Scanning error message, prints fine

I kept getting this error while trying to scan a document for the first time.
"An error occurred while communicating with the device. Please check that the device is properly connected and powered on."
To ensure the printer is connected I printed a pdf on file on the computer and that was successful.
I have installed from the CD given, and I have intalled software from the HP site that was brought up for my specific operating system OS X 10.9. I have checked my firewall and allowed it to be open for sharing printers. I have restarted my wifi network from the modem, I have restarted the computer, and I have restarted the printer. I have reset my printers and reselected this printer...which is the only printer that was available to be selected. The computer recognizes the printer fully, however it just keeps giving me the message quoted above for scanning.

Thanks for replying. I ended up calling customer service and after 1.5 hours we determined the printer was broken. It could not copy either, in fact the interior scanner was inoperable.
I returned it to the store because HP never called me back for a new printer to be sent. SO glad they didn't call me back. I went back to Walmart and bought UP. We have an Envy now and it is AWESOME!!!

Hp 5535 will not scan, error message printer not found

I have a HP Envy 5535. I have only been able to scan one time with it. I scanned 22 documents, after running HP Scan Doc 4.4. Each time the HP Scan Doc states that everything is OK, yet as soon as I try to do even a test scan, I get the error message "Printer not found." I have also tried to run this scan with my McAfee virus firewall off, and it still doesn't work. I have also identified it on McAfee as part of my network.

I am sorry that you cannot scan with your HP Envy 5535, but I am happy to help!
For further assistance I will need to know:
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the printer is connected, Wireless, or USB.
If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please try going through this scanning guide. A 'The computer is not responding' Error Message Displays During Scanning.

Wont print get error messages works fine on internet explorer

Any time I want to print something it gives me an error message.This has happened for a while.Warning: Error in parsing value for 'filter'. Declaration dropped.

Error message "print head failure"

My photosmart 7520 has suddenly shown error message "print head failure", I have followed the cleaning instructions on the hp website, pulled the tabs out on each cartridge & made sure they clicked in correctly. The printer is only about 8 months old. Help!

Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the error "print head failure".
I realize that you have already stated that you did some cleaning advised from a document that you used from the HP web site.
I do however have a few other steps that I suggest we try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I have also located a document that deals with the following error 'Problem with Printhead,' 'Printer Failure,' 'Ink System Failure,' or a '0x...' or a 'C2...' Error M....

If you don't get an answer from a Lightroom user here, you may need to contact Adobe and possibly Epson about it.

ERROR Message: Printer size and type paper is incorrect. Its set for automatic detection and regular paper. I unstinstalled and reinstalled the software...and tried other settings. It wont be print just cancels.

Error message 'printer offline'

error message 'printer offline' when I try to print from my laptop, but prints from my ipad - officejet pro 8600plus.
the ite will then print randomly 1/2 hour or days later.

What are you trying to print and what is your operating system on the computer you are using? Does it take a long time to print from your computer or the iPad? Have you had this issue for long?
For now I am going to recommend we remove and reinstall the software onto your computer as a preliminary step.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:

HP Scan error message using HP C7280 All in one Printer

I have been scanning documents successfully until recently. I am using a Mac with OS X 10.7.5 and receive the following error when using HP Scan.
The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device. Try the following steps. After each step, try scanning again.
- Restart the program.
- Close all programs that may be using the device.
- Reboot the computer.
I've tried downloading multiple drivers with no success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see when you try to scan with your HP Photosmart C7280 with your Mac running the 10.7 Operating system you get an error 'The scan cannot be performed because another program has control of the HP imaging device. Try the following steps. After each step, try scanning again.'.
Please complete the steps listed below:
Scrub/ Uninstall
• Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
• Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
• * Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers. Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
• Click uninstall.
Reset Printing System
1. Click the Apple icon ( ), and then click System Preferences.
2. In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan dialog box opens.
3. Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
4. Click OK to confirm the reset.
5. Type the correct Name and Password.
6. Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol..
Repair Disk Permissions
1.On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
2.Double-click Disk Utility.
3.Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
4.Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
5.Once the repair is complete, restart the computer.
Restart the printer. Now you will need to install the print driver using the Apple Updates. Click on the link below and follow the on screen instructions:

MX Navigator for MX882 stopped scanning, error message.

