SCCM 2012 MOF changes not showing up on clients

Just updated my configuration.mof for getting a registry entry for a windows build rev. and it checked out well using MOFCOMP -CHECK Configuration.mof and then swapped it out with the live configuration.mof file.  I then imported the reporting class
into SCCM HWInv GUI and it checked out fine.  Dataloader created the tables/views in the SCCM DB and all seems well.
However, my clients are not picking up the HW inventory class updates and are not reporting in.  Its been over a day so it shouldn't be replication.  Where should I look to troubleshoot this?
Please help.
Thanks
Dave

Take a look at these two blogs. The first one is from the site server to the client. The second one is from the client to the site server.

  • Field description changes not showing on one client only

    Hello!
I have a network with several clients all running SAP.  I have modified lots of field descriptions (by pressing CTRL double click on the field).
This is great - except I have one PC where the field descriptions show the original text, rather than my updated descriptions.  This happens even when other SAP users login to this PC.
Can you explain why one PC is not showing the modified field descriptions?
    Thank you
    Omam-B

What do you mean?  I have restarted the PC and reinstalled SAP.
What else is there to restart?
    Thanks

  • SCCM 2012 - SUP - updates not showing as downloaded when they actualy are

Hello. I have a strange problem.
I have collected my updates by year to have an overview of what is still updates..
In the console I have 4 updates showing as not downloaded.
If I highlight these and choose to download I get this
So appearantly it works. However these continue to show as not downloaded. R
My WSUS installation uses a SQL database on a proper sql server.
    Help needed

Nothing happened in the logfile. I have no clue to what is happening.  What I ended up doing was that I recreated the Software Update Group with the exact same updates and downloaded it again. Problem solved. The views in the console are made from SQL
queries. Guess the download process just didnt finish its sql job.
Old log history is of course gone but I will post the logfile here if/when it happens again.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Reports not activate Value button and not showing Visio and Project products

    Hello,
I have experiencing some problems with SCCM reports
    1)  In some of the reports the "Values" button is disabled and because of that I can not select the name of a specific computer, the reports I've noticed that are relating to Specific Computers
    2) The other problem is that when reviewing a software inventory report on a specific computer, Visio nor the Project of Microsoft Office does not appear , which itself can be seen from the Resource Browser
I will appreciate it very much to help me to solve these drawbacks presented in the reports of SCCM 2012 R2.
    Thanks in advance.
    Manuel
    Manuel´s Microsoft Forums Threads

open the report in the report builder tool (in the console, right click and edit. From the reports web page you can click the drop down and choose open with report builder) and examine the query that is being used to populate the computername
values list. You should be able to run that query from the report builder utility to see if anything is being returned. For the report you mention, there is no query to bring back computer names. In report builder, in the left hand menu, open the parameters
folder, then right click @variable from the list and open the properties. Go to the available values item in the menu of the properties window and notice that the available values is set to none, not get values from a query. That is why you can't click on
Values in the SSRS report and get a list of computer Names. You could add a query into the report and save the report if you really want a drop down list of all computer names. I would save the report with a different name if I were to take that approach,
it is not a good practice to modify the built in reports.
Regarding the applications you are not seeing, you will have to look at the query contained in the report, and determine if that query is targeting the same view or data that you were looking at using resource explorer. Which category within resource
explorer were you seeing the information you were expecting to see in this report? You can use report builder to see that the report you are looking at is calling a function to return the software titles, and that function looks to be based on the v_gs_softwareproduct
view. If you were looking at software files or add/remove programs within the resource viewer, you won't necessarily see the same information in the report, since the report is reading a different view.
I hope this info will help you to troubleshoot report quirks. SCCM 2012 reporting is a world apart from SCCM 2007 reporting. There are alot more stored procedures and functions used in SCCM 2012, and even a dll file on the reporting point that is required
for some (most) of the reports!

