Scanning into Photoshop CS6

So I just finally updated my OS and my Photoshop and just encountered something I wasn't expecting. I have an Epson GT15000 scanner(big one with a feeder) I installed all the drivers and everything and the scanner works fine, but I can't seem to open the scanner from Photoshop to scan directly into the program. I can open the scanner independently and scan it to a saved file and then open it in photoshop. But it only has limited file type options so I'm basically forced to save it as one file so that I can then open it in photoshop and resave it as something else which is kinda a rediculous inbetween step and also leaves me with extra files that need to be deleted. Since the scanner itself hasn't changed and still functions the same otherwise I'm assuming it's because I'm using a new version of Photoshop. I'm also assuming that I actually can scan in the program, just not in the way that I'm used to. I used to go to import, and the scanner would appear on the menu for me to select it. It doesn't appear there now though, and I'm not really sure where else to look for it.

Are you running Mountain Lion? If so, there's a known problem with the new ImageKit-based scanning feature in Photoshop CS6 and Mountain Lion. A quick search of this forum should turn up several threads on this issue.

Problem with scanning in Photoshop CS6 after upgrading to Mountain Lion

After upgrading to latest version of Mountain Lion i've got a problem with scanning directly into Photoshop CS6.
on the previous Lion version when I wanted to scan something, i just opened Photoshop -> File -> Import -> images from device
then a new window opened up the ImageCapture app where I could choose the device I wanted to use, and then I selected the scanner (Canon CanoScan 8400F) and I could scan directly into photoshop.
Now with Mountain Lion when I do the exact same thing, it opens a window, but it's impossible to select any device, as the new window is just a plain white window, with 2 buttons on top to rotate something that isn't there. (text is in dutch, cause I'm from the Netherlands)
hope someone can help me out.
I can scan with the use of the ImageCapture app without problems and then save that picture and open it in Photoshop, but it has worked before, so am I doing something wrong? or is this just a little bug

I’m having the same problem with my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner and Adobe Photoshop CS6. It does the initial overview scan then I get the same blank window as BigNoud shows above. I've done a Software Update and have also updated OSX to 10.8.1.
I know for the Epson you can get a Mountain Lion compatible scan software from SilverFast for about $35.00 as an upgrade here.
I haven't gone that route yet as I don't want to give up any more money for my Apple/Adobe experience.
Any help would be appreciated.

There's no 64 bit TWAIN so you need to use the 32-bit version of Photoshop. Personally I'd recommend that you use the scanner software as a standalone application and forget TWAIN, which is rapidly becoming obsolete and more or less abandoned everywhere. All it does is call up the very same scanner software, only from within the PS UI, and tying up Photoshop in the process.

Camera raw 7-2 refuses to install into Photoshop CS6

trying to install camera raw 7-2 beta release into Photoshop CS6 on MacBook Pro, OSX 10.8.1. Installation commences, then I get Error Code: U44M2P15. I have tried new downloads of camera raw, restarting the Mac to no avail. Any ideas??? I need this release to view Sony ARW files generated by the new Sony DMC RX100 camera. Thanks for your assistance Jeff. I wish it was so simple. I ended up on the Adobe customer chat where some very kind techs helped me out. The issue was ultimately resolved by reinstalling CS6.
This was way more complicated than it sounds! I ran the photoshop 6 uninstaller, which encountered an error. Following the online error advice, I then installed the Adobe cleaner and run it a couple of times, with restarts. There were still Photoshop 6 files sitting in the Utilities folder. I dragged these to trash manually. Photoshop 6 would not install, giving an error message about halfway through. After nearly 2 hours of tech chat and multiple interventions, the Mac was started in SAFE mode and permissions repaired, photoshop reinstalled from original CD, then upgraded.
Camera raw 7.2 was then installed successfully, and now my Sony Rx100 ARW photo are brightly displayed in Bridge.
I hope this helps anyone else out there who experiences similar problems. Another installation of camera raw 7.2 on different mac (OS10.8.1) running Photoshop 6 was event-free.

Cannot copy and paste text into Photoshop CS6

I am not able to copy and paste text from non-Adobe programs (like Keynote or Word) into Photoshop CS6. I get an error message reading "Could not complete the Paste Text command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid." I have tried shutting down Photoshop, shutting down other programs, re-starting my computer, adjusting my Preferences and asking Adobe for help by phone and chat. I am on a new iMac and have no third party plug-ins installed. Can anyone help?

-> copy The Text you want to use
-> paste your text (from your clipboard) To App TextEdit
-> then Copy again
-> back to Photoshop paste it on your document layout

First go the Bridge / Camera Raw preferences.
Inhere under 'default image settings' are 4 options to put a checkmark in front.
If there is a checkmark in front of "apply auto tone adjustments' deselect it and try again.
Otherwise select one problem file and with right mouse click menu choose 'purge cache for selection'. If this works then go to menu tools / cache/ purge cache for folder.
If still in trouble could you provide more details about versions and OS and preferable a screenshot to clarify the problem more?

