Scanning going slow

The scanning function on my Epson Stylus Photo Printer PX810fw ( Wireless) is now going ridiculously slow since I updated to Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2 on 29/9/12. Epson recommended I dowload from the Apple Support Site > Epson Printers 2.12 < which I have done successfully, however the same problems still persists! Neither Apple Tech support or Epson Tech support can assist me any further. Any one any ideas?

Yes, thank you the simplest of all solutions, it works but how annoying is it that I have to do this on a supposedly wireless system, keyboard and mouse also wireless with no problems. But many thanks for your help, I and all the so called tech Support experts were looking too hard!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

REDO scanning goes in infinite loop and Too much ARCHIVE LOG

After we restart DATABASE, capture process REDO scanning goes in infinite loop and Too much ARCHIVE LOG being generated.
No idea whats going on.... otherwise basic streams functionality working fine.

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs or WAN and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

My G4 (OS 10.5.8) is gradually going slower (getting a lot of rainbow balls) and finally freezes.

My G4 (OS 10.5.8) keeps going slower and slower after boot-up and eventually start getting beach balls after every action, even scrolling until it finally freezes. The CPU is constantly grinding.

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac.

Terminal goes slow after install Mavericks OS

After I've update my OS to Mavericks.
Terminal goes really slow, I've found out that the problem must be from Xcode.
While I remove Xcode from my computer terminal works fine, and after I installed Xcode, it goes slow again.(It takes like 2 second for ls command)
Please help.
PS. my computer is MacBook Pro with Retina.

Startup items are in /Library/StartupItems/
You can delete them if you are an admin user. However it doesn't remove the actual software. The safest way to do that is to either use the manufacturers uninstaller or try to find uninstall steps listed on a forum or support site.
I'm inclear on 'Oplmgr' check that is up to date if you can, since it is using the old way to load a startup job.
Palm desktop is probably version dependant (check what you have)…

Soundflower looks out of date? Grab the installer (with an uninstaller IIRC) and update or remove it.
LogMe In, TeamViewer & Splashtop are running jobs in the system level too, so I'd spend time checking they are up to date or removed if they are not needed.
The Launch Daemons and Launch Agents are 'system level, with your own user version too - User Launch Agents.
I would clean out the failed background job…

Use the Finders 'Go Menu > Go to Folder…' to open the hidden ~/Library & look in the LaunchAgents folder for the .plist & delete it.
Reboot for the Startup items to be unloaded.

Mac Going Slow

I have a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 and it seems to be going slow. Is there some maintenance I should be doing to speed it up? I'm not very technical so please keep it simple. Thanks

What type of Mac, year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed
To find out info about your system,
Click on the Apple symbol in the upper left of the OS X main menu bar. A drop down menu appears.
Click About this Mac. A smaller popup window appears. This gives you basic info like what version of OS X your iMac is running, the speed of your iMac's CPU and how much RAM is installed.
Click on the button that says More Info. A larger window appears giving you a complete overview of your iMac's hardware specs. Highlight all of this info and copy/paste all of this into another reply to this post, editing out your iMac's serial number before actually posting the reply. This will tell us everything about your iMac so we may begin to help with your iMac issues.
How full is your Mac's hard drive?
Locate your iMac's hard drive icon on the OS X desktop. Click the icon once, then use the keyboard key combination Command-I. This will give you additonal info about your iMac's internal hard drive.
How many apps to you have launching at startup or login?
How many applications do you run simultaneously in the background while working in another application?
Do you run any antivirus software on your Mac? Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X.
Do you have apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac? These types of apps, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.

You have to tell me what is the configuration of your system. And for that answer the below question,
1) How many application server are attached?
2) Your system is ABAP or JAVA or ABAP+JAVA?
3) How many users are connecting to the system at the same time(Approx)?
4) How many dialog work process are defined in each application server?
5) What is the RAM size of your system
Please answer the following question then I can give you some performance tuning suggestion.

A reason why 3g is going slow for some of us

Hey,
A reason why someones 3g might be going slow is because the servers cant handle all the data with the new phones.
So ever since I got my iphone 3g, ive noticed that the 3g speeds are quite slow (~150kbps). In my area, we have very good 3g coverage so I was kinda suprised. I called AT&T and they told me that it was because the high volume of new 3g users(iphone users) that meant the servers were having trouble and were slowing down. I decided to try my phone late at night (~11pm or midnight) when there was less usage and then I started getting around 500kbps.
I suggest trying 3g speed tests when usage would be low like late at night. (iphonespeedtest.com is decent for checking speeds)
So, part or all of the problem seems to be with AT&T and not apple. AT&T needs to getting cracking on upgrading and expanding these servers.

