SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Can't Edit WMI Query Code in Report Builder

I first posted this in the SCCM but the issue is not solved so I thought I'd try here in the SQL Reporting forum. Original thread here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b0a6ca3d-7471-4b49-8447-7403a65c2ec0/sccm-2012-r2-cu2-cant-edit-wmi-query-code-in-sccm-reports?forum=configmanagergeneral
I'll repost info here to make this easier.....
I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. This also uses SQL 2012 SP1 CU6. This suite has 4 servers: site server, two for WSUS and secondary DPs, and SQL. This problem is true for the built in reports and my custom reports. Our SQL guy has
been helping me a lot but we've gotten nowhere. I can run a report. I can open one in edit mode after it prompts me for credentials. It loads Report Builder 3.0. But when I go to a dataset/query, enter credentials, and try to open it, I get a popup that
says "Unable to connect to data source. 'AutoGen_5C6358F2_yayak..." When I click on details it says "The target principal name is incorrect. A connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login
process.  (SSL Provider, error: 0 -The target principal name is incorrect.)" In SQL Reporting Services Config Manager the paths for Web Service URL is
http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/ReportServer_SC01 and for Report Manager URL:
http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/Reports_SC01. A domain account is used to login. This happens when you r-click a dataset and select query to edit the code of a dataset, ie, when query designer tries to open up. It happens
in both Admin Console and when using the Report Manager URL within SQL SSRS. All other functions of using edit mode of a report work fine.
Ben JohnsonWY

When I do that, browse is dimmed out.
But, if I deselect "create a data set" and click "choose an existing dataset in this report..." there is no data connection at the end.
But if I don't use report builder and instead use IE to browse to my ConfigMgr_ABC, I do see the connection at the end: {123...}.
This problem is on a network that is not on the 'net, so it's hard to do screen shots, so I'll reproduce this problem step by step:
I pick a report to edit, it doesn't matter which one.
If I try it in Admin Console, I right-click, Edit the report, it asks me for a login, I login, then I get a popup that says "Cannot continue. The application is improperly formatted. Contact the vendor for assistance. I click the Details button and
get a long set of text but the key part is "Your web browser settings do not allow you to run signed applications." This msg didn't appear before, so something changed, so I will investigate. I think it used to give a SPN error.
If I use IE within report builder and navigate to whatever report, click open, everything works, except, when I click on Dataset0 (the key one I normally need to edit), click query, it prompts me for a login and no matter which one I use, i get a popup that
says "unable to connect to data source 'AutoGen_123...'". If I click details I get "the targe principal name is incorrect. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider:
SSL Provider 0-The target principal name is incorrect.)

    Hi Miss Katherine,
    1. I went through the SQL steps in the link you posted
    2. I updated the Reg Key and Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe.config file with 3.0 on both the
    server and the console machine.
    3. I copied the .DLL file from your OneDrive and replaced the existing one on the server.
    4. I uninstalled and re-installed the reporting role on the server and received the 1015 in the log.
    5. I restarted the server and the client machine
I do get a slightly different error now after using the new DLL

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Admin Console Connects But Closes In A Few Seconds

I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. There are four servers: site server, secondary DP, WSUS/SUP, and a SQL server. On the first three the SCCM Admin Console will open. But when logged into the SQL server, the Admin Console opens
for a couple seconds, then closes. The SQL box can connect via wbemtest to
\\server\root\sms\site_ABC. I have checked all the items that show on the screen when your console won't connect. There are  no errors in the smsprovl.log on the site server. I think this problem is on the SQL server.
This is one of three problems I've had a lot of difficulty with on this network. I'm making separate threads for all three
    Ben JohnsonWY

I have been able to verify this problem generates 4 entries in Event Viewer/System logs. In the order they get generated by first in time:
1st - A fatal error was generated and sent to a remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 43. The Windows Schannel error state is 552.
2nd - The certificate received from the remote server does not contain the expected name. It is therefore not possible to determine whether we are connecting to the correct server. The server name we were expecting was (the IP of the SQL server). The
SSL connection request has failed. The attached data contains the server certificate.
3rd - DCOM was unable to communicate with the server servername.fqdn using any of the configured protocols; requested by PID 3cb8 (C:Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Configuration Manager\AdminConsole\bin\Microsoft.ConfigurationManagement.exe)
4th - an exact repeat of the 3rd entry.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Clients Will Not Download Anything Using BITS, error 0x801901F4

I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. Clients will not download anything that require BITS transfers. The root of the problem seems to be in the DataTransferService.log. These lines keep appearing over and over:
CDTSJob::HandleErrors DTS Job '(a GUID)' BITS Job '(a GUID)' under user '(SID)' OldErrorCount: 11 NewErrorCount: 12 ErrorCode 0x801901F4 (of course, error counts increment)
CDTSJob:Handlerrors DTS Job = '(GUID matching one above)' URL='http://dpname and package path' ProtType=1
    Any input appreciated.
    Ben JohnsonWY

