Scanning from up deskjet 2540

Hi
Can I scan from my hp deskjet 2540 to my iPad air in order to forward as an email.
Thanks

Hey @neilarmstrong27 ,
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to ask that question on the HP Forums today!
I understand that you are looking to scan to your i-Pad on your HP DeskJet 2540.
For you to do this follow these steps;
1. Put the printer on the same wireless network as the i-Pad.
2. Download the App called "HP All-In-One Printer Remote"
3. Find your printer on the App and connect to it.
4. Go to the scan tab and scan it to your i-Pad.
5. Use the "save" button and then do all your e-mail stuff.
Hope you find these instructions straight forward. Have a great day!

  • Hp deskjet 2540 prints blank

So the printer performs all calibrations and ink cleansings perfectly and inks up the page just as it should, but as soon as a file is sent such as a simple word doc or pdf the printer acts as if it is printing, but ink is not applied to the paper. I've tried using both the computer and an iPhone to try and send  a document but both were to no avail, any idea what might be going on?

Hey , Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here. I see that you are having some issues with blank pages printing from your Deskjet 2540. I can help with that. Now the issue you are describing sounds like a hardware issue, but you are getting blank pages from your Mac 10.9 instead, which is a software issue. What we'll do then is troubleshoot both. To start I would like you to take a sheet of paper with both black and colour on it and put it on the scanner glass. Once that is done we'll make a black copy by clicking on the black button on the printer that looks like a pie and then a coloured copy by clicing on the coloured button on the printer that looks like a pie.
If neither or only one of those pages prints then you can follow this document to troubleshoot your hardware issue. If both pages prints out properly then we'll do the following:On your Mac click on your Apple icon and go to System Preferences.Open Printers and Scanners.Hold down the Command key and click on the picture of the printer on the left side.Click on Reset Printing System.Once the printer has disappeared click on the plus button in the bottom left corner.Select the printer along the top.Next to Use click on Airprint and select Deskjet 2540.Click on Add.Try printing. This should allow you to print normally now. If you have any other issues please let me know. Likewise if this resolves everything then please let others know by clicking on Accept as Solution below my post. I hope this helps and I hope you have a great evening!

  • Deskjet 2540 all in one printer - does the scanning work with Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.1 ?

I was trying to scan a document using this new printer and my Mac OS Yosemite 10.10.1 and I cannot even find the page that allows me to scan since now it is all through the computer.  Is this printer compatible with this operating system? and if so, what can I do to see the page where the file actually shows up to scan?
    thanks,

  • Deskjet 2540 can't scan on OSX Yosemite

I am unable to get the Deskjet 2540 to scan in OSX Yosemite. It worked under Mavericks. Since upgrading OSX doesn't even seem able to recognize that the device is a scanner. I did a full uninstall and reinstall of the HP software. Printing works fine, as does making copies using the physical buttons on the device. Scanning options are greyed out in Preview et al., there is no scanner tab for the printer in System Preferences. Attempting to scan in the HP Scan utility results in the error "HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 All-In-One is currently unavailable. Please check if it is turned on and connected, or try again later."

Hello @babelfish , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're experiencing scan issues. I would like to try and assist.
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Deskjet 2540 - connect to pc via USB, can I print from android tablet as well?

    Hi,
I've just bought a HP Deskjet 2540 all in one printer.
I have set it up via USB connection to my windows 7 pc, and it is printing fine.
I also have an android tablet.  Can I also print from this whilst using the printer via USB on my pc.
Any help on if this is possible and what steps I need to do if it is would be appreciated (I have been reaeding the help section on the website but I am just getting more confused).
     Lesley

    Hi @Lesley54R,
You don’t need to have the printer listed with the two different connections unless you’ll be switching back and forth from being connected by USB cable and wireless.  You can delete the one you don't think you'll be using.
To print the web page, please use the browser found within the app. I’ve included the ePrint Mobile App FAQs document for your reference.
In addition I’ve also included the ePrint Product Specifications document. This document has the list of supported email programs, file types and print limitations.
    Hope this helps!

  • Printing in black and white from an ipad on a deskjet 2540 without going through a router

My wife purchased a HP Deskjet 2540 all in one so that she can print directly from her ipad. She is going directly to the printer not through our router. It works great except that everything is printed in color? And unable to adjust the size such as fit to page etc.
How do we get it to print directly from the ipad in black and white and is there a way to set the size eg: Fit to page etc.???

You most likely need to download the HP app for your iPad to do the correct print settings to properly print - this might be the case here. If you still download and install the HP app and it doesn't work then there might be a limit to what your iPad can do for prints.

Exactly what is the message you get and when. Presumably you are using IE9 to download the Firefox Installer file.
Try the site http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html to download the latest Firefox version in the correct language.

