Scanning into a MacBook Pro
How can I scan documents into my MacBook Pro. I am using OS X 10.9.2. I need to scan documents to email to someone and I can't find a way to do that. I normally just scan into my Adobe Photoshop Elements and make a jpeg. But there does not seem to be a way to do that now that the latest OS X is installed. HELP!

In the meantime try scanning via Image Capture, if that doesn't work be sure to clarify your printer model:

I work with video, and am trying to save my minidv cam's life. is there a more direct way to input directly from a vcr/television into my macbook pro? because right now i'm having to input from my vcr/television into my minidv then into my macbook through firewire.

but i'm fairly certain that this is output-only. does anyone know if there is a way to input through it as well, or anything that works similarly?I thought that cables and adapters worked the same going either direction. I believed that the only concern was the male or female end points on them. Not sure anymore though

I have 2 thunderbolt displays and have had them daisy chained for months where I only would plug one into my macbook pro 15" retina and both displays have worked great. The other day I moved one of them into the conference room, connected also a HDMI cord to a projector to do some work with staff on software design.
I brought my thunderbolt back into my office and plugged it back into the other thunderbolt dispay, then plugged the other display back into my macbook and started it up and now I can only get one to work daisy chained. They both work great independantly or if both of them are plugged into my macbook pro, but not daisy chained any longer.
Is there a setting I need to look at to maybe reset so that my macbook pro will use both thunderbolt displays daisy chained?

The first thing that I would recomend is resetting the PRAM on your portable.

My iPod playlists are deleted every time I plug my iPod into my MacBook Pro.
Every time I plug my iPod into my MacBook Pro, my iPod playlists are deleted. I have all the sync features turned off on both the iPod and computer. What is happening? I hate having to remake my "Workout" playlist everytime I plug in!
Correct. All sync features are turned off and if is 'manually manage' somewhere, I have checked the box to do so. So basically everything is set for me to manage manually, yet my iPod playlists are still being deleted.

If i have Time Machine backed up on an external hard drive, do i just plug the drive into another macbook pro and all my stuff is in the new computer? Also, does it matter if the new computer is running Lion when the backed up info came from Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
No and Yes
Don't use TM for this purpose, clone your drive to an external, plug the external into another MBP and reboot from it. Please note that booting a machine that came with Lion may not be possible from a drive with Snow Leopard. -
I have installed Windows 7 into my Macbook Pro 15 inch with Lions as operating system. (current model with 2.2 GHz i7 processor, 500 GB HD ad 5400 rpm). When I started with boot camp, the system promped me to create a disc, which I presume is for the drivers for windows 7. Now windows is intalled. What do I do with the CD that the system created for me? Also, why does the system automatically start in Win7 instead of Lion. I need to pression the option key to have it start in OS X. I thought it was supposed to be the opposite.
Insert it while you are in Windows, if it does not autostart run setup.exe.
Choose your startup disk using Apple>System Preferences>Startup Disk (in OSX) or Control Panel>Boot Camp>Startup Disk (in Windows) -
Apple put a new hard drive into my MacBook Pro and updated it from Lion to Maverick. They did not put iPhoto and iWeb on it but I did have it in Lion. They also didn't put Pages, Keynote or Numbers back on it until I argued with them. Of course, I didn't have my data backed up. My hard drive was destroyed when I tried to install the update of Mavericks myself. I should not have to buy iWeb and iPhoto when I already had them. Suggestions?

have you tried looking in the App Store, to see if you can redownload iWeb and iPhoto there gratis?
If you haven’t done so already, you should purchase an external hard drive to act as a Time Machine backup destination, so that you’ll have an option to rollback to a working environment if a new OS installation is troublesome. -

Every time I plug my iPhone 5s (32 GB) into my macbook pro, iTunes says: The iPhone "iPhone" cannot be synced. An unknown error occurred (1723). And none of my recently bought songs or my ringtones will transfer to my iPhone. I have iOS 8.1.2. I have only had this iPhone for about a month and a half. A week ago when I plugged it in it would say something along the lines of " This iPhone cannot be synced because the Photo library is not set up. Please try again later." What does that even mean? Thanks you!You have told us you have iOS 8.1.2, and a non-current version of OS X Do you also have an old iTunes? Current is 12.0.1. I'm quite certain iTunes 12 is required to sync with iOS 8.
The current iPhoto version is 9.6. You are probably behind there as well, and that likely caused the first "photo ..." error. As you may know, iOS is changing its approach to managing photos in iOS 8, so I would imagine it would be important to be current with this application. -
