Scanning multiple pages in to a single continuous PDF

I have recently purchased an HP ENVY 5530 wireless printer for use with my iPad using the HP AIO ('All In One') software app from the i-Store.
I have a number of paper documents that I wish to scan in to electronic (PDF) format, most of which run in to multiple pages. However, each time I scan a page, the software creates a new PDF file, rather than one continuous electronic copy. I am finding this very frustrating as all I want is one single PDF file containing multiple pages.
Have read various message boards, forums, FAQs, but can't find any answers so would really appreciate any help anyone can give.
Thanks!

Hi Manxie,
Thank you for the update.
I wonder if you are choosing to save after each page is scanned? If yes, that would be why each page is being created as a separate file. When you choose the add page icon and then confirm that you want to add a page (see screen shot below) it will return you to the preview/scan screen. I was able to scan 5 pages into one document this morning.

  • How can I scan multiple pages from the ADF to one pdf file?

I wirelessly scan double-sided multiple-page documents, typically 37 pages, using an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) from my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g to my MacBook Pro. The scanner works fine except it tries to save the files as 37 separate files and either it or the MacBook runs out of memory as it turns it into a massive file, 300mb or so. How can I get it to just scan it as one file? I have the quality setting at 300dpi.

    Hello again webbo51,
Thanks for the information I requested.
I am going to add a screen shot of what you should be seeing when scanning with the HP software.
You must have PDF selected to be able to scan a multiple page document into one folder.
Once you select PDF, you will see the option to Save as one file.
Please feel free to write me back if you have any other questions.
    Thanks again for your time.

  • SCANNING MULTIPLE PAGES TO SINGLE DOCUMENT ON 8620 FLAT GLASS

Does the HP Officejet Pro 8620 have the capability to scan multiple pages into a single document using the flat glass and not the auto feeder?
Use this when I want to scan a package or any item that won't fit through the auto feeder.
My Officejet Pro 8600 at work does by using a promptor after each page scannned that asks if there are more pages remaining to scan to same document.
If the answer is no, do I have to return my 8620 and purchase an 8600?
    Jackimo

    Hi Jackimo,
A such can be done by launching the scan from the HP software on your PC.
Open the HP Officejet 8620 software and clcik on Scan a Document or Photo.
Select the PDF option, ensure the scan resolution is  set as 300 or below and the Scan Source is set as Flatbed Glass.
As well ensure the Show Scan Preview option is checked and click on Scan.
Use the Plus button below the scan preview to scan additional pages from the glass, click on Save once you are done.

  • Scanning multiple pages to single file

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I use to be able to scan multiple pages to one file.  For some reason now it separates the pages into single files.  Under advanced settings it looks like the option "create a separate file for each scanned page" is checked, however, it is not highlighted so I can't change it or uncheck it.

    KB-Sales,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Assuming a recent Windows Operating System and that you install the Full Feature Software (printer software), then you may use the Printer Assistant shortcut to access Scan Document or Photo.
From there, you may be able to use / create a Scan Template to combine files to output to a final, single file.
The following Dragon Document may help:
    Scan_Multiple_Documents-Combine
Note the hint about creating your own Shortcut / Template in the instructions.

  • Scan multiple pages into a single PDF document?

How can i scan multiple pages into a single multipage PDF file?
I've seen similar questions posted, but I haven't found any good answers. The only advice i saw was to scan each page as a separate PDF document, then merge them into a single PDF using third-party software.
Obviously, i don't want to have to do that.
I can't believe that there really is no way to do it using the existing HP print/scan utilities provided with the hardware.
My printer/scanner is the "HP Photosmart 5514 e-All-in-One Printer - B111h", and i'm running Vista (64-bit) on an HP Pavillion notebook.

    Hi,
From the HP Scan software (Start > Programs > HP > HP Photosmart 5510 Series > HP Scan) select PDF and ensure the resolution is 300 DPI or lower.
Ensure the Show Scan Preview option is checked and click on Scan.
Once scanning the first page completes, place the next page on the glass and click the plus button below the scan preview...
Once you are done click on Save.

  • HP Envy 4501 won't scan multiple pages into a single document

My HP Envy 4501 Printer won't let me scan multiple pages into a single pdf document.
I already made sure that the checkbox "Create a separate file for each scanned page" is not checked under the file section in advanced settings.
After I scan the first page, I do not get a screen with a + (plus sign) that is supposed to allow you to scan additional pages into the same document.
Is there any way that I can get a fix/update for my HP Envy 4501 Printer software that would show the screen with the + (plus sign) that allows you to scan additional pages into the same document after you scanned the first page?
At this point, if I don't get this problem fixed soon, I'm about ready to return my HP Envy 4501 Printer back to the store I bought it from so I can get my money back and buy a printer from one of HP's competitors before my store warranty runs out.
I am very dissatisfied with HP's printer software, their support services and their web sight that doesn't work half of the time.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • M276 Unable to scan multiple pages into a single file

Hi, just bought the Laserjet Pro 200 M276nw, and when I scan multiple-pages documents, it generates one PDF document for each page scanned, but I want this multiple pages into a single PDF file. Anyone can help? Thanks so much

Yes it's possible.  Use the Image Capture app.  It has an option to scan PDF documents into a single file.

  • Scanning multiple pages - pop-up for "Next Page" appears

I'm running Acrobat Profession version 7 on OS X 10.5.
My scanner is an Epson Perfection 3170 with an automatic document
    feeder.
The settings for scanning seem to have been goofed up -- any
assistance in resetting them would be appreciated.
Previously, I could drop a handful of pages into the feeder, choose
FILE => CREATE PDF => FROM SCANNER in Acrobat, set the scanner to ADF
(automatic document feeder), and it would create a single PDF from the
    whole stack.
Now, the first page scans, the second page feeds through without
scanning, and then I get a pop-up called "Acrobat Scan". It says,
"Next Page" and "Front of Sheet 2" is selected (no other options) --
and I can choose DONE or NEXT.
If I choose NEXT, it scans the next page (and then skips another page).
When I choose DONE, it goes back to Acrobat and the PDF is created.
(Obviously, every other page in the document is missing.)
It never did this before, and it's kind of pointless having an
automated feeder if I have to stop after every page.
    A few points:
    - reinstalling the Epson software did not help
    - I notice that I get a separate pop-up the first time the scanner dialog opens -- this pop-up allows me to choose a scanner (only one is currently installed). Don't remember getting this before the problem started.
    - I have another program that uses the same scanner -- it continues to scan multiple pages without interruption. Ergo, I assume this is an Acrobat issue.
Any suggestions on fixing this issue would be appreciated.
    Thanks! -c

    Thanks, Brian!
I've tried turning the scanner off/on, both after the computer is booted and when it's shut off.
Between the need to select "Next Paqe" all the time, and the fact that the scanner skips every other page, I'm really annoyed!
Does anyone have any other suggestions on where I might find a solution? I considered contacting Adobe, but their per-incident support seems kind of expensive.
    Thnx! -c

  • How can I scan multiple pages to one file with MG 7120

My printer does not have ADF. How can I scan multiple pages to one file on my MG 7120?

    Hi albabynyr,
There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can assist you with scanning multiple pages into a single file.  To scan using the IJ Scan Utility, please follow these steps:
    1. Start IJ Scan Utility by going to your Start menu, then selecting All Programs, then Canon Utilities, then  IJ Scan Utility (folder), then IJ Scan Utility (program).
    2. In the Canon IJ Scan Utility window that opens, click SETTINGS.... in the bottom right of the window. The Settings dialog box appears.
    3. Click the DOCUMENT SCAN option on the left pane of the window.
    4. In the right pane of the window, locate the SELECT SOURCE field and select the DOCUMENT option.
    5. Set the color mode, document size, and scanning resolution as required in the rest of the fields shown in the window. Click DOCUMENT SCAN ORIENTATION SETTINGS... to specify the orientation of the documents to be scanned.
    6. In the SAVE SETTINGS section of the window, you will select the save format and location of the document you are about to scan.
a.) In the FILE NAME field, specify the name you would like to give the file. By default the filename will begin with IMG; you can remove IMG and change it to whatever you would like to name the file.
b.) In the DATA FORMAT field, use the drop-down arrow to select the PDF (Multiple Pages) option.
c.) In the SAVE IN field, please navigate to the area where you would like the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the DOCUMENTS folder.
    7. Once all settings have been selected, click the OK button at the bottom of the SETTINGS (DOCUMENT SCAN) window. The IJ Scan Utility main screen appears.
    8. Click the DOCUMENT button. Scanning starts. After a page has scanned, the screen to continue or end scanning appears. If you have more pages to scan, place the next page on the platen and click Scan.  Do this each time a page has completed scanning.  After the last page has been scanned, click Exit. Scanned images are saved in previously selected folder location specified in the SETTINGS... window. Click the CANCEL button to cancel scanning if needed during scanning.
    Hope this helps!
