Thus, as Torsten stated, the AI sync point has *nothing* to do with actually gathering or reporting on information in your site unless you actually want the supplemental software categories, labels, and families defined in the catalog. Note that to
use the AI reports though, you must enable the AI classes in hardware inventory:

SCCM 2012 - Adding Assets

Hi all,
I need to deploy a software to almost 1000 machines and i i need to create a collection based on those machines.
Is there a easiest way i can add the machine to the collection instead of choosing one by one

The right click tools by now micro will let you add machines from a text file, you can copy them to clipboard and paste into the tool.

What do those 1000 machine's have in common?
Are they all in a certain active directory OU? that's an option.
Are they a specific build of machine?
if you find a value that matches the criteria your looking for there will be an easy way to do it in Configuration manager.
Do they all follow a naming convention?

I do see App-V applikations in AI reports, but somtimes they missing and only MSI apps are showed. In a step to find the reason reason is ther any prerequsite for the client, like minimum build for App-V 4.6 or somthing else?

Asset Intelligence Catalog not working

in my sccm 2012 the asset intelligence is not working the error is "connection faliled - service offline"
The log says
Asset Intelligence Catalog Sync Service Warning: 0 : Thu, 09 May 2013 10:10:09 GMT:WebException trying to download:

I use a proxy

What URLs need to be accessible to the Site System for Asset Intelligence?
It's the AI Sync Point (role) which needs the connectivity, so that isn't necessarily the site server - it depends where you install the role.
The only stuff I could find (with a quick look) is that AISP uses https/tcp443, no listed URLs

Is there a way to change an existing SCCM 2012 site server intranet FQDN name to lowercase?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the intranet (not internet) FQDN name of an existing SCCM 2012 site server to all lowercase letters? You used to be able to do this in SCCM 2007.

I had a problem with WSUS updates not working via SCCM 2012 R2 during an operating system deployment. When examining the c:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log I found the following errors:
WARNING: SendRequest failed with hr = 80072ee2. Proxy List used: <****:8080;****:8080> Bypass List used : <(null)> Auth Schemes used : <>
+ Last proxy send request failed with hr = 0x80072EE2, HTTP status code = 0
WARNING: GetConfig failure, error = 0x80072EE2, soap client error = 5, soap error code = 0, HTTP status code = 200
After a LONG time researching this error I found it was related to the fact we were using a WPAD proxy implementation and apparently this doesnt cope well with uppercase characters for the WSUS server URL. I changed our GPO to be using lowercase lettering
but when examining the WindowsUpdate log again it still showed as being in uppercase. In the end I found that despite what your GPO setting says, this can get over written by the SCCM site server's own published WSUS location. You can check this by entering
the following command:
wmic /namespace:"\\root\CCM\SoftwareUpdates\WUAHandler" PATH CCM_UpdateSource
Unfortunatelty in SCCM 2012 there is no GUI way to amend the intranet FQDN used for the WSUS location so I then turned to directly editing the database (which anyone will tell you is not recommended, but by this point i was DESPERATE!).
In the end it solved all my troubles so if anyone finds themselves in this situation, you can fix it by going to the SCCM database and within the table 'WSUSServerLocations', change the WSUSServerName to be in lowercase letters.

SCCM 2012 R2 - Import CSV (From Microsoft MVLS file) to Asset intelligence - Import failed

Hello my Customer have SCCM 2012 R2 installed and fully fonctionnal. I have import the CSV file from MVLS. When I import CSV file inton Asset Intelligence I obtain import error... Why? I have tryed to import XML files too and no success...

Therefore this question: do you use it? If yes, what is the added value and can you refer to some screenshots which summarizes the features?

The time it took to ask the forum question is longer than it takes to add the role and configure it.
If you don't use it, many of the built in reports are missing data. Just to save yourself the time of having to explain that to people using the reports is usually justification for adding the role and enabling key classes like Installed Software.

SCCM 2012 Asset Intelligence Report 14A Downgrade Rights not calculated

In SCCM 2012 the License Reconcilation Report cannot calculate downgrade rights like it was the same problem in SCCM 2007:

Yes I know this is an old post, Cal tracking has been removed from CM12 AI and no longer exists.
Also within the forum post you will notice that I say there is no downgrade right listed within CM12/CM07 AI. If you feel this is important then I suggest that you submit a connect item. Post the link back here for other to vote up.

SCCM 2012 - Adding Operating System Installer (The specified path does not contain a valid operating system ..)

I have encountered the dreaded "The specified path does not contain a valid operating system or you do not have permission to access it. Specify a valid path" message that seems to be popular in many forums .... BUT, so far none of the "solutions"
have fixed the problem (of I don't understand the fix)
Configuration
SCCM 2012 SP1 5.0.7804.1000
WADK 8.100.26629.0 < Suggested Fix
Server 2008 R2
SCCM Administrator with UserID = SCCMAdmin
Steps / Fixes I have followed
I have configured a administrative share
\\caleb\sources$ to hold directories (such as Apps, Drivers, and OS) with the following NTFS Permissions
EVERYONE has Read and Execute, List folder, Read permissions<o:p></o:p>
SYSTEM has Full Control
<Suggested Fix
SCCMManagers (our group that has all SCCMManagers) has Full Control<o:p></o:p>
SCCMAdmin (the SCCM Admin account that we are using to import image) has Full Control<o:p></o:p>
Local Administrators (the local machine administrator) has Full Control
<Suggested Fix

Another Fix is to explicitly grant all permissions to the SCCM Administrator

Another suggestion I was able to glean was to Specify the Network Access Account
so I configured SCCMAdmin as the Network Access Account.
Another potential fix is that the image ISO file that has been downloaded is corrupt.   So, I downloaded the Win 7 (and Win 8.1) ISO's from MSDN and did a Checksum check.
I then mounted the ISO (on 2008R2 I use VirtualClone Drive) and copied the contents of the image to
E:\Sources\OS\en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_vl_build_x86_dvd_u_677896 for Windows 7 with SP1
To double check,
I computed the Hash on the Install.WIM located in the Sources directory and compared with
the computed Has Tag for the Install.WIM on the ISO Image ... and the Hash tag of the WIM's matched (extracted vs what is contained within the ISO)<o:p></o:p>
I tried to load the images into SCCM 2012 using the "Operating System Installers" option

Procedure performing a "Retry Secondary Site" Operation in SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary Server

Dear Brother,
My SCCM 2012 R2 Secondary Site Server, unfortunately crashed and required to be restored, doing this I end up performing a "Retry Secondary Site Operation.
One by one I am clearing out the errors but there are few remaining errors on the prerequisite checks:
1.[Failed]:The logon account for the SQL Server service cannot be a local user account, NT SERVICE\<sql service name> or LOCAL SERVICE. You must configure the SQL Server service to use a valid domain account, NETWORK SERVICE, or LOCAL SYSTEM.
Actions Done: SQL Related Services use Logon As Domain Account "Microsoft-Domain\BillAdmin" , but still the above message still appears in the logs.
Actions Done: None
2.[Failed]:The collation of the site database does not match the collation of the parent site's database. All sites in a hierarchy must use the same database collation.
3.[Failed]:The site server might be unable to publish to Active Directory. The computer account for the site server must have Full Control permissions to the System Management container in its Active Directory domain. You can ignore this warning if you have
manually verified these permissions. For more information about your options to configure required permissions, see

Actions Done: None, as this machine is previously a working Secondary site for 1 Year already. So I do not suspect anything from the current related configuration.
4.[Failed]: Either the user account running Configuration Manager Setup does not have sysadmin SQL Server role permissions on the SQL Server instance selected for site database installation, or the SQL Server instance could not be contacted to verify permissions.
Setup cannot continue.

Software Asset Management Solution Accelerator for SCCM 2012 (Contracts, Licenses, Userights, Installations and net usage

With the given need from the market to manage license compliance proactively - the givven toolsets from MS SCCM 2012 should be capable of handling the given complexity. (reference 27 processes out of SAM ISO 19.770-1:2012
Where can I find the solution accelerator, which guides us to help clients on two tipical use-cases
a.) Client has SCCM 2012 - however not yet established the SAM componentes to it (Contracts, Use-rights and License-Comparizons)
b.) Client has no SCCM yet and wants to start his journey with the Commercial scope right away.
Any guidance highly appreciated

SCCM alone isn't going to fit this need.
You need a License Compliance Solution / Software Asset Management (SAM) solution which SCCM is not.
The issue with those system, they fail of providing clean /usefull data.
Usually the best approach is to collect the data with SCCM, normalize the data for that I used BDNA Normalize, then pull in the SAM.

Installing SCCM 2012 R2 "Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation"

Hi all.
I'm a student with a mission of reviewing SCCM 2012 R2 for a company in a lab environment. I have access to a bladesystem with 4 physical servers. On these I have 7 virtual machines: 2 DCs, 2 servers for SCCM and SQL and 3 clients. The SCCM installation
is supposed to be a single standalone primary server with the SQL database on another physical server.
When I try to install the SCCM i get to the point where I have to submit my SQL information, but I keep getting the error message:
"Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation".
I've searched the internet for 2 days now and I'm near a mental breakdown...
I've installed the SQL server, made my admin account (which I use everywhere for simplicity) member of all the admin groups (schema, domain, enterprise etc.), I've extended the AD schema and the SPNs are set, I have full connectivity between the all servers
with ping and nslookup both returning correct values, the servers are not clustered, I have installed all required features, all firewalls are disabled.
Please, if anyone knows whats wrong give me a hand, all help is appreciated! :)

Well I'm installing the trial version downloaded directly from Microsoft, I'm not sure if that's what you mean by reviewing, but I'm performing the acutal install in a lab environment. I do install the SCCM on another server than the SQL, both are virtual
machines on different physical servers within the same bladesystem. I could try to install them on the same machine, but I have limited amounts of RAM and hard drive space. I'd prefer to keep them separate but if it's too hard to find the source of the error,
I could have a look if I have enough for the install on the same machine. How much RAM and hard drive space would you recommend if I install it on the same server?

SCCM 2012 Operating System - is it the recommended OS today

I would like to confirm that the 2012 server Operating System is the preferred OS for SCCM 2012 at this time.
Is it performing well without issues?
I would like to upgrade from SCCM 2007 using 2003 OS to SCCM 2012 with 2012 Server Standard.

All supported OSes will work, but I'd use the lastest one (Server 2012 R2) if possible.
