Scanning Using HP printer scaner, copier does not function in SL

Warning Hp has not provided support for scanning with many/most of it's printer, scanner, copier devices in Snow Leopard. In my case I have a HP PSC 1610, printer, scanner, copier and Hp Scan Pro gives error message "Sorry, scanner could not be initialzed, scanner not found" From their web site it appears that Hp is not planning to provide this scanning capability because the function was to be provided in iCapture within SL.
However iCapture will only scan one page at a time. E.g. I tried to scan a multiple page document into into a PDF format, but there was no way to scan a second page. Quite useless really unless you only need to scan 1 page, or are happy to save a multiply page document in separate documents.
Caught Between the giants! Does anyone know of a work around?

Just wanted to correct the opening statement, HP has not yet provided stand alone Scan software for its All-in-One devices. For almost all of the Inkjet base All-in-One devices Scan drivers are provided on the Snow Leopard DVD for use with Preview/Image Capture/Printer browser/Print & Fax System preference, and some third party apps. There is a limitation in that at the moment, the only supported workflow for creating multipage PDF's is from a document feeder the devices, and unfortunately the PSC 1610 doesn't have a document feeder.
That being said, the short answer at the moment is that there is no real work-around. The only option I can provide is you can combine multiple documents into a single document using Preview. There are additional options if you want to play around with Automator and/or AppleScript, but I understand that the majority of users have no idea what these two things are. The final option is third party software, but of course that costs additional money.
So for the PSC 1610 at least, I don't have any great answers. I am definitely aware of the issue and when we figure out a solution I will post it in these forums. I know that doesn't solve your problem now, but its the best I can do.