  • SCCM 2012 MP does not monitor anything but the central site

    Hi,
We've tried implementing the SCCM 2012 MP (5.0.7804.1000) to monitor our SCCM 2012 SP1 setup running on Server 2012 from our SCOM 2012 SP1 setup.
Everything imports fine and after ~30 minutes the servers are discovered and appears.
After a while longer the central site and the SDK-service shows up as monitored but the resto of the 5 DPs and all other server roles remains unmonitored even after 3 days.. ..?
All the agents are set to enable proxy.
The SCOM servers runs with one service accounts and the agents with different action accounts.
The SCOM action accounts on the SCCM-servers all run with the same domain service account with administrator-privileges on the SCCM-servers but no permissions within SCCM.
Does the action account need any specific permissions in the SQL DB or in SCCM? To be part of any specific role?
Any advise is greatly appreciated :)

We have resolved this issue, I'm not exactly sure how we resolved it but what I think fixed the problem for us was creating overrides for the object discovery rules contained in the MP.
See my blog on our implementation: http://damonjohns.com/2014/07/01/monitoring-configuration-manager-2012-r2-with-the-scom-2012-r2-management-pack/
My blog contains a screen shot and all the values I changed.
You may ask why we increased the rate at which the hierarchy discovery rule executed with an override? Well
in part it was due to:
    A. Us having the issue and
    B. I was sick of trying to trouble shoot the event log error that by default only registered every 6 hours.
After I created the overrides, the MP started discovering data. It wasn't immediate though, it took another 6 hours or so for it to start working correctly. I think what might be happening is that one of the discovery rules is not completing correctly which
causes the others to fail - hence no data. I have no idea why shortening the time on the discovery objects made any difference. But...it worked for me.
    Cheers
    Damon

  • SCCM 2012 PKI - Changing of Trusted Root

This is in reference to SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4.
We are in the middle of a PKI migration thereby our Root CA is changing. I added the new root CA to the "Trusted Root Certificate Authorities" in the "Client Computer Communication" tab but it seems to not be where I need to make my change.
My testing with the new certs (Document Signing on Primary Site and Computer Cert on Clients) has been a bust so far.
The documentation at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb633098.aspx is the closest I can find but it is only good for SCCM 2007 as the registry key it references doesn't exist.
In HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\CCM\Security there is a "Certificate Issuers" key that does not show my newly trusted Root and I imagine that is part of the problem. I can edit the key but within 10 seconds it reverts back.
Has anyone been through this process in SCCM 2012 or have any documentation to point me towards?

Apologies, it was https(confirmed again just in case). Typoed in my post above.
I'm using logparser for the IIS log to pull any traffic coming from my client's IP address and the only errors I see are when it tries to talk over port 80. Any requests to 443 return with a code of 200. Here's
all the entries if you see anything I'm overlooking.

  • After installing SCCM 2012 R2 CU4, I show a Distribution Point warning that won't clear.

I recently installed SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 on a LAB environment, and nowhere is it more important to wait until all requisite site roles are reinstalled before doing anything else.
I did, and still do, have an warning/ error on the Site components that shows up on one of the child primary sites after the CU4 installation.
Distribution Manager has not tried to install IIS component of operating system to distribution point “[“Display=\\SCxxx\”]MSWNET:[“SMS_SITE=xxx”]\\xxx\”. You should install and configure IIS manually. Please ensure RDC is also enabled.
IIS is installed, RDC is enabled, but I get this error. What could be the real issue?

    Hi,
So you have tried to reinstall IIS conponents and DP?
Have you checked the distmgr.log? Anything helpful?

  • SCCM 2012 -OS images not transfering to DP ERROR Detail will be available when server finishes processing the message

I am having issue with some application, packages, and images pushing from my Primary SCCM server to the secondary servers and DPs.
I am thinking that the issues are all related so I am going to just talk about the image that I am having a problem with push.
The image has successfully transfered to the Primary site, and secondary sites, but it is having a problem with a DP. The error that shows up in "Content Status" says "Detail will be available when server finishes processing the
messages". All the servers are 2008 R2 server, with SCCM 2012 SP1.
I would take a look at logs for this, but I am pretty new to SCCM, and I'm not sure which log to look at for additional information.
Thank you for any help that can be provided.

The logs pointed me to an error about the Pull DP settings. I think the issue is that I have the images stored on the Primary site, and the DP does not have the Primary site in its Pull DP settings tab. I unchecked the option, and it appears to be working
    now. Thank you

So, does it mean I can use xxxx.exe /install /silent for all other exe installers? And to find out the detection method, do I have to install the exe on a local pc to find out the actual directory it will install it (Then uninstall it)? and xxx.exe /uninstall
is for uninstallation? Can I create a  bat file like chrome-install.bat to have one line like "ChromeSetupStandAloneSetup.exe
/silent /install " as the the actual installer? Why there is a package option below application? it confused me ....
    Thanks!
Thanks and best regards, -- KF

  • SCCM 2012 Software Updates not installing (bothh Windows patches & 3rd party updates)

