Scanning from printer to iPad.

I own a Canon MX 452 printer. My iPad will drive the printer, but I do not understand how to scan documents on the printer, then down- load them to my iPad for e-mailing. Has anyone done this? Can you tell me how?

I downloaded a free Canon app from the App Store, but I don't know if it helps address this issue. On your advice, I took iPad photos of five documents, checked each one on the camera roll to make certain it was legible, centered etc., then selected all five, selected the e-Mail icon and sent them to my intended recipient. Thanks for giving methe clues to learn this.

Scanning from 5520 to iPad in wireless direct mode ?

I have a Photosmart 5520 printer and a 3G iPad - without any other computer equipment or WiFi network or
router in the house. The printing from the iPad to the 5520 in the Wireless direct mode works well.
My question is if I can scan from the 5520 to the iPad ? Have looked in the HP ePrint app for directions
or control buttons but can't find any. Is scanning from 5520 to iPad possible ? Selecting "scan to computer"
on the 5520 control panel does not work.

Hello Johan,
The HP ePrint app is a different app than the one I have mentioned above.
The HP Printer Control mobile app is a different one which also allow scanning.
simply open the Apple App Store, search for HP Printer Control and install it.
Through that app you will also be able to scan.

Change folder that scanner saves to when scanning from printer

Just got an OfficeJet 8600 all in one, and it appears that when you use the scan button on the printer's control panel to scan, by default it saves the files into your My Documents folder. Is there any way to change where it saves to? I'd prefer if it would save to my Scans folder that is inside My Documents, but dont see an option anywhere to change that, so not sure if that is even configurable.

Hello rr2222, On my OJ 8600 Pro Plus setup - yes, the two "destinations" ... scan from printer and scan from PC ... become aligned to the same folder, once the destination folder has been setup just once using the (Windows) Control Panel icon. Although I need to take a slightly different 'path' through my HP-installed Control Panel shortcut from that described by ShlomiL in order to find my "Scan dialog", once I've set a preferred "Save location" for each of the "Scan to JPEG" or "Scan to PDF" etc. options (using the 'Advanced' link that's alongside them on my Scan dialog), back at my printer I can now choose "Scan" then "Computer" then [one of my named PCs on the list] ... and I can then select one of the same "Scan to JPEG" or "Scan to PDF" etc. options - and the scanned file pops up in my chosen folder on my PC. Does AirPrint allow to scan from scanner to iPad?

I have a scanner/printer which supports Airprint. The question is:
For work's reason, I have a lot of invoice which I have to send by email. I have an iPad 2 at work but I can't find a way to scan my invoices from scanner to iPad. Does AirPrint allow it?

Thanks Eric, it helps a lot. Togugh I hoped there was something like "AirScan" or maybe AirPrint itselef allowed to do the same thing as printing. It's a lot easier to do.

Cm1312nfi mfp on 32bit windows 7 - upgraded with full solution sw and can't scan from printer

I have had a cm1312nfi mrp since 2009 that works fine but my HP Solution centre stopped giving me ink levels.
I uninstalled the printer software and downloded the current full solution sw for 32 bit windows 7 from HP. The printer works but I did not 'get' HP solution centre back and so cannot scan from the printer.
[I did download HP toolbox so I can see ink levels and can test the scan function which does work. However it does not have the ocr capabiltity which I had before and also it doesn't allow me to operate the scanner from the printer.]
Can you help me either get HP solution Centre back and functioning on my computer or else suggest some other solution to my problem?

The HP Solution Center is a software for inkjet printers as the HP Officejet product line, not for laserjet printers as the CM1312.
You may find the Supplies status within the HPToolboxFX softwre by selecting Supplies:

Can't scan from printer control panel on Canon Pixma MG5270

I have just connected my Canon Pixma MG5270 to my iMac running OSX 10.7.3 via WiFi. Printing works great, and scanning from the desktop "Canon MP Navigator EX - MG 5200 series" V 4.0.3 application works like a dream. When I try to scan via the operations panel on the printer/scanner the following comes up - Set the PC to start scanning". This worked fine when connected directly via USB cable. I have searched the web and believe I have the correct settings, particuliarly in MP Navigator:
1. Main Menu -> One-click -> Start scanning by clicking the button (checked)
2. Main Menu -> One-click -> Preferences -> General -> Compress scanned images when transferring (checked) -> Change -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG 5200 series_xxxxxxxxx) -> Scan-from-Operation-Panel Settings -> Network Device List (selected Canon MG5200 series_xxxxxxx)
I have restarted the iMac and printer and always with the same result.
Any help appreciated!!

I haven't read through it fully, did I mention it's a very long article? There's something about registering the scanner during installation.

Can't scan from printer control panel - Officejet 8600a

I receive a "can't scan, print or copy" error message when attempting to scan to e-mail or send a scanned image to external media (USB). However, scanning from the laptop works well. What could be the issue?

Are you seeing this, "can't scan, print or copy" error message, on the computer or on the printer screen? Please also let me know how you are initiating these tasks so I can better understand when the message appears.
In the meantime, do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector
^ This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

ENVY 5530 All in One not founf when trying to scan from Printer Assistant

I just purchased and installed (online) HP ENVY5530. It will print, but will not scan from the desk top ,Printer assistant nor from the printer to the computer. message comes up "The HP ENVY5530 series wasn not found." I've tried the print scan doctor and also uninstalled and installed again still doesn't scan. Any ideas?

Hi 3412, Ok, open Add/Remove from Control Panel, and then uninstall everything associated with this printer. Once you have it uninstalled reboot the computer. After upgrading to OS 10.8.1 I can no longer scan from my Canon MP240 printer when it is connected to Airport Express.

I can no longer scan from printer (Canon Pixma MP240) when it is connected to Airport Express, although printing is no affected. However, when connected directly to MBP scanning works fine. I have tried all the standard remedies; reinstalling drivers, resetting printer system, selecting sharing options, but no luck. Previous to Mountain Lion this function worked fine. Any ideas how to regain this capability?

I'm almost completely certain that the scanning feature worked before the update. Having said that though, I don't scan a great deal and it may be the case that when I have done, the printer was directly connected to the MBP. However, since I have a laptop it's far more logical that I would have had the printer connected to Airport Express for reasons of portability so I can't really see that I would have had the printer connected directly to the laptop. Besides this, I have no memory of having this problem previously. Therefore, I don't think my memory is to blame although of course, if it were I'd have no way of knowing!

Can't scan from HP 7520 Printer for iMac using Yosemite 10.10.1

We have a new iMac that is running on Yosemite 10.10.1. I am trying to get the scan from printer function to work, but the HP window on the printer didn't register the computer.
So I downloaded and installed the driver for OSX 10.10 from the HP website. The window on the 7520 now lists the computer when I click the scan function, but the scan fails, and the window says the computer is not connected.
The name on the downloaded file says it is for "Mavericks," so I thought maybe it dosen't work with Yosemite?
When I open the printer scanning settings on the iMac, it tells me that the "enable scan" function isn't working, and that I need to download the latest software from HP.
I thought I did that.
Is there a way to make this work?

My new printer is connected wireless to my network. I can print and scan from the computer fine, but can't scan from printer to computer.
I tried going into the HP Utility folder to confirm the Scan Settings, but all I can do is scan from the computer. It doesn't give me another option.
I have an HP Office 6700 Premium trying to scan to my (new) Mac OS 10.9.3

I saw your post about how you are able to scan from the computer however, cannot scan from the printers front panel to your computer. Sometimes the connection is interrupted when the computer or printer or even router disconnects or falls into a sleep mode.
Here is a suggestion for you to try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Repair disk permissions
Re-add the printer back (not the AirPrint driver)

Is it possible to scan from a Canon Pixma MX432 to my iPad? I want to be able to scan on the Canon with a .pdf of the scanned document appearing on my iPad (wifi version( I AM ABLE to print from my iPad to the Canon using AirPrint.

How do I print to and scan from Canon MG5220

I own a Mac mid-2011, an iPad2 and just ordered 2 iPhone4's. I have a Canon Pixma MG5220.
I want to print from all devices and scan to the Mac an possibly the iPad2.
Will the Airport Express or Airport Extreme allow both printing and scanning?

If the printer is a multi function device and you plan on connecting it to the either the AE or AEX via USB then no it will not scan to the iMac. However if the printer is a true wi-fi device then sure you can scan if it's connected either via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to the iMac. As far as scanning directly to the iPad no I don't believe it has the ability. However there is an easy work around, Dropbox. Create a Dropbox account and have both the iMac and iPad connect to it. Then when you scan scan to where the iMac has the Dropbox account and it will simultaneously scan to the iPad too. As far as printing from the iPad and iPhone 4's you should search for an app. As far as I know there isn't one but I'm not very knowledgeable about IOS either. If you had purchased one of HP printers that supports IOS then printing from IOS would be pretty easy.

Scan from Envy Printer to MacBook suddenly stopped working

I recently installed an HP Envy 100 printer, scanner copier. For the first week everything worked perfectly. I could print and scan wirelessly using my MacBook, iPhone, iPad or the Envy's controls themselves. Recently when I touched the "scan" icon on the Envy I was taken to the "Choose Scan Destination" as normal, then when I selected "Computer" I received this message:
"You can start a scan from your computer OR scan to your computer from the printer.
Make sure the HP printer software is installed.
Window's Only - Network Connection
In the HP printer software, enable the "Activate Scan to Computer" function.
For Mac and USB connections, the "Activate Scan to Compuer" function is automatically enabled.
Then the option to click "ok' which only returns me to the previous screen.
I used to see instead (when it was working properly) the two computers on my network and I would simply select the correct one and and the scan would wireless appear in my documents folder.
I called HP, we did all their trouble shooting and they said they could no longer help me. The suspected the problem was with my wireless network and suggest I contact apple. They also said the Envy uses Port 427 to scan wirelessly and that I should tell that to someone at apple when I am trouble shooting my airport extreme and network.
Anyone encounter the same problem and know how to fix it?

I suspect this has more to do with the fact that HP &/or Apple haven't gotten their act together to ensure that OS X Lion worked with the printer? I too bought an Envy 100 a few days ago for my daughter to take to university with her. On unboxing it at home to check it worked, we found initial set-up pretty straight forward..... but the only way we can get it to print is by having her 2010 MacBook Pro connected (NOT wireless). My 2011 MacBook Air won't connect to the printer at all, and neither will our iMac...although the latter did "briefly" show the Envy 100 as an available printer before asking for a software update which wouldn't download.
I can only assume that we are expected to sit and wait until HP &/or Apple deign to pull their fingers out; in the meantime there is ZERO information readily available from either company as to what it going on, despite the fact Apple are happy to push HP printers in-store and on-line.
I'm severely tempted just to re-box the printer and find one that, you know "just works "