The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again and it should work

Single Query suddenly goes slow until database restart or query change

Hello all,
Configuration I'm using is Oracle 10g EE 10.1.0.4.0 on Windows 2003 Server
I have performance issue with one single query. The query is called using dbExpress from Delphi application.
Since a month, almost every week this query starts going VERY slow. Usually it executes in a 0.5-1 second, but when it's slowed down, it takes approx. 4-5 minutes to execute.
The query runs on a single table (~4 000 000 rows) and runs on primary index. The index itself consists of 5 fields - the query uses the first 4 of them. I know it's not a good design but restructuring the table/index is out of question, AFAIK.
Until now, I figured out two ways to speed things up. The first and obvious is to restart the server or shut/start the database. It works. For a week. Then we're back at first square.
The second way is some kind of a mystery to me: If I change the query a little bit, never mind how - for example, adding 'and (1=1)' in the clause, after deploying the application, it starts running fast. Again for a week or so.
I've attached an jpeg showing the explain plans on slow and fast executing queries. They look almost the same.
I'm running out of ideas for now. It's very annoying (and unsafe) to restart the machine on a week basis. Thus any help is greatly appreciated.
Things I've done so far:
- installed last service packs from Oracle and Microsoft.
- tried different versions of dbexpora.dll.
- Regularly gathered and estimated statistics and analyzings.
- Made sure that the server is not under heavy load (antiviruses, firewalls, archive loggers are stopped or uninstalled for a while).
- made sure that there is enough free space on hard disks.
- the disk array itself is in good health - defragmented, HDD tools doesn't find anything suspicious.
Final thoughts: Maybe the sql cache is going overloaded and someway stops executing the query. That's why when I restart the machine or change the query clause insignificantly, it starts running fast. I took a peek on v$sql and v$sqlarea but there is nothing special, and honestly, I'm not very familiar reading the values in this view - I'm just comparing the values returned by this query with the others - they look similar.
Anyway, if someone could help, it would be great.

Sorry for the incomplete information. I tried to gather the mentioned in your second link additional data. Unfortunately, I cannot find the TKPROF utility - it's not in the bin directory, neither in any other folder. Guess it's not installed at all.
About rewriting the query, suggested in the first link you gave: it's so simple and clear that it should not be rewriten. As I mentioned before, every time I change the query even a little bit, it starts running well for a couple of days.
Anyway, here are the stats I've just gathered. Unfortunately, now the query performs well and I'm not able to give you stats, showing the slowed down query.

Mac mini headless - goes Slow!

I am wanting to run a Mac Mini (new 20013 base model) as a music stremer, and as headless. I want to control it on an iPad using RealVNC or si ilar.
However, I have read a problem exists where the MM goes into slow mode and becomes sluggish / useless as it thinks it hasn't
got a monitor connected. Is this correct, and if so, how can I avoid it?

Facts would be nice, I don't have much to go on, a couple of reports of that problem, but 100s of reports of using the Mini headless & no mention of any "Slow" problem!???

BSC WIZARD GOES SLOW AND THEN WRONG PAGE THEME OR CSS (CS_WIZARD)

We are trying to use the BSC Web Wizard (/sap/bc/bsp/sap/cs_wizard), but when we all it it always goes to slow (very very slow), and it gives us a web page without any theme or css schema.
When we see the other web pages (SEM_BSC, SEM_MC, SEM_VDT) the web pages asks us a user and password of the BI Intance. But in the case of the Wizard, it doesn't ask us nothing at all.
Can someone help me please????

Sync with ipod classic going slow

i reformatted my ipod and updated it etc.
when im syncing it for the first time now it goes average(fast) speed to about song nr. 300. (1.80 gb) then it starts going reaaaalllyyy slow.... like 3-4 minutes per song. and i have 2900 songs waiting to be transferred to my ipod.
anyone can help?

after 200 songs with insanly bad speed, it suddenly started going faster. dont know if it will continue. but an answer for me\others with the same problem would be appreciated:)