Well, I found a problem. LOCAL SERVICE was running the Distribution Points Pool in IIS and Local Service didn't have rights to c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework64\V4.0.30319 on the DP server. Once it did that it cleared up some IIS problems but not this
    problem.
0x80070003 seems to mean "path not found". In DataTransferService.log the path it's trying to get to is
http://fullservername:80/sms_dp_smspkg$/abc00012. When I enter that path into a browser URL bar, it displays this info:
    date time 50449456
http://fullservername:80/sms_dp_smspkg$/abc0012.2/exe file of patch it's trying to pull.
The clients seem unable to find the path to the patches.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 - Unable to deploy or configure PullDP's

After upgrading to SCCM 2012 R2 CU2, I'm not able anymore to promote new Distribution Points acting as Pull DP's with the source servers set. This was configured and worked as expected under SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 where the 2 DP's were setup as PullDP's. After
Upgrade to 2012 R2 CU2, I decided to switch everything over to use HTTPS instead of HTTP as it is getting closer to production. In this process I uninstalled a DP and tried to promote it back, yet when I try to select a DP as source, it lists none.
Venturing a bit ahead, if I try to modify the PullDP's on the one that upgraded to SSL as expected, this also appears to be "broken" if I strip away the single DP it has and add in a new, so this change has not been applied to it.
After sleeping on it, I decied to try to do this via PowerShell instead, to no avail.
    Output of powershell:
PS BKA:\> Set-CMDistributionPoint -SiteCode 'ABC' -SiteSystemServerName 'RemotePullDPFQDN' -EnablePullDP $true -SourceDistributionPoints 'PrimarySiteServerFQDN' -SourceDPRanks 1WARNING: One or more source distribution points are invalid.Set-CMDistributionPoint : Validation of input parameters failed. The DP's are also MP and FSP's for the purpose in a "remote" untrusted forest, this is for them to have localized content available to lessen the load on the firewalls AND the Primary Site Server itself (6000+ laptops and desktops).
Any thoughtson how to promote the PullDP back?

  • SCCM 2012 what setting can be enabled so that no system force users to restart

SCCM 2012 what setting can be enabled in design rather then software distribution method and patching method which will help
to stop systems to restart even though not suppressed during in patching.

That's not possible. When during installation the restart is not suppressed, the system will restart. There is nothing from a ConfigMgr perspective that will prevent that from happening.
If there is a particular system that you want to stop from restarting you could try to prevent that by using the command shutdown -a.

  • Problem to generat an report on an SSRS for SCCM 2012 R2 SP1. I got error has occurred during report processing.

    Hi,
Problem to generat an report on an SSRS for SCCM 2012 R2 SP1. I got error has occurred during report processing.
In general it is no problem to generat SSRS reports, but an custom one i get issue with.
    The Error:
    An
error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
    Query
execution failed for dataset 'DataSet1'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand)
    ExecuteReader:
CommandText property has not been initialized

    Hi SaiTech,
According to your description, when you render report on SCCM 2012 R2, you got the error message.
According to my knowledge, the issue can be caused by following reasons:
Select permission not granted to ConfigMgr reporting account. We need to open the SQL management console and open the properties dialog box of configmgr db, grant select and execute permission to ConfigMgr reporting account.
Reporting Services Web Service URL or Report Manager is false. Make sure Web Service URL and Report Manager URL are correct. Restart SMS_Executive service and reinstall Reporting Service Point, then please render the report again.
Report timeout. Increase query and report timeout.
If the problem remain unresolved, please provide detailed information of SRSRP.log (default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft  and Configuration Manager\Logs) and reporting services error log(default location: %programfiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\<SQL
Server Instance>\Reporting Services\LogFiles), it will help us move more quickly toward a solution.
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Cu1: Can I reinstall the Reporting Services Point role without delete or change the SSRS-DB?

Hi, I have some issue with the reports,
Can I reinstall the SCCM Reporting Services Point role without delete or change the SSRS-DB (just reset the SCCM SSRS function)?
I have saved/backup the custom made reports.
    /SaiTech

Yes you can remove and reinstall the Role.  I had to do this recently on our SCCM 2012 R2 due to an issue with the reports not loading.   Found out that the problem with reports was from the upgrade to R2 from 2012 SP1 and was able to run
a command to re-register the reports with WMI.  I actually removed the role, uninstalled reporting services feature from SQL, deleted the report databases, reinstalled the SQL feature, configured the reporting databases again, added the role back, and
    ran the following command.
    mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
This allowed all my reports to register as they should have and run without errors.  If you are having similar problems, you may be able to just run that command to get reports running without all the extra work I did.  For us we were getting an
invalid Class error in the srsrp.log.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 PxE can't boot - your pc need to be repired.

    Dear All,
These days, I upgraded SCCM 2012 to R2 , after that PxE can't boot , and shows a blue screen that your pc need to be repired, same issue like this:http://www.gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/02/sccm-2012-task-sequence-fails-with-bcd.html
And, i have also re-configed the pxe more times follow by this acticle , and still failed.
And, after I replace the \RemoteInstall\SMSTemp\2014.01.08.12.31.26.01.{xxxxxxxxx}.boot.bcd to \RemoteInstall\Tmp\x86x64{xxxxxxx}.bcd, and the PC can boot to the winpe well. that means the pc using Tmp folder's BCD store
to boot to WinPE, and not using SMSTemp's.
    I check the PxE process:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc722358(v=ws.10).aspx
PXEBoot.com downloads Bootmgr.exe and the BCD store, and I think PXEBoot.com should download BCD store from SMSTemp folder, and should not be the Tmp folder.
So, my question is that why te PXEBoot.com download BCD from Tmp folder ? And how can I change it to download BCD from SMSTemp folder. ? I have been getting to crazy about this fucking problem.
    Nemo

Reinstalling WDS and the PXE was not the answer, at least not for me, but I dunno about the original poster as he kept quiet.
For now I am trying to get SCCM2012 R2 running as this is the topic for my final projekt.
But I am stuck here, the problem is the same as the original poster mentioned.
Even thougt DHCP options are set to my CM and smsboot\x86\wdsnbp.com, pxe keeps loading boot\... and fails.
Making a copy from smsboot to boot and renaming the file fixes it in a dirty way.
The WDS-service has never been configured manually, after rolling back to a fresh Server and installing CU1 first nothing changed about that (PXE worked at all at least) und reinstalling the living dead out of the roles and features fixes nothing.
The remoteinstall folder gets populated everytime, with the SMS related stuff and the wds related stuff, I guess (boot, SMSboot, ...).
I tried various variations of the start path, TFTP still loads from boot instead smsboot.
The Images have been temporarily replaced with the one from our old site.
I renewed the whole site, this bugs me since 2012 R1 and R2 is the second site too.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help with an working solution.
Let me know if you need some more informations, site is described below.
In case this should get another Thread, let me know.
    Thank you guys :)
Hyper-V Environment, Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard on all three Hosts (Gen 2),
Followed mainly the MS TLG for SCCM2012 for this, supported by windows-noob.
    Have a nice day.
Little Edit right here: renaming the file only helps with the 89 error thing, but it doesn't help booting the sccm image.

I am using SCCM 2012, SP1 and I am trying use it to deploy Windows 7.  The PXE boot succeeds and the task sequence starts working and is able to do evertything up to and including the disk partition.  But when it gets to installing the OS it fails

  • How can I edit custom query in Data Insight

    1.  Whenever I click the edit sql query by right clicking on the custom query, the system hangs up and does not proceed further
    2.  Once you create a query without retrieving data results, is it possible to change to retrieve the data and how.
    Thanks -   Mahrukh

    Hi Mahrukh,
I do not have this issue.  What version of Data Insight are you using?  What database is your metadata repository?  What database is your source data in for the Data Insight query you are writing?  Have you tried double clicking on the custom query - this should open it up for you to be able to edit it as well!
You should be able to open the query to edit it and either click the return data box or un-check it for any type of query.
    Thanks,
    Denise

  • Cannot Edit Universe Query in Crystal Reports.

    Hi,
We have Crystal Reports 2008 SP5 installed on a Terminal Server where our report developers can go to develop reports. We have a 4 node BOXI R2 SP4 cluster on the opposite side of a firewall, and have opened the firewall ports so that Crystal Reports can connect to this BOXI cluster and a universe on that cluster, and the developers can publish their reports.
For some developers, and the issue is intermittent for them, if they open one of those Crystal Reports to edit the universe query, they go into Database Expert and right click and choose Edit query, nothing happens. The Query Editor window does not open. They don't get any errors, other than the Universe Query editor window refuses to open. No errors on the BOXI server side either.
They can work for a few days and everything works fine, when suddenly this behavior starts. When they report the issue to me and I try it myself, it works fine. I've checked their access rights repeatedly and have even given a user temporary full admin rights to rule out any rights issues, but they stll get this behavior.Just as strange, the problem suddenly will disappear. Often, they will send me an message several hours or days later stating that everything is OK again and they can edit their universe queries in the same reports that refused to work earlier.
I've also checked the BOXI cluster nodes to see if possibly one of the services had a missing -requestport setting, and was choosing a random port that the firewall could be blocking, but everything looks fine. If I login to the BOXI cluster servers and try one of the reports, I can edit the query just fine.
Any suggestions? I'm at my wits end.

I had the same issue and it was because the Universe is having Oracle as Database and I dont have any Oracle drivers installed on my machine. Once i have installed Oracle drivers i was able to view/edit the query panel.
    Hope this would help you.
