Scared to sync my shuffle for the first time..

I had an older Ipod and it got broken so my I Itunes has tons of music still on it.
I got the shuffle as a replacement for the old Ipod.
*Will it delete all my music on Itunes the first time I sync it?*
Thanks for your help

Well, when I bought the other, older Ipods I had, they wiped Itunes clean of all of its music the first time you synchronize. I guess the computer would default to the new Ipod and since its hard drive was blank, it just blanked out all my Itunes content.

I tried to sync my phone for the first time and somehow it restored and i lost all my data.  Help!

If you don't have a backup made by iTunes, your data and settings are gone.
Apps and other media can be downloaded again for free:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Yes because that information is not located on the hard-drive of your new mac! If it is purchased content from the store, than this issue isn't as bad as it looks!
Here is a link explaining how to get your previously purchased content back:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You also want to authorize your Apple ID account on the computer by following these instructions as well:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1730
Basically this link explains to go to the top left corner of your screen where you will see file, edit, view etc! Click on Store in that section and click on authorize this computer, also you want to make sure that the computer will not automatically sync by going to iTunes in the top left corner, just to the right of the apple symbol if iTunes is selected, and go to prefrences, and here you will see back up! Right under the back-ups has an option explaining to prevent devices from automatically syncing which is good cause you may be able to transfer your purchases from there which will put your content into the computer, and if that happens than we don't lose anything
Hopefully I was of some help:)

I have windows and I have synced my ipad for the first time.  I'm at step 6 of 6 Downloading Safari safe browsing data. I have been here at this step going on 2 hours.  Is this normal or is something wrong.

Lyrics aren't supported in the Music app on iOS 5 on the iPad. These are user-to-user forums, they are not monitored by Apple (there are too many forums/threads/messages for that to happen). If you want to leave feedback for Apple then you can do so here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • I need help, i just synced my iphone3gs for the first time and now most of my apps wont work

I just used itunes for the first time to sync my iphone 3GS!!!  Now, half of my apps will not work! Any suggestions? I touch on the app and it flashes real fast then back to my home screen...  HELP PLEASE!!!!

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for at least 10 sec, until the Apple logo comes back.
If this does not work, restore the phone. Restoring is covered here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • Lost photos after syncing iphone 4 for the first time

I just connected my iphone4 to my pc for the first time and now my pictures are all gone (on both computer and phone). Any way to get them back?

Sounds like you performed a sync to an empty Outlook, correct? You never want to sync to an empty application. Doing so will erase the data on your phone. Before you do anything else, put one unique contact, calendar & note entry in Outlook.
As to restoring your lost data, the key question is have you performed a sync since the sync that erased your data? If not, restoring from backup will restore the data. If you have synced since that initial sync, your data is gone. So, if you have not synced, do this: First disable auto-sync in iTunes>Preferences>Devices(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click in the device pane & select "Reset Warnings". Right-click again and select "Restore from Backup". If prompted to create another backup, decline. When the restore completes, you must then sync to restore your iTunes content. You'll get a popup regarding your contacts, etc., asking to "Merge" or "Replace". Select "Merge".

Since the maximum OS X version for an eMac is 10.5, how are you running OS X 10.7.5 on the eMac?

  • Should it take this long to sync my Nano for the first time? Nine hours and counting!!!

New Nano. Installed itunes on my laptop...moved all my music into the library. Checked the songs I want on my and chose to sync the lower 128kbps for syncing. Started this sync over nine hours ago and am a little over halway done syncing the 8.6gb of audio. Should it take this long? Is this what I can expect everytime I sync my ipod?

No you shouldn't expect this everytime you sync your Nano.  The conversion process to 128 kpbs AAC option may be the cause of the issue.  However, they should now be already converted, so the next time you sync your iPod, it should only take a fraction of the amount of time it has this first time.
In short, no need to worry.

  • Syncing my phone for the first time, i lost the contacts in the phone

    Hello-
I've had my phone about a month and i've been phyically inputting contacts as I go.
I also have a work imac and a home imac where i sync my cal's and contact info.
When i plugged in my iphone today to download the newest update, I did the sync thing with my home desktop, and once finished it wiped away all contacts created IN THE PHONE.
Can someone explain why/how this could have happened?
And is it only a one-way device for syncing?
I can't seem to retrieve any of the data that I had put straight into the phone.
    Thanks

Did your home computer have any contacts in Outlook (since you said you normally sync contacts with your work computer)? If there weren't any contacts in Outlook, it would replace. If there were contacts in Outlook it should have given you the option to merge or replace and you would have (should have) chosen merge.
If you re-sync with your work computer, it should sync all of the contacts back onto the phone. It is a two-way sync, but gets a little trickier when you go between multiple computers.
I would recommend disabling auto sync on your home computer, so you can plug in your phone and have control of what's "checked or not checked" to sync before it starts to sync and does stuff you don't want it to do...

  • HT4972 I just got done successfully syncing my iPhone for the first time to my mac but when I clicked update it had a notice and I want to know if it will delete my music if I continue to update.

    The pop up says
"Updating to iOS 5.1.1 will delete all of the apps and media, including iTunes Store purchases, on your iPhone. To preserve your content, apply this update on the computer where you sync apps, music videos, and photos.
Updating on this computer will only preserve contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings. Please do not interrupt the update, which may take an hour or longer to complete. iTunes will verify the software update with Apple."
What do I do now? My only options on the pop up are cancel or update.

After the update you sync your content back to your phone. It should all be in your iTunes library & thus there should be no issues putting it all back on your phone.

  • I am syncing my iphone for the first time and I do not know if I should select set up as a new iPhone or restore from backup of my iPod? Can someone help?

I have never had an iPhone before and I want to make sure I can share my music correctly without erasing anything.

If you want to have the music and apps in your iPhone, i suggest setting up from backup.
You can also always manually install them back even if you do a set up as new.

Some apps that you download on your iPhone may possibly be to new for the iPod touch 2nd gen. I have a iPhone 5 and a iPod touch 2nd generation myself. If you plug his ipod into iTunes and restore it from a backup of your iPhone than it will download the paid apps and music that are compatible with his ipod. Hope this helps.
