SCCM 2012 - IE10 - Detection Method - Compliance?

Hi, I am successfully deploying IE10 to the domain. I have amended the detection method to the below:
i have updated the content. How do I update the compliance to reflect to the deployment as it is still @ 0% for each Collection? Do i need to redeploy the application?. I need to get the results asap if possible!
Thanks

Hello, there is still no change in the Compliance. I have changed the Detection Rule to
Operator: Greater than or Equal to rather than Equals:
Hoping this will make a difference or any more solutions? Cheers

  • Migrating Clients from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2012 R2. Best method?

I have set up a new SCCM 2012 R2 server to replace our existing SMS 2003.
Our client systems (all Windows 7 SP1 x64 and x86) still have the SMS 2003 client installed but I would like to move them over to the SCCM 2012 R2 server now. I know there are several methods for installing the SCCM client (manual, push, group policy) but
none of these provide a way to uninstall the old client.
Is there a best practice or commonly used process for doing this? Should I be getting rid of the SMS client first by logon script or some other method and the pushing the SCCM client or some other way? Thank you for any advice.

  • Updates installed but SCCM 2012 says non-compliant - Compliance 5 - Specific computer report

    Hi,
I hope someone has an answer.
When I use the compliance report "Compliance 5 - Specific computer report" I've noticed that some updates need to be installed, but when I check the server the updates are already installed.
This issue occurs for several servers.
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Roberto

    Hi,
Have you checked the status of the deployment that contains the updates need to be installed?

  • SCCM 2012 RC Discovery Methods all missing but one...

I am not seeing any other discovery methods under Administration-Overview-hierarchy configuration-discovery methods other than 'Active Directory Forest Discovery'.
I understand that there are supposed to be many more for discovery.
Any ideas?  It appears the same from both console on server and console isntalled on workstation.

Sounds like you've installed a Central Administration Site (CAS).
The only discovery method available on a CAS is "Active Directory Forest Discovery".

  • How to use property Upgrade Code in detection method "Windows Installer"?

    Hi
I am a packaging specialists helping our deployment guys to add our software (100rds of installers) as application entries in SCCM 2012. The methods supplied by SCCM seem however quite generic and limited.
The detection method "Windows Installer" is hardcoded to use the Product Code, why?
Normal detection of Windows Installer packages are done using the Upgrade Code and the Product Version. Is it possible for us our self to add/reconfigure to use that method or are we forced to use the custom detection method?(both those methods should be provided
by SCCM to better match Windows Installer architecture)
Ps. It says in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb632336.aspx for Version that "This
must be in the standard Windows Installer four-part version number format.", but the version number is 255.255.65535 (which is real stupid) as described by http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370859(v=vs.85).aspx. Ds.
    Regards
    Pär

Under LV 7.1 with DSC installed I get the same error code (-2147418113) but "explain error" gives me this.
"LabVIEW DSC:  (Hex 0x8000FFFF) Catastrophic failure."
This prompts the question is it possible to set an activeX object running in a container for Full Screen.
This is probably a Q for MS.
If it look like it is possible, try to get a VB example and that will tell us what we have to do to make this work.

  • IE11 prereqs deploy via SCCM 2012

    Hi,
To deploy IE 11 on Windows 7, apparently you need to install 9 prereqs (see http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/how-to-package-internet-explorer-11-x64-for-windows-7-x64):
    These prereqs are: KB2834140
    KB2670838 KB2639308 KB2533623 KB2731771
    KB2729094 KB2786081 KB2888049 KB2882822
I don't find the prereqs in red within sccm 2012. Did check the classifications (checked them all in software update point) and did a full sync.
Please advise howto find/deploy them (I hoped to do this via windows updates and not via seperate packages).

    Hi,
I just checked the first Patch:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838
And there you can find the section: How to obtain this update.
Is there is Windows Update not noted, you can't receive this Patch through Windows Updates. Consider to deploy the Patch as prerequisite as an application. Here you can find an example of installing hotfixes as prerequisite for the App-V client:
    http://scug.be/sccm/category/detection-methods/
Detection method is VBScript. Ar you want to create a Detection method with Powershell, refer to this blog post:
    https://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/03/19/sccm-2012-application-detection-with-powershell-and-code-signing/
    Hope this helps.

