Hi Jason
I got the client in my sccm console right now at least.
The Client certificate is PKI and Connection type is Always Internet, so far so good.
But under Actions tab I only have Machine Policy Retrieval & Evalutation Cycle and User Policy Retrieval & Evalutation. I was to fast, everthing is there now.
Thanks alot for your support Jason, I have used your startup script several times.
Best regards

  • SCCM 2012 and Reverbed appliances

There is a requirement to have the Riverbed WAN acceleration appliances installed instead of Distribution Points.
For the fresh setup of SCCM 2012 that we are working at the moment. The initial proposal was with one Primary Site Server and number of distribution points
however client wants to go with the Reverbed appliances and not to use distribution points.
Would like to know and get the confirmation from Microsoft that if Reverbed appliances are supported fully with SCCM 2012 and if any recommendations on this.
    Thanks.
    Gurudatt

    Hi,
If you want an offical answer from Microsoft if it is supported and recommended you should really open a support case or perhaps an advisory case with Microsoft Support. You will not get an offical statement here and for Microsoft to fully support it would
mean that they would have tested it as well.
There are some information regarding that it will work on riverbeds page

  • New SCCM 2012 client machines still getting SCCM 2012 SP1 client not the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client

    Hi,
I've successfully (as far as I can tell) deployed SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 and all my existing clients are showing a client version of 5.00.7804.1400.  But when I setup a new client system recently I noticed that the client version was showing 5.00.7804.1000,
    and not 5.00.7804.1400.
For new client systems, do I need to redeploy the packages that were created for SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 so that the new systems get the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
Here's some good information to look over:
    http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/09/24/sccm-2012-include-cu-in-osd/
I haven't followed these instructions myself, since I haven't really had any good reason to include CUs during the initial installation process. I use this method instead and I've never run into any problems:

  • Database instance for SCCM 2012 and WSUS on a single primary site server

I am going to install SCCM 2012 and its SQL database on a single physical server. This is going to be a single primary site server. The default SQL instance will be dedicated to SCCM 2012 with no other named instances to be added on the SQL server down
    the road.
During the WSUS server role installation, there is the Database Options page asking for using (1) Windows Internal Database, (2) existing db server on this computer, or (3) an external db server.
Since SCCM 2012 doesn't share db instance with others, how should I handle the WSUS db that's going to be hosted on the same SCCM/SQL physical server? Do I really need to create a separate SQL instance just for the WSUS db?
    Thanks and regards.

Even though you can do it, it is the best practice to have SCCM 2012 and WSUS installed on separate instances.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh692394
When the Configuration Manager and WSUS databases use the same SQL Server and share the same instance of SQL Server, you cannot easily determine the resource usage between the two applications. When you use a different SQL Server instance
for Configuration Manager and WSUS, it is easier to troubleshoot and diagnose resource usage issues that might occur for each application.

  • OS-Deployment to virtual servers with SCVMM 2012 R2 vs SCCM 2012 R2 or integration with both?

    Hi,
OS-Deployment to virtual servers with SCVMM 2012 R2 vs SCCM 2012 R2 or integration with both?
Is SCCM just for physical servers, and SCVMM for virtual?
What are benefits of integrating them?

  • SCCM 2012 and collection settings

    Hi all,
    I am migrating SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3.
All my 1200 collections are migrated to SCCM 2012 and the incremental option is enabled on most of my collections (about 1100).
Now I found out that my collections are updating very very slow.....
I read an article that best practice is to enable a maximum of 200 collections with the incremental option.
So i ran a powershell script to disable this option on my collections....
Now it seems that collection updates are faster again...
Do I need to disable the incremental option on all collections and enable the schedule full update eg. very 30 minutes ?
I hope someone could share his experience with this....

