
    User authUser
authUser = Get User (User ID: myUsersName)
    - Success:
Authenticate User Password (User: authUser, Password: myUsersPassword)
         - Success:
Upload Document (Language: en_US, Name: fileName, Document: dataToWrite, User: authUser)
              - Success:
/* document uploaded without issue */
You can then read from that file via
    Document doc = DOC["en_US\" + fileName]
    Something like that should work.

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;

    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

  • This disk doesn't use the GUID Partition table scheme.

When I Install the Lion. It is stuck.
Lion This disk doesn’t use the GUID Partition table scheme.Use disk Utility to change the partition scheme.Select the disk, choose the Partition tab, select the Volume Scheme and then click Options.
    The last step has problem.
    I can not click Options.

In order to repartition the startup drive you will have to boot from your Snow Leopard DVD, select Utilities and then Disk Utility.  YOU MUST ERASE YOUR DISK TO CHANGE THE PARTITION TABLE.  The good news is that I see you have a Time Machine backup.  Make sure that your backup is current before you erase your startup disk.
Even before doing this, save a copy of the Lion installer (it is in the Applications folder) onto an external device.  Your external hard drive is a good spot; it won't interfere with your Time Machine backup. This will prevent you from having to download the installer again.
The easiest way to proceed after making sure your Time Machine backup is current, saving a copy of the Lion installer, and repartitioning your startup disk, is to reinstall Snow Leopard on your newly partitioned disk. This will take a little longer but it is simple and is fully supported by Apple.  Once that is done and you are running Snow Leopard on your startup disk again, run the Lion installer from whereever you saved it, and then restore your files and settings from your Time Machine backup during the install process.
There is an unsupported procedure for making a bootable Lion DVD, but it is more complex and is not supported by Apple.  If you are uncomfortable with any of this and have access to an Apple Store, make an appointment at the Genius Bar and they can help you through the process.

  • Lion This disk doesn't use the GUID partition table scheme

Hi I have downloaded and began running the installation but it says "This disk doesn't use the GUID partition table scheme", any ideas?! Running latest version of OSX 10.6.8
    Thanks in advance!

ok, sorry if I offended you for wrong.
I did not knew Apple ships MBR partitioned disks or has official support for doing so. I always see Windows-PCs with that scheme ( Linux supports mbr and guid just like osx ) .
Of course I know that Disk Utility offers three options : GUID or MBR or Apple partition map for ppc devices.
Lion needs GUID, so a reformat is absolutely necessary for those that have one of the others.
    Again sorry.

  • Help Can't Install Maverick "disk doesn't use the GUID Partition-"

I have an imac and i'm using bootcamp fro windows 8.  so I have Macintosh HD and BOOTCAMP Partitions. both partition have Master Boot Record as the Partition Scheme.  When trying to install OS X Mavericks it rell me that "This disk doesn't use the GUID Partition Table scheme. ..." it tells me to use Disk Utility to select the disk ->partition -> select Volume Scheme and then Options... but option is grayed out... I can not change it and so can not install Mavericks... how do I solve the this issue without losing any data in mac and in windows? without deleting partitions if possible?
    thanks

GUID is a drive map layout. You can only change it by opening Disk Utility, highlighting the physical drive and choosing the Partition tab. Then change the partition layout to anything other than Current. The Options button below that will then be active and you can then finally change the drive map from whatever it is now to GUID.
Note that since you must repartition the drive, you WILL lose everything on all partitions. So you MUST back up everything FIRST to another drive. This can be a clone to another physical drive, internal or external. When you clone it back after repartitioning, the drive map does not change.
To check your current drive layout, open Disk Utility and click on the physical drive you want to install Mavericks on. Example:
Then look at the lower right of Disk Utility's box. If you see anything other than GUID Partition Table, as shown below, then you must repartition the drive.
The other main problem is that you have to have another drive to boot to before you can change the one that needs to be repartitioned. Clone your current drive to another physical drive, not another partition on the same drive. Once the clone is complete, boot to that drive and you'll be able to repartition the drive you need to change.

  • Printing problems when using automatic document feeder (HP Photosmart 309C)

When I print using the normal paper trays, everything comes out fine.  However, when I feed a document through the automatic document feeder, it comes out with four vertical lines running down the page.  I have tried cleaning the rollers, but that has not worked.  Anyone have any ideas/solutions?  Thanks in advance, Jack.

I see that this post was made in June of 2010, but there was no reply. I found the solution elsewhere:
Lift the scanner lid. You will see the main glass and a small glass about the width of a ruler. There are a couple of dots of debris on that small glass. Line up the lines to find them and clean with a bit of glass cleaner on a rag or napkin. The reason a small dot makes a line is the paper passes by the scanner with adf rather than the scanner passing by the paper on flatbed scans.

  • Button configure as Update but doesn't update the document

    Hi,
I have a form for a document library.  I also created an Approval workflow for it.  Once the requester completed and created a form, the WF then starts by emailing the approver to approve/reject the request.  I have 2 optional button for Deny
or Approve.  Each have rules that sets the Request-Status field to show approved or deny.  There is a button that I configure as "Action: Update Form".
Well, I select the Approve/Reject button, then select the Update button, close the form and no data was updated.  I added back the Form's Save button in the top ribbon, using that Save button then saves the data.   The Update button on the ribbon
    also doesn't save the data.
What is wrong with my Update button and how to fix this?
    Thank you.

Could you just map the buttons functionality to the Save action instead?  Same result if it works.
I trust that answers your question...
    Thanks
    C

  • Get File Information using the Document ID in Javascript

I store in a custom list the Document Id of a linked document. I need to retrieve some metadata - at least the filename - of that document. I have tried using the Search REST API specifying something like "DocID:INGX1-2-26" in my search query,
but nothing is returned, nothing found.
Is there any other way to get the file info when all I have is the Document ID? In the managed code, I could use the Microsoft.Office.DocumentManagement.dll which provides a way to get the file info using the DocId, but this is not available in Javascript.
    Any ideas?
    thanks.

    Hi,
As a workaround, we can create a custom web service with the Microsoft.Office.DocumentManagement.dll, then you can call the web service using JavaScript.

  • Using the Document Manager Rich Text Editor

I'm wondering whether there is a reasonable way we can use the Rich Text Editor (based on CKEditor) that is contained within the Document Manager task flow (primarily for editing Wiki pages) outside of the Document Manager itself? We have another type of content we need a Rich Text Editor for, but it would be great if we could use the inline image links, tables, links to documents in the content repository, etc.

Have you consider use Site Studio + Content Presenter?

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident by using the key sequence to rotate the keyboard layout.
    * http://support.microsoft.com/kb/258824 - How to change your keyboard layout
Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.
    * http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/The-Language-bar-overview The Language bar (overview)
    * Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar
    * You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar
    * Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar
    * You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application
    * The default key combination to rotate the layout is the Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift combination that is used in Firefox for menu items, so it is possible to change the layout accidentally.
    * To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)
    * Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change keyboards > Advanced key settings > Change key sequence