  • Software Distribution & Patching Design Issues - Migration of Packages SCCM 2007 to Application or Conventional Packages in SCCM 2012

    Hi All
I am starting in discussion to deep root on Software Distribution & Patching model in large environments from SCCM 2007 migrating to SCCM 2012.
Below are certain assertions i am putting forward for your expert views or you may in a similar situation
1- I have migrated the packages from SCCM 2007 to SCCM 2012 as conventional methods, now i am deploying them [ not migrated the advertisements and collections ], so while deploying i am facing a peculiar situation that the deployment when created is of the
name "<<Package name>>(program)". I am not able to rename the deployment for the conventional packages. is there a way out to that??
2- Will the collection queries work the same in SCCM 2012 as was in SCCM 2007??
3- In SCCM 2012 Primary site there is default role called Site System role in that there is tab for proxy settings. I have observed that if do not check the proxy tab there and punch in proxy IP and port then after some time in the WSUS server the update
source and proxy server tab the proxy option gets unchecked and hence the sync in software update point status appears failed. Is that anyone else also has observed !!!!!

  • Detection State 'Unknown' in SCCM 2012 Software Compliance Report

My management is looking for windows patches compliance reports from SCCM 2012
When I am trying to prepare Compliance Reports with SCCM 2012 for windows patches, I am noticing that I have lots of patches, where "Unknown" state is showing against many Windows Patches. I was expecting the reports to show “Not Required"
    instead of "Unknown".
Please tell me, where the issue might be and how to rectify it.
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply Jorgen. Is there anyway I can initiate a " Software Update Scan on all Clients from SCCM Console? If yes, please let me steps- how?
As a test, I run "Software scan from a client and client report back to server. However on WindowsUpdates.log I can see some unhappy logs.
Does it mean that WSUS server and clients are having some issue?

  • IE10 setup detection method

Installing IE10 in Task sequence. Not using IEAK, so command line is
    IE10-Windows6.1-x86-en-us.exe" /quiet /update-no /norestart
Installs fine and reboot suppressed. Problem is the detection method detects as failed because prior to reboot nothing appears to change. Neither iexplore.exe or the registry entries have been updated to V10. Therefore SCCM registers as a failed install
After reboot all fine, but the reports say that step of the TS failed
Is there a way round this ?
    Ian Burnell, London (UK)

    Ian,
I would recommend that you use packages for OSD rather than applications. You don't need detection with OSD, it's completely irrelevant and if used within the TS those rules need to be valid. Create an application for non OSD endpoints that are already out
    there that need the update.
Packages give you the option also to run direct from the DP - which might be handy for larger applications that fill up the cache locally.
Ultimately keep it simple. Why over complicate your OSD with unnecessary 'frigging' around?
Just because the model exists doesn't mean you are reducing to using that method only.
    Cheers

  • Deploying Lync 2013 client and SCCM Detection method

So I am deploying the stand alone Lync 2013 client via SCCM 2012 R2, I have used OCT to create a .MSP, and I am trying to import it into SCCM.  However, I am curious as to what others are using for the Detection method?  Normally I would just
use the MSI code, but since there is no single MSI, that is not possible with this particular version?  I'm not sure what the best method would be, Option 1 is to find a registry key that is installed by Lync, or Option 2, use a file, maybe Lync.exe under
    the Program Files?

From the testing I've done Lync creates this reg location...
    HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Office>15.0>Lync
Try using one of the keys in there, or you could use the file version but not sure if this would change with updates.

  • Windows 8.1 clients are not detecting updates deployed to them through SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
We are using SCCM 2012 R2 to deploy software updates.
On Windows 8.1 SCCM does not show certain updates as being needed and isn't deploying them to the clients even though Windows Update will show them as high importance. These same updates are being detected and deployed to Windows 8 clients successfully.
I believe that the update catalog that WSUS uses may have some incorrect detection rules for the following updates:
    2917933
    2913320
    2913270
    2913152
    2909569
    2904440
    2904266
    2903939
    2899189
    2893984
    2893294
    2892074
    2916626
    2898785
My automatic deployment rules include Windows 8.1 in the product category. I have even created a standalone rule for Windows 8.1 that builds a new package and the behavior is the same.
We only have a handful of Windows 8+ clients so this hasn't been a big issue but others may want to keep an eye out.

