Scanning pictures of all sizes

How do you scan and enlarge the picture?  I scaned a small picture and went to post to fb and people couldn't see it.  How do you enlarge it?
Thank you

Is it your work e-mail? If so you may not be able to change that. My work strips most attachments as a virus protection tool.
If it's your home mail then try to access the controls via safari. It's not something you can change in the mail app, it's a change on the server level.

  • Why are scanned pictures vastly different sizes?

i got some 35mm negatives scanned at 2400dpi and they all came out at 4 to 5M.
then the next batch scanned at 2400 were from 800KB to 4Meg.
    does this make sense?
    thanks all

    Dear Anon,
I apologize but I totally lost track of this thread and I am surprised that it took 3 days for a new response to help you out.  I am not well versed in Elements anyway so I would have given you suggestions for the standard Photoshop package that comes with one of the CS bundles.  Given that you now know how to find the resolution did you discover that the 800KB files were NOT 2400dpi or were they in fact still 2400dpi?  If so I would be at a loss as to why else the images would not be sizeable in MB.  Generally at 2400 dpi the full-range uncompressed TIFF file is much larger than a few megabytes.

  • HP 1410 all-in-one Scanned Pictures not Saved

Recently upgraded my pc to windows 8.1 but the HP 1410 all-in-one printer scanner will  not save scanned pictures.  I attempt to "scan to file" but when I click finish I receive the option to scan more pictures or end (done).  W"done" when I click done the "solution center" app returns to its home screen.
All other scanning properties are functioning correctly.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @Dadoo1211
Please first try running the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results. Please let me know the outcome!

  • Having arranged some scanned pictures in an album in I-Photo how can I keep them in the order I have chosen when I move the album. They all have the scan date and not the taken date and move to new positions if I move them from one album to another.

Having arranged some scanned pictures in an album in I-Photo how can I keep them in the order I have chosen when I move the album. They all have the scan date and not the taken date and move to new positions if I move them from one album to another.
Is there any way to re-number them in the order I have chosen so that they can then be sorted by number? The scans are all from pre-digital images that I wish to move to a photobook and I don't want to have to organise them twice!
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I was a bit short, Chris, sorry. It is limited, what can be posted, when typing on an iPad.
Now I am back on my Mac. I meant the following:  Batch Change the date for a large range of photos, that should have a date stepped in increments.
Select all Photos at once and use the command "Photos > Batch Change".
Then set the date for the first photo and select an increment, e.g. one minute.
Now all photos will get a new date assigned, incremented by one minute, in the sequence you have selected. So you will be able to sort them by date.  This way it will be unnecessary to change the titles or filenames.

  • Scanning and Copying result in all black and lines. (with link to the scanned picture)

Whatever I try to scan and copy, even blank, the result is the same all black and full of lines.
Here is the link to the scanned picture. Copying also makes the same picture. https://www.dropbox.com/s/yaprfywbpf7cq70/scan0002.jpg?dl=0
The printer hasn't been used in a while, I just used it recently and the ink even dried out. Bought ink and printer's working fine.

    Hi @RexRegnum,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see when you Copy or Scan on your HP Photosmart D110a you get black lines all over the page.
I would like you to start troubleshooting here: Vertical Bands, Streaks, or Lines in a Copy, or Scan
Please let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply.

  • IPhoto Book w/ scanned pictures?

Has anyone scanned pictures to iPhoto and then made a book? I was thinking of doing it for a gift but I'm not sure of the picture quality to create a book. I have been reading up on all of the discussions to find out more. What I have been reading is quite interesting. I'm new to the whole process.
    Thank you to all readers!!!
    Lisa

    Lisa:
You need to scan at a resolution that will give you 300dpi at the largest size in the book you plan to use. If you intend on using a one photo per page layout then the photo, for best printing, should be about 3450 x 2250 pixels. Printed at 11 x 8.5 that would give about 300 dpi, the max for the printers used.
It will depend on the size you're scanning. A 4 x 6 for a one photo per page (actually you'll probably have to crop it to something like 4 x 5.5 so it will fit in the frames used in the layouts without losing any of the image or the image not filling up the frame completely.
So for a 4 x 5.5 intended for a full page should scan it at about 600 dpi. Larger photos to be scanned can be at a lower dpi.

  • Scanning Pictures for HD Project I Need Advice

I am about to *Scan Pictures for HD Project* I Need Advice. The scanner is a HP Scanjet G4050 my questions are:
1: At what resolution do I scan these pictures _+(300 or highest dpi available)+_
2: What color choice is necessary *(RGB vs CMYK)*
3: Can you please suggest points for creating a backdrop for the pictures (various sizes) in the Timeline
    Thanks in advance

Scan the picture like you normally would. If the vertical resolution is 1080, you are fine. Don't worry about the 1280 width as black will be in that area not taken up with the photo. That part won't matter if it isn't 1280 if it is a vertical picture. If you don't have at least 1080 high, you might want to re-scan at a higher resolution. If you have it say, 2000 pixels high really no big deal except you don't need it that high and all that extra size slows down your system. If you want it at a lower resolution after you scan go into Photoshop->Image->Image size. Be sure and check "Constrain Proportions" before you change the dimensions in the top box for the height (where you are best using the units as pixels) That way the picture will stay in proportion. Don't use this second method to 'add' more pixels as the quality suffers when you go up this way. Rescan if you want MORE pixels.
All the above is talking about vertical pictures. If you have a really wide photo that is not very tall, use the same principle but keep the width constant. For example let's say you have a 2x6 inch photo. Make sure the width is at least 1280 pixels. Don't worry that the height will be less than 1080 because black will take up that space.
If you are going to do any zoom in and/or panning across a picture, you'll need to make sure it has more than the minimum pixels. For me a little goes a long way, so I zoom in slowly maybe 10-15%.

