SCCM 2012 R2 MP not installing

Hope someone can assist me. I have a SCCM 2012 R2 Primary server on Windows 2012 and installed some site Servers with DP's and MP's installed on Windows 2008.
2 of the MP's have failed. I have tried to reinstall but can not.
Checking the mpmsi.log I get the following error.

I have reinstalled BITS,IIS and MP. I have stopped the Task Scheduler and renamed the folder and restarted the server.
Basically short of reloading the server I have done everything I found on the internet.

  • SCCM 2012 Software Updates not installing (bothh Windows patches & 3rd party updates)

Using SCCM 2012 R2, I am having a problem getting Windows updates to install.  Applications published to people work, and basic software installations published to machines for a straight install work.  However, both Windows patches and Adobe patches
fail to install on clients. I have imported the Adobe catalog into SCUP, and publish through WSUS. I can see the Adobe patches and Windows patches in SCCM, and can publish them. However, in deployment status out of 4 machines in my test group the Windows patches
installed on 1 and the other 3 are still in Unknown status with category of "Client check passed/Active". However, none of them are installing the patch - they don't even seem to try.  All of those are Windows 7 PCs, incidentally. On Adobe patches,
one PC fails and the other 3 machines still sit in Unknown status.  Certificates are distributed,
Any ideas what might cause the deployment to not push some targets, even when it's past the deadline?
    Thanks,
    Andy Maslin

An unknown status means that the clients are not reporting back to ConfigMgr correctly. This is often due to the WUA not pointing at the correct WSUS instance. You can verify this by examining the WUAHandler.log on one of those clients and it will clearly
indicate an issue with this which in turn is often due to a group policy overriding the ConfigMgr behavior.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 - Updates not installing

    Hi all,
I have a SCCM 2012 R2 setup at a customer which has problems with distributing updates to the Windows 7 computers in the environment. The update group (with updates that are 100% sure required) is deployed to some test computers but the updates don't get
installed. It is also configured to be able to install the updates without looking at any maintenance windows.  I see in the reporting that the updates are required, so in my opinion they should get installed.
I've checked the registry and the Windows Updates registry keys are pointing towards the right server (my SCCM primary site server). I've created a new software update group with fewer updates, same problem.
What I find in the UpdatesDeployment.log on one of the test machines is rather strange:

There are several updates found in the assignment (2 in the first, 216 in the second). Some of them are required but still the log says: No actionable updates.
The SERVICEWINDOWEVENT events originate from the business hours set in the client settings I suppose?
But I don't get why the log sais "No current service window available to run updates assignment with time required = 1"
    Any advice?

    Hi,
What's the status in Software Center on clients?
Please check ScanAgent.log, WUAHandler.log, UpdatesHandler.log and Windowsupdate.log on the client to see if there is any helpful information.

  • SCCM 2012 Client agent not installing

    Hi,
We have some client machines which has Client as "No" in the SCCM console. The ccmsetup.log file of these machines shows repeated entries like:
Download Update: 56283664 out of 66797088 bytes transferred.
ccmsetup.log file of another machine shows entries as below:
Download Update: Copy job has been queued.
I repaired a client machine using "Install Client" and monitored the ccmsetup.log file but it does not show any entries for repair or re-installed as it is downloading updates for a long time.
Also found the below error messages in ccmetup log file:
    File 'C:\Windows\ccmsetup\MicrosoftPolicyPlatformSetup.msi' doesn't exist.
    File 'C:\Windows\ccmsetup\WindowsFirewallConfigurationProvider.msi' doesn't exist.File
    'C:\Windows\ccmsetup\SCEPInstall.exe' doesn't exist.
    File 'C:\Windows\ccmsetup\client.msi' doesn't exist.
Please guide on how to troubleshoot this client issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Lorin
    Regards, Lorin Davis

This issue can be related with BITS settings. It can occurs if the BITS throttling is enabled on the client machines.

  • Installing an application through Powershell with SCCM 2012 r2 is not working as expected

I am trying to install a VOIP client using a powershell script. When I run the powershell script on the client in a administrative powershell prompt the script runs fine and it installs the application as expected. When I try to do the same thing through

The uninstall part works fine, but the installation (2 parts) do not. As I mentioned before... when I run the script manually it all works fine.
The application is installed using a script. The commandline is
    powershell.exe -excecutionpolicy bypass -file Install_UserApps_SU6_Kantoor.ps1
The application runs hidden in the context of the system wether or not the user is logged on. The maximum allowed run time is sufficient (30 minutes).
There is no installation log from the msiexec command so the line were the application should be installed is not executed at all. There is also no mention in my own little log ($logfile = "$env:TEMP\cic_su6-install.txt") mentioning the result
    of the installation.

