Scanning to photoshop elements from scanner

I seem to have misplaced my previous posting on same subject.
Although I can scan from PE 4.0 using my HP 8250 Scanner, I am unable to add
PE 4.0 to the Destination list of the scanner so that I can initiate a scan
to PE from the scanner buttons. I have spent several hours trying to scope
this out but information seems illusive. Can anybody help me add Photoshop
Elements 4.0 to the Destination list of the HP 8250 Scanner?
Thanks in advance.
Barry

Thanks for the links. I will look at that.

I have continued to try to scope this out myself since I posted the
question. There is a learning curve involved here and I did find out a few
things that I thought I would mention which might clarify this problem. It
did for me, anyway.

When one first installs the scanner and its software and then pushes the
various scanner buttons, a small window comes up and asks which of the
following programs do you want this button to activate. After selecting a
program you then can click "do not show this again" button, which apparently
I had done in the past. So I had forgotten and was unaware of that
window..........but now know that Photoshop Elements does come up in that
window and I could have chosen it to open when that button is pushed. When
it does open Elements it doesn't do a scan automatically but the scanner
does respond to the scanner options in Elements. Elements was not on my
computer when I installed the scanner and so I chose to use the HP scanner
software and also checked off "don't show this window again" and therefore
when I press on the button the HP scanner software opens.

Since I didn't remember that, my question had to do with the next step.
After you use the HP software to automatically scan, when you accept the
scan, another window opens to ask where you want the scan to go, and
although the Adobe Photodeluxe program is listed along with Word, and
several other programs, Photoshop elements is not listed there. So in
effect, I can use the HP Software to do the scan and adjust resolution,
etc, but then I can't send the accepted scan to Elements. That's what I was
asking about.

I did do an entire uninstall of the HP software and then manually removed
any residue (HPSJ programs) and then did a full reinstall. That is how I
found out about the button choice window which I did not remember from
before. But when I did a scan using the HP software and then pushed the
accepted button, the Destination list that came up again did not include
Elements. Of course, there are workarounds such as saving the scan to a
file and then opening it in Elements......or just going to elements and
initiating the scan from there and I probably will end up doing one or the
other.............just a matter of principle that Elements should be treated
as equally as Photodeluxe and all the other programs already on the
destination list.

Thanks for your interest.

<[email protected]> wrote in message
news:[email protected]...
> Barry,
>
> There were several discussions some time ago about the sequence in which
> Elements and scanner software were installed. • Scanning with Photoshop Elements 12

I recently updgaded from Elements 9 to Elements 12, but the Import pick is greyed out in the File menue in 12. I can still scan in 9 and my everything has been upgraded for OSX 10.9 (Mavericks). Where exactly should the Twain plug in reside to make it work?

I did this and restarted the computer but still nothing. I tried 9 afterword and it still works, but no doubt added these deleted paths back. I'm stumped. Sorry for being a nuisance. I don't suppose it should be this hard. Jumping around and fixing this and then that makes it difficult to know if something is being missed or still needs to be done and then there is the possible issue of accomplishing all this in a certain order.

You will want to go to your username>library>preferences and delete
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 Paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
Directions for finding that library are here:
    http://www.cultofmac.com/251544/mavericks-makes-it-way-easier-to-acces s-your-library-folder-os-x-tips/
Also go to the Saved Application State folder in the library and delete anything related to PSE.

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.

  • How to completely delete Photoshop Elements from my computer??

    Hi
I am trying to completely remove Photoshop Elements from my computer. So far, I have failed in my attempts to do this. The reason I'm doing this is b/c for some reason that I can't fathom, the folders in My Pictures -- the folders named by shot date -- contain random duplicates. When this happens, the file names folow the convention of DSC_0222 and DSC_0222-1. Exactly the same file size and metadata. In some folders, every picture is duplicated. In other folders, only selected pitcures within the folder are duplicated. I can't figure out how they got there -- e.g. it doesn't seem to bear any connection to the photos I've edited, which was one theory I had for a while. Is Elements responsible? Or is this some sort of bug in the download process from the camera (I have a Nikon D40). Anyway, I've given up on trying to sovle this problem and decided I would go back to the beginning and reload everything from my camera. So, my real question here is about how to completely uninstall Elements.
Here's what I did: I uninstalled Photoshop Elements through the Add/remove programs utility. I got no errors during the uninstall process. Then I completely deleted the My Pictures directory (don't worry -- I have it backed up in multiple places!!). So, at this point there are *no* pictures on my computer at all. I reinstall Elements, open it up and -- you guessed it!!! -- the catalog is still there with all the thumbnails of the pictures that i deleted from my hard disk. Of course, each thumbnail is flagged as "Missing File".
So, how do I uninstall/reinstall Elements and get it to forget all memory of the previous catalog? Why is it "remembering" it in this way when the pictures aren't even on the computer anymore? Isn't this a bug???
I've been working on this issue for much longer than I care to remember-- if anyone can tell me how to get myself truly back to ground-zero so I can start over I would be deeply grateful. After upgrading to Elements 9 (from 7) to try to solve this problem I am close to just abandoning Elements entirely.....
WHile we're at it, if anyone has any idea where the duplicates pictures are coming from and how I prevent that from happening, I'm' all ears!!!!
    Thanks!

