SCCM 2012 complains about WSUS version

Our SCCM 2012SP1 cannot communicate with the newly installed WSUS 6.2.
They're both on Server 2012.  Is there any special patch to install on WSUS 6.2 to get it to work?
We've changed the default port to port 80/443.

After installing the admin console on site server, software updates in software library started to show up.  v(^.^)
However, I am still getting error messages all over the place.
I have not tried to uninstall/reinstall WSUS 6.2 yet; that would be the last thing I try.
From SMS_WSUS_SYNC_MANAGER:
 WSUS Synchronization failed.
Message: Failed to sync some of the updates.
 Source: Microsoft.SystemsManagementServer.SoftwareUpdatesManagement.WsusSyncAction.WSyncAction.SyncUpdates.
This is from SMS_WSUS_CONTROL_MANAGER:
WSUS Control Manager failed to configure proxy settings on WSUS Server "CTB-WSUS.CHINATRUST.CORP".
Possible cause: WSUS Server version 3.0 SP2 or above is not installed or cannot be contacted.
Solution: Verify that the WSUS Server version 3.0 SP2 or greater is installed. Verify that the IIS ports configured in the site are same as those configured on the WSUS IIS website. You can receive failure because proxy is set but proxy name is not specified
or proxy server port is invalid.
I confirmed that the SCCM default site and WSUS's Administration site are both using port 80.

  • No sccm 2012 r2 in wsus product list

SCCM 2012 R2 standalone site server setup on a server 2012 r2 with local wsus server installed.
When configure SUP, in the product list I can see sms2003 and sccm2007 up to sccm 2012 sp1, but can't find sccm 2012 r2 nor other system center 2012 r2 components. Is this correct or I missed something?

    Hi,
    You are correct, in addtion:
To update  system center configurtation manager site, before instaling it is always reomended to read the associated KB article and process of updating the envionrment, the options are:
A cumulative update , which provides a set of multiple updates for the current product version. When yinstalling a cumulative update for Configuration Manager on a site server, it installs and runs an update bundle. Update bundles can run on a central
administration site server, a primary site server, a secondary site server, or a computer that runs an instance of the SMS Provider
Or A Service pack, which is a new version of the product

  • Cannot publish Flash Updates Verification of file signature failed for file SCUP 2011, SCCM 2012 R2 and WSUS all on same Windows Server 2012 machine

I am attempting to distribute Adobe Flash updates using SCUP 2011, SCCM 2012 R2, WSUS ver4 and Windows Server 2012.  Everything installs without error.  I have acquired a certificate for SCUP signing from the internal Enterprise CA.  I have
verified the signing certificate has a 1024 bit key.  I have imported the certificate into the server's Trusted Publishers and Trusted Root CA stores for the computer.  When I attempt to publish a Flash update with Full content I receive the following
    error:
2015-02-13 23:00:48.724 UTC Error Scup2011.21 Publisher.PublishPackage PublishPackage(): Operation Failed with Error: Verification of file signature failed for file:

I have redone the certificates three times with no luck.  I can import metadata, but any attempt to download content results in the verification error.
    TIA

    Hi Joyce,
This is embarrassing, I used that very post as my guide when deploying my certificate templates, but failed to change the bit length to 2048.  Thank you for being my second set of eyes.
I changed my certificate key bit length to 2048, deleted the old cert from all certificate stores, acquired the a new signing cert, verified the key length was 2048, exported the new cert to pfx and cer files, imported into my Trusted publishers
and Trusted Root Authorities stores, reconfigured SCUP to use the new pfx file, rebooted the server and attempted to re-publish the updates with the following results:
2015-02-16 13:35:44.006 UTC Error Scup2011.4 Publisher.PublishPackage PublishPackage(): Operation Failed with Error: Verification of file signature failed for file:

Is there a chance this content was already created and signed with the old cert, so installing the new cert has no effect?  In ConfigMgr software updates I see 4 Flash updates, all marked Metadata Only (because they were originally published as "Automatic."
No Flash updates in the ConfigMgr console are marked as downloaded.  I can't find any documentation on how the process of using SCUP for downloading content for an update marked Metadata Only actually works.
    Comments and suggestions welcome.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 and WSUS

I have an existing server with WSUS installed and running on it.  I just build a new SCCM 2012 R2 server.  Is it possible to use the WSUS server with my SCCM setup.  If so any documentation on how to make this work?  Thanks.

It's better not to use an existing working WSUS. You should install WSUS again and let ConfigMgr configure it (locally is good).
This is how you do it

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 - WSUS Sync issues

    *EDIT/Update*
I had incorrectly diagnosed this as an issue with CU4. The issue was in fact between Microsoft and WSUS.
The method listed in this thread ended up working for me.
Here is an official KB article for the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3058255?wa=wsignin1.0
(I have a small environment - only 1 SCCM server [primary] and 200 servers managed)
I upgraded from CU3 to CU4 last week and I cannot get my WSUS to sync all of the updates for April 2015. I also upgraded my test server and it is syncing fine.
I did some digging yesterday and found out that even tho the site server upgraded (I only have one SCCM server), the SQL update failed because I did not have proper permissions. I've since had a DBA run the update.sql file included with the CU (found at:
    %Program Files%\Microsoft Configuration Manager\hotfix\KB3026739)
I restarted my SCCM server again this morning and tried running multiple syncs with Microsoft and it is still pulling in nothing.
I am not getting any errors in WSUS, wsyncmgr.log, WCM.log, or the change.log for wsus. Everything just looks like it attempted to sync - found nothing - then ended the sync successfully.
I had one of the networking guys look at the firewall and he says its getting thru and establishing a connection - but it looks like MS is terminating the connection? I cannot see anything that would indicate this in my logs. Here is what he sent me: http://i.imgur.com/znOvxEN.jpg
Now, to make things even more interesting. In the many many attempts I have made over to the last two days to get SCCM/WSUS to sync April's updates, it has worked in small amounts.... it once expired 16 updates and another time pulled in 2 updates released
on 4/15/15 (but only 2!). I have my sync settings set up exactly like my test server which, again, is working fine.
As always, any help is appreciated!

sounds like there might be a bigger issue with WSUS and Microsoft?

  • SCCM 2012 R2- update different versions of adobe reader

Planning to push the most current adobe reader to several users.
The problem is different versions of older adobe reader is already installed on the machines.
So my question is how do I go about removing the older versions from the machines and install the most current one?
If I have to create a package for each adobe version, that would be very tedious. Please let me know if there is any other way.
    thanks

If you use Adobe's Customation Wizard and configure to remove all versions, I have found that this does this reasonably well. Most of our clients only had one version of Reader installed, however, so not sure how well it would if multiple versions are installed.
The 11.x reader, however, upgraded 9.x and 10.x systems without issue. I used the full package because we had various instances of "slipstreamed" update installs and using the .MSP method would fail in these scenarios. Using the full package ensured
everyone had the exact same version and configuration once upgraded. Going forward, I can continue to use the full package method or simply deploy the .MSP.
We have the base 11.x .exe version extracted. We use the wizard to create the .mst. The setup.ini is configured with our command line and patch switches so we don't need to use any when setup.exe is run:
    [Startup]
    RequireMSI=3.0
    CmdLine=/sPB /rs
    [Product]
    msi=AcroRead.msi
    CmdLine=TRANSFORMS="AcroRead.mst"
    PATCH=AdbeRdrUpd11010.msp
The .msp file is copied into the extracted folder, which should like this:
    ABCPY.INI
    AcroRead.msi
    AcroRead.mst
    AdbeRdrUpd11010.msp
    Data1.cab
    setup.exe
    Setup.ini
You should be able to run setup.exe without any switches. Otherwise, you can do a batch file with removal commands for all other versions and then run the setup.exe. As suggested, the PowerShell App Deploy Kit works well for this also.

  • SCCM 2012 and VM Additions version report

We manage thousands of virtual servers globally - 99% are all Hyper-V VM's and running the latest configuration manager agent.
I am interested in getting Configuration Manager to show VM Additions version number for each one of these  servers. This way I can use the information to create reports and also upgrade the ones running older version by creating intelligent collections.
I suspect this needs to be added manually, but before doing so I would like to double check and see what the easiest way to do this. In the past, I have used tools such as RegKeyToMOF.
Is this still the case or are there a better way?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    >>Is this still the case?
Yes, you could use hardware inventory to collect the version number. PowerShell also can collect this.
Using PowerShell to check Integration Services versions

  • Disable Automatically Deleted Updates Download on SCCM 2012 with WSUS

    Hi
I have SCCM 2012 SP1 with WSUS integrated, both are on the same server, I created a structure where I downloaded the updates:
    D:\Wsus\HotfixWinX
D:\Wsus = The folder where I installed the WSUS role
HotfixWinX = The folder where I downloaded the hotfix
When I run "Synchronize Software Updates" the updates downloaded with a time of old age are eliminated automatically, have reviewed the log wsyncmgr and I found this:
My question is, how can I prevent updates and updates folders to be automatically deleted?
    Thank you.

This is a fully automated process that only works for expired updates. Do keep in mind that after this specific message the updates still exist in the console. For a very good complete explanation, see:

  • Improvements for Client Remediation in SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
Is there any information available about Client Remediation improvements in SCCM 2012 R2 over previous versions?

If by previous version you mean ConfigMgr 2007, then yes, they added a health feature that runs as a scheduled task.
Remember though that nearly all agent health issues in ConfigMgr are not ConfigMgr's doing, they are the result of WMI. So really, it's about the OS you are using. If you are on XP (God help you) you are pretty much always going to have WMI issues for a
variety of reasons (including stupid user tricks). If you are on Win 7, then you're better off but you should also deploy KB2775511. Win 8, to my knowledge, is pretty solid as far as WMI goes.

  • Help needed -- Considerations to be taken while migrating 2 different SCCM 2007 hierarchies into a single SCCM 2012 Hierarchy.

Hi, I need your help on consolidating two different SCCM 2007 infrastructures into a single SCCM 2012.
We have two different SCCM 2007 Hierarchies, Lets say 123 and ABC
About 123 SCCM 2007 -- On 123 Hierarchy, we have already started migrating clients from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012.
About ABC SCCM 2007 -- On ABC Hierarchy, This is still running on SCCM 2007 (This hierarchy only be started migrating once                                      we
    are completed migration on 123)
Out of which, we have few co located offices across the globe for both 123 and ABC. Now we are decided to replace the hardware on all these locations by removing the existing two servers (one for 123 and other for ABC,with two different Forest and domains),
and consolidate them into a single server.how can we plan/design to ensure that we covering both hierarchies SCCM clients for the operations.
===================Below are some possibilities we are discussing on================================
1.Is there any way on "System management" in AD to enable access either in 123's domain or ABC's domain.
2.Since we are planning to replace the hardware with Server 2012 R2 with Hyper-V, Create two instances and migrate 123 hierarchy to SCCM 2012 and other instance will serve ABC until we start the migration on this.
    ========================================================================================
correct me, If i am in wrong direction. Please suggest me the best of doing it. Thanks in advance.

    1) In CM 2012 you can publish data to System Management in other forest but you have to configure the permissions manually and create the forest object in the ConfigMgr console.
    2) CM07 and CM2012 instances can co-exist as long as you don't create boundary groups in CM12 for site assignment (that will cause overlapping boundaries if you still have boundaries in Cm07)
