want to scan to text file on hp oj8600, software indicates can do. However printer system software only allows pdf or jpg file type creation.

    Hello @Richf95,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are trying to save scans as a text file.
    I would like to help.
PDF has become the standard file type used when scanning/saving a document.
Most printers will not have text as a default option.
    Try the following:
    Open the HP scan utility
In the lower left hand corner select 'Create New Shortcut...'
Name your new short cut. I went with Text.
In the next window select the file tab.
In the drop down menu, select Text.
This should create a shortcut that will allow you to save scans as a .txt file.

  • Scan to pdf page wanted to cut and move bottom text up

I have a scanned to pdf (raster image) that I attempted to
OCR in Acrobat 9 Pro.  Then I opened it PS CS4 and wanted to cut
the bottom text and move it up but I did not know how.  How would you do this?
The page had narrow top and bottom margins with much white space in the middle.  I thought I could move the bottom text up but I either did not have the rght tool or something was not working because it acted like one image on te page.
    Thanks!

I may still give the Epson Artisan 810 a hard look...it appears to be a nice AIO. One other thing I hate about my HP is if I haven't printed in a day or two the first time I send something to it, it just sits there making noises for five minutes before doing anything. Same thing when it quits...it makes noises for a couple of minutes and then quiets down. Does the 810 do anything similar? Lastly, I'm pretty happy with the color prints that this one makes...how are they with the 810.
Thanks for your time in answering these questions.

  • I use Outlook for my email on the Safari web browser, and about 90% of the time when I want to attach a pdf or jpg file the email message will crash.

I use Outlook for my email on the Safari web browser, and about 90% of the time when I want to attach a pdf or jpg file it fails and about 50% of the time when I want to send a standard text massage it will also fail and the email massage crashes. The only way I can get my Outlook to work is if I switch to Firefox web browser. I would rather not switch to a new web browser if I don't have to.
It seems like what ever the problem is that its related the Safari web browser, because it works fine on the Firefox web browser.
I think its some kind of plug-in failure because it giving me a LOC ERROR:
LOC ERROR: Unable to locate localized string for resource ID 5007.
How can I fix this Plug-in?
And, yes my softwer is conpletly updated…

That's an Outlook issue. You'll probably get better responses posting on the Office for Mac forums.

What program can search old typewriter documents (1980) which are being scanned into PDF's?

Scanned documents are just images, but using OCR on them will turn them into text documents.  Adobe Acrobat Pro can do that.  After saving the OCR-ed document, it will be searchable by any PDF viewer.

  • Converting a pdf to jpg

I scanned some pictures and for some reason they loaded as
pdf instead of jpg. Is there any way to convert the file to jpg format
? Does anyone know why the pictures would scan as pdf rather than jpg or bitmap?

    Hello there,
I'm sorry you're having trouble. If you find that images are scanning as one format rather than another (preferred) format, you may want to use the software that came with your scanner to determine the format to which scanned images will be saved; that's something you should be able to control. Unfortunately, I can't offer much more assistance than that; if you need to convert the existing PDF files to JPEG files, you'll have to use software like Adobe Acrobat. Here is a link to the product page:

    I hope this helps!

  • Can't scan to PDF file on HP Photosmart 7520 printer

I have two HP Photosmart 7520 printers  - one in my home and one at summer home.  On one when I scan I get the option of document or photo and PDF or jpeg.  On the other printer, I am not given any options and it automatically scans into a jpeg file.  How can I get the PDF format option to work on printer number 2?

    Hi @healthdesigner,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan to PDF on your HP Photosmart 7520 printer. I am happy to help you with your scanning!
For further assistance, I will need some additional information:
If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
If the printer is able to make copies.

  • Which Approach?---Scan into JPEGs and then save as PDF or scan into PDF?

