  • Deploy Java and Oracle updates using SCCM 2007 Software Updates

    Hi Team,
I am using SCCM 2007 to deploy software updates on all my servers. Now i want deploy updates fro third party tools like Adobe, Java etc..Please suggest me on how to deploy these updates using SCCM.
I am looking for other simple solution than SCUP 2011. Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Siva

    Hi,
SCUP 2011 would be the way to do it or a package/program. There are commercial software solutions that plugins to configuration Manager like Secunia
    http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/corporate/sc2012_plugin/ ,Solarwinds
    http://www.solarwinds.com/patch-manager.aspx and Shavlik
http://www.shavlik.com/products/scupdates/ that offer a subscription of updates for these products for a cost of course.

  • SCCM 2007-software update synchronizatoin

    Hi All,
Due to some activity happened in our organisation the software update point is  really messed up. Hence i had to delete and re-create the SUP on remote server in SCCM but when i am checking the logs its only showing deleting expired updates. Also, i
m not able to see the WSUS admin console as well. It is always throwing me out with the error. restart server node.I was thinking to completely uninstall the WSUS point and than try to re-install it and than create an SUP point. Will this be a good approach
or WSUS uninstallation may effect any other site system role installation in SCCM environment?
    Rgs,

Before you do that, you may wish to check the wsync.log to confirm if the synchronization is completed correctly

  • Sccm 2007 software reporting report

    Hi All.
I am Using report number 116 "Users that have run a specific metered software program".
i want to add the "Netbios  Name" Column to the report . the column will show the computer the user ran from.
And change it to 6 month period and not specific time .
how can i change the report ?
    Thank for any help.

    The names are  :
115 = Users that have run a specific metered software program
116= Computers that have run a specific metered software program
    Why?
If you merge the two reports, everything will get doubled in value. And there will be not easy way to determine who did what and where.

  • SCCM 2012 Client delpoyment in SCCM 2007 Native world

    Hi Team,
In my account I have SCCM 2007 running in Native mode.... we do not support internet based clients there..but work on HTTPS only. Now I have implemented SCCM 2012 R2 there and now testing the client migration so that I can upgrade the SCCM client agent from
2007 to 2012. In SCCM 2012 we have to support internet based clients and so the SCCM 2012 client which we need to install should be compatible on internet and intranet both
The plan is to use the existing SCCM 2007 infra to do that. Send the ccmsetup.exe ( of SCCM 2012 ) in a package to all the clients via SCCM 2007 Software Distribution and trigger SCCM 2012 installation.
Just to do a small test I did this :
    1. Created a folder in C drive of a client machine and copied the ccmsetup.exe ( of SCCM 2012 ) in it.
    2. Tried to trigger the installation with below mentioned commandlines..... but getting error as mentioned below.... Please help.
    Command line used :
Here ABCD.contoso.org is the intranet MP and PQRS.dmzone.org is internet MP
    CCMSetup.exe /UsePKICert /NoCRLCheck smsmp=ABCD.contoso.org ccmhostname=PQRS.dmzone.org smssitecode=ABC
    CCMSetup.exe /UsePKICert /NoCRLCheck smsmp=ABCD.contoso.org smssitecode=ABC

  • Can I use SCCM 2007 to deploy SCCM 2012 Agent

I was reading the scenarios for deploying the SCCM 2012 agent here
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682132.aspx
I have been planning to deploy the 2012 agent using an SCCM 2007 deployment package. I am not migrating any data/packages/collections/anything from SCCM 2007.
I am looking for a sane way to deploy 2000ish clients a day for 2 weeks and be done.
I figure they are all SCCM 2007 clients so lets deploy 2012 agent using SCCM 2007.
I read the following in the link above and it sounds like the way I want to go – use SCCM 2007 software distribution…
Upgrade installation by using application management
Upgrades clients to a newer version by using Configuration   Manager application management. You can also use Configuration Manager 2007 software
distribution to upgrade clients to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.
Then later in the same document there is this…
How to Upgrade Configuration Manager Clients by Using a Package and Program
You can use Configuration Manager to create and deploy a package and program that upgrades the client software for selected computers in your hierarchy. A package definition file
is supplied with Configuration Manager that populates the package properties with typically used values. You can customize the behavior of the client installation by specifying additional command line properties.
You cannot upgrade Configuration Manager 2007 clients to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager by using this method.
In this scenario, use automatic client upgrade, which automatically creates and deploys a package that contains the latest version of the client.
What???!??  There is no Automatic client upgrade feature in 2007 – so how does that even make sense?  In one section, it says I can deploy the 2012 Agent using SCCM 2007 software distribution, and then later in the same document, it
says I can't.  I am probably misunderstanding somthing.
Is it possible to make a package/program in SCCM 2007 that will make targeted clients upgrade to Agent 2012 and join the new SCCM 2012 Site?

