Scanning of photos

hi
good day one and all. i have a hp deskjet ink advantage 3540 e-all-in one series printer. i was trying to scan a pic measuring 2"x2" and instead of getting a digital image of the same size i got a 2"x1.57" image instead. i used the scan dialogue applying the customized scan area as 2"x2" and a 300dpi but to no avail.
please help.
thank you.

Hi @techsloth ,
I see that you are unable to get a scan at a 2x2 size. I can help you.
Try changing the Resolution, if that doesn't work, change the custom size to a larger size, to make up for the 2 inch size.
I have provided a document for scanning.
Scan from Windows XP With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers.
You might need to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • Want to scan multiple photos on HP c309 series as individual files; the box to allow is greyed out.

I'm using an HP Photosmart C309A All in one.  I use Windows 7. I have multiple photos to scan and want them to scan as individual files.  I did that previously several months ago with no problem.  The box which should allow me to do so is not available to check.  It is grayed out.
Anything to try would be appreciated.

    Hi @Mamusworld,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you want to scan multiple photos on your HP Photosmart c309 as individual files, but the box to allow it is greyed out. I am happy to help!
This sounds as if there is a driver/software issue with your printer software. I would recommend the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install using the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Hope this helps, and have a great day!

We have an iMac OSX Lion.  I received a CD with photos on it from a friend of mine. My friend scanned the photos to her computer and gave the disc to me. I can hear the disc spinning but the pictures aren't coming up to view. Before having the iMac I had a Dell computer.  I was able to view the photos at that time. Is there something I can do so I can view them on my iMac? Thank you.

The information I see in disk utility is the following: MacIntosh HD superdrive. 1TBST31000528A S Media

What format are they? Tiif? Jpeg? You can compress them with a lot of apps - including Preivew and just about any graphics editor out there. I'm not sure that 45mb would crash iPhoto thogh, are yo sure that's the cause? I know that some folks have mentioned pixel dimensions causing issues, as can color profiles.

How do I scan a photo to a file and then send the file as an attachment  via email.

All of this depends largely on what printer /software you have, which Email client you use and to some extent which OS you are running.
Most HP printers have HP Solution Center which is used to set up scanning, choosing where to save, etc. Once a file/photo is scanned and saved to the folder, open the folder.Select the file and at the top of the window should be the option to 'Email'.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are wondering how to scan multiple photos into separate files with your HP Envy 5660 printer on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this scanning issue for you!
I would recommend to go through this how to scan guide, Scan from Windows 7 With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers, you can try with HP software or without HP software. As there are multiple ways of scanning.
For future reference, here is your printer's user guide as well, HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer User guides.