    Hi
Thanks so much for the response. So, Help/System Info says that the catalog is here:
    Catalog Location: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\
but no such file appaers to exist. In fact, I can only get as far as All Users. Then there is no directory under that called "Application Data".
i'm still seeing the thumbnails when I got into Elements tho'.... :-(

  • How do I change platform for downloading and installing Photoshop Elements from Windows to Mac?

How do I change platform for downloading and installing Photoshop Elements from Windows to Mac?

As long as your license supports both platforms you should only have to download the Mac version and install/activate using your serial number. If you need help finding a link to download the file, please indicate the PSE version you need.

  • Invoking PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS from PHOTOSHOP ALBUM

How do I link to a previously installed version of Photoshop elements from within Photoshop album without getting to the "Buy Now" screen ?

Indeed, that is a wonderful question and we have yet to see an answer. When one clicks on "edit with Photoshop Elements," while using the Album Starter Edition, one gets an offer to sell Photoshop Album full edition--which I don't want!
I just want to be able to edit with photoshop elements.
Perhaps the answer is that, in order to make this switch, one has to purchase the full Photoshop Album? If so, just tell us and we'll quit bothering you.

  • I am trying to reinstall an old version of photoshop elements from a backup drive.

My computer died and I am trying to install an older version of photoshop elements from a backup drive on a new computer. I get the following error message " Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information. Help?

Just after double clicking or single clicking on the pse 2 shortcut hold down the Alt+Ctrl keys and keep holding the keys until you get a
Scratch Disk Preferences dialog and point the scratch disk to your portable hard drive and maybe that will work.

  • Photoshop Elements from PC To Mackbook

Can I migrate my Photoshop Elements from PC to MacBook without additional cost?

Well, that's hard to say. Technically adobe has said that download serial numbers are single platform, but I would go here and download the mac trial and see your serial works with it:
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
If it's okay, then make a full backup in windows using the organizer's backup command to a removable drive and then plug the drive into the mac and restore your catalog there.

  • Transfer photoshop elements from one computer to another

I want to transfer my photoshop elements from my macbook to my imac. What is the quickest and easiest way of going about this. I also don't want to loose any of my files.

Deactivating the program from one computer and then activating it on another is easy -- though how you do it depends on which version of the program you're using.
But you seem to have something else going on. What do you mean by "I don't want to loose any of my files"?
Are you also trying to move all of your image files from one computer to another? That's also easy using the Mac Migration Assistant.

  • Anyone bought Photoshop Elements from the Apps Store just recently?

Anyone bought Photoshop Elements from the Apps Store, either recently (April 2014) or in the last 12 months, say? The version on the Apps Store is just the editor and so doesn't incorporate an organiser.
I'm just wondering if anyone happens to know whether the Store edition of this app includes support for Canon RAW files of the CR2 type. I've looked all over the Adobe website for the answer but without success.

  • How to reinstall Photoshop Elements from old Pc into Mac?

How do I reintall Photoshop Elements Windows version into my new Mac. PC was stolen.

I looked at it, Barbara, but you can't download 9 without the discs. I
originally downloaded it online and Adobe now tells me it only has 10 to
    download.

Did you not look at the link in the thread in my last post, Lorna?
When you buy software it's your responsibility to keep the media against
future reinstallations, whether you purchase via download or on disc. If
you registered your software, for PSE 9 you may still find a download
link in your adobe store account, if you purchased PSE that way, also.

There's been a few of these today. I think there must be a problem with the redemption server and you probably just need to wait a while and try again.

  • Deactivate photoshop elements from old computer.

I am wanting to deactivate adobe photoshop elements from my old computer, how do I do this?

If you can access your old laptop & the application over it, you can deactivate your app by lauching it and then selecting "Deactivate" from Help menu. Please make sure you're connected to net for a successful deactivation from the server, which is related to the activation count.
Wait for a successful deactivation msg to come for a few seconds & you're done then

  • Trouble scanning into Photoshop Elements 11 from Canoscan 8800F

Each time I scan several photos into Photoshop Elements 11 a few of the photos go to my selected file and one or more say they were not imported because they already exist in the APPData/Local/Temp/PSAlbumImport file. I then have to try to figure out how to get them transferred to my selected file. Why is this happening? It really slows down the scanning process and I'm sure this isn't how things are supposed to work.

I have not come across that problem. The only workaround I can suggest is to scan photos directly to a folder on you hard drive and then use the Organizer menu to import the images:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
