Scb-68 connection to the building ground

Dear NI experts,
I need to measure the light emission of a laser by means of a photodiode. I have a standard desktop PC connected to a DAQ acquisition board by a USB cable. Then the DAQ is connected to a SCB-68. First question: I must perform a differential acquisition or a single referenced aquisition with a photodiode? Second question: if I chose a single referenced acqisition I need to connect the SCB-68 case directly to the building ground? Or the System PC+DAQ+SCB-68 is already connected to the ground? Sorry for my elementary questions but I not very familiar with electricity...
Thank you so much
Best regards

Hi,
If you have less than 8 signals, you should use Differential mode. This mode does not care about grounding. The only thing that you may want to do is to connect a 100 kOhm resistor between (-)terminal of your AI channel and GND, so that the signal is biased.
If you are going to need more than 8 channels, then Single Ended is the way to go for your connections.
- Referenced> use it if your sensor is connected to ground and the ground is the same as the ground for your PC
- Non Referenced> use it if your sensor is connected to a ground different from the ground of your PC or if it is not grounded.
Cheers,

  • SCB 68 connections

I have a piezo pressure transducer connect by BNC to an amplifier, the exit is BNC and the end of the cable is open: one brings the signal the other the ground. I would like to connect it to the SCB 68 box but I have problems to identify which kind of signal source type I have - grounded signal source or floating signal source - ... (Fig. 3.1 SCB 68 manual) in order to select the best connection. I was thinking to connect the two cable one in the ACH0 and the other one in the ACH0GND? Any idea? Tks Polh

That depends on your amplifier. Is the amplifier output isolated? Does the amplifier run from the building AC supply or from batteries? If from the building AC supply, is it powered through an isolation transformer, or does it have an isolated power supply internally?
The most common situation (in my experience) is that the amplifier runs from the AC supply, and the output shield is connected to the building ground. In that case, you may be able to use the connection to ACH0 and ACH0 Gnd, but you may risk a ground loop. It may be better to use a differential input and connect your signal to ACH0 and the shield to ACH8.
    Hope this helps!

  • Cant set up Airport Express. Trying to create a new wifi at my apartment complex that has provided wifi. I plug the ethernet into the wall in my room and I cannot connect to the wifi.. help please

to help me set up my airport express to my public wifi at my apartment complex

I am a bit lost if you have a public wifi why are you using ethernet into the wall.. is the ethernet just for your apartment.
The Express can work as a wireless  bridge only to the public Wifi nothing else.. it cannot extend wireless.. so the express would need to plug into another router for you to get more than one single connection to the building.
Also does your public wifi have a login page . .. because that will then make life much harder.

  • The wifi available in the building I live in requires you to accept a user agreement each time you log on (obviously Apple TV does not have the option to display a browser webpage, so is there any other way to connect my Apple TV to the wifi??

    Hi guys,
I cannot get my Apple TV to connect to the only available wifi connection in my building.
Basically when I log on to it with other devices you have to type in a password (like all wifi connections) but then it opens a browser window with a user agreement that you have to accept each time you log on. Since Apple TV does not have a browser option I can't log it on.
Is there anyway around this issue???
Or is there anyway to get content from my iPad to display on my Apple TV without an Internet connection on the Apple TV???
    Thanks guys!

    Unfortunately not.

  • When I connect my MacBook Air to iPads through a powered USB hub the power cord for the hub explodes and trips the fuse on the building. I've tried different iPads, cords, power points to no avail.

When I connect my mac air to some iPads through a powered USB hub for VPP/Configurator, the power point for the hub blows out (tripping the fuse in the building). I've tried different iPads, cords, power points and of course hubs. Also the computer has a habit of shutting down when any type of USB device is removed from it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I've done some experimenting, and this is what I've found out:
    1) The problem persists when I reformatted the USB HDD devices to ExFAT, so the problem apparently wasn't due to NTFS for Mac OS X by Paragon.
    2) The problem persists even when BackBlaze is paused, so I don't think that it's due to BackBlaze.
    3) The internet cuts out as soon as data begins transferring either to or from a USB HDD device and won't reconnected until I eject and unplug the device.
    4) The problem affects data transfers through either USB port.

  • SPROXY - No connection to the Integration Builder

    Hi,
While generating a ABAP Proxy the communication between R/3 system and XI 3.0 repository did not work; transaction SPROXY displayed the following error message, 'No connection to the Integration Builder, only local data is visible'.
Can someone please help me out.
    Regards,
    Jigisha

    Hi,
I had the same problem and I have solved it.
You have just to apply the following sap notes :
1232805 - Saint: Queue calculation for an add-on with CRT´s fail.
    769120 - Support Package for APPINT 200_620
The first one is to update tha SPAM/SAINT to v 30 and the second one allow you use the pi/xi objects on application system.
There is another sap note 689847, but you just apply this if the sap notes above described did not work.

  • No connection to the Integration Builder while using ABAP Proxies

    Hi All,
Here am getting an error when i say SPROXY in R3 system.
No connection to the Integration Builder while using ABAP Proxies.
For this i have gone through the blog no 3022.
and i did all the connection. And then i have gone through the steps
Go to---->test connection steps.I added the address called com.sap.aii.server.name.repository in SPROXSET table.
and i run the Tcode SPROXY.Now am getting into DUMP when is say SPROXY.
And also i run a program called SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS to add the address
but i didn't found the path for Excahnge Profile it was disable.
    and later i run a program SPROX_CHECK_IFR_CONNECTION
    now it went into DUMP.
Can Anyone suggest me how to fix this error.
    Thanks,
    Kalyan.

    hi kalyan
1)check whether your R/3 system is based on WEBAS 640 or WEBAS620 (if it is on WEBAS 620 you need to install xi ADD ON,if on WEBAS 640 no need)
    2)check the report SPROX_CHECK_IFR_ADDRESS
The address is taken the from following parameters in the exchange profile (section 'connections'):
    http://server:port/exchangeProfile --> Connection
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.name: Server (e.g. pwdf0436)
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.httpport: Port (e.g. 1080)
    com.sap.aii.connect.repository.contextroot: Root (e.g. rep)
Furthermore, the logon data is also read from the exchange profile(section 'ApplicationSystem'):
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.name: User
    com.sap.aii.applicationsystem.serviceuser.pwd: Password

  • Unable to Connect to the Data Source with Report Builder when using a closed Excel file

I am using Report Builder 3.0 and to get started I am using an Excel spreadsheet as my data source.  I set this up just fine.  I can connect successfully if the file is open Excel.  But if I close the file, I get the error "Unable to
    Connect to the data source".
    This is my connection string:
    Dsn=Licenses;dbq=C:\USERS\AMEADE\DOCUMENTS\licenses.xlsx;defaultdir=C:\USERS\AMEADE\DOCUMENTS;driverid=790;fil=excel 8.0;maxbuffersize=2048;pagetimeout=5
Works fine if the file is open but stops working when the file is closed.  Any idea what I can do?

    Hi Alice,
Based on my understanding, when you keep the Excel file open, you can connect to the data source correctly. But when you close the Excel file, the error “Unable to Connect to the data source” is thrown out.
In your scenario, I would like to know if only this Excel comes across this issue. Have you experienced the same issue when you use other Excel files as a data source? As we tested in our environment, we can connect to the data source whether the Excel file
is open. You can refer to this
article to create a data source again then check if you can connect to the data source when the Excel file is closed.
If issue persists, I would suggest you use the
Process Monitor to capture the processes during the connection to the data source. Then check the result of each process to find the exact reason.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Do I need XI system for the connection to the integration builder

    Hi,
I have a problem which i couldn´t manage to solve with the help of existing threads.
I got the problem that I dont have a connection to the integration builder, I know thats not new, but i want to know if it is possible to create a connection without XI System Landscape, because our company doenst have this system?
    Hope there are possibilities.
    Thanks
    Volker Weckbach

Okay, yes its not expressed clearly i think.
I´ll explain my problem a bit nearer. I´ve worked with the Enterprise Services Builder. Now the Enterprise Services Browser in the TA se80 says that there is no connection to the integration builder, do I need this connection to have access to the work i have done in the ES Builder? I want to do Serviceimplementation.
If this connection is necessary, is it only possible to realize that via XI?
Are there ways to implement the service in an other way, maybe via NetWeaver?
I´m sorry if it´s hard to understand me, but i have not much experience with ABAP programming, i have just started.
    Thanks Volker

  • Problems Connecting to the Internet

Please bear with me I am new to Cisco Routers.
    Back Ground:
Small company that has 2 public IP addesses. The company has 2 buiildings across the street from each other and no way to directly connect them together. Currently the company has 2 NetGear Prosafe FVS336G routers to create a VPN between the two buildings. I am trying to replace the NetGear equipment with 2 Cisco 1921 routers with an EHWIC-1GE-SFP-CU card in each. The ISP has fiber running to each buiilding with a media converter that changes the fiber to copper. No matter what I do I have not been able to get the routers onto the internet. I can ping through the LAn port to the WAN port but not to the next hop to the gateway. Here is the configurations:

    HI Scott,
If I were you, I would remove the WAN connection cable from the router and connect to a laptop and assign the WAN ip address on to the laptop and verify if the internet is working fine from laptop using public ip address. If this is not working then you will have to work with you ISP on the same.
If this is working i would connect back the cable to router WAN port again and check "show ip nat translations" on the router to verify if the NAT is working fine when you try browsing.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards
    Najaf

  • SCB 68 connections

    Dear Sir
I am using NI PCI 6281 along with SCB-68. I want to collect data from a sensor which has BNC connector. My SCB 68 has no BNC port and I can only connect bare wires. What I should do? If I remove the BNC plug from the sensor wire and connect bare sensor wires to SCB 68 then will it be OK? or it will effect on the measurement?
    Kind Regards
    Urfee

You may get a little more noise when going through the connector block than you would if you had a direct BNC connection on the DAQ.  But it shouldn't be enough to matter.  I would just cut the end off of the BNC cable to connect the signal and ground in the terminal block.
But if you are really worried about it, NI does have some DAQ boards with BNC connection.  I haven't looked in a while, but they tend to be on the high end.
