SCCM 2012 R2 Prerequisite Check

Hello
I'm stuck with the installation of SCCM 2012 R2. I get stuck at the Prerequisite Check with the following errors:
1. SQL Server service running account
2. Required SQL Server Collation
3. SQL Server sysadmin rights
SQL 2012 SP1 is installed on the same Windows Server 2012 R2 server that I am trying to install the SCCM 2012 R2 on. I did not use the default instance name during the SQL 2012 SP1 setup and created a name myself. I have also applied SQL Server 2012 SP1
x64 CU9 before I proceeded with the SCCM 2012 R2 setup. I have put in credentials for a service account (Domain Admin) for the five SQL Services (SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Browser).
Is it okay if I use the same service account for all 5 services? I have also turned off firewall and disabled the Windows Firewall Service. Why am I getting error number 1?.
I chose "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" as server collation during SQL 2012 SP1 setup. If I go to Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and go to Server Properties, I can see Server Collation is "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS". Why am
I getting error number 2?
I have made the Service Account used for SQL Services, the account used to install SCCM 2012 R2 and also a local group on the same server which has the local computer account to "sysadmin" under Server Roles on Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
Why am I getting error number 3?
Can anyone help me out here please?

Hi,
if you setup a named instance, have to configure SQL Server to listen on an static TCP port. (instead dynamic TCP port)
In SQL Server Configuration Manager, expand SQL Server Network Configuration, and then click Protocols for <instance_name>.
Expand Protocols for <instance_name>, and then click TCP/IP.
Right-click TCP/IP,
and then click Properties
In the IP Addresses tab, under IPAll, set TCP Port (1433).

  • Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 Prerequisite Checker returns "Migration active source hierarchy" error

    Hello,
    I am getting "Migration active source hierarchy" error in the SCCM 2012 SP1 prerequisite checker on the CM 2012 primary site. The error says "There is an active hierarchy configuration for the migration. Please stop data gathering for each
    source site in the source hierarchy." However, actually there is no migration source hierarchy configured and there are no migration jobs displayed in CM 2012 console. We used to configure this feature to migrate CM 2007 to current CM 2012 without service
    pack two years ago and we have deleted these configurations.

    I am not really sure where to look into in this case. I would appreciate any advice.

    Hi,
    Could you please upload the full migmctrl.log?
    How about specifying a source hierarchy with the same name and password of the hierarchy before in the console, then click Clean Up Migration Data?

  • Using SCCM 2012 Compliance to check if a GPO applied

    Is it possible to use SCCM 2012 Compliance feature to check if a AD GPO settings applied to a Device / User collection or not?
    If Yes, then how?

    You can do this with SCM (Security Compliance Manager), download here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16776
    Import your GPOs to SCM some guidelines here:
    http://4sysops.com/archives/microsoft-security-compliance-manager-scm-v2-part-1
    Export your GPO from SCM to DCM format guides here:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/scom_2012_upgrade_process__lessons_learned_during_my_upgrade_process/archive/2012/09/21/compliance-settings-sccm-2012.aspx
    Import your DCM to SCCM and off you go

  • SCCM 2012 Application Requirement Check and Recheck Interval

    Looking for any information regarding the frequency that a Required Application will retry to check it's requirements if it fails to pass
    a requirement at a deadline previously.
    For example, the latest version of Java 7 Update 55 works best if IE is not up and running on the target  machine in order to
    install successfully and silently.  So we created a requirement using a WQL query to detect if IE is up and running,  and if IE is running to NOT install Java.  However,
    everyone pretty much always has IE up so its going to be tough to capture a time when these systems (85% laptops) meet the criteria for installation.  We thought that we could try to install at a logged off state, but these systems are always on the move
    and rarely left logged off and up and running so thats not an great option.  Since this Java install is a Required Application it will be subject to Application Enforcement cycle which will run every 7 days, but that isn't frequent enough for us in this
    example.
    Anyone had to deal with something like this yet?  Our options look like we might have to prompt the user, or increase the frequency
    of the app enforcement cycle.
    Appreciate any insight.
    Thanks

    In this case you indeed completely depend on the Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle.
    For something like this I would start look at something like that this:

  • IE11 prereqs deploy via SCCM 2012

    Hi,
    To deploy IE 11 on Windows 7, apparently you need to install 9 prereqs (see http://www.itninja.com/blog/view/how-to-package-internet-explorer-11-x64-for-windows-7-x64):
    These prereqs are: KB2834140
    KB2670838 KB2639308 KB2533623 KB2731771
    KB2729094 KB2786081 KB2888049 KB2882822
    I don't find the prereqs in red within sccm 2012. Did check the classifications (checked them all in software update point) and did a full sync.
    Please advise howto find/deploy them (I hoped to do this via windows updates and not via seperate packages).

    Hi,
    I just checked the first Patch:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838
    And there you can find the section: How to obtain this update.
    Is there is Windows Update not noted, you can't receive this Patch through Windows Updates. Consider to deploy the Patch as prerequisite as an application. Here you can find an example of installing hotfixes as prerequisite for the App-V client:
    http://scug.be/sccm/category/detection-methods/
    Detection method is VBScript. Ar you want to create a Detection method with Powershell, refer to this blog post:
    https://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/03/19/sccm-2012-application-detection-with-powershell-and-code-signing/
    Hope this helps.