  • Cant remember password to print from my phone to deskjet 2540

I recently set up the HP Deskjet 2540 to print from my HTC phone. I need to sign into the wi fi connection specifically set up for the printer, rather than my usual connection, if I want to print directly from my phone downloads. Trouble is, my phone is asking for the password to get connected. I have no idea what it is. I printed out a network configuration page, which gave me a PIN but then what do I do? Just putting in the PIN does nothing.
Hope this makes sense to someone!

    Hello lizrev,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I think you are looking for the Wireless Direct password for the Deskjet 2540. You should be able to access this password by printing an information page for Wireless Direct.
To do so, press and hold the Wireless Direct button for three seconds, once released, a page will print with the password.
    Hope this helps,

  • HP Deskjet 2540 scan does not work with windows 10

my HP Deskjet 2540 scan does not work with windows 10, however, it still does eprinting. i need the solution and i haven't got it.

OK, More information.   Installed Media Portal 1.  This works with the tuner card without additional modification, so this appears to be some kind of issue with the software.  Media Portal 1 does install a different version of Direct X, I don't know if that could have anything to do with it, but HP MediaSmart Live TV still comes up with the same error and will not run.

  • How do I scan from my HP Deskjet 6500A Plus to my Surface Pro wirelessly?

My scan app does not recognize my scanner even though it does recognize the printer.  I am able to print to the printer from my Surface Pro, but I am not able to scan from the printer to the Pro.  Does scanning require a hard connection to the computer? If so, what kind of cable is used?

You might need to install software from HP for your printer.

  • Wireless Printing issues with HP Deskjet 2540

    Hello everyone,
I am experiencing an issue with an HP Deskjet 2540 printer - it prints if I have connected it to a USB cable; however, it refuses to print if I try to print wirelessly.
I had initially solved this problem when I went to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners and noticed two Deskjet 2540 series icons in a window titled 'Printers'. I ended up removing one of these icons and set the other one as a default, which seemed to temporarily solve my problem. Now, I see two icons back in this 'Printers' menu and my printer refuses to print through my wireless connection.
My printer is connected to my internet connection so I don't think there is an issue here - I also have recently installed the software for this printer to make sure there was not some sort of driver issue; however, this does not seem to give me the permanent solution I am looking for.
Any Advice? My operating system is OS X Version 10.9.5

    Hey @love2dance,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I understand you're having difficulty printing wirelessly with your HP Deskjet 2540 All-in-One Printer.  I would like to assist you with this and may have some steps that will ensure you can print wirelessly from your Mac.
I recommend you start from scratch and re-do your printer install and wireless setup for best results.
Firstly, make doubly sure your printer is connected to your wireless network by doing the following:
Step one: Prepare for installationTo gather your network name (SSID) and password (WEP key or WPA passphrase), you can ask the person who originally set up your network, see the documentation that came with the router, or contact the manufacturer. HP cannot set up or change the network SSID or the password.
Make sure that you have the following requirements before you begin:
Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
WEP key or WPA security passphrase
A computer that is connected to the wireless network.
Internet access. HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
Your wireless-capable HP product. Place it close to the computer during the installation procedure.
A USB cable (used only during installation).
    Administrator privileges or password
Make sure the product, access point, and computer are all on, and that the computer is connecting to the wireless network.
Connect the USB Cable to the rear port of the HP product and to any USB port on the computer.
Exit all applications running on your computer.
    Source
Secondly, prepare your Mac by removing any existing printers added:
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Scan from the View menu.
Click the "-" (Remove printer) button.
Next, click here to download and install your printer's software.  As you work your way through the setup, follow the prompts to convert your usb install to wireless.  With this setup completed successfully your wireless printing capability should be restored.
One way to preserve this wireless connection is to make sure your wireless mode/router is left on continually.  If at anytime your network connection is lost, reconnecting your printer will mean that it's being assigned a new IP address.  The significance here is that your Mac will be looking to connect with the printer at an IP address that is no longer applicable.
Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  Best of luck!

  • HP Deskjet 2540 won't print wireless when HP software is installed

I'm trying to set up my 2540 wirelessly on multiple PC's on my network. I can get it working on every one but my main PC (which is Windows 7 Pro). On the others I just "Add Network Printer" and used the windows drivers and didn't install the HP software, and it works fine. But on my main PC I want the scanner and ink levels and all that to work. As soon as I install the HP software and try to print it does nothing (in MS Office it gives the error "printer not ready") and shows 0 Documents pending in the tray.
It does print test pages from the HP Printer assistant, and the EWS, just not any regular windows programs
Print and scan doctor says it's fine. Turning off firewall is no help. Updated the newest driver from the website.
IP Address of printer is static, and ping works
    Ping statistics for 192.168.22.230:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 7ms, Maximum = 126ms, Average = 52ms
    Printing from mobile (android) works
Also scanning works just fine through the software
Not sure what else to try.
EDIT: now I can't get it to work at all, even after uninstalling the software and trying to Add Network Printer only