I ran this test this weekend since it has been a while since I have do this. Short version, yes I’m getting confused between CM07 and CM12. CM07 this work perfectly for User and PCs. In CM12 this only work perfectly for Users. If you want
to make this work for PC you need to do the following.
    PC
Add the PC to the Security Group.
Wait of the Security group to replicate to the PC’s local DCS.
    Reboot the PCs
Wait for the Discovery Data(DD)  collection Cycle to occur, (default is every 7 days), However I recommend making this daily and in some cases hourly.
Once the DD data is in the CM12 db. You need to wait for the Collection to update (default is every 7 days)
Then you need to wait for the PC to retrieve it’s Machine policies. (~1 hour)
    User:
Add the User to the Security Group.
Wait of the Security group to replicate to the PC’s local DCS.
Logon to the PC. With newer OS , just unlocking the PC will
     do the trick.
Then you need to wait for the User Polices to retrieved.(~1 hour)

  • SCCM 2012 and 2012 sp1 client cache not cleaning itself

I work on a University campus that deploys 100's of software titles to lab computers.  Since last summer, we have been using Config Man 2012 and upgraded to 2012 SP1 in early Jan.  Recently we started noticing 160GB hard drives filling up in locations
that get most of our software.  When looking into it, the ccmcache folder has 50GB+ of data in it even though the cache size is set to 30GB.  I looked at the folders in the cache and many of them are from last summer when the apps were first
downloaded and installed.  NONE of these apps are set to persist.  My understanding is that they should have been cleaned up automatically after 24 hours as space was needed.  Either way, shouldn't the cache folder be at or smaller than the
    cache size setting?
I have talked to others that have seen similar problems with 2012 of the cache folder growing beyond the max, but they don't have the software load that we do, so they are not filling their drives.  If I manually tell Confi Man client to delete the
cache files, I free up 50GB or more, but manual intervention isn't a great option.
Any ideas on where to troubleshoot this issue or what settings might be messed up that allows for this?
    Thanks

How much of this is software updates?  Like in 2007 software updates are not counted against the cache size:
"You can configure the location and amount of disk space that Windows Configuration Manager clients use to store temporary files for when they install applications and programs. Software updates also use the client cache, but software updates
are not restricted by the configured cache size and will always attempt to download to the cache"

  • SCCM 2012 report on computers with local shares and share permissions

Very new to SCCM 2012, want to put together a report to show computers with local shares and the permissions on those shares (for security purposes, need to investigate any systems that have open shares_.
Managed to add and now collecting information that populates v_gs_share and I have a handle on the report itself, just wondering how to collect the share permissions - I've seen other qustions on the boards that are similar but reference earlier versions
of SCCM so wondering how to do it in 2012.
    Thanks

So, where are you at?  The script is running, and the clients have the data in their local WMI namespace, root\cimv2\sms_sharepermissions ?
So all that's left is to modify hardware inventory to pull that custom WMI Namespace in?  If so, it's not too horrid.  Take note of a workstation (or server) to which you have remote rights to; and which has run the script, so that on THAT specific
    machine, root\cimv2\SMS_SharePermissions exists.
In your CM12 Console, Administration, Client Settings.  Right-click "Default Client Settings", Properties.  On the left, select "hardware inventory".  then on the right, Set classes..., now the fun part.
    Add...
Connect..., and put in ThatServerOrWorkstation (for computername), and wmi namespace is root\cimv2.  Click the option "recursive", Connect.  (the trick here is rights to the target).
From the results, it might be easiest to click on "classname" at the top for sorting, then go find SMS_SharePermissions.  Select that, ok ok ok ok (however many times you need to agree); and... we're done here.  Sit and wait for inventory to report
that data up.  If you're paranoid, you can monitor dataldr.log; and force policy refreshes and hinv deltas on some boxes; but the key is patience.  if you think you've waited long enough; you probably haven't.  ;)
    Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

  • In SCCM 2012 if it integrates with 1E Nomad SCCM 2012 nomad how many clients it can handle

    Hi All
Its about SCCM 2012 R2 with NOmad , we have around 300 and 500 users in WAN link remote locations ,if we use NOMAD
it will handle more then 300 user in a remote location

Thanks for the question. The quick answer is it will work JUST fine for any SW Dist scenario you throw at it... the better answer is it will also depend on which version of Nomad you are using. Our current version is instrumented to handle VERY large remote
offices across the WAN. Features like FanOut will dramatically improve performance with a large number of systems on a single subnet (on the order of 1,000's). Single Site Download further scales it out to having a scenario like a remote office with many thousands
of systems, like an office building or site with many subnets there, each with many clients per subnet. You can manage that scenario easily with just a single instance of the content being downloaded and then replicated throughout the building/site very rapidly
by a single Nomad master machine.
Feel free to reach out to me directly (Ed.Aldrich AT 1e.com) if you wish to know more, or take a look at
http://www.1e.com/nomad/ for a public facing look at all the usual sort of material and info.

