  • APEX multi series line chart with different markers for each series

I am using APEX 4.0 and trying to create a multi-series line chart that will have a different for each series.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

    Hello -
    It is possible to do.
Another user in this forum has written some code snippets to assist in creating your own custom XML for charting. That reference can be found http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:30:418355095936797::NO:::
Look this over and it should get you moving in the right direction.
What you are trying to do isn't terribly difficult. In fact, I did it fairly easily as can be seen http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=28155:4:362637005964920:::::
First, create a Hidden page item.
Next, create a process that runs before regions
That process will create the XML for your line chart and store it in the hidden page item. Use the above references for assistance in setting up the PL/SQL in the process
Then, create your custom XML for your chart. Replace the #DATA# tag in the custom XML with your hidden page item.
It is a bit daunting at first, but once you get the hang of it, it really isn't that bad.

  • Defining a scatter chart with multiple series

I am trying to create a scatter chart with two series.  I am using CR8.5 and CR2008.
I am having difficulty with my data being presented correctly when I attempt to define the scatter chart.  The data is temperature and weather use/sqft for two different years.
Year Period Temp Energy Use/sqft      Year Period Temp Energy Use/sqft
    2012 1/2012  52  3.7172               2013 1/2013  52  3.1712
    2012 2/2012  62  3.7015               2013 2/2013  57  3.1449
    2012 3/2012  70  3.7937               2013 3/2013  63  3.2039
    2012 4/2012  76  3.9882               2013 4/2013  71  3.4551
    2012 5/2012  82  4.2213               2013 5/2013  81  3.9903
    2012 6/2012  87  4.4875               2013 6/2013  85  4.3650
    2012 7/2012  90  4.4727               2013 7/2013  87  4.2072
    2012 8/2012  86  4.6154               2013 8/2013  87  4.2560
I would expect to see something similar to the attached images of an excel files scatter chart.  When I defined the scatter chart in Crystal Report, I need to define a field for 'On change of', and 2 'Values to show'.
I understand that this would not show the expected scatter chart but I went this direction as the series is to be the year.
    On change of:
    - Year
    Show values:
    - Temp
    - Energy Use/Sqft
Problem is the sum of both is being shown. I am trying to keep the series together by year and showing each record as retrieved from the database.
    Thank you,
    Jim

  • Scatter chart with two series?

I have a table showing my cat's weight each day. (He's on a much needed diet and it's important to make sure he's losing weight, but not more that about 1% per week, as I experiment with his diet.) I created a scatter chart with the date on the X axis and his weight on the Y axis, and I made a 7 day moving average trendline to show his progress with most of the random daily fluctuations evened out. So far so good.
I added a column to the chart with a function showing what his weight would be each day if it decreased 1% per week from the average of the previous week. I would like to add this column of data as a second series on the scatter chart so I can make sure he's not losing weight too fast. But I can find no way to do this.
I had no trouble showing both series on a line chart. But no luck with the scatter chart. I tried creating a new scatter chart using all three columns of data, and I tried dragging the third column of data to the original scatter chart.
Is it really possible that Numbers '09 cannot show two data series on a scatter chart? Or is there a way to do it?
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
Maybe this will help. A Scatter Chart displays data pairs, such as a date and a weight. A single column of data would be only one half of the data-pair set. Select both the X and Y value columns for the second set and then add to the Scatter chart.

  • How can I make a graphic (scatter chart) with 1 "y", but multiple "x" (to make a multiple linear regression)?

how can I make a graphic (scatter chart) with 1 "y", but multiple "x" (to make a multiple linear regression)?

    Émilie,
The default for X-Y Charts is for X values not to be shared, so it's entirely possible for you to create X-Y pair sets that have common Y-values and independent X-values.
This answer assumes, as always, that I properly interpreted your problem statement. A linear fit line for each pair set should satisfy.

  • X-y Scatter chart with multiple data series

    Hi,
How do I create an x-y scatter chart with more than 1 data series?  For example:
    Series 1
    x__y
    1__0
    2__5
    3__9
    4__7
    5__2
    Series 2
    x_____y
    0.5___0
    1.3___4.8
    2.6___12.3
    4.1___8.4
    4.9___3.2
I can do this with 2 seperate graphs but I need them on the same graph.
Is there a limit on the number of series that can be placed on a single x-y scatter graph?
    Many thanks.

  • Scatter charts with dates

I am trying to create a scatter chart which has date on the X-axis and meter reading on the Y-axis. The date/time intervals are not regular so I can't use a line or bar chart, but I can't seem to get the scatter chart option to accept the series for the X-axis with the dates in it. Is what I am doing possible in Numbers or will I have to revert to Excel
    Many thanks for any help,
    John Perry.

