Scanning problem, won't scan because it can't find available destinations for scans to be sent

I have a officejet 4500 G510 all in one printer, and for some reason since I got a new lap top, the scanner doesn't work. I installed the software many times over, and it has the same error message over and over, "the program could not find any available destinations to which scans can be sent." It's suggestions are 1) reboot computer 2)reisntall the software.  I have done these both along with a plethra of other attempts following links, and it won't work. I cannot understand this, and the scanner is the most important part for me. I would love the answer if it is out there!! Please help!

Hello dowkren,
Please take a look at this link, which provides troubleshooting steps for various installation issues.  You didn't get specific about any error messages, so take a look and let me know if anything here helps resolve your issue.
Good luck!

  • Plug iPod in; shows in iTunes; iTunes won't sync because it can't "find" it

I connect my iPod Classic to my MacBook, iTunes opens and shows the iPod in the sidebar. I open Music, check and uncheck playlists, then click "Sync". I get an error message that iTunes doesn't recognize iPod, disconnect and reconnect. When I do, I just repeat the same cycle. What up?

    Try these steps listed below.
    1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
    2. Start up iTunes
    3. Next, connect your iPod.
    4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
    5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
    6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
    7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
    8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod).  See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

  • Can't find valid destination for OS!!

Oh dear oh dear. Our Power Mac has been dying a slow death but we didn't take the early signs to be things we should act upon and didn't know about software like Disk Warrior.
After having trouble booting up and having the computer crash, as well as not respond to fsck -fy and Disk Utility repairs, I tried re-installing the OS. I think I may have repartitioned the drive first as well.
On installing I think I accidentally used the wrong disk and it froze before the install was complete. It didn't recover from this so I restarted the machine and found that the hard drive had vanished and disk utility couldn't find it. I put the computer in a cupboard and said I'd go back to it.
Having purchased Disk Warrior this week I tried to revive the Power Mac using that. I ran DW twice. The first time was so quick i wondered it I'd completed the process. The second time took ages.
When not booting from a disk I get a Folder with a smiley face alternating with a folder and a question mark on a grey screen. I think its looking for a disk, hard drive or otherwise, I also get a image of a globe in a grey square, sometimes flashing.
Long before the problems that now make using it impossible, the monitor also developed a solid line of pixels from one side of the other - not dead pixels because they change colour depending on what's on the screen, but a definite line. I don't know if this is indicative of anything.
Anyway, I also ran a hardware test using DW and it said all was normal.
I then ran the hardware test disk that came with the computer and equally, all elements passed. Which was quite a surprise as it did some funny things during testing:
Towards the end of the memory test the screen became a complex mass of multicoloured lines forming grids and squares... the original screen flashed up showing memory passed the test and then I got green vertical lines on black, then orange vertical lines on black, followed by opaque, pale blue-purple, then salmon, then bright blue, then purple.
The original screen flashed up showing the mac had passed the modem test. Then the screen alternated between black and white which changed by the colour moving up the screen from the bottom. Then it was thick black lines on white followed by thick white lines on black. Then the Vid Ram test was complete.
After the hardware test passed I tried installing OS 9 as DW had said the hard drive had been rewritten and now appeared on the desktop.
The OS 9 disk notified me that a valid destination drive could not be found.
I tried DW again and DW couldn't find anything other than itself on the computer either.
Any ideas on where I can go from here?

Have you been hearing a clicking sound. If so, it's the hard drive failing.
First try something simple. Zap PRAM. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial

    Hi,
If you are using Solaris8 then international versions of Solaris8 has the CD labeled Solaris8 Languages. This CD contains required packages for Asian locale.
I would recommend you to visit http://docs.sun.com for more information.
In earlier versions, Asian CD contains all packages for Asian locale.
    Thanks,

I inadvertantly removed Bonjour from my pc. Now I'm attempting to upgrade Itunes to 10.7 for my 4S iphone.  Itunes will not upgrade because it can't find my original Bonjour. How can I reinstall my original Bonjour?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server"

I just bought my iPhone. The first time I attempted to log onto my home wireless network (US Robotics Wireless Router) the iPhone performed perfectly. However, the next time I attempted to logon and surf it gave me the "Safari can't open the page because it can't find the server" error message. I tried a variety of things which didn't work. I called the Apple Tech Support. Turning off the router and rebooting it was the only thing that worked. I thought my problem was resolved because after cycling the router the iPhone worked great once again. But . . . later the same day I attempted to connect to the router and the same thing happened and I got the error message. I attempted to power cycle the router just like before but this time it did not work! Help! Bad router? Wrong settings on router or iPhone?

Do you have other wireless devices connected to this same router? Do they work?
I really can't help you much but to say that when my router exhibited this issue it was accross the board (all notebooks would connect immediately following a router restart, but would loss connectivity until I rebooted the router again). In my case the only solution that was permanent was to replace the router.
You may also try restarting the phone and the router, setup security - WEP - (or disable security) on the router and phone, and/or try a different wi-fi channel (may actually help).

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

iPhoto can't find photo even though the thumbnail is present. Any help, there are dozens of photos in my library that won't open as iPhoto can't find them. This is probably a very common question!

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We need to know the details of your problem and situation, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you see when you launch iPhoto to open your library?
what fixes have you tried before coming here?
    where is you library located?
how long has this been occuring?
did you apple any updates or upgrades just prior?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
What do you see when you click on a thumbnail?

  • Safari is not able to open this page because it can not find the server.

I too need help with this problem with my Ipod touch. Currently, I am in the Ukraine, go to a wifi cafe, access the wifi and get a clear powerful signal. Then I try to load the Google page, any page from my bookmark or write the web address in and I receive the same message; "Safari can not open this page because it can not find the server." Something is wrong with my settings and I tried to reset the options but it does not work. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks!!

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The 169.254.xxx.xxx address indicates that there is a problem with DHCP server in your BT Digital Hub (Home hub?) because the iPod is taking a default IP rather than been given a suitable one. At the moment the iPod is not even in the same subnet as the router so it's no wonder that Safari can't find the Internet.
Ensure that the DHCP server is on and that you have an IP-address pool sufficiently large to serve all the devices you have. I'd expect it to be 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.253. If you have FON enabled you certainly need that wider range as other people may be using your router too.

I am sachin ,purchase iPad mini but I have problem with apple Id .because I don't have credit card for payment .i have debit card so pl help me

As far as I know debit cards aren't accepted as a valid payment method. There are instructions on this page for how to create an account without giving a credit card number : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Depending upon what country that you in you might be able to buy iTunes gift cards from Apple or other stores (supermarkets, electronics stores etc) and use those to buy items - but they aren't available in all countries, and they are country-specific (they can only be used in their country of issue

  • I've made a successful dvdproject.  But now I can't reopen the project because it can't find a few photo files.  Aren't they already in the project?  The dvd plays fine.

I can't reopen the project, because it can't find a few photos.
I thought those were already in the project, as cutaways.  (No slideshow)
Also, in "Share" I exported to Desktop.  That gave me problems.  I don't see "package contents" anywhere.
I got the .m4v file into iTunes, and got that into iDVD.  But now I can't reopen, because of the photos.
I need a step-by-step "Share" routine to go by.
    Thank you

    Mr. Shippey,
I thought the video and cutaways, inserts, etc. were incorporated during "Share".
And not even during the iDVD processing?
I know you're supposed to find a "view package contents" when you right-click on.... something.
Then you do that, and the .m4v file is in there.
I know somewhere there's a "Share" tutorial.  I don't have a good grasp of the whole "file structure".
So I might wind up making copies of these iDVDs.
Will they be the same good quality?
    Thank you.

Have been using successfully Acrobat 8 Standard, version 8.3.1 for years.  Suddenly can not digitally sign anything because software can not find "existing digital ID file?

Are you still using Acrobat 8? If not read further.
All Acrobat versions prior to 11.0.07 had a security flaw that they allows signing with certificates that had "Extended Key Usage" (EKU) restricted to certain certificate uses and those did not include document signing. Most frequently those were certificates with "Client Auth" or "Server Auth" in EKU. Acrobat/Reader 11.0.07 fixed this problem, which also means that while previous versions accepted such certificates for signing 11.0.07 and later do not.

My apps from iCloud won't download and I can't find them on my purchases

If you don't see them on your purchased list, make sure that you are signed in with the Apple ID you used to purchase them in Settings>iTuens & App Store.  Then redownload them by opening the App store app on your phone, tap Updates at the bottom, tap Purchased at the top, then tap Not on this iPhone at the top.