Is there any way to get this palette into photoshop CS6?

I'm curious as to why Photoshop CS6 can't have a simple effective palette choice like this one from Fireworks?
I'm an artist and this palette makes sense to me. The standard issue pallette in Photoshop is a mess compared to this.

If your talking about the Color Cubes from fireworks as shown in your screenshot, then yes.
Save the swatches out of fireworks as an Adobe Swatch Exchange File (ASE) and then you can load them into photoshop
in it's swatches panel like below.

Problem reading dng files into Photoshop CS6

Why can't I read dng files from a canon 5dmk2 from ACR8.1 into Photoshop cs6?

I converted the CR2 files from the Canon5dmk2 into dng using the Adobe DNG converter.
In Photoshop CS3 I can read these dng files into Adobe Camera Raw and then export them into Photoshop. No problem.
I have just installed Photoshop CS6. I can read the dng files into Adobe Camera Raw (v8.1) without a problem. However the file is then corrupted when I try to export it into CS6.
Strangely, I have similar files converted from CR2 to DNG for a Canon 1100D and these read without problem via ACR into both Photoshop CS3 and CS6.
The problem is that Photoshop CS6 will not read dng files from a Canon 5dmk2.

Thanks for responding. Windows Vista - installed Flash Player 11 - no change -
updated all drives on HP PSC 2355 scanner - no change - added twain 24 bit
because read that 48 was not compatible with cs6 - no change.
Basically, when I go file - import - I should see the option WIA -HP PSC 2350
and it is not there which tells me my scanner is not integrated with cs6 as it
was with cs3.
Any ideas?

Saving Twain Settings (HP Scanning) w/Photoshop CS6 (32 bit)

Just updated to Win 8.1 and the G3110 scanner. Running Photoshop CS6 in 32 bit mode so that I can import, through twain, directly into Photoshop. This is how my workflow was with Win 7 and an older scanner.
The Twain software is "HP Scanning." Is there a way I can save settings or use the last used adjustments? Most of my scans are done in grayscale and I want them to be darker than the default. The auto adjustments still aren't enough, so I can't just enable those. The only thing I've been able to lock in is the default resolution. I'm used to more control over my scans and having the twain software default to the last used settings. Is there some way I can save settings that I'm unable to find?

Since this has been buried a few pages back, I'm wondering if there's another twain software that will work if there isn't a way to save settings, etc... using HP Scanning?

Can't drag and drop photos into Photoshop CS6

I'm having this problem since the last time I formatted my computer, and it is really annoying.
Basically, when I try to drag an image into photoshop, the cursors changes into a circle with a slash in it (unavailable).
I can open files by right clicking and choosing "Open with -> Adobe Photoshop CS6", and I can also open with "File > Open..." (ctrl+O)
I've searched for a soltion for this and nothing worked.
This is what I've tried doing so far:
- Resetting the preferences (ctrl+alt+shift)
- Running with administative rights
- Running without administrative rights
- Making sure I have premissions for the files
- Making sure the files are not set as read-only
- Changing the scratch disk option (Preference -> Performance)
None of these worked, and I'm looking for another solution...
Here are my PC specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.50GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz

Sounds like a corrupt registry issue -- the file extensions are not correctly associated with Photoshop.
The default install adds all the registry entries, so something has gone wrong since then with the registry entries for Photoshop 64 bit.
Have you used any "system optimizer" programs, or registry cleaners?

Import MPEG-2 video into PhotoShop CS6

Does anyone know why I can not import MPEG-2 video file into PH CS 6?

Do you have any other Adobe programs installed? Photoshop CS6 can only open MPEG-2 video files if a decoder is installed, such as Premiere Pro or After Effects.

I can't import videos into Photoshop CS6?

I just ripped a whole load of Doctor Who episodes, and I have been wanting to make .gifs of them, but every time I try to import them into Photoshop (file > import > video frames into layers (how I normally make gifs)), I get a message saying, "Could not complete the video frames to layers command because the file could not be opened". I don't know why this is happening, because Photoshop normally opens .avi files and all I want is to make .gifs of these Doctor Who episodes.

You should open your Dr. Who episode in adobe flash or premier pro. Probably you need to covert it. You could use the adobe media encoder. Photoshop cs6 has "intuitive Video creation" and you have to bring in the video as a mp3. I never tried it As Photoshop is an image editing app and not created to open Video files so you could probbably use Premiere to export the individual frames and then open those in Photoshop.