I am also running into this issue.  After "checking online for updates" on one of my machines in office I found that there were 21 important updates for my 8.1 box.  When I cross reference them in SCCM under All Software Updates, it appears these
8.1 updates are not listed.  They are however listed for all other OS.
10 seconds after typing this, I went in to verify my WSUS ->  Products and Classifications settings and come to find 8.1 and 2012 R2 weren't selected, even though it's an option in SCCM.  Go figure!  This wasn't the end though.  After
running a Synchronization, my issue still wasn't resolved.  Went back to check my settings and they again were changed back to having these OS unchecked.  Finally, a solution!  I found that in SCCM, under Administration tab, Site Configuration
    > Sites > ABC - Mysitename, right click and scroll down to "Configure Site Components" > Software Update Point.  This setting (although the same as is in WSUS) takes precedence, thus was rolling my settings back to the original configuration
    in WSUS.
So long story short, even though my automatic deployment rules stated approve all windows 7/8/8.1 criticals/importants, 8.1 was getting skipped for the most part because my WSUS server wasn't syncing with Microsoft for all of the updates I required.  I
did have a couple of updates that squeezed through because they were categorized as "Security Updates for Windows 8, 8.1".
Not sure if this is the solution you were looking for, but your thread got me started in the right direction, hopefully this response helps in the same way!
    Thanks!

  • SCCM 2012 Built in Compliance Report - I don't understand well

SCCM 2012 Built in Compliance Report not understanding
I am using built in compliance reports in SCCM 2012 (Compliance 1 – overall compliance), which is giving me inconsistence report.
For now, I am now updating many of my servers manually and finding out- how I can show compliance report using SCCM
I have a created a software group only for compliance propose for Aug 2014, containing all updates for all versions of Windows Servers. I have not changed/updates that software group.
Before Microsoft released last patches, the software group didn’t have any expired updates.
I had good number of servers, where showing compliant
However, after new patched have released and I have patched some servers manually, I can now see that I have some servers in to Non-compliant section, which were in compliant section two weeks before.
I also have now lots of server showing in: Compliance state unknown, which I didn’t have two weeks before.
I know, client servers supposed to report to SCCM in every 7 days and I can manually push a client to report to SCCM from client agent. Please help me to understand
Why some servers, where compliant before, are now showing non-compliant? How to be certain, which updates are causing trouble
When I check individual server into compliant sections I see that some updates are showing under * Is Required * I also don’t understand how that server is compliant then There are additional number of updates showing up, which are not part of my software
group. Where those extra information are coming from. From WSUS ?
My final goal is to create monthly Software group> deploy that group to install patched. Next month include that group to a compliance group for only compliance reporting purpose. After every quarter, create one compliance group, combing all three
months updates. So I can show to everyone that we have complied until x months.
Before all can happen, I want to understand my compliance report better.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
However, after new patched have released and I have patched some servers manually, I can now see that I have some servers in to Non-compliant section, which were in compliant section two weeks before.
Since the issue occur after you applied the latest patches.  Please check your deployment, you can see the detail error there.
And please make sure update did intalled successfully on these servers.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 not show Threat item in Malware Detected Report.

I had no "Malware detected" items fount.
There are no report abount virus that Endpoint Protection client finds.
I try to test be creating file with this test content: "X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*", my Endpoint Protection find this file, logging it in its journal, but SCCM not show this Theat.
My computer was discovered, Endpoint Protection was automatic installed, Antimalware Policies work fine...
....but in "Monitoring/Endpoint Protection Status/System Center 2012 R2 Endpoint Protection Status" my collection with my computer(this is test collection), show me: "Endpoint Protection agent
    not yet installed: 1"
There are many collection with many devices, but no one give me report about "Malware Detected", but virus was found in our company.
SCCM 2012 R2 was upgrade from older version(i have not this information).
What log must i fount about this issue?
What cat i do to fix this problem?

SCEP client is installed by policy successfull.
    Policy applied succesfull too.
but i guess that data do not copy from SCEP to SCCM
or data do not inserted in database.

  • Whats the best method to deploy sccm 2012 client

Hello what is the best method to deploy SCCM 2012 client, is there a script that should be used as sometimes the client push fails. In particular pushing the client to server 03 /08/12 types.
    Thankyou
    SCCM Deployment Technician

Ultimately, the best method is whatever works for you. Every environment is different and has unique constraints and requirements. You first need to learn out each of the methods and what they do to be able to properly evaluate which will work best for you.
Kind of like mining for gold, who cares how you got it out of the ground, once you get it out, you're rich :-) But if you rely on someone else telling you what the best way was for their mine, you may not be doing it the best way for your mine thus you need
to geological surveys, exploration, trial and error, etc. In other words, you need to do some real grunt work.
Often, using multiple methods is best though because each has its pros and cons (yes, even my startup script -- thanks for the cheerleading Michael and Tim). But as mentioned, it all comes down to you learning about your environment and the different
methods available to make the best choice. If there was only one "best" way to do it, there wouldn't be multiple available and none of us would really be needed.