Using SCCM 2012 R2, I am having a problem getting Windows updates to install.  Applications published to people work, and basic software installations published to machines for a straight install work.  However, both Windows patches and Adobe patches
fail to install on clients. I have imported the Adobe catalog into SCUP, and publish through WSUS. I can see the Adobe patches and Windows patches in SCCM, and can publish them. However, in deployment status out of 4 machines in my test group the Windows patches
installed on 1 and the other 3 are still in Unknown status with category of "Client check passed/Active". However, none of them are installing the patch - they don't even seem to try.  All of those are Windows 7 PCs, incidentally. On Adobe patches,
one PC fails and the other 3 machines still sit in Unknown status.  Certificates are distributed,
Any ideas what might cause the deployment to not push some targets, even when it's past the deadline?
    Thanks,
    Andy Maslin

An unknown status means that the clients are not reporting back to ConfigMgr correctly. This is often due to the WUA not pointing at the correct WSUS instance. You can verify this by examining the WUAHandler.log on one of those clients and it will clearly
indicate an issue with this which in turn is often due to a group policy overriding the ConfigMgr behavior.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Updates not installing

    Hi all,
I have a SCCM 2012 R2 setup at a customer which has problems with distributing updates to the Windows 7 computers in the environment. The update group (with updates that are 100% sure required) is deployed to some test computers but the updates don't get
installed. It is also configured to be able to install the updates without looking at any maintenance windows.  I see in the reporting that the updates are required, so in my opinion they should get installed.
I've checked the registry and the Windows Updates registry keys are pointing towards the right server (my SCCM primary site server). I've created a new software update group with fewer updates, same problem.
What I find in the UpdatesDeployment.log on one of the test machines is rather strange:

There are several updates found in the assignment (2 in the first, 216 in the second). Some of them are required but still the log says: No actionable updates.
The SERVICEWINDOWEVENT events originate from the business hours set in the client settings I suppose?
But I don't get why the log sais "No current service window available to run updates assignment with time required = 1"
    Any advice?
    Kind regards,

    Hi,
What's the status in Software Center on clients?
Please check ScanAgent.log, WUAHandler.log, UpdatesHandler.log and Windowsupdate.log on the client to see if there is any helpful information.
    Best Regards,

  • Incopy changes not showing up in InDesign

I have an InCopy story in which the editor made several edits and applied several style sheets; however, those changes are not showing up in the InDesign file. The InDesign file does not show that the story is "out of date." When I open the actual INCX file, the changes are in the file and if I unlink the story from InDesign, delete the text, then re-link the story, the changes now appear.
We were able to fix this instance and did not loose any text; however, I just wondered if anyone else has had this happen and if there's a known cause for this.

I think your understanding is correct - when double clicked it DOES open the appropriate InDesign file, and it DOES clear the "Package" icon in the assignments palette next to the assignment. But it DOES NOT show the modified incopy "incx" files as has been modified.
Normally it would show it needing to be modified, in which case, like you said, you are prompted (well, there's not a dialog box at that time, but you see the yellow warning icon next to the "incx" file in the Links or Assignments palettes) to update the link(s).
Again this is a hit or miss proposition. The designer and I worked on this for a few hours last week. My contention was that it had something to do with where she had the Exported InCopy "incx" files; where she created the assignment (clicking on the Change button in the New Assignment dialog); or where she put the "indp" package when it she received the modified edits. So we tinkered with changing these paths. We also switched from "Exporting Layer", which is our normal process to just Exporting an individual selected article. Using the "Exporting Layer" and keeping the assignment in the default path (with the InDesign file) seemed to work. But we didn't do enough of that scenario to prove it consistently worked. She will be doing that over the next few live jobs.
But none of those really made sense to me as the culprit. I'm contemplating my next move for testing. Of course today with my local testing, I couldn't reproduce the problem. We're on Window's servers via SMB, maybe that's got something to do with it.

  • OSD: SCCM 2012 collection which should exclude Windows 7 clients (query not working fine)

    Hi,
We have an SCCM 2012 collection to which we deploy Windows 7.
Vista clients get a SCCM 2012 client in SCCM 2007 and once they have it, they get a Windows 7 deployment.
The group is populated by an AD query and that works fine. However, when we try to exclude Windows 7 machines (query = not Windows NT ... 6.1) the query does not return any result.
    Please advise.

Please check your query. It should be like the following.
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Version != "6.1.7601"
