  • SCCM 2012 Primary Site Recovery - Packages not working

I recently had to recover my Primary Site due to system crashes with blue screens on a daily basis. I was running ConfigMgr 2012 SP CU 3 and as part of the process I migrated from WS2008 R2 to WS2012 R2.
After many hours of perusing the web, I found the solutions to deal with the common site recovery issues such as SSL certs, and the content validation due to an empty ContentLib folder. I also had the issue with the update source where it listed the old
WSUS 3.2 server and the new one so the Site GUID was also updated.
The issue I am currently experiencing is that packages new or old including software update packages are not working. When using the script by Peter VanWoulde it lists the Deployment State as Error. I have tried redistributing them, valdiating the content,
removing distribution points, adding in new distribution points and even recreating some of the smaller packages to test but nothing is working.
Application deployments are working without issues.

At this point I am running out of ideas of where to look.

    Hi Xin,
Sorry for not responding earlier but I did recover the site using the guidelines in the following article Backup and Recovery in Configuration Manager,
however there were a few issues.
I did not have a ContentLib backup so all the content had to be redistributed and validated before that worked. None of my packages new or old would work. I eventually found an article from a forum member who also initiated a Site Reset as part of their
recovery process and had no issues.
So it seems that any packages are still not working and i think I narrowed it down.
For some reason even though my DP and MP are all set for HTTPS, it is trying to access the HTTP path for SMS_DP_SMSPKG$. I am using PKI certs so this is the correct path but it should be HTTPS.

  • SCCM 2012 - Automatic User Device affinity - Not Working

    Hi,
I need to enable the Automatic User Device affinity.
Have enabled following two group policy settings:
    Audit account logon events
    Audit logon events
In client settings User and Device Affinity
    following is enabled:
User device affinity threshold (120 minutes)
User device affinity threshold (2 days)
Automatically configure user device affinity from usage data – True
However even after 2 days there is no user device relationship getting build.
Is there anything more required to be done?
Any logs or links to be referred for troubleshooting?
    Regards,
    Milind Dhuri.

    Hi,
Please post this in SCCM 2012 forum.

  • SCCM 2012 - Hardware Inventory Registry Import not working - Windows in the name of the Registry key

I downloaded the Reg to MOF tool and compiled some of our custom Registry Keys which worked fine. There was particular Key that didn't work and after some testing and messing around I realized why it isn't working:
The key I am using is: HKLM\Software\MyCompanyWindows
Because the key has the name Windows in it, it fails to import. I get the generic check the formatting for your MOF file error.
The MOF file you tried to import could not be compiled. Ensure that the MOF file contains valid data. You can use the command line mofcomp utility to test the data.
But if I run a MOFCOMP against the MOF I am trying to import it checks the syntax successfully.
If I change the key to MyCompanyWin or MyCompanyW it imports with no problem.
We have rolled out this key to almost every device in our organization and connected it to other inventory agents so there is no possibility of changing the key.
Is there any way to disable the validation check that SCCM is performing?

    Hi,
If possible, could you please upload the MOF file to SkyDrive?

install.sh not working - need help
    Hi all,
OS Solaris 8. Sun Sparc 20 - 256 MB 9.1 GB. I am using csh for this install as instructed for the user OPAPPS.

Would anybody know why I get install.sh NOT found when it is there?. This executabel is on the CD. I am not sure why it gives

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle clinical 4.5.x.
I need to know whether both the Database server and application server for Oracle Clinical can be installed on same server(windows 2000 server).
Both of them are installed on windows platform.
It seems that u have tried the single node installation.
So,please give all the possible details regarding the single node installation for oracle clinical no matter what platform it is.
Please reply me as soon as possible, its urgent.
    Thanking u in advance.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 Update to CU5 not showing version 1600 for clients updated !

Recently upgraded SCCM 2012 SP1 and its showing a version of 5.0.7804.1600 as it should be. Pushed out the CU 5 client manager update to few machines and they are also showing .1600 as the version, however in SCCM 2012 manager itself it is not updating the
status of those machines from say .1000 or .1400 to .1600. Why is this happening and any solution for it ? I have also updated the CM on the server hosting the SCCM and is current to .1600 version.

Because the client agent version is returned from clients via heartbeat discovery which only occurs by default every 7 days. Thus, you need to be patient. Note that I generally recommend reducing the heartbeat cycle to at least once a day partly for
    this reason.

  • Windows Server 2012 - Printing using UNC path not working

    Hi,
I have a problem printing using the printer's UNC path ("\\Server_Name\Printer_Hostname") to work with a web
app hosted on IIS 8. With a windows forms application the UNC path is working fine and the app prints.
    With
the web app I receive an error "The data area passed to a system call is tool small".
    Also,
in the event viewer under Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> PrintService -> Operational, I receive the error "The print spooler failed to reopen an existing printer connection because it could not read the configuration information
from the registry key S-1-5-82-1980832875-2702362896-1795126167-3622310632-1152289074\Printers\Connections. The print spooler could not open the registry key. This can occur if the registry key is corrupt or missing, or if the registry recently became unavailable."