I tested this (deploying 2012 agent using existing 2007 SCCM infrastructure) with a few test systems at my desk and it seems to work pretty smoothly.  I made a package to deploy SCCM 2012 SP1 and added it to my SCCM 2007 Site.  Then I deployed
the 2012 agent from 2007 and it worked great.  If it works this well in production, I will be able to migrate all of my clients in less than a weeks time.
I have not published the 2012 site information in AD - and I don't plan to.  We would have some overlapping site boundaries - and in 2012 it seems its unnecessary in a single site hierarchy.  I AM planning to use boundaries to assign
DPs, but thankfully site and DP boundaries have been separated.  It works great to just specify the site in everything and not worry about auto discovery.  My clients don't move among sites since I only have one large site.
Sorry that I somehow posted this same question twice, and thanks for cleaning that up.
In my installation, I just called ccmsetup.exe with the following command line...
     /mp:myMP.mydomain.com CCMLOGMAXHISTORY=5 CCMLOGMAXSIZE=1000000 SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE;NTFSONLY SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSMP=myMP.mydomain.com SMSSITECODE=CCM
I am not sure that I need to specify the MP twice, but it is working to do so.  I'm also not sure whether the log and cache flags will be honored since there are existing settings from SCCM2007 agent.  I think that the 2012 install will not change
these settings upon installation, but it does not appear to hurt the process to include them just in case it does work.

  • Inventory with sccm 2007

    Hello,
i have to make inventory with SCCM 2007.My boss asked me to collect important information (from hardwares and softwares) for both .The problem is that he didn't specify me whcih informations to collect. He just told me to do it seems like  i'm
the  the workstation infrastructure manager and asked myself which crucial informations i have to collect. For information,we have both laptops and desktops in our infrastructure. And we have two types of OS for our workstation:Windows XP and windows 7.
I really need help to know which crucial information do i have to collect.
Thank you in advance yor all your propositions.

You can refer this link for inventory : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693889.aspx
Later you can decide on the type of inventory.

  • SCCM 2007 Inventory of Printer, Scanner, E-Signature Pads, etc

Okay, I cannot seem to find any info on this anywhere and if it does exist it is ridiculously ambiguous or vague.
PLEASE tell me how can I go about inventorying printers, scanners and other devices such as e-signature pads via SCCM 2007?
I work in a healthcare environment and I NEED to get this information to the Asset Management Office.
I know that I can extend the SMS_DEF.mof file Win32_Printer class, which I will do, but how do I go about doing that for scanners and other devices like e-signature pads?
Would I use a NOIDMIF file? If so, what is the best tool to create one (MIFGEN)? After the creation of the MIF do I need to then save the ismif32.dll and ismifcom.dll files in their proper places for the MIF to be inventoried or are these two files
only used in conjunction with package deployments (software advertisements) for successful installs? Do I then create a script to keep creating the MIF?
Why is this soooooooo ridiculously convoluted when it shouldnt be?
    I need help please
    Thank you

The only classes I found that may be useful are win32_pnpentity, and\or win32_usbdevice. I'm leaning toward just using the RegKey to MOF tool and see if a unique location within the Registry can be identified for the devices and then add the data to SMS_DEF.mof
and Configuration.mof. I guess what I am trying to find out from this forum is can devices be identified on a computer system by manufacturer, model, etc. even if a generic driver is installed? Isn't the identity of the hardware device dependent on the driver
that's installed for the device, or can a device be identified just by being plugged in, somehow? Let's make this simple. If you were tasked by your employer to find out what computers in your organization had the following devices installed, how would you
go about doing it? By the way, assume all devices are USB. Also, I know I can use the Win32_Printer class and I already have that enabled in SMS_DEF.mof, but I'm just throwing in the printer below for good measure. The hypothetical devices are: Printer, Scanner,
and SigPad. As always, thanks for your help, I much appreciate it.

