Scanning wirelessly with a Canon MP520???

Is there a way to scan wirelessly using a Canon MP520?
Printing: it's great. Scanning: nothing!
Surely there is a way in this day and age?!
Many thanks...

How are you connecting wirelessly? Does your printer have it built in or are you using a Airport Express as a wireless print server?
As far as wireless print servers go, about a year ago I was looking into getting a wireless print server and only a couple said that they would allow all use of a multi function printer. I did not end up getting one because none were of any major brand and I do not remember what they were, but I would have to guess that by now there are more that will allow multi-functions. They will boast it in the list of features.

  • Scanning question with the Canon LiDE 110

Hello, I am trying to scan pictures with the Canon LIDE 110 using Photoshop Elements on a PC. The Get Photos/  from Scanner in Photoshop works great when i have the image set to save as a jpg' but when i set preferences to scan in and save the image as a TIFF, I get a message that says "Software for this Device could not be launched. The device is not connected or busy" What can I do to be able to scan in and save a TIFF?
    Thanks, Walter

    Hello wtneary.
Unfortunately, we are not familiar with some of the message you described.
However, our MP Navigator program has the ability to save images in TIFF format.  Please visit the following link to download the program:

  • Scanning wirelessly with Epson printer and OS 10.6.4

Cannot scan wirelessly with Epson NX515 and 10.6.4. Will print, but not scan. Will only scan with ethernet connection and using Image Capture app.
Error message indicates No Connection. But there is a connection because I can print wirelessly.
    Thank you.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Ella.
Epson Support indicate that you must install Apple's Rosetta software - available from the installation disk for SL. In addition they indicate a communication problem which they are working on but I don't know how old this message is, ie how well they keep their website updated, nor do I know whether this affects wireless communication for scanning.
Epson also indicate that some of their supplied software comes from other companies and you might need to download updates from those companies directly. This might apply to the scanning software or a component of it. They do give web links for this.
I don't know how compatible this model is with wireless scanning but there is a note about making sure that the wireless settings allow the a/b settings as it's not able to operate through the n setting. I imagine that the settings are usually set for compatibility.
You should use Software Update to ensure you have the latest Epson software.
Note that scanning seems to put greater demands on the network than printing.

  • Can print but not scan wirelessly with Cannon MX860

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2009) and just upgraded to Mountain Lion this week. Everything seemed to be working fine until I tried to use my scanner. I use the "Open Scanner" interface that comes with OS X as opposed to the Cannon scanner software because for me it's just more intuitive and easier to use. I tried to open the "Open Scanner" function for my MX860, but all that came up was a grey box with the 'Scan" and "Hide Details" buttons greyed out. When I had Lion and launched this function, my computer would automatically lanuch a preview scan of whatever it was I was trying to scan.
I tried deleting my printer and scanner from my print/scan queue, but now I can only re-install the printer. How do I add the scanning function back into the queue so I can use the "Open Scanner" function to scan wirelessly from my MX860?
NOTE: I am not interested in using the Cannon Scanner software to scan. I want to use the scanning software that comes with OS X. Please help!

    Hello havenrock,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some scanning issues when attempting to scan to your computer with a wireless connection.
When scanning over a wireless connection, one of the more common issues is the Firewall or anti virus blocking communication.  I suggest you disable the firewall and the anti virus protection and then reboot the computer.
Once the computer is back on, attempt the scan again.
Let me know how you make out and if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to ask.
    Cheers,

  • Can I scan wireless with Airport Extreem?

Have a HP 5280 all in one. I print wirelessly, but want to scan an image wireless. I tried the scan software and it can't find the scanner. I pluged the HP into the Macbook and it worked fine. Sorry if I'm in the wrong forum. This is for my neighbor with a brand new Macbook pro with 10.5. Your comments welcomed.

I have setup a few HP allin ones that are networkable and have had not issues scanning wireless however nut until a ran the HP setup assistant.
Leopard will see the printer without the need to run the HP setup assistant but it wont recognise it as a scanner.

  • Scanning wirelessly with Time Capsule

I set-up my HP All-in-One Printer to print wirelessly from my computer using Time Capsule, however, I've been unable to figure out how to scan documents from the printer.  Does Time Capsule support scanning wirelessly???  If it does, how do I set-up the scanner???

Does Time Capsule support scanning wirelessly???
Is your All-in-One connected to the Time Capsule using the USB port, or is it connecting using wireless only?
If USB, it is a matter of opinion as to who supports what.  HP has not provided full function drivers that would allow advanced features like scan, copy, maintenance, etc when the device is connected to a USB port on a router. Only the print function is supported.
Apple can only provide the drivers that they get from the printer manufacturers. HP might have a full function driver available on their support site, so that might be worth checking. Or, they may be able to confirm a time when they do expect to be able to offer full functionality.

  • What is the WPS button on my access point?  I am trying to setup wirelessly with a canon MX892 printer

Printer setup instructions say to press the WPS  button on the access point (my 4th gen Time Capsule).  Does that mean hit reset and will I have to setup every other device again by doing that?

