SCCM 2012 and SQL 2008 R2 Sync problems

Hi
I installed 2 servers for SCCM 2012:
-1 with SCCM 2012, FEP, WSUS console admin
-1 with SQL Server 2008 R2 complete install, WSUS complete install
When I made or the system mades the synchronization, it shows this error in SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER:
Error 6703:

Message: Failed to sync some of the updates.
 Source: Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatesManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncUpdates.
And in the wsyncmgr.log appears:

Doc MX

Hi
Today I think I discovered what was the problem:
I used an user in the domain for deploying the role of SUP, but I forgot to put that user in the group of SQL Admins of the SQL Server.
I done that and after reseting the servers, the error for sync with SQL didn't appear again, al least from this morning until now, before this change every hour showed the error 6703.
Thanks to all for your comments.

  • SMS_SRS_REPORTING_POINT - Error retrieving folders with SCCM 2012 and SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2

    Hi:
According to all the Reporting Services logs my Reporting Point was setup correctly.  When I try and run any report I see the entries below in the srsrp.log on the SQL Server.  The report names show up in the Console but when I right any of the
listed reports I get errors and no report runs.
I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 on a remote server.  SQL is installed on its own server.  There is no firewall between the Configuration Manager server and SQL Server.
    Thanks.

  • SCCM 2012 and SQL Permissions

I have been questioned on one my SCCM implementations, the DBA wants me to revoke sysadmin rights for the site server account (SCCM computer account) as well the the SCCM install account on the SQL server currently hosting our Configmgr database.
    1.  What are the repercussions (operations, site backups and reporting level) if I revoke these rights after implementation?
    2.  What permissions does the site server computer object require if we are to revoke sysadmin rights?
    3.  Also could I get away with revoking local admin rights on the SQL server for our SCCM Site Server account?

First, it's called tongue in cheek humor. DBAs take themselves entirely too seriously -- case in point :-)
Second, you are not granting "someone" sysadmin rights, you are granting sysadmin rights to a computer account which is very secure and cannot be interactively logged into. The install user account needing sysadmin rights is only temporary. Security is about
managing risk, not absolute rules. Absolute rules leave systems unuseable and typically imply that the person applying them doesn't even know why they are applying them -- they are just blindly doing it. Giving your neighbor a key to your door also violates
the security standard of not giving anyone the keys to your house but you trust your neighbor and have other security pre-cautions in place so it's an acceptable risk. Just like giving a computer account sysadmin rights -- does it violate a core principal,
perhaps, does it lower your security posture, no. Will it cause the DBAs some additional paper work, perhaps (maybe I've hit on the real reason your so perturbed?)
Next, ConfigMgr is not sending an e-mail or simply using the database -- it is also monitoring that database, re-indexing it, backing it up, and in general managing its configuration and health as well as the server hosting it. No one is asking for permissions
on every SQL Server, just the one that ConfigMgr uses so your analogy is far out of proportion.
As for DBAs screwing up every ConfigMgr install -- sorry but this is fact. As mentioned, it's happened on *every* ConfigMgr project I've ever been on and everyone I know that implements ConfigMgr says the same thing. And why does this happen? Because the
DBAs blindly follow their own guidance instead of what we've asked of them.
As for ITIL, sorry, most people "say" they practice ITIL but ITIL is in fact unpracticable in the real world -- just like Robert's Rules of order it means everyone is more concern about how to fill out the proper paperwork instead of actually getting anything
done -- it's a theoretical set of concepts that are great in theory and have a lot of practical application. Split responsibilities are also good in theory, but always cause issues when there isn't communication and the right hand decides to apply its own
standards in a vacuum of reality and ignores the requests made of it by the left hand.
As for security, you are sadly misinformed and read too many industry rags with talking heads that spew garbage so that the uninformed can feel empowered. In the last handful of years, Microsoft and its products have been oft lauded and recognized as industry
leaders in security by all reputable security sources.
As for ConfigMgr (SCCM is the Society for Critical Care Medicine so if you wish to insult them, I suggest you go to their website) being "crappy", well that just sounds like Microsoft bashing and serves no real purpose.
If you wish Microsoft to change ConfigMgr's sysadmin requirements, I suggest you file a DCR on Connect. Be prepared to justify your suggestion with real-world business impact and real technical reasons and not just "I'm a DBA and I say so" and "ConfigMgr
    is crappy".