I have contacted IIS forum support.
    Please review the link: http://forums.iis.net/p/1213109/2079229.aspx?Re+Windows+Server+2012+Printing+using+UNC+path+not+working
    Their final response:
Printing from ASP.NET using System.Drawing.Printing itself is a horrible approach, as this namespace was designed for Windows Forms only. The designers did not take everything about ASP.NET in mind, so any issue can happen. That can answer why the HP model
works while the Samsung fails, as the HP one just "happens
    to work",
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.drawing.printing.printdocument.aspx
Similarly, System.Printing was designed just for WPF.
About which printing API to use in ASP.NET/IIS, there is no clear answer so far. Thus, your only resource is Microsoft support, who can perform further analysis (with their dedicate utilities and of course Windows source code) and might come across a solution
to help you out. This is not a trivial scenario.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 PXE not working because DHCP Option 43 is configured to AVAYA

    Hello!
We are having some issues with PXE and OS Deployment with some computers.
We tested computers DELL, PXE and DHCP works without any issues. But we tested some HP computers and we received the error  PXE-E77 Bad or missing discovery server list
We investigate that error and found that is related with the Option 43 Vendor Specific Info is enable on the DHCP Server, the solution that we tested and works as expected is create a new scope on the DHCP and without enable the Option 43.
That was a temporary solution for the issue, nevertheless we need to use PXE over our network, and we cannot remove the Option 43 on the DHCP configured for AVAYA, so we need a solution that can coexist with PXE and Option 43 on the DHCP.
We will apreciate any advice on this issue.
    Thank in advance.
    Manuel
    Manuel´s Microsoft Forums Threads

The easiest way to deal with this problem is not to use DHCP scope options. Implement IP Helpers instead. It is straightforward to configure and is the only MS supported way anyway.

  • PXE not working after adding second DP

    Hello,
i'm having a very strange issue, i had installed a second DP in my environment, all looked to work fine, but now my clients using PXE boot refer to that new server when doing PXE boot, even if my DHCP is setup to refer to my first server (with option 66).
i tried to uninstall the second DP, it lead to another behavior, client keep stuck on DHCP discovery during boot. I have to disconnect the new DP to see things working normally.
    I'm using windows server 2012 R2 and SCCM 2012 R2.

i tried to uninstall the second DP, it lead to another behavior, client keep stuck on DHCP discovery during boot. I have to disconnect the new DP to see things working normally.
new DP is on the client subnet which is not the case of old DP.
I would guess that you have removed the second DP (DP2) but WDS did not uninstall automatically (have a look at the server and see). Therefore when the clients boot they see a WDS server (DP2) on the same subnet and try to connect. Of course they can't
as you have removed all the content.
When you disconnect the server it cannot announce itself as an available WDS server and therefore the clients boot correctly from outside the subnet (DP1).
You will fix this problem (if I'm right) by uninstalling the WDS role from DP2 (your new one).

  • PXE not working - 0xc0000098 error "Your computer needs to be repaired"

    Screenshots of errors:
    http://sdrv.ms/17epiNz
    Here's my setup:
Windows Server 2012 on Hyper V
SCCM 2012 SP1 installed as primary site
Server is set up as PXE distribution point
WDS was set up by enabling PXE distribution point, not by manually adding the role and configuring
2 Boot images created (one for x86 and one for x64) and updated on distribution points
Both boot images are set to be deployed from the PXE-enabled point
I have a build and capture task sequence distributed to a collection with my test computer that I'm trying to PXE boot
Options 66 and 67 are set up on the DHCP scope, this should be working fine (it can reach the server, it just seems to not be getting a boot image)
Looking for any advice, let me know what more information I need to give, if any. Thank you.

Have a look at this blog by Niall Brady. I know you haven't upgraded to SCCM 2012 SP1 However the errors in the SMSTS.log are the same.

    Thanks for the link.
I tried that, but I took it a step further and completely removed and reinstalled the PXE and WDS roles. Unfortunately I'm still getting the same error.
Furthermore, there is no SMSPXE.log file under C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs
For some reason that log is no longer being created.

If the command-line you gave ConfigMgr runs successfully, there's not anything else ConfigMgr can do. Thus the logs above don't add any value. Thus, the issue lies with the MSI. Where did you get it from? Have you tried running it with the /l*v command-line
option to add verbose logging and then reviewed this log file? Have you tried manually testing using the System account (done using psexec) to more closely emulate how ConfigMgr invokes the command-line?