  • Outlook 2007 randomly installed on some computers - Infrastructure with SCCM 2012 and 2007 concurrently running

    Hello,
I have an issue which is very odd. I have no packages with Office 2007 in CM2012 and in CM2007 I have an advertisement dated back to 2011 which was never expired. This morning I have some clients submitting tickets in relates to issues where Office 2007
randomly pops in on WinXP OS and Office 2010 pops in on Win7 computers even though we are using Office 2013(some didn't have any Office as they are critical computers). Almost all the clients are in CM2012 and management points pointing to CM12 however in
one of the logs we did notice it picking up some data from a distribution point that belongs to CM12 but can't seem to understand how a package that doesn't even exist in CM12 can be deployed randomly to these few computers.
    Any help would be appriciated.

    After, I configure the site:
then, the workgroup client was OK communicating with SCCM server.
But, the client cannot be installed at domain joined PCs, with the error: "Source \\sccm-vm\SMSClient is inaccessible (67)", at the SCCM server the SMSClient share does not exist.
    The questions are:
Is it possible manage domain joined, workgroup and Internet PCs using only one SCCM server?
a second server must be installed(MP/DP)?
if only one server can manage all of the PCs, what is the correct configuration for SCCM?
    Thanks in advance!

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Migration - Clients being lost

I am in the process of migrating SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 R2.  I had about 11 clients that all were working successfully for about a week.  As of yesterday all are reporting as Client "No", client type "None" but with the site
code of the 2012 R2 server.  If I check the clientlocation log file of one of the clients, I don't see it reporting to the old SCCM server or anything like that.  SCEP definitions are still deploying successfully, however I can't deploy any packages
    to any of the devices.
Any ideas where I should start looking?
    * Edit: A software updates deployment I just made started and is asking for a reboot.  However my client in SCCM still shows Client as No, Client type as  None.  Also, there is no information listed for Policy Request, Heartbeat DDR, Hardware
Scan, Software Scan, Management Point, etc.  This information was there as of yesterday morning.

I think I figured this out.  I had the 'Clear Install Flag' maintenance task set to run every Tuesday/Wednesday/Sunday between 12AM and 5AM for anything without a heartbeat within the last 4 days.  Heartbeat Discovery was configured to only run
once a week.  I think it just ended up clearing the install flag on my test clients.

  • SCCM 2012 Secondary site Client Communication for SUP

     Hi,
We have an SCCM 2012 Setup and here is the design CAS-->Primary-->Secondary site servers.
SUP is configured for Secondary site too. Boundaries are defined with IP Address Range and is proper.
Some clients are comminicating to Secondary site for updates. Downloading successfully and installing the software.
But some of the clients are communicating to primary site for updates and retain with the status "Downloading update"
I have checked the locationservices.log and it is fluctuating between Primary and secondary MP.

my query is how some of the clients are communicating primary site server for updates even though the boundary details are properly configured and Secondary site is configured with sup. Also need to know (as per the log "DataTransferService.log")how
come the clients are communicating SSL port for updates. Plz help in resolving the issue.

    Hi Kent,
    Thanks for the reply.
Primary and secondary sites are connected over WAN and we have around 2000 clients which are reporting to Secondary site.
Considering the WAN bandwidth utiliztaion and number of clients on secondary site we have configured the SUP role.
Not all the clients are with the above error message around 40%-50% of the clients are with above stated error message.
Plz let me know what is the error message indicates and do we need to reffer any other logs for indepth analysis.
    Locationservices.log is with fluctuating connectivity
