SCAT in ECC 6.0

Hi experts, Can anyone explain clearly how SCAT is used to upload the data with the transaction in ECC-6.0 V
Thanks,
Oar

SCAT is used to upload a bulk data from NON SAP system to SAP system. It is used for the creation of Master data.
The steps to be followed ....
Tcode SCAT -> enter the test case (it should start with 'Z' ie eg Z_FLOCATION_CREATION) and click TCD icon.
It asks for the Transaction code that you want to use it.
ie if oyu want to create a function location, give the tcode as IL01.
It takes you to the IL01 screen.
You can enter the data that you need to input.
But be sure to input the correct data, since all the cursor position are recorded.
Input all the data that you want to give and save it.
Click Back -> stop recording -> click back - >Save -> click Local Object ->saved message is popped up.
Select the test case that was created and click change icon.double click the list that is appearing.
Again Double click the any one from the list, it leads you to the the transaction that was recorded.
From there you can select the fields for which you want the data to be default or variable.
For which field you are select as variable, select the content and click Insert Import Parameter icon. That field will change into grey.
After doing this, click back and from the menu bar, goto -> Variant -> Export to the local system.
Prepare the data in the same format as that of the exported document.
Import the same from the local system. and you can choose the mode of run (foreground or background).
All the data is imported and the master data is created through SCAT.

  • Massive data input for employees Transaction

    Hi experts!
I need to perform a massive data input for employees. Iu2018ve tried with de Tx PA71 u2013 Fast entry of Time Data - but It needs a document or a manual preselecting.
Its necessary selecting ranges of personnel number in order to perform a massive data input for employees as a salary benefit or bonus for a group of employees.
Do you know that kind of transaction?
    Thanks in advanced!

    Hi ,
You could also use T Code : SCAT/SCEM  for mass upload or deload.
You may use below method to create SCAT in ECC (This is not a Direct method)
    1) Run transaction SCEM
    2) Enter a CATT name
    3) Click on change, prompt appears saying it doesn't exist, do you want to
    create. Click yes.
    4) Enter the TCODE to record.
    5) Execute the TCODE and save data.
    6) Back out. Click End and copy button.
    7) Double-click the TCD on the left side of screen
    8) Click F5 or Field Inputs Variants
    9) Use black down-arrow to step through screens.
    10) Double click on fields to set variables. (SAP adds leading & to each
    variable name).
    11) Save and back out.
    12) Go to menu path Environment --> Extended CATT.
    13) Click change and change type from (M) Manual Test Case to (C) CATT.
    14) Assign component.
    15) Click save. Back out.
    16) Execute SCAT and Go to --> Variants --> Export Default and save as text
    file.
    17) Edit file with new test data.
    18) Execute CATT.
After step 6 you can also leave SCEM and run SCAT and perform the
    parameterization there as usual.
    Hope this helps.

  • SCAT recording in ECC 6.0

    Hi Experts,
In 4.7 version we used to have an option "TCD" in SCAT transaction via. which we used to record a test case. For example multiple MRP controller upload in OMD0.
Now, in ECC 6.0 we don't have "TCD" option.
Could you let me knowhow to create a Test case in 6.0
    Thanks in adnvance,
    Rishi

    Hi
    1. SAP has stopped the functionality of recording for the test cases in the ECC 6.00
    2. Now you need to use the ECATT function.
    3. It performs the same function but it is more advanced than the SCAT.

I certainly do not use SCAT or SECATT to load master data, especially not material master.
A material master has  dynamic screens, based on the material type the view selection will be different, based on entries made in MRP view fields become hidden or mandatory. Such things canot be done with a static recording.
SAP provides batch input programs and BAPIs for material master load and additonally loading per IDOC in LSMW (which offers as well batch input and Bapi methods)

  • Catt in ECC 6.0 version

    Hi all,
When I am trying to create  CATT in scat tcode in ECC 6.0
    its giving error message
realeases higher than 6.0 are not permitted.
Can someone tell me how to create catt in ECC 6.0 version.
    Regards,
    Sudha.

SAP users use CATT frequently to upload master data or to make changes to master data records. SAP Consultants and Abapers tend to use it for creating test data. The transactions run without user interaction. You can check system messages and test database changes. All tests are logged. The CATT records your keystrokes while performing the actual transaction. You then identify the fields that you wish to change in that view. Then export this data to a spreadsheet to populate with the data required. This is uploaded and executed saving you keying in the data manually.
To perform CATT, it has to be enabled in your production environment (your systems administrator should be able to do this - SCC4). You will also need access to your development system to create the CATT script.
The process of uploading data with a CATT:
    Activate CATT in your client
In transaction code SCC4 - click the change button
Double click on the client number
In the Restriction section, tick Allows CATT processes to be started.
    Upload data using CATT
    1. Create Import variant for the fields you need
    Transaction SCAT
    Goto Parameters
    Create Import Variant
    Goto Variant -> Edit
Goto Variant -> Fast entry or F9
    Duplicate 01
    2. To change the MRP Group for a list of Material
Assuming that I want to change the MRP Group for a list of Material.
My text files should look something like this:
Variant ID Variant Text &ZDISGR &ZMATNR
--> Parameter texts MRP group Material
    --> Default Values M1 A001
Changes to the default values displayed above not effective
    #01 M1 A001
    #02 '' A002
    #03 M1 A003
Note : '' denotes a blank in the field. e.g. Material A002 MRP group will be replaced by a blank.
    3. Configure the recorded entry fields to read from the imported text file data
In the CATT : Maintain functions test case Screen
Double click on the Object Name
Double click on the screen number with your desired fields
Park the cursor on the fields
    Click Edit -> Details
Fill in the Parameters Name and Field Contents
    Finish Save it.
    Assign your text file data.
In the CATT : Execute test case Screen
Click External from file and choose your text file
CATT will now read from your text file and update whatever data you have specified.
you can also go through this link to get even more details on it..

