Hi,
I am trying to deploy appv client from SCCM 2012 sp1 console. But is there any way I can change the default cache location to d driver. Is it possible from SCCM console it self.

I'm assuming that you are talking about the App-V cache and not the ConfigMgr cache?
If so, sure, you just have to set the proper property on the install command-line of the App-V client which should be PACKAGEINSTALLATIONROOT.

in sccm 2012 dp installation , where to define drives
Hi Torsen
i am facing one issue while removing DP role from site server as it was taking default drives i wanted
to customised them so i tried reinstalling but it is still taking same drive not the drives i have given at the time of installation. I have given now E and D drive but still its taking c drive which was previous installtion drive. -
SCCM 2012 R2 Installation with Remote SQL Instance
I am trying to install SCCM 2012 R2 and during the install it asks for your SQL Server Name. I have a remote SQL Server which I can ping all day but the installation is telling me "The network path was not found". I turned the firewall
off on the SQL Server and the install proceeded to the next step so that told me it was a firewall issue.
On my SQL Server I opened the following ports but still the install doesn't get through until I completely disable the firewall.
TCP and UDP 1434
TCP and UDP 1433
80
443
TCP and UDP 135
TCP and UDP 2383
TCP and UDP 2382
TCP and UDP 4022
I know this is a little excessive but its ports I've seen suggestions for to open but I'm out of ideas. I even tried suggestions from earlier posts by Jason Sandy's to setspn and I've verified it is correct with setspn -L but still nothing. Any
suggestions on what ports are needed during install? As mentioned, firewall off it works great but as soon as firewall is turned on (even with ports open above) I get no where.

(not even a 0) in TCP Dynamic Ports and the TCP port is specified as 1433 for all those. I even made ODBC connections that "tested successfully" to the remote sql server. I'm just confused.
I tried netstat and didn't get any viable results but maybe i'm missing a switch. With firewall on or off during installation it was making established connections to ports 49320, 49321, 49322, 49323, 49254, 49278, 49302, 49220, 49223, 49224,
49259, 49262, 49263, 49295, 49304, 49332, 49154 and so on. Obviously I don't think these are relevant and just normal chatter between the two servers. Its on a VM so i snapshotted the SQL and CM box before the install so I'm able to revert back
(or even reload both boxes if necessary). I'm going to try a few more things but any more suggestions are more than welcome.

SCCM 2012 client installation - Deploy to an AD Group
Hi, I have been deploying Configuration Manager Client Package as an application.I would like to re-target the client to an AD Group of machines. There is a group of machines which are in the correct Boundaries, correct local settings etc but the client
did not install through the automatic install process (When i right click and Deploy, the client installs ok - I am looking to why)
How do i copy/edit the Configuration Manager Client Package as an application to an AD Group which i have created? I am unable to do this. Any assistance would be great.

ThanksTo deploy a package or application in ConfigMgr to a target system, it must first have the client agent installed and running. Thus, your premise makes no sense. Until a system has a client agent on it, you can't do anything to it via ConfigMgr.
You can however install the client agent to a system or set of systems using a variety of methods. Client push is built in and is generally the defacto choice. If you wish to push to a subset of the systems in your environment, simply create a collection
containing those systems (using either direct membership or query based membership rules) and then right-click that collection and choose Install Client.

Hi all,
I am trying to deploy SCCM 2012 client to my office computers using client push installation wizard, however when I random check the log file on client computers, the wizard did not start at all. Anyone know why this happen?
Anyway I can trigger the installation wizard for the clients?

SCCM 2012 package installation with reboot supress

In our customer environment we manage workstations with SCCM 2012 for patching and software deployments. However, I want to do SCCM pacakge deployment with reboot suppress and notification option as like how we do it for Patch deployment. Can some
one help me how to achieve this.

Just saw that the question is for SCCM 2012, it is not the correct forum, however.
Reboot supression after applications installations i controled by the exit code the installation command returns. If it returns for instance exit code 3010 = soft reboot then the sccm client will initiate a reboot accourding to the reboot
client settings. If you cannot control the exit code, running the script through a wrapper, like a vbscript, powersehll or commandline that returns error code 0 instead is a workaround often used as well.
If you want to initiate a reboot you can do that under "after running" there you can configure that sccm should restart the client.

I need to upgrade the silverlight version that is deployed with the SCCM 2012 client installation
We have SCCM 2012 SP1 installed and I need to upgrade the version of silverlight that get installed on the client deployement.
The version that is automaticly deployed is 5.1.10411.0 and this one is not compatible with Firefox. When you click on Application Catalog it start the browser but it fails to load because of the silverlight plug-in that is not up to date. The
version that is working fine is the 5.1.20913.0 and it's already installed on my SCCM site server.
So that is why I'm looking to upgrade the silverlight that is installed with the SCCM client.
I know that a simple workarround would be to create a package that would be deployed after the client gets installed, but why not changing the original package at the source instead of installing twice the same software the get the right version!
Is there someone that could point me where I could upgrade this Silverlight prerequirement software version ?Note that I have not tested either of these and they will not be supported by Microsoft.