  • SCCM 2012 installation problem..prerequisite fails

    Hi there,
    I am trying to install SCCM 2012 on Server 2012 and its seems that the prerequisite checker fails on 3 checks, all related to SQL.
    SQL Server service running account
    required SQL Server Collation
    SQL Server sysadmin rights
    And I wonder how exactly the installation of SCCM 2012 is looking for the SQL Server?
    Is it through Active directory? What if i had 4 different SQL Servers. How can he knows where to look his server?
    I do not remember that i entered during the wizard any SQL Server name.
    I think i am getting those errors because, the installation can't find any SQL Server.
    I have 3 Virtual machines:
    1. Server 2012 as DC
    2. Server 2012 as SQL Server 2012 RTM with CU3
    3. Server 2012 as Sccm 2012 R2 x64
    Any ideas how to troubleshoot this problem?

    Try removing Use typical installation options for a stand-alone primary site option.
    When using this option, Setup automatically configures the site as stand-alone primary site, uses a default installation path, a
    local installation of the default instance of SQL
    Server for the site database, a local management point, a local distribution point, and configures the site with English and the display language of the operating system on the
    primary site server if it matches one of the languages that Configuration Manager supports.

  • Issue upon upgrading SCCM 2012 rto R2 | Prerequisites failed

    Hi,
    I'm having this issue upon upgrading our current SCCM 2012 server SP1 to R2. When I reach the prerequisite checker,  it fails to detect the User State Migration Tool (USMT) installed, Windows Deployment Tools installed and Windows Preinstallation Environment
    installed. I'm guessing that this is because I have the WAIK for Windows 8 and not the WAIK for Windows 8.1. So I followed the instructions from the prerequisite checker and downloaded the latest version of WAIK. When I installed the WAIK for Windows 8.1,
    it prompted me that it can't be installed because WAIK for 8.1 is already installed which is kinda weird. So I tried uninstalling WAIK from the server, but I came to this error. ( see image below)
    Does anyone know how to get around this problem? This is becoming a showstopper for my upgrade.

    When I open the error log, here is what I saw:
    I have tried to use an Enterprise account to try to uninstall the WAIK but still it failed.
    I followed the workaround provided in the link you sent and I was able to uninstall WAIK. I disjoined the server to AD and uninstalled WAIK. Maybe there is a GPO policy that is blocking the uninstallation.
    Thank you very much for your assistance.

  • User attributes checked by Delta Discovery in SCCM 2012

    Hi All,
    Since I simply cannot find an answer to my question using google, will ask it here and hope you can help me.
    Which EXACT User attributes does Delta Discovery check for in SCCM 2012? Is it possible to manipulate this, and add one more attribute?
    Microsoft's answer to this question is a simple: Basic User Information, but that not an exact answer.
    Here is the deal. We updated the extensionAttribute12 with computernames, so that we know what the primary device for a User is (I know this feature is present in CM12, but we will not use it for reasons). This information will be collected by User Discovery
    and by using a nested query in the device collection, the Primary device will be added to it. This works like a charm, the only issue is time. We need that value to be checked by delta discovery if it has been changed, however this only works with FULL discovery
    which is set to 1 week. If I lower this value that might cause serious backlogs, as the jobs get piled up in the inboxes due to the large amount of DDR files. Is there anything we can do? Powershell script, a configuration file in CM12 for delta discovery
    or something. We really don't what to set the User discovery to run a FULL scan every 4 hours or so, as I don't know what would happen when checking for 24k Users.
    Thank you in advance for any sort of feedback!
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Well, I checked the attribute if its replicated to the GC and according to this line isMemberOfPartialAttributeSet: TRUE it does. Will run a test again with delta discovery, and if that failes, will try to change the SystemFlag on it.

  • How to check Edition of SCCM 2012 got installed ?

    Microsoft has two different System Center Suite 2012 licensing models
    System Center 2012 Standard
    System Center 2012 Datacenter
    After installation How do I check what Edition of SCCM 2012 got installed?

    These are only licensing models. You do not select which to install. There is no difference in the binaries or after installation (it's not like Window Server where you can see this in Control Panel).

  • How to check SCCM 2012 SP1 license?

    Hi,
    I have SCCM 2012 SP1 and the program is licensed.
    I must know :
    1. How to check SCCM 2012 SP1 edition is Standard or Datacenter?
    2. How limit of SCEP (Endpoint Protection) client that can managed by SCCM 2012 SP1 Standard or Datacenter?
    Regards, Bar Waelah

    There is no limitations or feature changes between standard and datacenter.
    You can read more about the new licensing model for System Center 2012 here:

    If you don't know which license you have bought i think you need to Contact Microsoft.