The Scatter chart requires sets of numerical values.
Date_time aren't numerical values so as you see, we can't chart them.
But it's easy to build a workaround.
    Here column B contains dates.
    In column C, I uses:
    =B-DATE(2008,1,1)
    which returns numerical values
    So, I was able to chart C2 … D11
To refine the result, disable the display of labels on X axis and build a text block with the dates as I did for Graphique 2-1

  • "Scatter" Chart with Multiple Values per Date

    APEX Gurus,
I need to plot a chart with multiple y-axis values along the x-axis.
    Here's an example:
    X-Axis (Date) Y-Axis (Number)
    1-JAN-07 1
    1-JAN-07 2
    1-JAN-07 3
    2-JAN-07 1
    2-JAN-07 2
    3-JAN-07 1
Right now, APEX displays the X-axis (Date) as separate values on the x-axis. But I want all three 1-JAN-07 values to line up vertically under x-axis. I am currently using a line chart for this. And it displays a "dot" for each value (depending on my max rows value).
Any insight would be much appreciated! And thanks in advance!

    Please help!

Sorry for the confusion. Actually I must be doing some thing wrong like using ColumnChart to display a line chart or something like that.
I have now realized that a multi series line chart can be built by having a different data provider for each of the LineSeries object.
So the code below would create a multi series line graph :
[Bindable] private var orangeSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 101000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 960000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 475000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 425000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
[Bindable] private var appleSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 991000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 140000, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 565000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 255000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }
[Bindable] private var bananaSales : ArrayCollection =
                    new ArrayCollection(
                        [ { sales: 891000, month: new Date( '01/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 147560, month: new Date( '02/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 295000, month: new Date( '03/01/2008' ) },
                            { sales: 574000, month: new Date( '04/01/2008' ) }

  • Line chart with different length series?

    Hello,
I would like to draw a line chart with three different series.
    1. Previous year
    2. Current year (until now)
    3. Estimate (2 months)
I've got 12 values for the previous year, 4 values for the current year (January to April) and 2 estimated values for May and June.
When I define the three series, each is stretched over the whole width of the chart. How can I avoid that and force for instance the April values to be displayed above each other? Is it possible at all with this type of chart? (In Excel, it's quite easy...)
    Thanks for any help!
    Sabine

    Hi,
You’ll have to write a query for your series 2 and 3 that has the same number of data points as your series 1 query, in your example that would be 12. Line series charts are always stretched over the full width by design. The months for which you have no data, would have a value of NULL. Please note that there is one issue, which has been fixed in 2.2, that causes the charting engine to only render dots instead of lines for series 2, 3, …, if they have a NULL value at the last data point. So if I understand your requirements correctly, you should try this on our 2.2 hosted beta instance, and then upgrade to 2.2 when it comes out.

  • Multiple Views of same Universe with DIFFERENT rendering style, possible?

I am trying to create a CAD-style application that uses several views to display the objects directly from the front, the side and the top using parallel projection and another view that shows the same objects from a freely moveable camera using perspective projection. Everything is working so far, but I would like to display the objects as wire frame in the parallel projection views and fully textured in the perspective view. I have found options to change the rendering of a shape, but that would change it for all views. Is there a way to set different rendering "styles" (i.e. vertex only, wireframe, flat, shaded, textures) for different views of the same universe?

    hi
i've tried to do that some time ago and i had to give up... unfortunately i think java3D can't use various rendering modes for the same universe

  • On a chart, can we set portions of a chart with different colors

My application involves with fuel cell conditioning during which the V-I curve with go many cycles. I want to distinguish these cycles with different colors but don't know whether it's doable because I think if we set a color, it will set the whole line with the same color. Or if we can stop the line after one cycle and start the second cycle as a new line, then it will be a new color. Anyone can give some suggestion about how it can work? Thanks in advance.
    Guangde

By bundling multiple points together you can get different plots on a waveform graph.  And +Inf plots nothing.  I attached an example that plots a random number.  When the boolean button is switched, it switches to the other plot line, thus another color.  This was only done for 2 different colors, but the case structure and the cluster could be expanded for more than 2 colors.

  • Line chart with different "colors": Values not available are displayed as 0

    Hello,
I defined a line chart with more than one lines (aka "colors" in the chart wizzard) - each line representing the (monthly) values of a year. x axis are the 12 months of the year; y axis are the values.
When one defines such a line chart in BIP client there is a choice between sum, average and count for the data values.
This is no problem for my template as there is only one value per month/year - so I used sum.
The problem: for the actual year there are no values for future months . But bip nevertheless shows 0 for this month/year... Can one prevent this?
    Regards
    Peter

Solved it finally - unavailable values must explicitly be passed to the report with nothing contained in the value tag.