  • It is compatible Obi 11g  with Windows Server  2012 and Sql Server 2012?

    Hi every
    Please help with two questions.
    1. - Obi 11g is supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012?
There a compatibility matrix which mention compatibility with versions 2012?
    2. - is feasible to install Obi 11g in separate server and install weblogic on another server?
    I appreciate the prompt response
    Regards
    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,
As of November 2012 Compatibility Matrix released by Oracle for OBI 11.1.1.x Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 were not supported. It was supported on 2008 Windows and SQL Server.
We can have weblogic and OBI server's on 2 different machines. The approach is to opt software only install. the link below will give more details:

Let me know if this helped.

  • EVGET in BPC 7 MS and SQL 2008

Have there been any change in how evget works in BPC 7 MS with SQL 2008 compared with BPC 5,1 and SQL 2005?
When I use EVGET in BPC 5.1 and SQL 2005 I always get RFN# when the cell with EVGET isn't updated.
But now when I'm trying BPC 7 and SQL 2008 I get i zero (0) when cell isn't updated. And some times I get another value that isn't the right value for that specific EVGET formula, seems like the system has an old value in memory thats shows, but when I update the, right value shows up in the cell.
This can be a bit confusing and even worse, in some of our reports the wrong value isn't updated when report is refreshed.
Anyone with the same problem or anyone who know if there are any changes made how the data is refreshed in EVGET formulas

  • In place upgrade Windows 2008 and SQL 2008

    Hi all,
We are planning to upgrade to Windows 2012 and SQL 2012 , can we take this in-place upgrade path in the following order ?
    Setup 1 Host with 2 VM's running Windows 2008 R2 on Host and Windows 2008 R2/sqL 2008 on VM's.
    1. Host1(running 2 VM's) - In-place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to windows 2012 R2
    2. VM1 on host1 - In place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2
    3. VM2 on host1 - In place upgrade windows 2008 R2 to Windows 2012 R2 (AD Server)
    4. SQL running VM1 - In place upgrade SQL 2008 with DB/reporting services to SQL 2012 DB/reporting services
All Servers ( including Host and VM's) are stand alone in a workgroup setup.( except one VM a stand alone AD server by itself).
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
If you want migrate from windows 2008r2 to windows 2012r2, you must install windows server 2008r2 sp1.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn303416.aspx
For the host 1 upgrade, please refer to the following:
    http://blog.powerbiz.net.au/server-2012/in-place-upgrade-from-windows-server-2008-r2-to-windows-server-2012/
For the SQL in-place upgrade, i think you may need to ask in SQL forums:

The release notes for BPC 7.5M SP04 state that support has been added for both Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2.
For SQL 2008 R2, there is nothing in the feature pack described as "SQL 2005 Backward Compatibility Components" - which was a required piece for  BPC 7/7.5 on SQL 2008. Is the SQL 2008 version still a requirement, or does BPC 7.5 now not need the Backward Compatibility components?
Also, the ReprotViewer executable that is packaged with BPC 7.5 is the one for SQL 2008- will that work when installing SQL 2008 R2?

  • Database instance for SCCM 2012 and WSUS on a single primary site server

I am going to install SCCM 2012 and its SQL database on a single physical server. This is going to be a single primary site server. The default SQL instance will be dedicated to SCCM 2012 with no other named instances to be added on the SQL server down
    the road.
During the WSUS server role installation, there is the Database Options page asking for using (1) Windows Internal Database, (2) existing db server on this computer, or (3) an external db server.
Since SCCM 2012 doesn't share db instance with others, how should I handle the WSUS db that's going to be hosted on the same SCCM/SQL physical server? Do I really need to create a separate SQL instance just for the WSUS db?
    Thanks and regards.

Even though you can do it, it is the best practice to have SCCM 2012 and WSUS installed on separate instances.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh692394
When the Configuration Manager and WSUS databases use the same SQL Server and share the same instance of SQL Server, you cannot easily determine the resource usage between the two applications. When you use a different SQL Server instance
for Configuration Manager and WSUS, it is easier to troubleshoot and diagnose resource usage issues that might occur for each application.

Does SAP Business one support windows 2008 and sql 2008 platforms?
When i checked the partner portal it says that these platforms are not supported. Is there any update?

    Hello Louis,
The only way to determine this is via the supported platforms page in the portal. This is the most up to date, and will include information for the future when this data is available. So for not I would only plan with what information is available.

    BP numbers but nothing further
I then brought him to another server with the same configuration , same result
He then tried it on one of his own servers with similar config = same result

  • SAP R3 4.5b running on Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2

    Hi
Trying to obtain information on compatability of SAP R3 4.5b running on Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2 ?
I understand that SAP may not support this? But would it actually work? Assuming we have a third party supporting it?
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
You may check the support in PAM http://service.sap.com/pam.
Ideally SAP shall not support this environment.
    Reason being:
    1) SAP kernel for R3 4.5b not available for windows 2008 R2
    2) Compatible database library not available for R3 4.5b on MSSQL 2008 R2.
with above 2 reason you shall not be able to install R3 4.5b on Windows 2008R2 with MSSQL 2008 R2 database.

  • SCCM 2012 and Reverbed appliances

There is a requirement to have the Riverbed WAN acceleration appliances installed instead of Distribution Points.
For the fresh setup of SCCM 2012 that we are working at the moment. The initial proposal was with one Primary Site Server and number of distribution points
however client wants to go with the Reverbed appliances and not to use distribution points.
Would like to know and get the confirmation from Microsoft that if Reverbed appliances are supported fully with SCCM 2012 and if any recommendations on this.
    Thanks.
    Gurudatt

    Hi,
If you want an offical answer from Microsoft if it is supported and recommended you should really open a support case or perhaps an advisory case with Microsoft Support. You will not get an offical statement here and for Microsoft to fully support it would
mean that they would have tested it as well.
There are some information regarding that it will work on riverbeds page

  • SCCM 2012 and collection settings

    Hi all,
    I am migrating SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3.
All my 1200 collections are migrated to SCCM 2012 and the incremental option is enabled on most of my collections (about 1100).
Now I found out that my collections are updating very very slow.....
I read an article that best practice is to enable a maximum of 200 collections with the incremental option.
So i ran a powershell script to disable this option on my collections....
Now it seems that collection updates are faster again...
Do I need to disable the incremental option on all collections and enable the schedule full update eg. very 30 minutes ?
I hope someone could share his experience with this....

I ran this test this weekend since it has been a while since I have do this. Short version, yes I’m getting confused between CM07 and CM12. CM07 this work perfectly for User and PCs. In CM12 this only work perfectly for Users. If you want
to make this work for PC you need to do the following.
    PC
Add the PC to the Security Group.
Wait of the Security group to replicate to the PC’s local DCS.
    Reboot the PCs
Wait for the Discovery Data(DD)  collection Cycle to occur, (default is every 7 days), However I recommend making this daily and in some cases hourly.
Once the DD data is in the CM12 db. You need to wait for the Collection to update (default is every 7 days)
Then you need to wait for the PC to retrieve it’s Machine policies. (~1 hour)
    User:
Add the User to the Security Group.
Wait of the Security group to replicate to the PC’s local DCS.
Logon to the PC. With newer OS , just unlocking the PC will
     do the trick.
Then you need to wait for the User Polices to retrieved.(~1 hour)