  • Upgrade from SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4 to R2 Fails - Unsupported Upgrade Path

    Hi everybody,
    I'm currently upgrading our SCCM infrastructure to SCCM 2012 R2 after have finished with the upgrade from SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 CU4, thus far everything works fine, but when I try to update any
    of the site servers, whether CAS or Primary, I'm getting the following error message in the Prerequisites Check:
    I've gone through the system requirements and prerequisites over and over again and I can assure you that every possible update, supported OS, feature set, SQL Server, check list, etc,
    etc, have been followed as per the official documentation available, however I'm stuck in this point, and surely enough I haven't been able to find out a similar case.Additionally I'm adding
    the ConfigMgrPrereq log (the relevant portion of it) in case someone could kindly take a look at it.

    I confirm that this one site is a secondary one that's attached to a primary site and this log is from the CAS server, I managed to tall it and delete it from that site, but still appears listed
    on the CAS management console, any idea how to force the removal of a secondary site that's attached to a primary from the CAS site when it has been removed already from said primary?
    I've already tried the
    Preinst /DELSITE XXX  command but it only works when the site to remove it's attached to the local site and certainly not from a CAS
    Finally,  the version, build number and everything is correct, no idea what could be the problem, does anybody know a way to bypass this or force the re-evaluation of this rules, I've got
    the impression that it's being cached somehow.
    Any help would be highly appreciated,
    Thank you.
    Marcelo Estrada MCP-MCTS-MCITP-MCSA-MCSE

    Hello again everybody,
    I've finally managed to fix this up, in the end I had to delete those entries manually from the database as Garry suggested. After this was done the upgrade has gone through as expected with no further ado and has finalized already, now moving on to the
    primary sites.
    If anybody out there is facing the same issue, what I did was to delete those "stubborn" records executing the following statements over the CAS database:
    DELETE
    FROMServerDataWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    DELETE
    FROMSC_SiteDefinitionWHERESiteCode='XXX'
    And this is pretty much about it. I'd recommend to take a proper backup first though as best practice.
    Thank you all anyways for your answers and comments,
    Marcelo Estrada MCP-MCTS-MCITP-MCSA-MCSE

    SAVE POWERSHELL FILE AS: NetworkPrinterInventory.ps1
    SETUP THE SCCM PACKAGE/PROGRAM WITH COMMAND LINE:
    %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\PowerShell.exe -NonInteractive -WindowStyle Hidden -noprofile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -file .\NetworkPrinterInventory.ps1
    3) CREATE A DEPLOYMENT AND SET IT TO ‘RUN ALWAYS’ AND MAKE IT A REQUIREMENT.
    Now deploy the second package and set the first package as a prerequisite (Check the box – Always run the prerequisite package)
    The deployment should be set to run every 4 hours and ‘Always rerun’. Mark the deployment as required.
    4) ADD THE FOLLOWING IN BETWEEN THE EXTENSION SECTION WITHIN YOUR CONFIGURATION.MOF.
    //========================
    // Added extensions Start
    //========================
    #pragma namespace ("\\\\.\\root\\cimv2")
    #pragma deleteclass("NETWORKPRINTERS", NOFAIL)
    [dynamic, provider("RegProv"), ClassContext("Local|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\SCCMINVENTORY\\NETWORKPRINTERS")]
    Class NETWORKPRINTERS
    [key] string KeyName;
    [PropertyContext("PrintServer")] String PrintServer;
    [PropertyContext("PrinterQueue")] String PrinterQueue;
    [PropertyContext("PrinterLocation")] String PrinterLocation;
    [PropertyContext("PrinterDriver")] String PrinterDriver;
    [PropertyContext("PrintProcessor")] String PrintProcessor;
    [PropertyContext("PrinterPortName")] String PrinterPortName;
    [PropertyContext("DateInventoried")] String DateInventoried;
    //========================
    // Added extensions end
    //========================
    5) SAVE THE BELOW DATA INTO A FILE CALLED ‘AWESOME.MOF’.
    #pragma namespace (“\\\\.\\root\\cimv2\\SMS”)
    #pragma deleteclass(“NETWORKPRINTERS”, NOFAIL)
    [SMS_Report(TRUE),SMS_Group_Name("NETWORKPRINTERS"),SMS_Class_ID("NETWORKPRINTERS")]
    Class NETWORKPRINTERS: SMS_Class_Template
    [SMS_Report(TRUE),key] string KeyName;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrintServer;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrinterQueue;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrinterLocation;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrinterDriver;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrintProcessor;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String PrinterPortName;
    [SMS_Report(TRUE)] String DateInventoried;
    6) IMPORT ‘AWESOME.MOF’ INTO SCCM DEFAULT CLIENT SETTINGS.
    Either import the above MOF file into the Client Setting/Default Client Settings/Hardware Inventory/Classes/Import. Select the option to import every thing.
    Alternatively, if you have compiled the MOF manually on the PC, Add a new reporting class by clicking the ‘Add’ button and connecting to the PC and selecting the WMI class ‘NETWORKPRINTERS‘
    and that is it. The SCCM resource explorer should soon see the Network Printers.
    Now, this is a convoluted process but this is the only way I can inventory Network printers. Any ideas or suggestions?

    All the other ways are similar because this is a per-user setting.