I am now learning to use my Canon Pixma MX870. I installed the full suite of Canon printing, scanning, faxing and whatever else software they provide for this all-in-one.
There are several different ways you can approach things with this machine which makes it a little confusing. You can do things with a one touch kind of method or you can delve deeper into the menus and adjust lots of settings.
Right now I am working on scanning documents into PDFs. The Canon software lets me create multipage PDFs which is something I've been wanting to do. My question is, is it best to scan images as JPEGs and then save them as a multipage PDF or is it best to scan into PDF directly (which the scanner seems to offer as well) and then save as a multipage PDF? I'm thinking in terms of the best optimization of file size vs. image quality and things like that.
Is the scanner actually doing anything differently when scanning into JPEG vs. PDF? Or is the scanning all the same and it's just the saving of the file that is different?
In general what dpi setting is usually sufficient to use to scan a basic text document without taking up too much file space?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Steve M.

Maybe you don't need that. I prefer using Apple's Image Capture for scanning.

Let the software do it for you. That will be fewer steps for you. Image-based PDFs are going to be large. There is no way around that. If they are too large, you can use Preview's Save As feature and play around with the Quartz Filter.

Scans are scans. The JPEG file format is lossly and will look worse than other types. If you are scanning in photographs, the JPEGs will look good. If you are scanning in crisp text, JPEGS will have lots of artifacts and look bad.
In general what dpi setting is usually sufficient to use to scan a basic text document without taking up too much file space?
I pretty much always keep it at 300 unless I need something special or when the original is really small and I intend to blow it up.

  • 7520 Scan to .pdf

I have a HP 7520 and it does not give me an option to select .pdf to do my document scanning.  The only options for File Type in the edit profile are .bmp, .jpg,.png,.tiff.  These are the only options under both photo and documents.  How to I get the .pdf added so I can scan to a .pdf.  I don't know why this is not a standard options and have not been able to find an answer to this question anyplace.

I should think you would have the option to scan to PDF with the Printer software.
If you have not done so for a while, please do (re)install the Full Feature Software for the printer:

  • PDF to JPG quality

I'm a newbee and this may be very basic, but I have not been able to figure it out.
GOAL: Get a WORD Table on my website as JPG
I have been instructed to Save WORD DOC as PDF.  Check
Then Save PDF as JPG. Check
Crop as needed and Re-Save. Check
The JPG has very low quality (fuzzy edges) compared to the one my Webmaster did for me.
I tried reducing the size of the JPG to 70%, 60% and even 50% with the same fuzzy results.
It looks clean on the computer but isn't producing the same results online.
Question: Are there different levels of Adobe acrobat.  In other words my Free Download won't give me the same quality as a purchased version?

If you use the save as jpg with maximum quality you may be able to do what you want. The problem with saving as jpg is that it is a lossy process. Each time you save as jpg you will loose detail. If you don't use the maximum quality you may loose too much detail. The people who are giving you directions are people who do not know what they are saying.  What program are you doing your cropping in? What program are you  using to resize the graphic?
You should be cropping in Acrobat before saving as jpg. That is one less save, one less loss of quality. JPG files are designed for photographs, they are really the wrong tool for displaying these images. I would choose either gif or png. But more importantly these are very simple tables and should be displayed as html tables. This can be done in word. You don't need to learn how to create html.
I am attaching two copies of the cropped file. Here is the first with the quality of the jpg set to maximum and the picture set to greyscale (as opposed to the rgb that was used in the web version). The size is more than 200KB.
Here is the file saved as a greyscale png. File size 20 KB
The quality is similar, but the difference in file size is huge. Note, that saving from pdf to jpg is insufficient since the graphics are too large they must be resized. If you resize the graphic and resave as jpg you loose more quality and detail than if this is done with a png. But note that you may get ok reproduction with jpg set to maximum, but that is still no reason not to use a more appropriate image type like png. As to what your superior is telling you to do, speak with the people responsible for the web site. See what they suggest, get them to speak with your superiors. There is no extra work saving as jpg or png, just the size and quality of the result.