I'm thinking of going back to a batchfile because that seems to do the job, but Powershell is much more powerfull.
Anybody got any answers on what is going wrong are some suggestions for a better script?

You have a number of problems here.
    1.  As mentioned you have UNC paths ... which means there's no reason for a package at all.  f you want SCCM to use the package it just downloaded you should use $PSScriptRoot (PS equivelant of %~0dp).  If the client is using v2 or earlier
... fix that quick by starting your script with:
    If (!$PSScriptRoot) {
    $PSSCriptRoot = Split-Path $MyInvocation.MyCommand.Path -Parent
Now you can call your install easy enough with a $PSScriptRoot+"\app.exe"
    2.  your discovery is failing after install.  This will always make SCCM report an installation failed even when the exit code is 0.  You can see it at the end of your log:

So either your installation script is spitting out a exit code 0 regardless of the event OR your detection is wrong.
EDIT:  you have exit statemetns after failed installs ... but no exit code (simply exit).  Change those to exit 1 so sccm knows it's a failed exit and not just a generic exit.  That's probably your problem (unc can't be reached as system, you're
getting an exit  .... not defining exit 1).

  • Client Install Issue - SCCM 2012 R2 - Manual Deploy Installed ok

Hello, I have sccm 2012 configured with 2,000 machine approx. It is been used mainly as a Software Deployment tool for now. On checking a recent IE10 upgrade, I noticed that there is a number of machines that do not have the client installed (and thus did
not upgrade IE). I picked 1 machine, searched in SCCM - had no client. I checked all relevant settings:
Boundary for Client in question - ok
Local Client Settings (ip,dns,no firewall, ping sccm ok and vice versa etc).
Once i right clicked to deploy the client, it installed no problem. I checked the ccmsetup log file and the only info it had was from the time that the client was manually deployed (I will attach the log below anyway). I am really puzzled as to why the client
did not install and if this is the issue why IE is not upgrading (it is hard to pinpoint as there are 250 sites approx). The automatic install task works no problem on other machines once the machine goes online.
Any help, would be great. Here is the log (I am fairly new to SCCM btw):

  • SCCM 2012 R2 clients not being automatically 'Approved'

We have a development SCCM 2012  R2 environment that consists of one server with the following roles:
    -Component Server
    -Distribution Point
    -Management point
    -Reporting services point
    -Site database server
    -Site server
    -Site system
We're using this for OSD to deploy Windows 8.1 (we have MDT integrated). The problem lies in the fact that once systems are imaged and the client is installed on them, they do not get Approved, and therefore cannot receive any further OSD task sequences
to be reimaged, or any task sequence for that matter.
What are a list of things one should check in troubleshooting this? We've checked AD permissions on the System Management container, they look fine.
    What else?

In the Administration workspace, go to Site Configuration, right click on Sites, and select Hierarchy Setttings.
The Client Approval and Conflicting Records tab has a 'Client approval method' section.  Do you have "Automatically approve computers in trusted domains" selected?  Are these clients a member of a trusted domain when the client is installed?
If you have "Manually approve each computer" selected, then all devices would have to be manually approved.

  • New SCCM 2012 client machines still getting SCCM 2012 SP1 client not the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client

    Hi,
I've successfully (as far as I can tell) deployed SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 and all my existing clients are showing a client version of 5.00.7804.1400.  But when I setup a new client system recently I noticed that the client version was showing 5.00.7804.1000,
    and not 5.00.7804.1400.
For new client systems, do I need to redeploy the packages that were created for SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 so that the new systems get the new SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 client?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
Here's some good information to look over:
    http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/09/24/sccm-2012-include-cu-in-osd/
I haven't followed these instructions myself, since I haven't really had any good reason to include CUs during the initial installation process. I use this method instead and I've never run into any problems:

  • SCCM 2012 R2 MDT 2013 Install Features after OS Install

I have a question in regards to installing Features on Windows Servers Post OS Install/OSD.
I have MDT 2013 integrated with SCCM 2012 R2. I have created a MDT TS doing the following:
Microsoft Deployment Custom Task Sequence (All other ones were for OSD)
I removed all the steps in the TS except for the "Use Toolkit Package"
Added Several MDT Sequence for Install Roles and Features, Selected SNMP for Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2008 R2 Core, 2012, 2012 R2.
Removed the boot image since it is not needed.
    Deployed to my Test Collection.
I see the TS Running on the test servers but when I check Server Manager the SNMP is still not installed even though software center shows installed on the TS.
Am I missing something here? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!!

Disregard my previous post. I was tinkering with the Compliance Settings and corrected my ignorance.
    Here were my steps:
    Create Configuration Item
General: Put the name, Set Type to Window, filter set to "Server"
Supported Platforms: All servers 2008 and newer
    Settings: Name,
    Discovery Script -PowerShell
    $FeatureName = "SNMP-Service"
    If (Get-WindowsFeature | Where {$_.State -eq "Enabled" -and $_.FeatureName -eq $FeatureName})
        $Compliance = "Compliant"
    Else {
        $Compliance = "NonCompliant"
    Return $Compliance
    Remediation Script - PowerShell
    $FeatureName = "SNMP-Service"
    Import-Module ServerManager
    Install-WindowsFeature -Name $FeatureName -IncludeAllSubFeature
Compliance Rule: Name, Rule Type = Value, Must Comply Equals Compliant, Checked Run remediation script when not compliant, set Reports to Information
Created Config Baseline, Assigned Config Item for SNMP Service and then deployed to my Servers.

  • How to find using SQL query application deployed on win 7 machines with SCCM 2012 server or user installed manually.

    Hi,
how to find using SCCM SQL query,  application deployed on win 7 machines with SCCM 2012 server or user/technician installed manually. Please let me know.

Thanks, is it not possible via any script also?
Like Torsten said, how can you tell the difference between CM12 installed applications and locally installed? Once you can answer that, then you can write report.

  • SCCM 2012 software distribution not able to distribute content for chrome

Hi I am using sccm 2012, need some advice, thanks! I tried to deploy chrome exe to a xp pc but the PC software centre shows downloading for very long time, more than a few hours. I created a 64bit chrome for a win7 pc and deployment also not working, it
just failed. Then I downloaded a msi installer to deploy to an xp pc, the downloading also takes forever, I checked the distribution content, it's failed. I then created a DP group and add the single DP into it. but still not working. I did the work before
for firefox and it did work before. Not sure what happened. Not sure where to check the log for software distribution, any advice please?thanks!
Thanks and best regards, -- KF

    Thanks, Narcoticoo!your advice is helpful!
So, does it mean I can use xxxx.exe /install /silent for all other exe installers? And to find out the detection method, do I have to install the exe on a local pc to find out the actual directory it will install it (Then uninstall it)? and xxx.exe /uninstall
is for uninstallation? Can I create a  bat file like chrome-install.bat to have one line like "ChromeSetupStandAloneSetup.exe
/silent /install " as the the actual installer? Why there is a package option below application? it confused me ....
    Thanks!
Thanks and best regards, -- KF

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3 - Client Install on SiteServer (PrimarySite)

We have an issue with SCCM 2012 Client deployment on our primary site all other clients are installing correctly the error is attached.

I have done self service google and discovered this

    Anyone any ideas????

Also, 1603 is a MSI exit code meaning fatal error occurred.
Have you verified you are running the SP1 sccm client and not RTM on the machine is question?

Thanks, we have checked the error codes.
We have tested the client install onto the primary server in three different sites, on different networks/labs/environments with the same result.
Yes we have verified we are running SP1 CU3 and that the client files are the correct versions.
To eliminate the probable cause of CU3 updates being at fault, we have obtained the Client folder from the SP1 ISO (the later released updated SP1 ISO), with the exact same error.

  • SCCM 2012 SP1 fails to install OSD of Captured Image

I installed Windows Server 2012, Visual Studio Pro 2008, 2010, 2012 and SQL Server 2012 onto a machine. Configured the settings on Windows Server 2012 and SQL 2012 to how the Developers requested to be configured. Ran the Capture Media from SCCM 2012 SP1,
saved to the designated network share. Capture was successful.
I create a TS to deploy the image to the other Dev Servers but it reboots to say no valid operating system found. I checked Monitoring for the Deployment I see the Task sequence but has the following error: Device - Unknown, MessageID - 11170, Description
    - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence.
I see in the Apply Operation System from a captured image shows 1-1, 2-2, or 3-3. Does it matter which one I select and if so what does the numbers mean?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!!

    Hi Blacksuit,
Those numbers of the captured image stand for the indexes that are part of your WIM.  And yes, it does matter which one you select.  In the ConfigMgr console, go to your Software Library > Operating Systems > Operating System Images and select
the image you imported into ConfigMgr.  Then at the bottom, click the Details tab to display your indexes.  The index that contains your OS will have an OS Version and a description.  The other indexes will be data images and not contain any
information in the Details tab.  You'll need to choose the index (number) that contains the OS for the Apply OS step.  To apply the data image indexes, use the Apply Data Image task sequence step and specify the partitions to apply the images
too before the Apply OS step.
    Good luck!

  • How to install BITS after SCCM 2012 has already been installed?

    Hello,
I inherited an SCCM 2012 server that someone else on our team installed.  I noticed after looking at his screenshots that BITS did not get selected to be installed.  Can someone tell me how to install this on the SCCM server?  Is it a matter
of going back to the iso or is there another better way?   Please let me know.  Thanks for any help.

Use the add windows feature from the windows control panel.
    Or use PowerShell:
