Scanning to my MacBook Pro

Hi,
I have a HP Photosmart 5520 series, and I am trying to scan an A4 document onto my MacBook Pro, that runs with a
OS 10.7.5.
However when I press "scan", the image saved on the Mac doesn't show the whole A4 page, but a smaller portion of it.
What should I do to be able to scan the whole A4 image?
Fabz

Scanning TO a Mac usually does not work.
Try scanning FROM your Mac. Use Image Capture app in your Applications folder.
Click once on the scanner on the left side, then click on Show Details along the bottom. Along the right side you will see LOTS of options for scanning and saving.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.
I am employed by HP

How do I run a security scan on my macbook pro?

If you have only Mac OSX running  you don't need to run any security scan.
If any major security risk exists Apple offers Security Updates.
Just don't  install any applications not needed,
If you run Windows that is a different story.

how can i get in use my Hp scaner with my macbook pro?

You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode with the MacBook as the main screen. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen.
The TV will now have the Dock and Menu Bar and windows will open on it. But you can move the cursor to the MacBook screen and move windows from the TV over to the MacBook screen.
You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box. That will give you the same screen at the same resolution on both the MacBook and the external monitor.

  • Scanning into a MacBook Pro

How can I scan documents into my MacBook Pro. I am using OS X 10.9.2. I need to scan documents to email to someone and I can't find a way to do that. I normally just scan into my Adobe Photoshop Elements and make a jpeg. But there does not seem to be a way to do that now that the latest OS X is installed. HELP!

    HI,
    What is your pritner model?
In the meantime try scanning via Image Capture, if that doesn't work be sure to clarify your printer model:

  • Officejet 7310 & F4580, scan fine, use MacBook Pro.Save as solid gray with banding.

I used HP Deskjet F4580 and it scanned fine, the image looked fine. When I saved the image (pdf, jpeg, png) they all come out as a gray color with banding. I tried another printer/scanner, HP Officejet 7310 and the exact same problem.  I just purchased a new MacBook Pro, I can't remember if I had this problem recently on my last MacBook. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Julie

    Hi,
Be sure to use Image Capture or Preview, the HP Scan appliction is not compatible with Maericks and may cause issues while saving the scan:

  • How can get my HP C550 to scan to my macbook pro?

I am no longer able to scan from macbook pro to HP C550 (I've done it successfully in the past but can't any more)
I can get an "overview" scan of my document; however, the "scan" button is grayed out & I can't click on it.
I've tried restarting but no luck.
I got an "Image Capture Core error 9930" during one attempt.
    THANKS!

    Hello Bruinfan28,
Thanks for the post. With this one, check this:
To repair disk permissions: Open Finder. Select Apps. Search for Disk Utility. Open Disk Utility. Select the drive the OS is installed on. Click Repair Disk Permissions. Try scanning now.
If you are still having scanning issues, then: See if uninstalling and re-installing the printer's software and driver will correct the problem. Good Luck!

    Hello JFM2015 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some scanning issues when attempting to scan to your Mac.
I suggest we start off from scratch.
Remove the usb cable from both Mac and printer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
The first link that I have for you gives instructions on How to reset the printing system.
The next step that we are going to take is to Repair disk permissions.
Once the first two steps are done, we will then go and download and install the HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers.
The installation will give you connection options so please do not connect any cables until prompted to do so.
Write me back and let me know you made out.
    Cheers,

  • I cannot find wifi scan on my macbook pro 13" retina

I want to use the wifi scan functionality on my Macbook and I have read that it is part of the wireless diagnostic tool. The instructions I read on the web told me to open the wireless diagnostic tool and to then press CMD-N to bring up the wifi scan menu. However, nothing happens when I press CMD-N (or T). My question thus: how to I open the wifi scan?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Cheers.

    Hey GerWol,
I understand that you wish to use the Wi-Fi Scan feature of Wireless Diagnostics. This feature is located under Window > Utilities. Please see the following article for more information:
    About Wireless Diagnostics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5606
Utilities includes additional functionality that can be helpful when resolving intermittent issues, or when working with a service provider. It consists of several tools: Info, Frame Capture, Logging, Wi-Fi Scanning, and Performance. In Wireless Diagnostics, choose Window > Utilities, or press Command-2. The Utilities window appears.
Wi-Fi Scanning--Wi-Fi Scanning will examine the Wi-Fi environment around you, and let you know what Wi-Fi routers exist. It includes information on the Network name, Password Security type, Protocol, Signal Strength, and Noise, as well as Channel, Band, and Country the router is designed for.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • How do i run a virus scan on my macbook pro?

I have been told by student finance to run a virus scan as someone has hacked into my account and changed the bank details how do I do this?

Hacking of financial accounts happens, and it does not require access to your computer, either physically or via malware. Although there is Mac malware, there's none that you are likely to be infected with at the moment. See my Mac Malware Guide.  Most likely that answer was simply a catch-all answer from someone used to dealing with Windows machines.
However, if you really want to run a scan, use ClamXav. If it finds any malware, post the details here before panicking... most likely, it's just Windows malware attached to an e-mail message or something. (If it's actually Mac malware, the name of the malware will include the text "OSX".) Also, note that you should not let any anti-virus software delete e-mail messages, if they are infected, as that will corrupt the mailbox containing the message.

  • Trouble scanning to a MacBook Pro and actually saving image in computer.

I am quite frustrated, having the latest driver from HP and the latest (Maverick) OSX from Apple, but not being able to simply scan and save images into my computer. Does anyone have ANY information on how I can do this? I can scan and see the image on my desktop. But, I don't have a tab from HP to save it and I don't have a menu item from Apple to import it. I see back in October, there were lots of questions about this. Has it been resolved? Thanks for any help!

    Hi Barefoot_Boho,
I would like to help you be able to scan and locate your scans. What printer do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    While I wait to hear back form you, please complete the steps below. This may resolve the issue with no further action required;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
    Click OKto confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-clickDisk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Open System Prefrences again, Print & Fax/Scan, and click the little plus symbol. When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
Click the Apple icon, and check for Apple Software Updates. After the updates complete, or if there are no updates, please restart the computer and the printer.
After both devices are on again, please try scanning.