The scanner that I have is a hp deskjet F2110 all-in one.  How do I scan and save as a PDF file.  The only options that I can find are JPG, BMP, PNJ, TIF.
Is it even possable to scan as a PDF file on this scanner?

Try running the HP Print and Scan Doctor to start with and let me know the detailed results or include a screen shot to me.
Also, like I mentioned above, ensure you have the full software downloaded and installed:
HP Deskjet F2100/F4100 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver
Afterwards, open up the printer software from your desktop and let me know if you have the options to "Scan to PDF".

  • HP5590 after scanning to PDF, outcome rotates 20 degrees

As mentioned in the title, just after scanning a magazine cover in 300 or 600 dpi using the "print to pdf" option, the picture rotates 20-30 degrees out of the screen. So right after scanning it's 100% ok. But when you want to cut off some edges or save the image, it automatically rotates.
The rotation is also saved and cannot be undone. So all scans are useless.
Currently I use the latest available drivers and HP scanning software.
    Anyone that knows a solution?
    Thanks!!

    Hi Kililei,
That's a strange one for sure     Have you had a chance to try HP's Print and Scan doctor to see if it'll fix it automatically?

  • Where we do attach scanned invoices(PDF)  in MIRO.

    Hi,
    Following is the requirement,
What we want is the ability to attach a scanned invoice (pdf) to the IR.  Without this we would have two separate filing systems u2013 attached invoices in SAP for PO items and hard copy filed for non-po invoices.
Is there any option in MIRO  to  attach  Scanned invoice( PDF). Please give your valuable thought on the same.
    Thanks in Advance.

Hi, I just found some hints about it:
    - Please check this threat: Archivelink to archive an image and link it to a parked MM invoice via RFC
    - If you introduce your paper invoice in an archiving system, you must assign the invoice document. For that, use the barcode.
You can assign a document type in paper to each document type from all societies.
In the customizing for entering barcodes, you can specify is entering barcodes is activated and if the system must check the entered barcode according to the document type and user.
    - Check the SRM workflow, if appropiate, I mean, if you use it.
-In Invoice Verification, you can store inbound and outbound documents in external storage
    systems using SAP ArchiveLink.
The scanned documents are stored in an external storage system and linked to the relevant R/3
documents. You can display the stored documents from the display of the R/3 documents. Check http://help.sap.com/saphelp_ish471/helpdata/EN/78/ee034b0eb811d3b6ee0000e82de955/frameset.htm

  • Scan to pdf C7280 not available after windows 8.1 upgrade

After upgrading to 8.1, my program from HP no longer worked.  Now I cannot scan to PDF on my HP C7280.  my only option now is to scan to JPG or some other useless file type for documents.  I have loaded and reloaded and reloaded the updated driver and complete solution package but it will not finish installing to show me the same HP software I had before, I have to resort to the windows version supplied with Windows 8.1.  PLEASE help!!!!

    Hello gard1104,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you no longer have an option to "Scan to PDF" using the Photosmart C7280. I will do my best to assist you! I realize you have uninstalled/reinstalled the software already. How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB? Let's try a couple of steps:
Please perform a "Level Three Uninstall" on your computer: (If you have this printer connected by a USB cable, then remove this cord from computer.
    a) On the keyboard, hit the Windows key and "R" together. In the Run box type in %temp% and hit enter.
    b) Locate the correct folder starting with "7z" (the correct folder contains "Util" and "CCC" folders).
    c) Open folder "Util".
    d) Open folder "CCC".
    e) Please run the L3uninstall.bat.
    f) When the uninstall has completed, restart the computer.
Also, make sure Adobe Reader is installed on your computer. Please follow this HP document on The PDF File Type Is Not an Option When Scanning from HP Solution Center in Windows. Only perform "Solution Two" from this document.
Next, please perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. Restart the computer once this step is completed. Now, you want to install the full feature software from the HP website here. Choose your correct operating system; Either 32 bit or 64 bit.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