  • SCANNING PICTURES TO FINAL CUT PRO

I don't know if this is the best place to post this but I am scanning pictures to put into final cut pro to do a montage, what is the best dpi to use for scanning pictures, when I put it in final cut I need to enlarge them a little but then it seems to pixalize the picture.

    to Ymir
'Just like this site to tell you how to build a clock when you simply ask what time it is.'
well its 15 degrees centigrade here, what time is it with you?
so how does this help Bill when he asks for some help with scanning?
well it would help to provide the correct measuring system for a start. In this case it would be pixels for the frame size he is using and definatly not dpi
'I make photo montages all the time and I scan at 72 dpi.'
Your workflow may well end up with an adequate result for your situation, but how can that possibly help anyone else? Stating you scan at 72dpi is meaningless when you know nothing about the posters requirements or set up.
what is being scanned, a transparency a print?
    what size is the original?
what is the optical resolution of the original?
    what equipment is being used?
what is the final frame size required, is it SD or HD-DV NTSC or PAL?
To Bill I would suggest; simply scan the originals to produce a file at the video frame size your working on; for example, if it is for PAL DV video it would be 720x576 or 720x480 for NTSC DV. You may want to scan for a larger frame size to allow for enlarging or positioning the image.
refer to the Final Cut Pro Manual vol III page 339 which explains all the above.

  • Organize scanned pictures without a certain date

I already read a similar thread, which I couldn't post in, as it was archived.
Since iPhoto is designed for digital pictures, we all assume to create and manage our libraries by using digitally taken pictures. I am somehow enough "young" to have the majority of my personal photos in a native digital format, however I lived a life even before…say 2001, when I've got my first digital camera. As most of us, I still have many printed pictures that are waiting to be scanned and digitally stored. Though, the digital version of that pictures will be stored with the file creation date, which is obviously not only a later one, but something unnecessary, as I guess noone will be able to trace the exact shot instant.
Given that the photo file must have an exact date, I guess if iPhoto might be able to ignore those infos and lets the user set a vague date like "summer 1988" or maybe a range of days like "July 19th to August 3rd". In other words, in my opinion, iPhoto should be able to contain less infos in the library.
A similar problem exists with the shot location: my iPhone records all pictures location, while my previous digital camera wasn't able to do it. Again: I had to manually set them for all pictures and since I wasn't able to trace the exact location (say a certain street) I created a location with a big area around (it can be set in iPhoto) and called eg "Paris".
The main concept is that we'd need a way (if it doesn't already exist) to have an idea of the metadata that wasn't recorded within the file.

Larry, I know that iPhoto must have a specific date: I was questioning about the uselessness of a specific date when it is unretrievable. If someone agrees with me, the more users report this problem, the less time it will take to Apple to consider in its plans.
By the way I knew already how to change the date and time of a picture (I find it a great feauture!). As for the places circle thing, I used it as an example of what in my opinion should be done with time, as it was already conceived for space. In other words you don't have to set a specific point on the planet for each picture, but rather you may set a range of specific places. Similarly, I believe that this range might be adopted for those pictures that we don't remember exactly when they were taken, but we rather remember the range of time during which they were taken.
I hope I've been more clear than in my prevoius post.

  • Envy 4500 returns test page instead of scanned picture. No problem with text documents

Scanning pictures returns printer test page instead of jpeg as expected.

Hello @TEC23 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend checking to ensure there is no past alignments sheets on the scan glass from the setup, and perform a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Scanned form not same size as original

I am trying to scan a form into pdf and make it a fill-in form, then print only the form field info onto an original of the form. When I do so, the fields are out of alignment because the scanned form doesn't seem to be the same size.
Is there anyway to make the scanned form the same size as the original when I scan it.
Many Thanks to all that reply......

Depends on what software you are using to scan and produce the form fields. It's not Reader.

I am trying to use the same folder of picture across all my desktops.  It seems that every desktop I have to go in to preferences and click the same thing over and over.  Is there a way to do it once and apply it across all desktops?

The only way I know is to delete all the desktops and then add them back.  They will all default to the picture in Desktop 1.

  • How can I delete photos and or albums from my iphone without having to delete them in all locations?  I have some pictures in an album that i want to remove them from but when I try it asks do I want to delete picture  from all loc

I have pictures in albums on my iphone.  I want to delete them from one album but when I try it asks to delete the picture from all locations.  I only want to delete it from 1 album.  Is this possible to do?

You can delete photos from individual albums but not from the camera roll.  If you try to delete a photo from camera roll it will be deleted from all other albums ("locations") that contain the photo.  This is because the actual photo is in the camera roll (the albums only contain links to the photo in camera roll, not the actual photo).