    Hai.
    check this.
Step-by-Step Guide for using BAPI in LSMW
Note! The screen prints in this article are from ECC 5.0. They may differ slightly in other versions.
    Introduction:
This document details the usage of BAPI in LSMW. We have used the example of migration of the purchase order data into SAP.
    Pre-requisites:
It is assumed that the reader of this article has the minimum knowledge required on the Business Object, BAPI, Message Types and IDoc Types.
    Step-by-Step Procedure:
Details of the BAPI used in this scenario:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
Details of Message Type and Basic IDoc Type:
    Message Type: PORDCR
    Basic IDoc Type: PORDCR02
Let’s have a look at the BAPI first, before proceeding to the LSMW:
    1. Go to Transaction BAPI
    2. Click on Search Button
    3. Enter the value “BUS2012” and select “Obj.type(Technical Object Name”
    4. Press ENTER
    5. Following screen appears:

    11. Select the radio button “Business Object Method” and enter the following details:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
    Hit ENTER
    12. Save and click on BACK button. Following information message is displayed.
    13. Now select step 2 “Maintain Source Structures” and click “Execute”.
    14. In this step, we need to maintain the source structure. In our example, lets consider the example of a file with 2 structures Head and Item data as shown below:
Click on Create and name the source structure as HEADERDATA. Now select HEADERDATA and click on “Create” again to create the child structure. Following popup appears:
Select “Lower Level” and click on Continue. Enter the Item data structure name.
Click Save and hit BACK button to go to the main screen.

BDC is the way to transfer data by writing a batch input program which can use either session or call transaction method.
LSMW used to transfer data without/less code.
What type of data we transfer using LSMW?
LSMW is best suited for transferring master data.
Actually BDC and LSMW are not comparable at all.
for example LSMW itself can use BDC as a way of mass data transfer.
BDC is a mass data transfer technique via screen logic of existing SAP Data entry transactions. It behaves as if you are manually making thousand of entires into sap system as a background job. And that is probably the reason why BAPI's are preffered over BDC's.
On the other hand LSMW is a tool to facilitate DATA migration from other legacy systems ... It contains step by step procedure for data migration.
Like Managing Data Migration Projects , Creating Source Structures , Mapping Source structures wid Target structures , etc etc
LSMW internally might well be using the following techniqes for data transfer..
    1. IDOX
    2. Direct Input / BDC
    4. BAPI's
LSMW is an encapsulated data transfer tool. It can provide the same functionality as BDC infact much more but when coming to techinical perspective most the parameters are encapulated. To listout some of the differences :
LSMW is basicaly designed for a fuctional consultant who do not do much coding but need to explore the fuctionality while BDC is designed for a technical consultant.
LSMW offers different techinque for migrating data: Direct input ,BAPI,Idoc,Batch input recording. While bdc basically uses recording.
LSMW mapping is done by SAP while in BDC we have to do it explicitly .
LSMW is basically for standard SAP application while bdc basically for customized application.
Coding can be done flexibly in BDC when compared to LSMW
    see this and do accordingly

  • Can we use CATTs in ECC 6?

    Hi
Can we use CATTs in ECC 6. i heared that we can't use CATT in ECC 6 and we can use only SECAT.
    Please clarify
    thanks

    Hi,
As CATT (SCAT) has several critical technical limitations, SAP developed
the testtool eCATT (TCode SECATT) and released it to customers.
I should inform you that CATT/SCAT has been phased out
and is not supported anymore by SAP.

  • SSO to ECC (without java stack), BI (on NetWeaver), & Portal

I have a client that wants to configure their SAP systems in such a way so that the users sign onto their Windows workstations, are authenticated by Windows Active Directory and from then on they can sign on directly to an ECC ABAP instance, a BI instance, and an SAP Portal without having to supply a user/password combination again. (We already have SSO setup for users access some BI reports through the Portal, but in this case we want to setup direct access to the ECC and BI systems without necessarily going through the Portal environment).
The servers are running HP-UX, the clients Windows XP, and the AD system is running under Windows 2003.
Is this possible without using a third-party tool and if so,can anyone point me to the appropriate documentation (I've done a lot of searching, but can't find anything).
    Thanks in advance!

I am sure this has been done before and often discussed here?
Take a look in the FAQ thread at the top of the forum for a general overview discussion of SSO. If you keep an eye out for the note numbers, terms used and those folks who contributed to it when searching, then I am sure will find plenty of infos to start with.
Specific vendor evaluation details and comparisons (outside of the technical realm) are generally not provided, as the 3rd parties are generally competitors...
    Cheers,

    Hi,
ECC 5.0 is based on WAS 6.40 and ECC 6.0 is based on WAS 7.00.
From functional point of view there are some minor differences, as the core functionalities are not changed a lot. However there is Industrial Solutions intergarated to ECC 6.0 by default.
From ABAP point of view you have the following new elements/components:
    - New ABAP editor /meanwhile it's available via downport for lower releases as well/
    - ABAP WebDynpro
    - Enhancement framework
    - Regular experssion support
Also check this link for functionality differences.

SAP R/3 is basic ERP that every one keeps talking about which has got different versions ike 3.1, 4.0, 4.6, 4.7. The latest one in this is the ECC which again has got two versions in the market - ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0.
NetWeaver is the techology stack which gives other solutions that work with R/3 and also provide a technology platform for the ERP to work.
EP - Enterprise portal is a part of the NetWeaver stack and can be used to provide web interface for the user apart from the standard protal functionalities.
You can find more details of NetWeaver here