I hope the appv packages can be Unpublished from SCCM console for entire client. Is there a way i can unpublish for a specific clients or collection alone or do i need to create a separate uninstall packages. Please advice
Regards, PratapYou just create a deployment to a collection and choose a required uninstall. Note that if a publish rule is still applied to a client or user for the same package elsewhere then this will win in the install/uninstall battle.

SCCM 2012 – Client Installation properties - client cache size
Hi,
I'm setting the command line options for the client push install and taking into account the default client cache size is 5120MB. But my concern is a lot our servers and some workstations don't have enough free disk space for this.
So I was going to set the cache size to only use a certain percentage, say 10% for example:
SMSSITECODE=xxx SMSCACHEFLAGS=PERCENTDISKSPACE;NTFSONLY SMSCACHESIZE=10 SMSMP=FQDN-MP FSP=FQDN-FSP
So does it allocate 10% of the total hard disk size or 10% of the free disk space available?
ThanksAs Torsten noted, this isn't an allocation or reservation of disk space. It's a maximum size that the ConfigMgr agent will allow the cache to grow to. If the servers don't have enough free space, the ConfigMgr agent won't stop or block or cause any
failures until it actually needs to use that space.
However, if you honestly have servers and workstations that don't have 5GB of free disk space, you've got much, much bigger problems.

SCCM 2012 Client - Manual Installation Error

I am trying to install SCCM client manually on few of the machines that have Windows 7 OS. The installation is failing with the below error:
Failed to get client version for sending messages to FSP. Error 0x8004100e
BITS job creation failed with 80200014. Unable to check BITS version
This Operating System does not contain the correct version of BITS. BITS 2.5 or later is required.

But Windows 7 comes with BITS 4.0 version. Below is the command I ran to install the client:

Slipstreaming CU3 during first installation of SCCM 2012 R2

I am working on automating a SCCM 2012 R2 installation. During a scripted installation using Powershell I want to install CU3. What I want to know is, can I install CU3 with the same command line I use to install SCCM?
For example:
Setup.exe /Script C:\MyInstallScript.ini Patch=Z:\CU3.exe
or
Start-Process "Z:\SetUp.exe" -ArgumentList "/Script C:\MyInstallScript.ini /Patch= Z:\CU3.exe"
If this is not possible can I install CU3 in the same Powershel script I use to Install SCCM 2012 R2? For example:
Start-Process "Z:\SetUp.exe" -ArgumentList "/Script C:\MyInstallScript.ini" -Wait
Start-Process "Z:\CU3.exe" -ArgumentList "/Quiet" -Wait

SCCM 2012 SP1 - Software Center appears twice in Start Menu
Hi guys,
i just finished implementing a fresh SCCM 2012 SP1 Installation for a customer. The whole OSD works like a charm (except some issues with the latest Windows updates breaking the whole OSD, will open a separate thread for this soon), but after the deployment
the Software Center is appearing twice in the Start Menu (We're using Win7 Enterprise SP1 x86 English with 5 integrated language packs). I first thought this has something to do with the integrated language packs, but both Start Menu entries
are always in the same language.
The strange Thing is, that one entry for the SCCM Software Center is called "Software Center" and the other one "SoftwareCenter" (without a space). We configured 2 Client policies, one with EP-enabled and one without EP. We
deployed the Client Settings to different collections so i don't think that this is causing the Problem?Do you guys have any idea why this is Happening?
Has anyone ever seen this? See a screenshot below:

I don't think it is related to the upgrade to SP1.I think it might be a General issue in SP1. I started with a fresh SCCM 2012 SP1 Installation and i also have 2 Software Center entries in my start menu. If i check the shortcut i can see that one shortcut
was created when i captured my base Image, the other one was created during the Install OS Task Sequence. -

There are a lot of sub-folders in the http://CentralSiteSCCM/ReportServer. They are like:
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.0
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.1
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.10
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.100
<dir> Config_Mgr_CEN.OLD.1000
Only <dir> Config_Mgr_CEN is properly populated with the correct set of the default folders.
Would you be so kind to advise on:
What are they?
How to remove them?
What to do in order for them not to appear any more?

I ran into an issue when I did the SP1 upgrade where a majority of our reports were duplicated. I created a script to delete these duplicate reports and I've adjusted it to work for your situation. You can find the original thread here, if you're interested:
