Scanning from RX620 Epson -- no option to scan in jpeg ?

I am using Epson All i one printer/scanner (RX620) & when I scan to my computer (OS X 10.9.3) to edit pictures I cannot default to jpeg ( not listed as option) the default is TIFF.
Epson have responded to my question saying that they have not issued a driver for the APPLE ... is there any to overcome this.( I think this has only just recently happened as I can only remember scanning to a jpeg default ?

Try using the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder for scanning.
Launch Image Capture located in your Applications folder.
Connect the scanner to your Mac whether Wi-Fi or USB.
Click the very small black box bottom left side of the Image Capture window.
You'll see this pop up menu: Connecting this (device) opens:
You can select a default app to scan (Image Capture) and select a folder from the Import To pop up menu on the right to save scanned files to.
If you need help with the Image Capture software, click Help from the Image Capture menu bar.

Scanning from all-in-one printer to Elements

I have a Dell 4000 desktop computer, running Windows 7, 32-bit version, an Epson Stylus SX515W all in one printer/scanner etc, and Photoshop Elements 6. I am told that I cannot scan from my Epson scanner to Elements 6, and that I will need Photoshop Elements 10 to do this.
1. Is this correct?
2. If so, do I have to buy a full version of Elements 10, or can I buy an upgrade?
3. If only an upgrade is needed, what is it called, what will it cost and where can I download it from?
4. If I have to buy the full version of Elements 10, will I need any other software to get it to scan images from my Epson Stylus SX515W?

First of all I would like to inform that PSE 6 is not tested on Win 7 and is very old version.
In order to scan from PSE, you will need Twain plugin which is required to scan from within Adobe Applications.
To check if you already have twain or not, follow this :
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export\
If you find a file called "Twain", then you should be able to scan, if not then you have to download Twain from here : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4688&fileID=4376
Save the file, unzip it and then follow these steps :
Close PSE 6.
After that , navigate to PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Win_en_US\PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Win_en_US\Optional Plug-Ins\Win32, here you will find Twain_32.8BA file
Copy this file and then paste under : C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export\
Launch PSE 6 and check if you get the option to scan under File >> Import menu
If the above solution doesnt work, then you may have to ugrade to PSE 10.

Photosmart C310 not scanning from the All in One.

Since reloading drivers after viruses, the scanner asks me to scan from the computer. I used to scan direct from the C310.
I tried to scan from the printer's webpage but the save button was missing. My only options are PDF or jpeg images now. I just want documents. Can anyone give me any advice please?

I understand you're unable to scan from the front panel of the Photosmart Premium C310A. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
If you have a Windows computer, please follow this entire HP document on Windows: A 'No Scan Options' or 'Scan settings are not set' Message Displays on the Printer.
You can scan from the Solution Center for more scanning options. I will provide this HP document on How to Scan from the Solution Center (Windows). If you would like to scan using Web Scan, then I will provide an example on how to save the document:
You have to right click with your mouse on the scanned image and select save image as. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

Scan problems with Epson XP-800

Just switched to Mountain Lion and now cannot scan with Epson XP-800. Just get empty files. Installed Epson new drivers, but no help. Printing is fine. Any ideas?

Yes I've tried your suggestions already. When I open Image Capture it reads "No Camera or Scanner Selected". There is no way to load a scanner. :\
When I open System Preferences/Print&Scan, click on the Epson, click on Scan, click on Open Scanner... the little scan "icon" in the upper right hand corner isn't lit up.
In Preview, when I click on "Import from Epson XP-800 Series", the screen is blank. Eventually an error reads "An error occurred while communication with scanner.
Nor can I scan from the Epson into my Mac.
I'm not the only one. I found one other person online with the same problem. My sister and I also have the same printer and she's the one who alerted me of the problem. When I tried to fix her printer... I couldn't do. So I checked mine... same problem as her's.
This problem started after one of the last 2 upgrades, because we were scanning not that long ago.
As for the link you provided... been there, done that. I already uploaded their most recent driver... and nothing changed.
Please help we are dead in the water on some work projects!!!

HP Envy 5530 How do I change the Default Scan from Jpeg to PDF?

Does anyone know how to change the default settings for the "Scan to PC" options? I would like to scan to PDF verses the current default JPEG. Any help is greatly appreciated. Are you having problems when attempting to print or scan from Windows 8.1 after printing/scanning successfully prior to upgrading to 8.1? Uninstall/Re-install. With this, I might suggest going to your product page on HP.com (sample link posted below) and then hover over "TROUBLESHOOTING" in the top menu and choose "HOW TO" from the drop-down menu. Click on "Install / Uninstall" link to take you to a document that will walk through the uninstall process. When that is complete, then click the "DRIVERS" menu on the same product page. Select the correct Microsoft Windows 8.1 version (either 32 or 64 bit) and then download and install the latest driver. Good Luck!

HT4505 I have 4 accounts on my Mac Pro running Mavericks. From one account I can scan with my Epson NX420, but the other three accounts do not see the scanner. Can print from all accounts.

Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!

My Adobe XI only shows gray pages when I try to scan to my drive from an Epson WF-3540. The file shows it is a multiple kb pdf file. To read it I have to e-mail it to myself and let online mail reader open it. Can scan jpg and tiff with no problem.

Is there a compatibility issue with Adobe Reader XI 11.0.10 and the pdf scan program fro an Epson WF-3540 All In One? Is it an Epson Problem? Is it because the "source" shown in Properties from an Epson is a PDF 5.xx file? I can't understand why I can e-mail the item and get it to appear in the online Adobe reader, but if I try to save it to my computer drives it comes out with blank (gray) pages again. Is it a Win7 problem? Help I have a lot of scanning to do and only know everything was fine until about ten days to two weeks ago. Don't know if an update for Epson, Win7, or Adobe might be problem.

Thank you very much.! Two weeks of very frustrating uninstalls, reinstalls, cursing, moaning and thinking about buying a new scanner all solved with the check in the box. I have no idea how it got unchecked, as I never mess around with things that work. Incidentally, I got a "Fraud Detection Alert" on ~grafitti's message. When I went to the Adobe page and read the answer, I could not find the "Correct" button anywhere. Please see that ~grafitti gets some more points.

Can't scan from epson workforce 845

I can't scan documents from my epson workforce 845 printer. I use a wireless home network to connect to printer. Printing works fine, but epson software shows communication error when I try to scan.

Scanning drivers over wireless typically aren't as good as printer drivers themselves. Try hooking it up directly via USB and see if it works that way. Have a look at my FAQ* to see if any open source drivers might work better.

Firewall blocks scanning from Epson Artisan 810

I have a G5 Dual. I am just got an Epson Artisan All-in-One scan/fax/print machine with the ability to connect to my home network with wifi. I can scan with the Epson fine if I start the scanning software on my Mac and use the software controls from my Mac. The Epson has an LCD control panel from which I should also be able to scan, but I get a network connection error unless I turn off the G5's Firewall in the File Sharing Control Panel.
Since I use a 2wire router with a firewall built in do I need to have the firewall turned on in File Sharing CP too? If so, what settings can I make so that I can scan from the Control Panel on the Epson? I have printer sharing turned on but that doesn't help.

I ran a scan from the desktop with Network Utility open and the Netstat tab selected. While the scan was taking place I clicked the Netstat button and the window populated with what you see below. It makes no sense to me. Should all this be necessary to make a scanner from a major company such as Epson work properly? BTW, I tried adding Port 4 with in the TCP field of the Sharing dialog in the Firewall Prefs but still no go. Thanks for your help.

Cannot initiate scan from Epson WF-4630 over wifi

I just bought a new Epson WF-4630 all-in-one, and it is set up wirelessly on my wifi network. I can get it to print just fine, as well as scan AS LONG AS the scan is initiated from my Mac; if I try to initiate the scan from the unit, it tells me that it can't find a computer on which Document Capture is installed (Epson's required software). It IS installed, and after hours on the phone, after hours on email, with Epson's technical support, they suppose it is a problem with my Mac.
I've allowed every Epson program access through the firewall, have no third-party firewall installed, have updated every driver, installed, reinstalled, restarted, deleted, redownloaded.... innumerable times.
I've got an older 3.06 Core 2 Duo w/ 4G Ram, running OSX 10.9.5

I am trying to scan a document, but my printer utility will not give me the option to scan.

I am trying to can a document on my computer. However, when I bring up the printer utility it does not give me the option to scan. I have a laptop that does allow this option, but I don't want to go through the hassle of downloading to one device and emailing to another. HELP!!!

My experience, albeit slightly different, is that the scan functionality available from an Epson XP-600 is less on my iMac 21.5" than on an old Dell machine that ran on Microsoft. I suspect it's because the majority of home computers & laptops run on Microsoft platforms and this gets reflected in the amount of programming effort put in by printer/scanner manufacturers.

Using 10.8.5 Epson scanner won't scan transparencies.

Using a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.5 the original driver supplied by Epson for my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo will not work. The one recommended is Image Capture from Apple but this shows no option to scan transparencies. Anybody solved this problem? Thanks for any help.

HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 - Can't scan from Windows

We recently purchased and installed an HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color MFP M575 to be used as a networked all-in-one solution for a number of offices. I have been able to get it set up on our network and have installed the appropriate drivers on the requested Windows 7 x64 machines, and network printing works perfectly. However, it seems that despite the fancy scanning features available from the all-in-one itself (scan to email, scan to a network folder, etc.), I can't find any way to do an old-fashioned scan from Windows.
I have installed the full software solution available on the driver download page for the device, and while Windows lists the device as a "Multi Function Printer; Scanner" it does not recognize it as an actual scanner. The built-in Windows Fax and Scan simply reports that no scanners are installed. The software installation did not include the HP Solution Center (which I am used to seeing from my experience with various other HP all-in-one devices) or any equivalent for direct scanning. The driver download page for the device does not include any separate scanning drivers, so I can't be certain if they were included with the full installation or exist at all.Some of our staff also use Adobe Acrobat to scan, and even that fails to recognize the MFP as a scanner.
We'll eventually be setting up the device to scan directly to a network folder, but we need a fallback while IT takes their time getting it set up; I can't imagine that the simplest option is not available at all. I must be missing something here, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: To add, I also ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Interestingly, it reports the device as a printer and only offers to "Fix Printing" without any sort of resolution for my scanning problem.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.