No, do not hit reset .. it is not a WPS button.
Apple products do not use WPS, so no WPS button is needed. And they have no need to implement one.. nothing exists outside the Apple bubble.. didn't you know that??
Read the forum expert Tesserax instructions for using WPS. https://discussions.apple.com/message/16034147#16034147
But it is better to plug in your printer to a mac by usb and use the disk provided to do a full manual setup of wireless.. WPS is simply the easy way.

  • Updated driver will not enable HP Photosmart 5524 to scan wirelessly

I have been printing & scanning wirelessly with my HP Photosmart 5524 device since purchase.  I updated the driver this morning as part of a refresh on my mac laptop to speed up its performance.  I am using Mac OSX 10.6.8.
I am now unable to scan using my wifi network direct from the HP device.  I have uninstalled & reintalled the new driver twice.  Restarted my router, laptop & HP device.
As stated the driver is now installed twice - one to be used with USB wire & one on wifi.  The scanner & print options are visible for the USB driver but print is the only option for the wifi driver.  It is not convenient to have my laptop  constantly near the scanner so I really need to get the wifi scan option working again.
I tested the HP Web Service & can scan perfectly fine on the network that way.  Its ONLY the new driver that will not show a scan option.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forums ELAMC,
I saw your post about wanting to scan wireless with your Photosmart 5524 however, you are unable to since a driver update.
Here are my suggestions that might help!
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Restart the computer
Re-add the printer (Ensure you're adding the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver)
HP Photosmart Full Feature Software and Drivers - Mac OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8
Additionally, you can try a firmware update: Firmware Update to improve functionality and performance

  • OS 10.6.8 and Canon printer.  Prints wireless but will not scan wireless.

Just bought a Canon MX890 multifunction.  OS 10.6.8.  Used Canon support to help me set up wireless and I can print wireless but it will not scan wireless.  Error message reads:  "Cannot communicate with scanner for these reasons:  Scanner is turned off or USB cable is disconnected."  Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are trying to use Canon's MP Navigator application. To get this to work via wireless, you first need to open Canon IJ Network Selector which is located in Applications > Canon Utilities. With this application open it should show you the MX890 on the network. Select it and OK the change.
Next step is to open the MP Navigator application and click on the Preferences button. Then from the General tab you need to ensure the Canon MX890 Network is set.
With these two actions completed you should be able to scan with MP Navigator.
Or as Carolyn has instructed, you can use Image Capture which is included with OS X to scan from the MX890.

  • How do I wirelessly reconnect the scanning function on my Canon PIXMA MG3350?

I recently bought a new computer without cd drive. I managed to wirelessly connect my Canon printer to the wifi network. When I wanted to scan a document today, I noticed it could not. I am trying to remember if I have been able to scan successfully since buying my new computer, but no such luck. The only conclusion I can draw is that something has gone wrong with the connection. Can somebody help?
    Thanks!

    Of course,
I am not seeing any error messages on my Canon printer nor on my computer. The problem is that I cannot even click the scan button on my computer in my printer application. This is why I would like to reconnect my computer to my scanner. Printing works no problemo.
I work with a MacBook Pro Retina operating system Yosemite and just updated to OS X 10.10.1. This update included one for printer and scanner. Scanner button still does not work.
Any help and suggestions are welcomed!

  • Can't scan wirelessly from Canon Pixma MX892

I'm on the latest OS X 10.8.2.  I can scan wirelesly at home with no problems from my HP OfficeJet 6900 series.  I just open up the Preview app, choose File > Import from Scanner and away I go.
But I just bought a new Canon Pixma MX892 that claims to scan wirelessly.  I've printed wirelessly with no problems from the Canon printer.  But when I want to scan a document, I open the Preview app and the option to Import from Scanner is grey and I'm not able to select it.
I went to the Canon website and found the scanner drivers and installed those.  But it still doesn't work.
    I'm stuck.  Help!

I figured out how to make it work by going back to the product page (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_s eries/pixma_mx892#DriversAndSoftware) and downloading the MP Navigator EX Ver. 5.1.0.
You have to choose your OS and version.  Then the MP Navigator is located in the Software menu.
Once I downloaded this program, I was eventually able to set it up and scan from it.
But still no option to scan from the menu in the Preview program.

  • I can't scan over wireless with my laserjet 100 color mfp m175mw - Windows 7

HP Scan software doesn't boot up and work unless printer is hooked to pc via usb.  Can't seem to scan wirelessly.  Normal?

    Hi @juancgallardo ,
I see that you are experiencing issues scanning over the wireless network and hardwired network on Yosemite.
I would like to help you out with this issue today.
The drivers for Yosemite are installed by the Apple Updates.
Installing Your HP Printer Driver and Software for Mac OS X.
Did you add the printer as a Bonjour printer or IP Protocal?
IP Protocal won't allow you to scan, just print.
You can also download and install the HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X.
If you are still having issues then check that the scanning ports on the router to make sure that they are open. You can contact the router company to check and open these ports 9220/9500/427 on the router.
If you still can't scan, connect the printer directly to the Mac with a USB cable and see if you can scan. Just to rule out a network issue.
What kind of router do you have?
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!
    Thank You.

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.
    Barry