  • Hardware inventory for windows 8.1 SCCM 2007

I have SCCM 2007  primary site with SP2/R3 installed.
I have also installed KB for windows 8 and for windows 8.1
I only stood up two clients with windows 8.1. For one reason or another each time I try to get hardware inventory I get the following.
failed to retrieve the requested  schedule 80041002
    failed to send schedule 80041002.
The MP has received the software inventory and does process it  according to MP_SINv but Hardware fails.
I have reset the wmi repository recreated guid keys  standard wmi practices.  One of the bigger issues is the fact that wmidiag is not supported by windows 8.1 has any one ran into this issue?

It's actually silly I forgot to update my MOF update collection to include 2207 sccm client version. After the collection update and sms_def.mof and configuration.mof files got copied to user's computer hardware inventory ran as scheduled

  • Software Distribution & Patching Design Issues - Migration of Packages SCCM 2007 to Application or Conventional Packages in SCCM 2012

    Hi All
I am starting in discussion to deep root on Software Distribution & Patching model in large environments from SCCM 2007 migrating to SCCM 2012.
Below are certain assertions i am putting forward for your expert views or you may in a similar situation
1- I have migrated the packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 as conventional methods, now i am deploying them [ not migrated the advertisements and collections ], so while deploying i am facing a peculiar situation that the deployment when created is of the
name "<<Package name>>(program)". I am not able to rename the deployment for the conventional packages. is there a way out to that??
2- Will the collection queries work the same in SCCM 2012 as was in SCCM 2007??
3- In SCCM 2012 Primary site there is default role called Site System role in that there is tab for proxy settings. I have observed that if do not check the proxy tab there and punch in proxy IP and port then after some time in the WSUS server the update
source and proxy server tab the proxy option gets unchecked and hence the sync in software update point status appears failed. Is that anyone else also has observed !!!!!

  • SCCM 2007 R3 Software Updates Sync : 6703 WSUS server not configured

    Hi,
We run SCCM 2007 R3 in native mode (Software Update Point and WSUS both reside on SCCM site server). We're having issues running Software Updates Synchronization which have previously worked fine. In SMS_WSUS_Control_Manager the errors appear as follows
    MessageID:6703
    SMS WSUS Synchronization failed.
    Message: WSUS server not configured.
    Source: CWSyncMgr::DoSync.
The operating system reported error 2147500037: Unspecified error
I've followed the suggested fixes in
http://technet.micro...y/bb735874.aspx but still we have an issue.
If I open the WSUS console directly and run a manual synchronization from Microsoft this completes successfully. However, I presume this will not be using SSL which is what SCCM will want to use in native mode. I've checked the bindings in IIS on WSUS Administration
site to confirm that the certificate hasn't expired.
Any ideas what else I can try?
    Cheers,
    Paul

  • SCCM 2007 Hardware Inventory v_GS_VIRTUAL_MACHINE table missing the PhysicalHostName0 and PhysicalHostNameFullyQualifi0 Columns

    Hi All,
I went to run a query in SQL Management Studio the other day and realized that the
    v_GS_VIRTUAL_MACHINE table missing the PhysicalHostName0
    and PhysicalHostNameFullyQualifi0 Columns.
I reviewed the Configuration.mof and SMS_def.mof files and they seem fine. The Configuration.mof file has the below in it where it should be gathering the PhysicalHostName0 and PhysicalHostNameFullyQualifi0 parameters.
    // Virtual PC
    #pragma namespace ("\\\\.\\root\\cimv2")
    [DYNPROPS]
    class Win32Reg_SMSGuestVirtualMachine

        InstanceKey = "VPCKey";
        [PropertyContext("local|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Microsoft\\Virtual Machine\\Guest\\Parameters|PhysicalHostName"),

                        Dynamic, Provider("RegPropProv")]
            PhysicalHostNameFullyQualified;
I'm not really sure what to look at next and am hoping someone else has experienced this issue before.
I have looked at other customers running SCCM 2007 and compared the Configuration.mof and SMS_def.mof files, which look pretty much the same.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Andrew

Are they running on virtual pc or virtual server? Notice that I said virtual pc and virtual server, not Hyper-v. In CM12 this is fix and will show the physical server when running on Hyper-v.

  • SCCM 2007 R3 XP Embedded Software updates

I need to have a question answered. With Windows XP now being EOL and no updates coming through SCCM 2007, How will the Windows Embedded 2009 devices that are still supported by Microsoft going to receive their updates through SCCM? In the past they just
got updated with the other XP updates.
    Any help is appreciated

Windows Embedded is not end of life until January 8, 2019 so you should still be able to receive product updates for that software.