I have a Canon MX Pixma 882 (All-In-One printer). The computers runs Windows 7 (64 bit) that is on a HP Touchsmart 320 PC. The printer was connected by Wifi up till a few days ago, but has stopped working. Now it is connected by USB, so it copies, prints and faxes fine. However, the MX Navigator "Error" Message, since then, has popped up everytime I try to scan paperwork to email.
Things I've tried:
*Uninstalling all Canon Software. (And Reinstalling)
*Removed the Printer from the Computer all together. (And Reinstalled)
*Went through OS:\C:\<Windows>\<Twain_32> (There are no additionals files but the '2' MX_printer files & the wiatwain.ds)
What can I do to fix this problem?

Cannot add printer...Error message Print Spooler not running

just purchased HP with vista. I had a HP Photosmart 6525 that did work at one time and then it stopped. Thinking the printer was the problem, I bought an HP 5660 and i get the same error messages. It did work to begin with but has stopped. I have unplugged and replugged in everything. Tried downloading drivers again and keep getting errors. I get an option to download the drivers from windows update or windows/INF/oem.inf. It does not matter which I choose as I keep getting a message that windows found driver software for your device but encountered an erro while attempting to install it. On of the installers for this device cannot perform the installation at this time. When I go to add on a printer I get the message that Windows can't open Add printer. The local print spooler is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. I have restarted the machine many times and gone through the help with the spooler and there is nothing there to be spooled. I have downloaded and run the print & scan doctor, but that did not help. thanks for any and all help

The spooler is part of WIndows, if it is stopped (or broken), no printer will work.Try clear and restart the spooler (this page may help: http://hpanswers.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-start-stop-and-restart-print.html and if this doesn't solve the problem, you need to reinstall Windows (or run a system recovery to reset Windows).

HP 7520 Photosmart scanning error message: Unable to connect to Web Services

After many successful efforts in the past, suddenly I cannot scan to email on my HP Photosmart 7520. I have tried several of the solutions posted to no avail. I keep getting the error message "Unable to connect to Web Services. Confirm Iternet access and try again." I'm on Mac OS X. Very frustrating; I would appreciate help.

All appears in order per the Doctor, yet scan error message continues

I have deleted and reinstalled software and drivers for the HP Deskjet 3050, J610. Ran HP print and scan doctor, and the results indicate all ok with the scanner.I have went to the help pages and restarted the WINDOWS 7 Windows Image Acquisition. The printer will scan from PAINT.
When I test scan, or scan the message comes back HP Scan-An error occurred while scanning. I do notice on all file extension types the resolution option is blank, with no choice of options, and the printer gives message, successful scan.

As Paint is working, the Print and Scan Doctor is functioning, and you have restarted the WIA protocol, we do not have a lot of options left. We can still try the following:Uninstall the software.Restart the PC.Click on Start and type cmd where it says Search Programs and Files.In the black window that appears type in msiexec /unregister and press enter.In the same window type in msiexec /regserver and press enter.Now type in sfc /scannow and press enter.Run the Microsoft Fixit tool by clicking on this link. Under Section 2 Select Print, Fax, Scan, Share or Save and run the four suggested steps by clicking on each Run Now one at a time.Restart your PC.Disable your Firewall and Antivirus software temporily.Run the installer again.Try scanning from HP Scan (with the Firewall and Antivirus software still disabled).If you are still unable to scan using HP Scan then something within your operating system is corrupt. At this point your options are to contact whoever manufactured your PC or reinstall Windows. I hope this helps and I hope you have a great day!

M1319F Scan error message " cannot communicate with the scanner"

I have a HP M1319F which was able to print/scan/fax. Recently the fax function has ceased. I have ordered a fax board which will hopefully resolve that problem. Now it does not scan as well. Laserjet 3330 scan error message

My laserjet 3330 says "scanner error power on power off." It don't know where the power button is, but I unplug it for substantial periods and when i plug it back in to the power source, I get the same error message. In the meantime, it will not allow me to print, scan, copy or receive/send faxes. Any suggestions???? I love this printer and hope I can figure it out soon.