  • SCCM 2012 Endpoint Protection initial update not downloaded

    Hi,
I'm new to SCCM 2012. I recently started deploying the Endpoint  Protection to all of clients (Windos 7 and XP Pro).
I've noticed that some clients have not been updating their initial definitions after the Endpoint Protection Software is installed.
Since they are not updating their detonation the client remains unprotected with the status icon in red.
The odd thing is that some of our computers do the initial update just fine while others are effected.
Also if I click update manually then the update goes through no issue, but with 100+ clients not updated its not something I want to do manually.
The clients are set to receive auto updates via a auto deployment rule.
Also the antimalware policy is set to do updates as well in this order:
    Config Mgr
    WSUS
    Microsoft Malware Protection Center
    Microsoft Update
    Has anyone seen this before?
If I need to upload any specific logs just let me know.
    Many Thanks

Do you have Software update configured (and working) thru ConfigMgr or using a standalone WSUS?

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Won't PXE Boot

I'm trying to get PXE booting to work on our SCCM 2012 R2 server and am getting the dreaded "PXE-E53: No Boot file Name Received."  DHCP server is in same subnet on a different machine, so supposedly no DHCP options or ip helpers are necessary.  I'm
testing using a client VM with the legacy adapter for the NIC, and that machine PXE boots fine from our SCCM 2007 server.
When I test, I've been shutting down the SCCM 2007 server so that the 2012 machine is the only PXE server on our network.
In a nutshell, I'm trying to deploy Windows 8.1 using
this as a guide. The x86 and x64 boot images are enabled for PXE distribution and I've deployed the task sequence for the 8.1 OS image to all unknown computers.  The DP  shows content for the OS image and the boot images.  PXE on the DP is enabled
and checkmarked to listen for PXE requests on all interfaces and for unknown computer support.
For troubleshooting I've tried unchecking all the PXE settinging in the DP, which removes WDS and then putting it back, as well as removing the MP role and putting it back (see attached snippet of SMSPXE.LOG).
I feel like I'm missing something basic here.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Thanks, Jason.  Yes, the MAC addrss is the client I'm trying to PXE boot.
I've reviewed the health in the monitoring section.  No issues in System Status, and in Content Status there is only one error regarding the DP trying to contact an old SCCM 2007 distribution point at a branch office.  This
appears to be a leftover from the migration process from SCCM 2007.  This old distribution point is no longer in use and I can't seem to find any references to it on my SCCM 2012 R2 installation.  Not sure if this is significant or not.
I've attached a snippet of the error:

  • SCCM 2012 - Task Seq - Install Lenovo AMT software - Failing with 2147500037 (80004005)

    Hi there
Wondering is anyone has had any issues installing Intel Management Engine 10.0 software via a SCCM 2012 task sequence?
We have a number of older laptops which we build via a Windows 7 task sequence from SCCM 2012. As part of the install each laptop gets the appropriate version of the Intel ME software. All well and good.
We now have a new model to build (Lenovo T440) and for some reason the latest available version of Intel ME 10.0 software keeps failing in the task sequence with a 2147500037 (80004005) error.
This can mean different things but often means a permissions issue. Not sure what the permissions issue could be.
This software is installed at the same stage as previous versions of the same software are installed for older laptop models. Same install command too, SetupME.exe -s as per the document which comes with the software (in previous versions it is Setup.exe
not SetupME.exe but don't imagine the different file name is the problem).
I will try an older version but really we want to keep up with the latest available versions.
Anyone had problems installing this Intel ME v10.0 software via a SCCM 2012 task sequence?
    Best regards
    John

Does the install provide any logging? Does execmgr.log show any other info?
Per the readme, it should be setup.exe.

    Unattended Install
This is for system administrators' use only.
    1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the file.
    2. In the step 11 of the Installing files section, uncheck the checkbox next
to "Install ..... now", and then select Finish to cancel installation.
    3. At the command line, execute Setup.exe with the -s option.

  • SCCM 2012 distribution point install failes with faild to verify disk drive

I am trying to install remote distribution point on new Windows Server 2012 standard but getting failures. here is the code:
Failed to find a valid drive on the distribution point
Failed to install DP files on the remote DP. Error code = 15
I can created files and folder manually on the server fine on the drive specified during the deployment wizard. I need to know what process SCCM 2012 goes through to verify a disk drive for usage as a remote distribution point

    Hi,
Did you ever get this fixed?
    In my case, it's a physical server with a 2x 500GB in RAID1.
Server OS is 2012. SCCM Version is 2012 SP1 cu2
The disk has been partitioned into 2 logical drives: C-Drive and D-drive
    The distmgr.log states:
failed to find a valid drive on the Distribution Point
Failed to install DP Files on the remote DP. Error Code = 15
Drive D: is not valid. Error = 15
Do you have any ideas of how SCCM evaluates drives to be correct?
I've ran a WMI Query and the partition shows as a Local Hard Disk.
Do you have any more ideas what I can check?
    Thanks!
    Filip
